《Ho Hey》I. Summer Loving

I'll admit, you're very good looking but do you have the intelligence to back up that pretty face?
~ Karalynn's POV ~
It's July, it's been July this whole year and I've still haven't done anything with my life, all I've done is rearrange my room at three in the morning for the whole month of June.
Now it's a new month and I don't know how to make the most of it, it's like everything's so dull that it makes me want to drown myself in a pool of lemonade.
Let me stop being dramatic and introduce myself, I'm Karalynn.
Kara, or Lynn for short, I've been through a lot of awkwardness this past year and I'm still going through it, for example, I'm single and haven't had my first kiss yet.
While everyone else is getting laid, I had to babysit my little sister while my parents go out for a date, the worst part of it all is that she spoke to her Roblox boyfriend the whole time.
Like come on man, give me some love too, I'm not gonna be here forever and everyone understands that.
"Stop whining and put your bathing suit on, you're going to the beach whether you like it or not!"
Isabella shouted at me as she threw my bathing suit at me and locked the bathroom door, I hated spending the night at her house because she actually forces me to live my life, like no, don't do that.
But not wanting her to scream at me, I put the swimsuit on and walked out of her bathroom, Isabella smiled at me.
"Come on, I want to get a nice tan and I know that you'd love to go surfing."
Damn, she knows me so well, I smiled at her and grabbed her open hand before walking with her down the steps and outside of her house.

She had ordered an Uber so we didn't have to walk to the beach since her parents were busy sleeping in to take us or even notice that we were even there.
There's moments where I know how much Isabella wanted her parents to notice her existence, it's why I always feel bad for her and make sure that she gets enough love when she comes over to my house.
After all, she's an only child so there shouldn't be any child neglect going on because you only actually have one more mouth to feed.
I should stop talking about this, this isn't my business nor is it my tea to spill, although it is because Isabella and I were practically joined at the hip which meant that her business is mine but then you have to draw a line somewhere.
But you never really establish a line when you realize that you and your friend have a lot more in common than you think.
As the car drove for miles, playing sappy romance music, I closed my eyes and decided that I would take a small nap just until we get there, I didn't want to fall asleep at the surf board.
Wouldn't that be cool though? I'd be an awesome surfer, kids would wanna be me when they grow up.
"Get your nappy head off of me and wake up, we're here."
Isabella grunted as she shoved my head off of her shoulder playfully, I looked at her and rolled my eyes whilst laughing, we paid the Uber driver and walked down the sandy ground to where we wanted to sit at.
We stopped only a few feet from the ocean, since the shark sightings, barely anyone has been coming to the beach out of fear, Isabella didn't care for the sharks though.

"You scream if you need me, but if you scream, once I'm done saving you, I'm drowning you because nobody told you to go head first into danger but your stubborn self."
I looked at her in shock, she's been hanging around Dana too much to even recognize what the hell was flying out of her mouth, I just nodded and shrugged my shoulders before running to the ocean with my board glued to my arms.
Surfing is my happier moments, I knew I was good at it and I knew that I looked good going it as well.
Whilst I began to get into the water, I looked to my left to check if anyone else was coming in when I met eyes with a tall, brown haired, tanned skin boy.
Butterflies surrounded my stomach as we locked eyes, me being the first to break it, I got on my surfboard and began to paddle my way to the waves before standing on it and allowing the breeze to hit my cool, wet skin.
The way the droplets looked as the sun hit my gorgeous black skin made me feel like I was a Victoria Secret model, like nothing could bring me down from this moment.
Catching the way made my confidence and ego go higher than the space ship, I knew that when I get back to land that I would brag about this moment to Isabella and then post about it on my Twitter.
I got wiped out by the third wave because of how distracted I was by the boy I saw earlier, he was also a surfer which made my heart do little backflips, I swam back to shore with my surfboard and wringed out my hair before walking over to Isabella.
She was wearing her sunglasses as she laid on her stomach to tan her back, I let her be and settled my surfboard beside her before walking back to the ocean to collect the seashells.
"Come around here often?"
A voice appeared behind me, I looked back and smiled as it was the boy I had saw earlier.
"I live here, so yeah pretty much, but only if my friend forces me to."
I explain myself as I returned my focus to the seashells, the boy laughed and squatted down beside me to help me grab seashells.
"I'm Tanner, and this one brings out your eyes the most."
The boy introduced himself as he sucked up to me, but compliments aren't the way to get me moving, I looked at him and smiled slightly before grabbing the seashell and placing them in my bucket, yes I have a bucket.
I'll admit, you're very good looking but do you have the intelligence to back up that pretty face?
I asked breaking the ice, he looked at me and smirked before grabbing my hand.
I'm having my Sandy and Danny moment, real excited to see how this turns out.

A Prose of Years
For decades, spiritualist Evert Kallstrom and his team have joined in humanity’s millennia-long fight against the beasts. Wielding their weapons and their ki, they fought and killed these great threats to civilization. And yet, despite their efforts, humanity was losing traction in the war. In the last fifty years alone, more cities had been overrun than in all of known history. While most thought the great beasts natural, a few knew the terrible truth. They were the product of a dark lord, who desired neither fame nor wealth nor power. Instead, his sole purpose was the genocide of humanity. While their peers dithered, a small faction of the strongest mankind had to offer—including Evert Kallstrom and his team—set out towards the Deadlands to find and confront this dark lord. After weeks of travel, twenty-one spiritualists found themselves approaching an ancient fortress wherein rested a being known only as the Eastern Guardian. All they found was death. But death has other plans for Evert. Evert bolts awake in his 16 year old body near his hometown, decades in the past. He is confused, poor and weak. But with grit, sweat, and years of experience, he won't let the future repeat itself. That level of strength won't be enough by itself (it wasn’t last time) and victory is hardly assured (he’ll need to reach farther and higher than he ever did), but Evert refuses to squander a second chance. [Other tags: First Person POV, Hard Magic, Faulty Memory] Volume 1 is complete and has been fully released. My current intention is not to write any sequel volumes. That said, I have also released appendices (SPOILERS) that cover the worldbuilding and future story-that-never-was. Comments suggesting fixes for grammar, misspellings, etc. appreciated. Note: If you came here from Candlelit Lives, these stories have nothing in common.
