After coming down from the Thousand Beast Grave Mountains, Yun Sheng headed back home.

After the day of the Heavenly Dog Eclipse, the sun appeared to be more dazzling than usual. The villagers who had hidden themselves came out of their homes. The village had returned to its usual peaceful days.

Yun Cang Hai wasn't at home. Presumably, he was most likely at the tavern again.

Yun Sheng changed out of the clothes that had been torn by the branches from the mountains. The small wounds on her hands were already healed.

That beast ring was still worn on her tiny fingers. Except, due to the stain from the blood, the color of the ring had changed to a dark red hue.

Yun Sheng didn't care. She pulled out a thick pharmacopoeia hidden in a wooden box under her bed and started to research for information about the moonlight grass.

The medical book preserved by the Yun family is much larger than the general pharmacopoeia. Although thick, the book wasn't heavy and carried an ancient atmosphere to it. The book consisted nearly a thousand pages and it isn't known what type of material it was made from for it to be extremely well-preserved.

Yun Sheng was certain that even the village library's medical book couldn't even be compared to her family's.

From what Yun Sheng knows, Yun Cang Hai wasn't all that familiar with medicine. This medical book must've been left behind by her deceased mother.

For some unknown reason, Yun Cang Hai doesn't often mention his deceased wife. This medical book had long been covered with dust.

Wuji Continent's medical system was extremely complicated. It was divided into two categories: ancient medicine and magical treatment.

Magical treatment was related to the use of magic. According to the rumors, only magicians at the municipal level or above are able to do this. Known as the divine magic, only the continents imperial family and nobles, some influential families' younger generation as well as a few outstanding geniuses had the opportunity to learn this.

Yun Sheng was incapable to sense the magical elements, was merely a simple civilian ah. She simply was unable to come in contact with magical treatments.

Fortunately, she had the medical knowledge from her past life. Although she was incapable of learning how to conduct magical treatments, she still could learn ancient medical treatments!

Ancient medicine was divided into two categories: one based on herbal medicine and the other refining. Yun family's medical book was just a pharmacopoeia that had a of information on the basic herbs.

This medical book, named Wang Cao Gang Yao (Ten Thousand Grass Points), was similar to the traditional oriental Chinese herbal medical books. It mainly introduces various different types of herbs: names, characteristics, effects, appearance, etc.

At around age 2 or 3, after becoming familiar with most of the continent's words and language, she had already started to learn the basics of medicine.

After reading through dozens of pages, Yun Sheng came across the page about the moonlight grass.

"Moonlight grass, non-toxic, tastes spicy, had an appearance that was similar to ordinary weeds. It is a type of herb that assists with magical cultivation. Growing in damp and sultry places, the moonlight grass can be directly consumed or become dried and used as moonlight grass tea. The effect is also good through this way ah". After reading Yun Sheng took out a few of the moonlight grass she had picked.

During daytime, the moonlight grass appeared to be transparent. Yun Sheng swallowed a leaf of the moonlight grass, only felt that it tasted like a pepper which of course was extremely spicy.

Yun Sheng sat down, crossed her legs, and started to meditate the way how Jiao Ye Village's temple taught.

This type of cultivation was the most commonly used method for magicians to refine their magic and grow stronger.

Ever since Yun Sheng was three years old, she had took part in the Initiation Ceremony for the very first time and learned the way of cultivation like the other children in the village.

Most children needed to rely on spiritual crystals to concentrate and enter the state of meditation because they were young and were easily distracted.

However Yun Sheng was different. She only participated in the ceremony once and had already learned how to cultivate.

The time that Yun Sheng took to cultivate in comparison to normal people was a lot faster! She didn't need the help of the spirit crystal and was still able to enter the state for cultivation.

This was because Yun Sheng was a doctor in her past life. As a doctor, she needed to always maintain a high level of concentration.

Inside the Yun family's home, Yun Sheng sat on top of her bed alone. The brightness of the sun and the songs of the bird all disappeared.

It was as if she was alone in the darkness.

While Yun Sheng meditated, she recalled that the Village grandfather had mentioned about the concepts behind magic.

On this continent, there were 4 magical elements that existed: wind, earth, water, and fire. All were separated into different colors accordingly: wind-green, earth-yellow, water-blue, and fire-red.

Everyone one was different and their affinity to their magical element also varied.

Generally speaking, a person's temperament and elemental affinity will affect how one perceives the magical elements around them.

For example, a person with a strong temper had the strongest affinity and best ability to capture the fire elements around them. If one's temperament was more flexible, their perception of the water elements would become stronger. A sensitive and adaptive person are more keen of the wind elements around them. Sincere and honest people are naturally born with the ability to easily perceive and obtain the earth elements around them.

However, their ability to perceive and the level that they can perceive at isn't completely related to personality. In some circumstances, rare occurrences can happen. For example the village leader grandpa has both an affinity for wind and water.

In the past three years, Yun Sheng wasn't able to perceive anything around her - only darkness. After consuming the moonlight grass, she had noticed a change in the atmosphere around her.

Vaguely, in the dark, countless spots of lights floated around here.

So many small spots, similar to that of a cluster of stars at night. More and more spotlights appeared in that cluster, gradually occupying all the available space in the cultivation space Yun Sheng was in.

Red spots, similar to the shade of fresh lava out of a volcano, were bouncing up and inside Yun Sheng's space.

Village leader grandpa had said before that the higher the affinity to an element, the higher the magical talent.

What use to be a sea of darkness was suddenly occupied by a lot of fire elements in the air. Such a drastic change has made the typical calm Yun Sheng to can't help but feel ecstatic.

The fire element out of all four elemental magic was the most fierce. At the same time, it was the most offensive too.

Yun Sheng remembered that when she had first transmigrated into Wuji Continent, Yun Cang Hai, her father released a sea of fire attacks.

Perhaps because of her father's affinity to fire, had she inherited the magical physique for fire.

After being elated for a while, Yun Sheng proceeded onto the next step of cultivation.

The very first step of becoming a magician was to feel and perceive the magical element which meant that Yun Sheng had finally succeeded in going on the road to becoming a magician.

Even if one is able to perceive the magical elements, they still can't become magicians. Yun Sheng still needed to condense all of the fire spots around her into one big ball of flame and store it within her body.

As long as the body can accumulate and store the magical element, Yun Sheng would be able to advance from being a magician's apprentice to becoming a magician at the first level.

Carefully using her spirit power, Yun Sheng guided the red elements to gather and compress.

Just as Yun Sheng was about to succeed after gather all of the fire elements together, all of them suddenly disappeared into thin air as if an invisible hand swept them away.

In Yun Sheng's sea of consciousness, her concentration as if being repeatedly hit by a hammer shattered like a glass. In a split second, Yun Sheng's complexion suddenly became a deathly white. As Yun Sheng opened her eyes, determination and pain flashed through them.

The cultivation had failed.

FAILED!!!

The most important step in advancing from a magician apprentice to directly becoming a magician was accumulating all of the magical elements into one sphere after perceiving the magical elements around her. However Yun Sheng had failed.

She didn't understand where she went wrong.

Why can't the fire elements accumulate in her body?

The side effects of a failed cultivation was dreadful. After failing in cultivation, one wouldn't be able cultivate immediately afterwards. This meant that Yun Sheng wouldn't be able to continuously cultivate the next day.

She didn't notice that just at that moment, the beast ring on her had flashed and was restored to its original color.

With a heavy heart (moody), Yun Sheng once again swallowed another moonlight grass. She washed the remaining moonlight grass and sun-dried them.

In the next few days, Yun Sheng once again cultivated several times while Yun Cang Hai wasn't there.

Every time she cultivated, she was able to perceive more and more of the fire element. Finally at the critical moment of condensing the red spots into one, they all vanished without expectation.

After a few days had passed, Yun Sheng still couldn't accumulate the fire spots in her body. The day that Jiao Ye Village Temple of Magic would choose an assistant was almost here!
