"did yuna not want to walk with us this morning?" jake joked to soovin and sunghoon as he looked down at his phone while he was walking to school with the two friends
"hmm? no, she just walked with heeseung today since he offered her" sunghoon replied, not really thinking much about it
"oh. she didn't tell me" he awkwardly laughed as he put his phone away into his pocket
"she's probably just getting closer to heeseung" soovin spoke as she linked her arm with jake, "since it's kinda obvious they like each other"
"y-you guys think so?" jake stammered and the two looked at him weirdly
"you good jake?" sunghoon asked, "you just stammered"
"huh?" he realized what he did and shook his head, "oh. i just didn't get much sleep last night. i have a violin rehearsal today so i was up practicing" he answered
'that seems reasonable right?' he thought to himself
"okay.." sunghoon was suspicious of him but brushed it off, "but anyways, yah it's pretty obvious they like each other. they look at each other the way you looked at soovin when you first saw her"
jake turned red, remembering how embarrassing that was. soovin chuckled, looking at jake, "you were nervous?"
"he definitely was" sunghoon laughed, patting his shoulder, "he stuttered, which he never does unless he's nervous—which he was, and red as hell. never seen him like that except for a few times with yuna"
jake smacked his arm immediately after hearing the end, "so..you did you like yuna?" soovin asked curiously
jake shook his head, "i haven't liked her before. we are just friends"
"hmm" sunghoon was provoking him now, "i remember multiple times where you did turn red around yuna like whenever she was close to your face, hugged you out of excitement or just smiled in general"
soovin laughed, "you didn't liker her huh?"
for some reason, soovin wasn't jealous. she didn't feel it all and she thought it was weird.
she should be jealous about it right?
"i-i didn't like yuna" jake shook it off
sunghoon chuckled, "how could you not like yuna?"
"i agree with him" soovin spoke and the two boys looked at her, "i mean yuna is kinda a dream girl. she's sweet, she's super nice, she's cute, she's caring-"
"do like yuna?" sunghoon spoke, emphasizing the 'you'
"i don't like yuna oh my god!" soovin smacked her forehead, "im just saying, i wouldn't be surprised if jake liked yuna"
"can we get off this topic??" jake groaned and the two just laughed, agreeing with him

the three finally reached school and this is where soovin parted from the boys, "i'll see you guys later"
soovin kissed jake on the cheek and while two felt shy, their hearts just didn't race as much as before
soovin waved bye to the two before beginning to walk away so she could go to her class
"hey can you come with me to the library?" jake asked the tall boy beside him, "i needed to pick up a book"
sunghoon nodded so the two began walking to the library in the school which wasn't far from where they were.
they reached the library and entered, lowering their voices and sunghoon just followed jake to wherever he had to go.
they were in a certain aisle while jake looked around for his book that he needed. sunghoon randomly looked through the books in the section until he pulled one out and saw something behind it. he gasped which scared jake. jake turned around, looking at the boy, "what??"
"i think that's yuna and heeseung" sunghoon spoke as he weirdly looked through the empty spot of where the book used to be
"how do you know?" jake scoffed, turning back around, grabbing a book and flipping through the pages
"well two things" sunghoon stated looking at him, "heeseung likes yuna so he spends time with her the most and second, yuna's the only girl to have orange hair in this school"
jake quickly closed his book and went over to where sunghoon was and looked through the empty space and there was yuna and heeseung just studying
"what time did you sleep at last night?" heeseung chuckled as he saw the girl who was dozing off while studying
"hm..3?" she responded, "it's earlier than usual..i try and take melatonin but it doesn't work on me anymore since i've taken it so much"
"you should try to get your homework done before 12 am, so at least you have like 6 hours of sleep" heeseung told her
"i would promise you that i will do that but i know i'm not going to keep that promise" yuna joked and the boy laughed in response.
yuna's hair fell to the side of her as she turned to look back at her workbook
heeseung reached his hand out, placing the strands of her hair that fell in front of her face behind her ear.
yuna froze from this as she turned her head to look at heeseung who was just smiling at her then he realized what he did
"a-ah!" he quickly removed his hand, turning red, "sorry.."

"it's okay.." she chuckled nervously, feeling her heart beat uncontrollably and her ears turning red
"stop! they're so cute oh my god" sunghoon told jake, a smile on his face growing
jake didn't respond as he continue to watch the two
"your ears are really red yuna" heeseung pointed out
she quickly covered her ears with her hair, letting out an awkward laugh, "weird.."
"you're so cute" he chuckled in response
"t-thank you.." she smiled, wanting to just die at that moment because she was very nervous being in front of the boy
'stop freaking stuttering you idiot' yuna cursed at herself wanting to just smack herself
"aww they're so cute-" sunghoon stopped his sentence as he looked at jake, "uh..jake?" sunghoon looked at the boy who was clenching his phone so hard that his hand was turning red, "you good?"
"huh?" jake looked down at his phone and noticed this. he quickly soften his grip, his hand turning back to normal, "y-yah i'm fine. let me just grab the book and we can go" he went back, looking for his book
"i'm going to get a book" yuna quickly excused herself from the boy before she could embarrass herself anymore than she already was. she stood up from her seat and began walking towards an aisle
the aisle sunghoon and jake were in
"shit not this aisle" sunghoon cursed as he placed the book back and walked over to jake, "let's go!" sunghoon grabbed his wrist and began dragging him but jake was confused
"what? why-"
"sunghoon? jake?" the two were too late when they heard a familiar female voice.
the two stopped in their place and turned around, "h-hey..yuna"
"what are you two doing here?" she asked as she walked towards two, stopping in front of them
"i had to grab a book" jake responded, "it was in this aisle and i was looking for it. w-what are you doing here?"
'good job idiot..' jake scolded himself in his mind for stuttering
"oh i was studying with heeseung" she said, "i didn't know you guys were here"
"we didn't know you were here either" sunghoon laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck
"can i tell you guys something real quick?" yuna then asked
"let me guess" sunghoon whispered excitedly, "you like heeseung??" sunghoon leaned down, slightly since yuna wasn't that much shorter, anticipating her answer and to be honest so was jake
"i think i do" she responded and sunghoon lowkey wanted to shout in excitement but kept his cool since he was in the library and couldn't shout but he was excited
"yes! i'm so happy for you yuna" sunghoon smiled, patting her shoulder
jake was silent and yuna noticed this. yuna pouted, hitting his arm lightly, "i was hoping you'd be excited that i'm moving on from you"
"huh?" he snapped out of his trance and smiled awkwardly, "i mean yah! i'm happy for you. really am"
yuna smiled hearing his response, "i should go back. i'll see you two in class" the girl happily walked away from the aisle and over to heeseung, sitting down after calming herself
heeseung looked at the time and then at yuna, "should we go? it's almost time for class. i can walk you to class if you want"
"oh sur-"
"yah..let's go together!" two arms wrapped around yuna and heeseung's shoulders.
yuna and heeseung turned their heads, seeing jake between the two
"yah! jake!" sunghoon came over as well, smacking his head, "what the hell are you doing??"
"you guys are here?" heeseung laughed as he looked at the two
"yah..what are you doing here??" yuna said through gritted teeth and glared at the two boys, annoyed that they were interrupting her with heeseung
"haha! we were just leaving" sunghoon grabbed jake's wrist and attempted to whisper in his ear, "let's go idiot"
"come on. we're going the same way anyways" jake suggested
'what the fuck am i doing? jake just listen to sunghoon' his mind told him but he kept ignoring it
"yes..i know that" sunghoon spoke through gritted teeth as well, "let's get going and leave them alone.."
"it's fine" heeseung stood up, grabbing his bag, "we can all walk together"
yuna sighed, agreeing with him as she packed up her things and stood up.
the four then left the library, all of them walking to class. heeseung and yuna were in the front walking while jake and sunghoon were in the back
"why did you interrupt them?" sunghoon scolded jake, smacking his arm
"i didn't" jake responded even though he knew he did
"uhm yes you did" sunghoon spoke, rubbing his forehead in annoyance, "and you know you did. i thought you were happy for her moving on?"
"i am happy for her. i swear!" jake defended himself, whispering so the two in front didn't
sunghoon was suspicious of him still, knowing for sure he was jealous. jake wasn't one of his best friends for no reason, "you're jealous"
"am not!" he shouted causing both heeseung and yuna to stop in their tracks and turn around, looking at the two
"you guys good?" yuna asked
"yah he's just je-" jake covered sunghoon's mouth with his hand immediately making the rest of sunghoon's words muffled
"we're good" jake gave a reassuring smile as they nodded, turning around and continuing to walk
sunghoon shoved jake's hand off his mouth, muttering a bunch of incoherent words making jake roll his eyes
'i shouldn't be acting like this'

NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY: The Adventures of The Creeping Bam (BOOK ONE: The Job)
TAO is a broken world held together with nothing but magic and the will of the gods who protect it and its people. Then thousand years ago THE SUNDERING struck and Tao was almost torn apart by a terrible magical cataclysm which resulted in the planet almost being halted in its journey through the cosmos. It took all the power the gods of Tao could muster to restore its orbit and set it turning again, but in their efforts it was forever changed – its axis was drastically altered, and it now spins in such a way that one face of the world is forever turned from the sun it orbits, leaving half the planet in perpetual darkness. The various humanoid races that survived and now thrive within the habitable parts of THE DAY LANDS have come to live in perpetual fear of what lives beyond THE BORDERLANDS that separate them from whatever dwells within THE NIGHT LANDS, but for ten millennia it has kept its secrets. The land of RUNDAO languishes under the rule of their warlike Northern neighbours, the TEKTEHRAN EMPIRE, while a small, ragtag band of motley adventurers ply their mercenary trade fighting monsters and protecting the common man from the various dangers that haunt the night and prowl the hinterlands on the edges of civilization. THE CREEPING BAM have amassed a modest reputation in their years together, but they’re still just a small-time party of sellswords, thieves, outcasts and mages. They’re also exactly the kind of underdogs the people of Tao doesn’t yet realise are needed to save the world from the encroaching darkness they doesn’t even know is coming … This is a love letter and homage to the high-fantasy worlds of the tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Warhammer and the sword & sorcery cinema and literature I fell in love with as a kid growing up in the 80s, from Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (and the awesome Schwarzenegger movie, STILL my favourite fantasy film EVER), The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and Ron Howard and George Lucas’ Willow, to the more grown-up and edgy worlds of grimdark masters George RR Martin and (my all-time favourite) Joe Abercrombie, as well as a BIG DOLLOP of Terry Pratchett’s immortal Discworld series. IMPORTANT: This story contains material which some readers may consider to be mature, such as battle violence, some strong language and occasional mild sexual scenes. If this is not your kind of thing, this story is not for you. I am also serializing this story on Tumblr, Wattpad, Quotev and Sweek.
