《Ho Hey》XIX. "Purple Brings Out Your Eyes"

That was a good harry potter reference, I really liked it.
~ Karalynn's POV ~
Friday came quicker than expected and I found myself hyperventilating as the bell to go home rang, Kiana was coming over to do my hair for the date, Ashton decided to go somewhere a little fancy.
We were going to go to a library, after all it's his favorite place in the whole world and it was slowly becoming mind when he told me that the library that we were going to, has all of the Harry Potter books.
Isabella was coming over to do my makeup because Kiana doesn't really understand how to makeup, so as she took care of my curly hair, I waited for Isabella to arrive so she could do my makeup.
Surprisingly, Dana was coming over to do my nails because she's really good at them, I've seen her helping out a freshmen with their nails because they couldn't get them the way they wanted it.
Dana thinks I don't know about her little good deeds but I know, I just don't say anything because I know she's going to try to deny everything, Isabella finally arrived with her makeup bag and walked up the stairs to my room as I walked out to put my outfit on.
Isabella gave me a hug and walked into my bedroom, I walked into the bathroom and closed the door but I stared at myself in the mirror instead, I felt really nervous and felt nauseous, I didn't want anything to go wrong during the date.
When I got the dress on, I took a deep breath and zipped up my dress, seeing the way I looked in the dress almost made want to cry, I felt like a pretty princess.
Dress For Reference
I walked out of the bathroom and quickly ran to my room, my parents were in the office working on a project for their job so they didn't know that I was yet or even getting dressed for a date, Isabella's hand flew to her mouth when I walked into my bedroom, Dana smiled at me.

Kiana pretended to wipe away her fake tears as she signed compliments my way, I sat down at my vanity and allowed Isabella to do some natural make up on me, she did some blush, mascara and eyeliner.
When we finished, I sprayed some perfume on me and then put on some lip balm on because I didn't want any lip gloss or lipstick on my lips at this moment, I walked over to my shoe rack and grabbed my white new sneakers and put them on.
I laced them up and smiled at how pretty I felt, I owned heels but for a first date, I don't think they're really needed just yet, I grabbed my phone and smiled at my friends as I told them to walk me to the bus stop as my nerves began to act up once again.
Kiana grabbed my hand and kissed my knuckles as we walked down the stairs and out the door before my parents even noticed we came inside in the first place, we walked to the bus stop and from there, my friends hugged me and said their goodbyes before leaving the bus stop.
I waited for the bus to come, Ashton and I were going to meet up at the school, my heart was racing when I got on the bus.
I fiddled with the edges of my dresses and stared at the window, I didn't know what I wanted to say yet when I saw him and I'm sure that he didn't know what to say to me as well, my mind was just running everywhere else, but I had to have faith in myself.
When the bus stopped, I got off slowly and closed my eyes as the breeze smacked my face when I stepped on the concrete, I looked around but Ashton wasn't there and I felt a little piece of my hope die only because I still believed that what he wrote on the letter was a joke.

I didn't want to sit down on the bench so I just decided to walk around for a bit and stopped in front of the school, that's when Ashton came off the bus that came after mine.
We locked eyes and he smiled at me, he looked really pretty in my eyes and probably everyone else's, I walked over to him as he opened his arms and welcomed me with a warm embrace.
"You look really pretty Kara, purple brings out your eyes."
Ashton complimented me, I smiled up at him and grabbed his hand as he guided me across the street and down the block, I felt a little shy whenever I'm around him because I felt like he wouldn't like me if I made a mistake.
Ever felt like if you had one slip up, the person that love wouldn't love you anymore? I did.
"Well, we're here. Is there a section or book you want to check out?"
Ashton whispered in my ear as his hand found my waist, I looked at him with such a childish grin.
"There's one book I want to check out, Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets."
Ashton chuckled breathlessly, I looked at him and smiled as he walked with me to the section where all the magical books were, I haven't been this excited to read a Harry Potter books since I was ten.
"Looks like you got your priorities sorted."
Ashton snorted as he grabbed the book off the fourth shelf and handed it to me, I smiled at him knowing what he did.
That was a good Harry Potter reference, I really liked it.
I grinned before grabbing his hand, he interlocked our fingers and walked with me to the mystery/thriller section since those were his favorite types of books.
As we sat down at a table, I couldn't shake the feeling that he brought me to my happy place and even became my comfort person.
That's possible, right?

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
