the next few weeks, soovin and jake continued to see each other and he even took her on another date; thanks to yuna who helped him plan it
jake and soovin weren't official yet as they still wanted to go on more dates to figure out whether or not they really want to date
slowly over these weeks, yuna felt herself not being as shy or as attached(?) to jake as before.
she began hanging out with heeseung whenever she was studying with him and also when jake, sunghoon, and soovin were busy. she felt genuinely happy being around him.
the bell rung signaling the end of the class. the teacher dismissed the class before grabbing their things and leaving the room
yuna began packing her things into her bag when jake came in, standing beside her desk
"hello jake" she greeted, continuing to put her things away in her bag
"hey yuna" he smiled, "do you want to-"
yuna's phone buzzed, cutting jake off. she grabbed her phone and looked at the message, "oh it's heeseung" she smiled and put her phone down, looking back at jake as she put the rest of her things in her bag, "what were you saying again?"
"i was just going to ask you if you wanted to walk home together but seems like you have someone else already" he chuckled bitterly
"sorry!" she apologized, "i didn't know he was going to ask me..but! you have soovin so it's okay" she smiled apologetically.
"you've been busy recently" jake spoke, not noticing the sad tone that came off in his voice
yuna nodded, "i mean..you have your things and i now have my things with track..and trying to get my grades up. so...sorry i haven't seen you in awhile. i hope to hang out with you guys soon but it's hard because whenever i'm free, you and soovin are not and vice versa"
"it kinda hurts..you haven't been speaking to me a lot or seeing-" jake cut himself off, realizing he no right to even speak as he did the same thing to yuna, "i mean-"
"it hurts?" yuna asked and chuckled bitterly, "do you now know how i felt for the past year?" yuna spoke, anger evident in her voice but like always, she never raised her voice
jake understood why yuna was mad at him and felt bad, "i'm sorry..i didn't think about it"
"it's fine-"
"yuna" a voice spoke, cutting of yuna and the two turned to see heeseung by the door, "ready or are you going to walk with jake?"
"we can go" she smiled at the boy then looked at jake, "i'll see you another time" jake waved bye to the girl as she grabbed her bag and went over to heeseung

he chuckled at the smaller girl, patting her head and the two left the classroom
soovin walked into the classroom afterwards after saying hi to heeseung and yuna.
she walked over to jake who was now seated in yuna's seat, "hey jake" she sat next to him
"hey soovin" he responded and leaned in, kissing her cheek
she smiled, placing her hand in the palm of her hand, "are you busy afterschool?"
♡
the next day during lunch, sunghoon and yuna were eating in the cafeteria, waiting for jake and soovin to come and join them
her phone buzzed in her pocket and she raised an eyebrow. she grabbed her phone out of her pocket and saw the notification
"who is it?" sunghoon asked, looking at her
"heeseung" she answered, looking up at him, "he said he wants to meet me by the bleachers"
sunghoon was looking at her like she was crazy. yuna was confused, "w-what?"
"why are you acting so normal and not freaking out?? why am i freaking out for you??" he spoke and yuna just looked at him weirdly
"why would i be-"
"just go!" he shouted at her and she jumped, standing up from her seat
"okay okay!" she muttered incoherent words under her breath as she began walking out of the cafeteria to go meet heeseung.
she walked out to the field where there were multiple kids were playing basketball on the courts. she looked over at the bleachers and saw heeseung sitting there on his phone by himself.
yuna unknowingly smiled to herself as she clenched her phone in her hand as she began walking
yuna stopped in her place and thought, '..why am i so nervous?'
she shook her head and continued to walk over to the bleachers. she stepped up the bleachers and stood in front of him, "hello heeseung"
heeseung looked up from his phone and smiled upon seeing yuna, "hey yuna"
she then sat beside him, flattening her skirt as she sat, "oh" heeseung quickly took off his blazer and offered it to her.
"thank you" she smiled, bowing her head lightly as she took his blazer and placed it over her legs, "so...what'd you need?"
"i wanted to ask how are you?" she raised an eyebrow, "you know..like after my party? jake and sunghoon told me you got drunk? i meant to ask you a few weeks ago but..i got busy with school and stuff then whenever i was hanging out with you..uhm..it didn't cross my mind weirdly enough"
"oh that.." she chuckled nervously, "i'm fine. i just had a headache and said some stupid things the night before but other than that i felt fine"

"how was it being drunk?" he asked, chuckling afterwards
"i don't even remember anything. i just remember drinking whatever bottles i found in the bathroom" she spoke then looked at him, "why was there soju in the bathroom anyways?"
"i don't even know" he replied, "ask the drunk 3rd years why"
she laughed in response, "is...that all you wanted to say?"
"actually i wanted to apologize for that day as well" he sighed, still feeling bad about what happened
"huh? why would you apologize? you didn't do it" she asked him, confused and not wanting him to blame himself
"well i feel bad since i was the one who invited him and you were literally right next to me and he still did it to you" he explained, "i just feel guilty since i didn't protect you i guess? i didn't expect someone to do something like that"
yuna looked away for a second, holding onto her chest, 'why he is so cute..?' she thought before calming her heart and looked back at him, "you don't need to apologize at all! it was kinda just out of no where so i didn't expect it. please don't blame yourself for it. ugh now i feel bad"
"please don't"
now it was just a conversation of the two going back and forth saying to not blame each other
"okay!" yuna cut both of them off, waving her hands in front of her, "it was neither of our faults. let's just agree with that"
heeseung nodded and the two chuckled afterwards
"actually..that wasn't all i wanted to say" heeseung began and looked at her and just by looking at her, yuna's heart was racing so fast and so was, "i know you just said it wasn't my fault but..can i still..make it up to you? okay i have no idea what the hell im saying- i'm going to shut up. yuna can i take you out?" he blurted out the ending after rambling a bunch
yuna froze in her spot as heeseung spoke. she thought she didn't hear him correctly. she leaned in, "say that again? please i think i heard wrong"
he took in a deep breath, speaking again, "would you like to go on a date with me yuna?"
yuna leaned back, processing whatever the hell just happened, "m-me? hold on" she looked around, making sure there wasn't someone else named yuna who just so happened to be there at the same time. heeseung just laughed and she looked back at him, "you sure you're asking the right person?"
"well i don't think there's another girl in this school who has bright orange hair, is 5'7, and is called bae yuna" heeseung responded but yuna was still in shock at his question
she placed the back of her hand on his forehead, "hm..you seem normal"
"i'm not joking yuna" he told her and she took her hand off of his forehead, "i really want to take you on a date"
"i-i don't know-"
"i know it was kinda sudden so i don't expect an answer immediately. you can have time to think whether its a few days, weeks, or a months, just don't ghost me"
yuna chuckled and nodded, "thank you. i'll be sure to give you an answer eventually"
"of course" he smiled and stood up, looking at her, "i should get going to class. i'll see you afterschool for tutoring"
yuna agreed and waved bye to him as he began walking off the bleachers.
yuna looked to the side and saw a bottle of aloe vera. she was going to call out for heeseung but saw a note on it instead. she took the sticky note off and read it, 'this is for you (:'
yuna looked back at the boy who was walking back into the building
she looked down at the bottle and smiled, "he's so sweet.."
♡
"sunghoon! sunghoon! sunghoon!" yuna ran down the hall as she found the tall boy by his lockers.
sunghoon didn't have time to react before he felt arms wrapped around him.
he balanced himself and held onto the girl. she pulled away with the brightest smile on her face and sunghoon chuckled, "what happened?? you're way too happy"
"he asked me on a date!"
sunghoon's eyes widened and lit up, "really?? heeseung? lee heeseung?? he asked you out?"
she nodded, holding onto his forearms, "i didn't expect it!!"
"well, what'd you say??" sunghoon was very excited for her as this was the perfect time for her to get rid of her feelings for jake even though he could already see that they were slowly fading
"i was kinda just in shock so he said he'd give me time for an answer" yuna explained to him
"i'm so happy for you yuna!" sunghoon exclaimed, patting her head, "you better say yes!"
"i don't know yet but..he's making my heart race like a lot.."
"that's a good thing!" sunghoon said, "maybe this is the start of you losing your feelings for jake!" he whispered and she nodded excited
yuna let go of sunghoon's arms. she was going to speak again when saw jake and soovin running down the hall that they were currently in
jake and soovin were going to pass them but yuna held onto jake's wrist. soovin was still dashing down the hall, "wait jake i-"
"sorry yuna! soovin and i have a meeting right now" he smiled apologetically before removing her hand from his wrist and the continued to run down the hall
yuna looked at sunghoon, "i was going to tell him about it but i guess i can tell him another time"

Death By Protagonist
Donavan has made his living by wading through hundreds of stories in search of the quality few he and his firm believe to be worth publishing. After a strange twist of fate, he gets trapped inside the fantasy book of a particularly campy and amateur author. There he will have to navigate a world built on wish fulfillment, power fantasies, and fanservice in order to fix the story from the inside out if he ever wishes to leave. But can he bring himself to play the many roles necessary to manipulate and guide the characters to a satisfying conclusion? Authors Note: Death By Protagonist is meant to be simultaneously a satire of, and love letter to the isekai/portal fantasy genre. It both makes fun of and embraces many tropes of the genre such as harems, explicit sexual content, OP protagonists, and other things many people might think of as "trashy." If that doesn't sound like your thing, you've been warned, but I hope you'll give it a shot anyway. Update Schedule: Plan is to at least put out one new chapter every week, hopefully two.

Join him on his adventures as he must deal with menus, monsters, and mysteries in this litrpg fantasy. Now, out of his depth, damn near out of his mind, he must learn to survive in a game-like reality with no reloads, checkpoints, or save scumming. He does, however, have a drunk snake. Thank you for reading my first story, hopefully, the first of many to come. This will be my main story and is meant to help me practice and hone my skills as I slowly produce more complex ideas. It's a litrpg in which I want to only lightly focus on the mechanics as I don’t want to pad out the word count with math and number tables and while I want to add a few of my own twists here and there, overall I’m going to keep this story close to generic as possible so that I don't let my inexperience lead me into a corner. Thanks again to all willing to leave a review or some constructive criticism, without you I'd never improve. Unfortunately, Cover art is by me.
