《Broken [A Dramione story] [COMPLETED]》Chapter 6

Draco was the first to move into the flat his mother had prepared for him and Hermione. About a week after he got out of the hospital, she had forced him to move out of his old rented flat and bring all his belongings into the new one. He reached the place at noon.
The flat was in a building situated in a wizarding part of London, close to the Leaky Cauldron. The entire ground floor consisted of a library, its entrance facing the main street. Right above it stretched Narcissa's flat, or better called, Draco and Hermione's.
The space was split into three, rather large, sections and it seemed big enough for two flats. In the middle, and having access to the entrance, was the common living area. The living room occupied most of the middle part of it, with comfortable looking armchairs, a big couch and a huge square black box thing attached to the wall in front of the couch. Draco knew not what it was, but he felt it looked ominous. He gave it a glare when he passed it by on his way to the next part of the house and tried to push it out of his mind for now.
The kitchen, though not very big, seemed to be fully equipped for both muggle and wizarding use. Draco frowned slightly, pondering. He'd never been a big fan of kitchens. He was never allowed into the kitchen at Malfoy Manor and he never felt a dying urge to go and visit it without permission. House elves took care of his meals and that's where his interest in kitchens ended ever since he was a kid.
Walking past the kitchen, Draco reached a glass double door, tall from floor to ceiling, that appeared to open to a balcony. He reached the door and pushed it open. The balcony was longer than he expected it to be, but rather narrow. It did have a couple of comfortable looking chairs and a coffee table between them. Draco concluded this was a nice enough spot to relax and unwind.
He stood there for a moment, inhaling the air and taking in the sight before him. The sky was a bright blue and a warm breeze blew his hair around his forehead. The street bellow was almost deserted, barely anyone could be seen walking around at that time, as it was still early in the day and people were at work. With one last deep breath and quick gaze around, Draco entered the flat and closed the door behind him.

To the left of the common room, Draco noticed a small hallway and a black, impressive mahogany door at the end of it. That had to be his room, Draco recognized the color of the door to be the exact one he had back at Malfoy Manor.
Mother, Draco said in his mind, letting a small smile appear on his lips.
Before going towards his room, Draco glanced at the opposite side of the common room. There was also a small hallway that ended with a door, but this one was a reddish colored one, like it was made of cherry tree wood.
That must be Granger's, he thought.
Draco scoffed upon seeing this courtesy his mother was trying to show Hermione by first placing muggle kitchenware and now choosing a door that had Hermione's house color. It was way too much consideration in his opinion. Feeling annoyed, he looked away from the red door and turned towards the black one. He opened it slowly and stepped into his bedroom.
Draco had expected his mother to make sure he'll feel comfortable, even though he had assured her that he'd managed with much less back in his old flat, but she would hear none of it. Even so, the room he just entered surprised him more than he had anticipated. At first glance Draco noticed the room wasn't just a bedroom, but also contained a small study room. The bedroom part, to the left, was spacious and it was furbished almost like the one he had at the Manor, without the opulence though. The bed was big, covered with green covers and white pillows. Two small nightstands were placed on each side of the bed.
The study room was situated in front of a big row of windows, that let the autumn light in through delicate semitransparent drapes. The desk was simple, made of a black wood and it resembled the one his father, Lucius had at the Manor, but smaller. There were sheets of parchment and quills, neatly placed on its surface.
There was also a fireplace, that seemed to occupy half of the right-side wall. Facing it there were two black leather armchairs and a small couch, with a silvery white carpet underneath.

Draco took in the room and nodded, smiling to himself, pleased of his mother's choice of decorations. Apparently, his entreaties he made to his mother to keep it simple had some degree of success. This entire space was simple, yet elegant and comfortable.
Then a door on the far left of the room attracted Draco's attention. He reached it in a few strides and opened it slowly, peering inside. There, he saw a bathroom, with a large bathtub in the middle and a shower cabin in the far back. The colors were a beautiful mixture of dark green and silver.
Pleased with this part of his living space as well, he closed the door and headed to the fireplace. With a flick of his wand he lit the fire and slumped into one of the armchairs. He felt tired and a subtle streak of nervousness was starting to ebb into his mind. She was supposed to arrive in a few hours. His mother had told him that she confirmed the hour a day before and that was the main reason he wanted to arrive early. Now, he dreaded the moment.
With a loud groan he grabbed his head with his hands, pulling slightly at his hair.
,,Why is this happening to me?" he said in a strangled voice.
Knowing he won't receive an answer anytime soon, Draco leaned his head back into the armchair, covering his eyes with one arm. Different and confusing thoughts, one more painful than the other, kept tugging at his mind.
,,How am I supposed to look at her?" he continued to talk to himself. ,,I saw her getting tortured in my house, in front of me. She yelled and screamed in pain and all I could do was watch. I hated her while in school. I think I still do. Not only that but I also..."
His solitary ramble was suddenly cut off by a loud popping noise. Apparition sound.
Granger, Draco's mind supplied.
Hermione had arrived. Draco felt the color drain from his already pale face and his insides lurched. He felt sick.
,,She's here. She's here..." he kept saying in a panicked whisper.
Draco looked positively terrified. His eyes were wide and almost manic, and he kept wringing his hands, trying to make them to stop shaking. He was breathing hard and out of rhythm.
Willing himself to get up, he reached the door and slowly cracked it open, stopping to listen. He caught his breath, trying to catch another noise coming from the common room. Then he heard footsteps closer to the hallway that reached his room and, with panic rising, he snapped the door shut. Draco backed away quickly, casting a silencing charm, all the while looking at the door with trembling eyes, as if frightened it would be blown away any second. But nothing happened.
,,Stupid fool! You're acting like a bloody fool, Draco Malfoy", he berated himself, sliding into an armchair, closing his eyes, pressing a hand against them.
He couldn't help it thought. The bravado he'd shown at the hospital days ago was mostly due to anger and frustration. At the time he felt to be at his lowest and to have Hermione Granger of all people, coming upon him just then, triggered a strong reaction in him. He disliked her and everything about her, there was no doubt in his mind about that, but somehow, at that moment in the hospital he felt very uncomfortable, almost... insecure.
He frowned against his hand and let out an annoyed grumble.
Draco Malfoy, feeling insecure? What has the world come to?
This is exactly why he had started consuming those substances after the war. It made it easier to create and maintain the harsh, cold and impassible appearance of a Slytherin pure-blooded Death Eater. It had started to become more and more difficult to do so as the time passed, and he kept recalling all the evil things he's seen. Now, without them, he felt too vulnerable, too... human.

Ph. D. In Sorcery
Follow Anastasia, the unlucky physicist turned wizard, as her reality gets turned upside down and she is plunged into a world of gods, magic, swords, and adventure. Short and sweet description, anything more would be a spoiler and I detest those. Now, what you can expect from reading: This is my first time writing, or better said allowing someone else to read that mess so don’t raise your expectations too much. Still, I will try to keep the story flowing, while also devoting as much time as I can to editing. In my opinion, the story is written at a faster pace than normal with time skips here and there. I will do my best to not allow the faster pace to ruin the story by using those time skips to raise the skill of the main character. I am mainly looking for feedback while I test myself in new and unexplored waters. I did put a lot of thought into worldbuilding and the magic system, it is something that has been mulling inside my head for years before I sat down to write anything down. First and foremost I am an engineer and not a writer. I will try to do my utmost to make the world logical and consistent, but sometimes I might not express that in a way that’s clearly understood. I have a rough outline with several possible endings, but the story will change and evolve as I do. But in case I have to stop for whatever reason, the story will get an ending. It will be done even if I have to send coded messages from a bunker. I am a big fan of the Dresden Files so you can be certain that everything mentioned will in most cases be used, with a few red herrings sprinkled in the mix. But that also means I will enjoy putting the main character through the meat grinder while I eat popcorn and laugh from my evil lair. Physics, and to be more precise electromagnetism, quantum field theory, general and special relativity are very interesting topics for me that I research in my spare time. That means that the premise of the story will be using that research to bring logic to magic. Stupid I know, magic is magic, but to me, there is no reason why there shouldn’t be a concrete set of rules there. But it is still magic and that allows me to play with some things that shouldn’t normally be possible. I will focus on evolving the main character and having her react as anyone normal would, from my perspective. There will be scenes of battle, gore, and sexy times, but I will not go into too many details, counting on your imagination to fill the gaps. There will be plenty of combat, even battles ranging from a few dozen, a hundred, and thousands of participants. I could go on but there isn’t much to say that would convince anyone to read, either you thought the title was cool or you liked the poster. Or not, but after several days in photoshop, that’s the best I could do. And the title was originally Sorceress with a Ph.D. The new one makes a little less sense but I like the ring of it more for some reason. I just hope someone enjoys what I write as much as I do. In the end that is the reason, I am doing this, because I enjoy putting my thoughts on paper and seeing the outcome. Credit for the art: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/e0o8nw

"In a lot of ways, Snotlout is very much Spitelout's son," said Freda. Torben did not need to see her face to hear in her voice that she wanted to say more. Torben turned his face toward the sun, the heat of it warming his skin though his world remained dark. "Even without my sight I could see that. Why else do you think I would encourage and allow his frequent visits here." --- He was brash, cocky, and way too self-confident for it to be real but he had gotten her out of the tree. She was older than him, taller than him, and had an annoying habit of seeing through his bluffs but she had stitched him up. What happens when Sigyn and Snotlout strike up an unusual friendship? And what happens when Snotlout goes away to The Edge with the other Dragon Riders and she stays behind? Will their friendship remain intact, fade away, or possibly change into something neither was expecting? Just see if I don't make a Snotlout fan of you by the end.
