the three friends were currently in yuna's room just talking when jake suddenly brought up what happened earlier when he and soovin parted ways
"soovin said what?!" sunghoon exclaimed, looking at him in shock
"she just randomly told me that i looked good in turtlenecks then left like what does she-" jake sighed, cutting himself off as he was still flustered about what happened, "she's been here for a whole day, why is she making me feel like this?"
"you probably li-" sunghoon cut himself off as he saw yuna biting her lip and looking at her textbook that was on her bed, "i-i mean you don't interact with girls besides yuna so you probably are just nervous?"
"maybe" jake groaned, "i don't know anymore"
yuna then put her textbook down and spoke, "want to invite her to the picnic on sunday?"
sunghoon looked at her with wide eyed, 'what are you doing?' he mouthed towards her but yuna ignored him
"it's okay yuna" jake shook his head, "it's supposed to be for us three "
"i mean" yuna shrugged, not really caring, "she might be hanging out with us from now on so it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring her along and get to know her even more"
sunghoon was just looking at her in disbelief since he didn't know what she was doing and to be honest neither did she; no girl in their right mind would invite the girl who is making their crush flustered to hang out with them
but obviously yuna was not in her right mind at the moment
"i mean if only you guys are okay with it. i wouldn't mind" jake spoke, looking back and forth and the two, "i assume she is going to be closest with you yuna"
she laughed, "i don't mind" yuna looked at sunghoon, "you?"
"yah..that's fine" he awkwardly laughed, 'the hell is happening..' he thought, confused of yuna's actions
"i'll text her later then and invite her" yuna spoke
the two boys nodded before jake stood up from the chair at yuna's desk, "i should probably get home now before my mom murders me. it's already 10"
"oh! did you get out of afterschool tutoring by the way?" sunghoon asked, completely switching the topic
jake shook his head, "i haven't talked to my mom about it. i should soon though because i'm dying to get out of that class"
"that way you have more time to spend with us" sunghoon wrapped his arm around jake's shoulder and yuna chuckled
"maybe i'll stay in it" jake responded and sunghoon rolled his eyes. he looked over at yuna who had a light in her eyes, "but i guess for yuyu i'll get out of it"
"yay" she clapped her hands and stood up from her bed, "anyways, get going home"
the two boys grabbed their bags, saying bye to the girl with jake leaving the room first.
"i'm calling your dumbass tonight" sunghoon muttered to her and she rolled her eyes and nodded, shooing him away
♡
"yunaa!" a girl exclaimed as she ran towards the girl in front of her

yuna had her airpods in but she swore she heard her name. she took out one of her airpods and was going to look behind her but before she could, an arm wrapped around her shoulder.
"oh hey soovin" yuna smiled as she grabbed her airpod case and put her airpods in it, putting them into her bag
it had been about 4 days since soovin came to the school, it being friday now and jake was right; yuna and soovin became super close immediately
"yah yah!" a voice shouted and the two girls turned around to see jake and sunghoon walking towards them, "get your hands off yuna" sunghoon spoke as he neared the two, taking soovin's arm off of yuna and standing in between the two
soovin rolled her eyes, crossing his arms, "you're so immature"
"yah-!"
"what mr. didn't win class president?" soovin cut him off making jake and yuna hold in a laugh since they both knew how mad sunghoon gets over that topic
"you little-"
"you should run" yuna warned soovin and soovin quickly took off, sunghoon immediately chasing after the girl into the school
jake and yuna chuckled as they walked together, "so.." yuna began, "are you..going to be at my event next wednesday?"
jake sighed, "i'm still not sure. i'll try my best to be there though"
"as long as i know you tried to come, i'll be fine with it. you better come to one of my events in the future though" she pointed her finger at him
he nodded, holding out his pinky, "i promise" yuna looked at his hand before locking her pinky with his and the two let out a small smile towards each other
the two had reached the entrance and both soovin and sunghoon had ran back to them, stopping in front of jake and yuna, making both of them stop in their tracks and look at them
"rat.." both of them spoke at the same time, beginning to yell at each other afterwards a bunch of jumbled up words that neither jake or yuna could understand since they were speaking over each other
jake and yuna shook their heads before breaking apart the two yelling idiots in front of the school
sunghoon continued to yell at her when soovin placed her hand in front of his face, "ugh whatever" this then made him stop talking and mumble more words under his breath
jake just laughed as he looked at his watch, "oh!" he then looked at soovin, "jungwon wanted to see us before class starts. we should go"
"council?" yuna asked and jake nodded
"alright let's go then" soovin responded, glaring at sunghoon who just rolled his eyes
"see you in class" jake ruffled yuna's hair before soovin and jake walked off after saying bye
once they were far away enough, yuna turned to sunghoon, whining, "he's keeps playing!"
"let's go to class lover girl" sunghoon patted her back as the two began walking as well to their class
♡
"i completely forgot that we took this test" yuna muttered to herself as she looked down at her test score with a big '65%' in red ink on her paper

sunghoon then walked over to her, sitting in the empty seat beside her, "bad score huh?" she nodded and looked at him, asking what he had got on the test, "i got low too, 67 percent"
yuna sighed as both of them looked over at jake and soovin who were surrounded by multiple students in that class
now there were two students who got 100 percents
"must feel nice.." yuna spoke under her breath as she once again, like always, crumbled her test in her hands.
she stood up, pushing her chair out and looking at sunghoon, "i'm going to the vending machine, do you want anything?"
"no it's okay" yuna nodded as she clenched onto the test in her hands before getting out of her seat and leaving the classroom
jake noticed her leaving and she looked upset, he knew she got another bad score. jake stood up, trying to excuse himself but students kept asking him questions and he didn't want to be rude but he also wanted to go talk to yuna
as yuna was walking to the vending machine, she opened up the crumbled test and looked over the questions and the answers she put, "these questions are so stupid..." she crumbled up the test again, clenching it in her hand
after about 5 minutes of walking downstairs, yuna reached the open field where there was multiple vending machines. she walked over to the vending machine, putting in a dollar and inputting the code of the snack she wanted. it was going fine until the snack reached the end and it didn't fall
"come on!" she groaned, kicking the machine but it didn't budge at all either, "i don't win today"
she walked away from the vending machine and over to then open field where some students were playing basketball and other sports or just talking to their friends.
yuna walked over to the bleachers by the basketball court and sat down on the lowest level. she held her balled up test in her hands and slowly unfolded it again. she stared at the score and bit her lip, "no matter how much i study..i can never get a good score. i really am just stupid"
yuna stared at it for a few more seconds before crumbling up her test paper in anger, lifting her arm and tossing it.
yuna watched as the ball of paper hit a student on the head and yuna smacked herself as she saw this
the boy who got hit, held the back of his head; not in pain but just confused what had happened.
yuna slightly cursed at herself as she quickly got off of the bleachers and over to the student she accidentally hit with her test
the boy, who she hit, turned around and looked at the girl who was walking over to thm, "was that you?" he pointed at her
yuna nodded as she reached the boy, "yah sorry..it was an accident" she nervously chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck as she bent down, grabbing her test paper
she stood back up and looked at the boy who was already looking at her. he tilted his head at her then snapped his fingers, pointing at her, "oh wait!you're...bae yuna right?"
she tilted her head, "do i know you?"
"oh i just know you because well..you are the fastest runner in this school..only girl who is over 5'5 and has orange hair..i'm also friends with sunghoon and jake" he chuckled, "but also you're friends like yelling your name very loudly in the halls"
she hit herself on the forehead, "stupid soovin, sunghoon, and jake" she looked back at the boy, "so..what's your name"
"oh right! that's important. i'm lee heeseung, i'm a 3rd year"
"wait" she stopped, tilting her head again, "you're on the contemporary dance team-well, you lead that section right?"
he nodded, "so did your test score do something to you for you to throw it at me" he pointed at the test in her hand
"i'm kinda bad..at subjects so no matter how much i study i still fail. i got my test back and didn't like my score..so i went to get a snack from the machine then it got stuck so i wasted 1 dollar right now then i never wanted to see my grade again and threw it...i didn't think it would hit you" she explained
"oh! well..i can tutor you if you want" he offered, "i only have dance practice on wednesday, thursday, and friday and that's really it. i usually just go home and study but i'm ranked 2nd in my year and since i already did your stuff, i could help you if you want?"
"really??" yuna didn't expect this but she was thrilled about it, "that would be amazing- oh.." she stopped, realizing something, "i forgot, i have my friend jake tutoring me"
"he has time for that?? he seems so busy with everything he has" heeseung sighed, "he needs too take a break i swear. he pressures himself so much"
"i know. i told him he doesn't have too but he insisted on tutoring sunghoon and i" she replied
"well...i'm always here if you need help or he decides he can't tutor you anymore" he then bent down, grabbing something from the floor and standing up straight. he held out something towards yuna, "here. i know it's not a snack but..it's drink at least"
she grinned and took the strawberry-flavored drink into her hands, "thank you heeseung"
"no problem. i'll see you later" he waved bye to her before turning around and walking away from the girl so he could join his friend's basketball game
"crap he's cute too" yuna muttered to herself as she stared at the drink he had given her in her hands. she realized something before quickly taking out her phone from her blazer pocket and opening the front camera, checking to see if her ears were red and they definitely were.
she put her phone back into her blazer pocket and covered her ears with her hair before looking at the crumbled test that was in her hand, "that interaction just made my day better"
yuna walked over to a trashcan, tossing the test away and began walking back towards the building to go back to class
from a distance stood jake but far away enough so the girl would not see him with a drink in one hand as he watched her walk away with a smile on her face.

This was my entry for National Novel Writing Month, because why only write one series at a time? The more the merrier! (meanwhile, my keyboard bursts into flames...) I'm also the writer of The Last Science, an ongoing low-fantasy/speculative sci-fi series. If you're familiar with that, you know what to expect here: lots of character-focused drama and dialogue, not a whole lot of traditional action. However, I'm writing a bit differently than usual here, and in a very different structure, so there should be some surprises for returning readers. I hope you enjoy it! [Discord] — for those of you who want to hang out and chat. Cover art (fullsize): Path of Revelation, by taenaron (Tobias Roetsch), modified by Etzoli. Normally I like to do my own cover art from scratch, but I was in a rush for the contest. Might be replaced down the line if I get time. Far Strider
A college student finds himself transported into a strange land with burgeoning magical powers, and is taken in by Ned Stark. Will he sink or swim in this medieval society, and will he ever get home? ====================== OC-insert without knowledge of Game of Thrones, new planeswalker. Slow power ramp. Second crossover: Star Wars (around chapter 39). ======================= As a note, I started this as a speed writing challenge to myself. The challenge was successful, and I managed 100,000+ words (as well as some character sheets in excel and such) over 10.5 days. Then I had to stop and let my hands recover from their burgeoning carpal tunnel syndrome. The story currently stands at around 150,000 words (or ~550 RRL pages) over 54 chapters; expect a chapter a day until I've caught up with the backlog. The focus of this story was not quality writing, and that hasn't changed. I mostly use it as my semi-guilty "I need to write something, but am not focused enough to write something good" story. Expect self-indulgent writing in general, and a bit of OP (or, well, more than just a bit if we're being honest), especially later in the story as the protagonist matures into a more full-blown Planeswalker. But if you're looking for something with a power-ramping protagonist romping around the place, something you'd be a bit embarrassed to admit liking (I know I am) but like anyways (and come on, this is RRL, so that probably describes just about everyone here who actually has shame), then this may be a nice bit of mental junk food for you.
