《Ho Hey》XVIII. Asking Him On a Date
Advertisement
Well, I did shoot my shot but now I actually have to prepare myself for a date that I didn't even think was going to happen!
I've been dreading for the day to end because that meant that I had actually ask out Ashton and I wasn't prepared for that mentally, my stomach was all bubbly everytime I thought about it and I didn't like it one bit, I didn't want to ask Dana to ask him out for me because she would be so blunt about it.
But I didn't want to go alone and do it alone, I wanted to be around my best friends because I know that they were going to be supportive.
When the bell rung, I was the last person to leave the classroom because my nerves were acting up, I didn't want to get rejected in front of his friends or get rejected in front of anyone as a matter of fact but if it were to happen then I'm glad it was Ashton.
Kiana dragged me out of the classroom and had me look for the boy but I actually didn't know where he would be.
Out of instinct, I walked to the library and opened the doors before closing them gently, I looked around the aisles and tried seeing if he was sitting on the beanbags that we sat on the last time we spoke, I thought that he would be in the library cause that's like his second home.
So when I didn't see him, I sighed and walked out of the library and walked to the front door and walked out, if I didn't find him at the library then I might not text him because asking someone out over text is weird.
But as I walked down and sat down the bench, I looked at the time on my phone and then turned the phone off before sighing and waiting for the bus that was probably going to be late.

"Hey, do you mind if I sit here?"
Ashton asked me, I smiled at him and moved over so he could sit down, he pulled a book out and I decided that it was either now or never, and if I don't do it now I won't do it ever.
I decided to do it his language and pulled out my phone, I googled a poem that was a way that the author asked his wife out for a date.
"Ashton, could you read this part for me?"
I asked as I handed him my phone, he nodded and furrowed his eyebrows before reading the image that I showed him, he didn't really understand what I was doing.
"Swipe to the next photo, you'll understand better, I promise."
When he swiped to the next image, there was a photo that said 'This is me, asking you out'.
Ashton laughed as he couldn't contain his laughter until his face turned red and he started to cough, I felt embarrassed thinking that he was going to reject me.
"That was the best way anyone could ever ask me out, using my love for books to do so. I'd love to go out with you."
He smiled at me, I felt my smile grow bigger and I grabbed my phone back to place it back in my bookbag, I grabbed his hand and walked into the bus as it arrived.
We walked to the back of the bus where we shared my earbuds and listened to some soft music as he read quietly to me, I felt like a little girl being tucked into bed with the way he read to me, it was soft and gentle like he didn't want to hurt me with the words he was reading.

I got to my stop and hugged him goodbye before getting off the bus and walking home, I was nervous now as I realized that he had accepted my date and now I have to make sure that I look good.
That's when the anxiety kicked in, I didn't want to make a fool of myself during the date but I didn't know how to act because this is my first date and I didn't know what to do.
I couldn't go to my mom or dad because they would only jump to conclusions and make assumptions so I just walked inside and jogged up the stairs to my room.
The date was on Friday, I didn't know where we were going to go but I know that we were going to try and have a good time, so as I entered my room, I called Isabella and asked her to help me out.
"Why are you overthinking all of this? He said yes."
Isabella told me as she didn't understand what's with all of this panic was about which I understood because not everytime you understand why your best friend is struggling with everything.
So, I broke it down for her.
Well, I did shoot my shot but now I actually have to prepare myself for a date that i didn't even think was going to happen!
Isabella nodded as she began to help me out with my outfit choices, she told me to go with a lilac colored outfit because lilac makes me look really good, I took the advice and grabbed a lilac dress but now I just needed to my shoes.
I decided to go with cute white sneakers that I haven't worn because they were freshly new and I didn't want to dirty them or crease them.
Okay, my outfit is all set and I know what hairstyle I'm doing, I just need to mentally prepare myself, no biggie.

The Yes-Mage
Plenty of people have stopped and asked what it'd be like to simply have everything, and Sylvain Henry Camille Johansson was no different. He was a man who had a lot of things going on, with a name that'd make a supervillain blush and a family who'd make even the useless of their rank into someone important. It was a shame, then, that he was slapped with a dreadfully unfortunate condition that kept him from living up to any of those already low expectations. Stuck living a life where magic is everywhere while he's left working with nothing more than a moderate intellect, a little bit of whatever influence he could get from his family, and a lifetime's practice at making himself the ideal subordinate for his bosses' boss, Vane was still beating the odds and slowly working his way up in the world. When the cunning yes-man finally got a chance to really make a name for himself, he leapt at the offer, taking his first real step onto a road he knew he was always meant to walk. His goal? Nothing less than finding out why he and too many other unfortunate souls are barred from the wonderful world of the higher energies, and with any luck, fixing it. Of course, life has a knack for interfering in even the humblest of plans, and Vane's lofty ideals were anything but humble; he was practically a walking bullseye for disaster. The funny thing about catastrophe, though, is that nobody can ever say what form it's going to take. That’s why, when it all went wrong for Vane, he'd gotten everything he'd ever wanted foisted onto him, and Everything else, too.
