The morning was uncomfortable, to say the least. As Y/N got ready to see her therapist, the creature traced her every step, wearing that human face that she struggled to look at for long periods without feeling betrayed and depressed. Pilvrich said no words and wore no emotion on his face, just stood behind her as she ate her breakfast and made herself somewhat presentable. At least he kept a good distance, though for obvious reasons, she wished he wasn't behind her at all. The ride there was just as uneasy, from the odd expression on her father's face to the creature sitting calmly behind the driver's seat as though he were a normal passenger. Y/N chewed on the skin around her nails as she forced herself to look out the window, but even then, she couldn't escape the image of Pilvrich in the reflection. He stared at her from the corner of his eye for some time before directing his attention forward until they reached their destination. They didn't even have to wait long in the waiting room before the girl was called into Mrs. William's office.

Like usual, she sat stiffly on the semi-comfortable sofa before being joined by the creature, who normally would've hidden in some crevice around the room to build her paranoia. It felt strange having him sit out in the open like this. She wished he'd at least move to the farther end of the couch, but stayed silent, nonetheless. Maybe he would've listened to the request now that he had a fondness for her, but there is another person in the room analyzing everything. That left her more anxious.

"Good morning, Y/N. How are you today?" asks the older woman as she faces the girl with a smile that was borderline weary. Y/N didn't notice it anyways due to her head being lowered to view the trembling hands resting on her lap. She wrung them nervously and slightly parted her quivering lips to speak, however, all that came out were the monster's favorite sounds, squeaks. For once, the Boogeyman felt no enjoyment hearing them. With a small hum, Mrs. Williams reclined in her chair.

"It's come to my attention that Keith passed away recently." Sharply, Y/N's teeth sunk into her bottom lip, drawing a few spots of blood as her hands tightened their pressure around each other. "I imagine you must be upset about that. You two were dating, weren't you?" Stiffly, the younger woman nods, her tears flooding her eyes. "Do you want to tell me what happened?"

"W- We were h- having a date," she croaks out in a soft whisper. "A- A- And he attacked me." The scribbling of a pen gliding across a pad of paper caught her attention, and she was sure the therapist was taking notes of their session. She often did, so Y/N ignored it and wiped her watery eyes on her sleeve, the blood from her lip leaving a small stain on it. The sight of crimson made her ill.

"That must've been scary for you. Do you know why he did that?" The younger woman began rocking in her seat, her heartbeat picking up as she brought her hand to her shoulder, where she had been stabbed by the fork the blonde used against her. Reliving it all in her head again made her tears pour over, but she answered.

"He got angry. I d- dropped a cup, and he told me I wasn't doing anything right. He ch- chased me. He wouldn't let me leave." Hyperventilating, the girl began pulling at her hair. Her chest felt as though it were being constricted by a large snake. Alerted by the frantic behavior, the professional stood from her seat, careful not to move too suddenly, and opened a drawer in her desk to take out a squishy, blue stress ball. After Y/N's nightmare about the teddy bear, Frank, devouring her, she didn't want to be anywhere near a stuffed animal in fear that they would get ruined for her too; therefore, her comfort fidget toy had to be changed. After retrieving the toy, Mrs. Williams crouches beside her patient before offering it with a kind smile.

"Breathe with me. In, one two three four," she counted, and Y/N struggled to follow as she vigorously squeezed the stress ball in her hand. "Hold, two three four. Out, two three four five six." This repeated until Y/N calmed enough to talk again, and then, abruptly, she stopped squeezing the ball and sat completely still. The therapist noted the sudden change as she sat back in her chair.

"P- Pilvrich," she called his name with deep sorrow as a dull look invaded her E/C eyes.

"Your tutor?" she recalls. To confirm, Y/N nods.

"He came. He... He did it. He was the monster. All along, he was the monster. He killed him," she rambles on. Humming again, Mrs. Williams writes in her little book, wearing a slight frown.

"And the monster, is it here right now?" E/C eyes flick to the left, where the creature sits, and he meets her gaze briefly. "Is he beside you?" She nods and lowers her head once more. Now, this was curious. Though she was tense, she was not nearly as frightened as she usually would be. She had greater reactions to him being all the way across the room, but him being this close caused hardly any reaction. "And does he look the normal way or like Pilvrich right now?"

"P- Pilvrich," she stutters out, getting an odd feeling about that question which filled her with unease. Fervently, the therapist wrote again, and the beast narrowed his eyes with a huff. The sound made the girl flinch. She didn't understand the look he was giving the other woman, but it certainly wasn't an expression of joy. Brushing it off, Y/N went on to describe running home after the discovery and the interaction of Keith's father showing up on their doorstep, and for a brief moment while chewing on her nails, she wondered if she should mention the conversation of Pilvrich's fondness. She met his gaze momentarily, which gave off an uncaring appearance, so she told the older woman what he had told her, that the nightmares are to end. He does not care what she confesses to this woman. She'll still come off as crazy in the end, unfortunately for her.

"And, do you believe him?" Y/N paused for a long while.

"I think... Maybe? He didn't make me a nightmare last night." She starts to strangle the ball in her hand, her conflicted emotions showing on her face. Y/N wasn't sure whether or not this would just be a phase. If the creature ever came to the conclusion that his emotions were fleeting or misinterpreted, he'd go right back to scaring her, no question about it. She fears such an outcome, but she also fears his newfound kindness.

He isn't trustworthy enough. She couldn't trust a single thing he does, no matter how nice it might be. At any moment, things could return to that awful state. Pilvrich gave her a look, but said nothing. Mrs, Williams, on the other hand, gives a drawn-out sigh while bringing a hand to her mouth. She lets it drop to her lap before putting down her pen.

"Y/N, it's been a long time that we've had these sessions. I've gotten to know you pretty well, and I must say that your behavior is... Well, strange to me. Your condition, all of it. Just last week you were happy and smiling without a single stutter, but now... I know it's something you don't want to hear, but I think I should tell you that there is not much else I can do. There are facilities that can help you in far better ways than I can—" Abruptly, Y/N jumped to her feet with fists clenched at her sides and eyes narrowed, silencing the woman immediately.

"I know what you're talking about, and there's no way in hell I'm going to a nut house!" she exclaims with tears in her eyes, shocking Mrs. Williams completely. She had never shouted like this before; it even intrigued Pilvrich. Her eyes were filled with tears of frustration. Why couldn't someone understand just once?

"I am not crazy. Why won't anyone believe me?" Y/N couldn't take it. Her feet moved quickly out of the room, palms over her ears, as Mrs. Williams called for her to stop. She didn't listen. She didn't want to be there anymore. She didn't want to hear this. Pilvrich was far less panicked about her reaction, knowing it was well justified, but that didn't make his chest ache any less. Right when she was about to leave through the waiting room door, a pair of arms grabbed ahold of her frail body, wrapping firmly around her waist and pulling her back, which led her to kick and flail her arms. Over her screaming shouted the frantic voice of her father.

"Y/N! Y/N! It's okay! It's okay! Breathe! Breathe! It's just me!" After a bit, her legs collapsed out from under her as she broke down, melting out of his arms and onto the floor while covering her face.

"I did nothing wrong. I didn't," she whispered, but no one seemed to hear as a soothing hand rubbed up and down her back.

"Deep breaths." F/N tried his best to settle his daughter and ignore the stares of other patients as Mrs. Williams showed herself in the doorway of her office.

"Mr. L/N, may I have a word with you?" Looking over at her, he nods his head and helps the girl to her feet to bring her to an unoccupied chair.

"Wait right here for me, okay? As soon as we're done, we'll go home, all right?" Forcing a smile, the man helps wipe away her tears after plucking a few tissues out of a nearby tissue box sitting on a table. "Don't run off." Y/N nods, sniffling, and after he disappears behind the door, Pilvrich sat down beside her in the next chair. He faces her with a gentle look in his eyes and a hardly noticeable frown on his lips.

"Y/N—"

"Don't talk to me," she orders in a low croak, swiftly cutting of what he was about to say. Her hands rose to her face, covering it entirely, as she let out heart-wrenching sobs. This made the man's frown deepen a tad, but it was still unnoticeable to her.

"Don't cry, mouse." Y/N jumped upon feeling a hand on her back and immediately pulled herself away from him out of spite. He's the reason she's like this in the first place. She doesn't want his comfort. This causes the creature to give a rough sigh as he watched her grip her arms hard enough that her nails sunk into her sleeves and tremble. "Don't be stubborn. Allow me to comfort you. I understand you don't want that from me, not anymore, but it's quite clear you need it. Pretend, if you must. I can be anyone you'd like me to be: your mother, your father—"

"Shut up." His victim glares into his silver eyes through tears. She didn't want him changing shape into one of them. If he did, she'd never be able to tell if her parents are really her parents or him in disguise. To have that thought in her head would mess her up more than her current state, and she couldn't take that. She can't take any more deceptions. "P- Please, shut up."

'How pitiful,' he thought while leaning towards her and pulling the girl into a comforting embrace anyways. She wanted to squirm away at first until the familiar sensation of a pleasant tingle running down her back caused her body to stiffen. Her ragged breathing eased just slightly as she reminisced those loving hugs he would give her as her tutor, but felt a sharp pang in her heart soon after. Though she now knows his true identity, that comparison broke her. Lips wavering, Y/N whimpered softly and clutched the fabric of his shirt as she would before this all happened, though she refrained from making her actions too obvious to onlookers. She had to remind herself he could not be seen by them.

Y/N sobbed harder, releasing all her emotions onto him as she hid in the crook of his pale neck. She did not want him to view her face and taunt her for crying like a child, as he would in the past, but he would do no such thing to her now. His skin was cool against her hot cheeks in an almost soothing way as his hands traveled up and down her back in slow motions. To relax her more, he hummed a quiet lullaby into her ear that formed deep vibrations in his chest. Had they been at home, Pilvrich would've forced her to sleep to satisfy her in a made up world of his creation, but now isn't the time for that.

He'd have to be patient until they were in a more private place. All eyes were on her from the other people in the waiting room. Thankfully, the young woman was too caught up in her emotions to notice them. It would've only worsened the situation if she payed them any mind. Her thoughts were completely occupied.

Y/N was heartbroken and betrayed— Not only by him, but everyone around her. He was surprised her body didn't give out then and there from the devastation. For her to cling to him, even after knowing who he is, meant she was in dire distress. She had no hope left in her. It was a sight he knew well and had seen in many of his victims before they took their lives.

That would not happen this time, however. Y/N knew what would happen if she took that route, and that was something she didn't want. All he can do is attempt to soothe her, and at this point, she seemed fine with that. She didn't want it, but she needed it. No one knew the truth, aside from them.

Only her greatest enemy believed her— over her parents, over her therapist, over anyone. How cruel. How very cruel. Why did it have to be him who could give her the comfort she needed? It wasn't right. It wasn't fair. She wanted to punch him, scream at him, throw all her hatred at him at once but, instead, fell weak in his arm.

She is not that person. She isn't violent, which is why she was so upset about this whole thing. How could anyone think she was a killer, that she had the capability of hurting anyone. She couldn't even fight back when her boyfriend had attacked her or stab a knife into her terrorizer, even when he stood on his knees, chest bared and ready to accept punishment for his evil deeds. She wanted it all to end, but it never would. She could never escape this hell. Time was lost until F/N finally left the therapist's office with a depressed look on his face as he walked up to his his daughter, who lifted her head at the sound of his footsteps.

"Come on, Y/N. Let's go home now."

Hope you enjoyed the chapter, everyone!

I just wanted you to tell you all some important news, so please, continue reading this note for me while I explain. I started a Quotev account some time ago, since Wattpad was deleting some of my books, so if you've been looking for them, that's where they are posted. Keep in mind that the account is still new, so I haven't been able to post everything yet, but I plan to put all the books I have here as well. Now, I don't expect Wattpad to delete any more of my books, but if they do, or if they do something else to upset me, I more than likely will be deleting this account entirely and moving to Quotev completely, which is why it's so important that you follow me there.

This is a worst-case scenario. As I said, I don't expect them to screw me over again, but I've given them too many chances already. I'm trying to reach as many of you as possible so that you're all informed in case I decide to, you know, drop off the face of the earth. Anyways, the account is under the same username: Goldenscares666

And, if you need the link, here's that too:

https://www.quotev.com/Goldenscares666

Again, this is just a precaution. Still, I'd really appreciate it if you followed me there.

Thank you for reading,

~Golden~
