The thud that resounds in a quiet room

That fighting muscle alive in its tomb

It's rhythm seems so melodic

Your ear flush, your eyes hypnotic

Oh how the blood burns when you are near

I find joy and then I sense my own fear

I'll never let you go, yet you slip right through

I know I can't fight, though you want it too

I've only ever retreated

I know that fighting ends in me defeated

I look ahead and watch you go

Yet living in the past makes it so slow

Finality comes without knowing it's arrived

That hope of a future with you now deprived

I cry out as my mind is in such pain

I look to the sky and so cries the rain
