Poor, poor Y/N. How betrayal can haunt a person. To have loved only to find everything she knew was a lie. The boy she found so sweet and understanding ended up a crazy, anger-filled maniac who attempted to kill her. The man who she had cared for as her protector and tutor had ended up the very monster she sought to get rid of. She felt as though no one could be trusted ever again. Sadly, her pain has not ended, and her story continues its journey through the valley of sorrows. In the murk lies a new threat about to dig its way into her life. Poor, poor Y/N. It's as though the universe has cursed her...

That morning was a dreary one to match her mood, shrouded by dark skies threatening to pour down rain at any given moment, but for now, it is still. The girl felt no chill of the beast's gaze. He was not around, which was one thing to be thankful for. She could not help but dread thinking about when they'll meet again at night. No more nightmares, he says. Well, if that is true, then what will he do next? Pleasant dreams? Ha! How can she trust that? She moves slow through her routine, changing out of her sleepwear, then brushing her teeth and hair even though she lacked the energy. Her eyes were empty, glossy, like those of a doll. She only snapped out of it when a man came knocking on the front door, loudly and harshly followed by incoherent shouting. The sound made her shriek and fall to the floor with a hand over her frantic heart. She was not the only one startled this time, however. Even her parents had been surprised by the violent rapping.

"What in the world?" F/N, on-guard, goes to check it out with M/N right behind him, while Y/N remains on the upper floor, near the top of the stairs, peering around the corner to spy. Her trembling fingers cling to the wall as they open the door, revealing Keith's father on the other side. The blonde stands there, face bright red with anger and bloodshot eyes full of tears. This caught everyone off-guard.

"Where is she?! Where the fuck is she?!" He exclaims, about to march into the house uninvited only for M/N to block his way with a stern face.

"What is the meaning of this?" She tries to speak calmly to get the man to settle down, but it did nothing to settle his fury.

"Your daughter killed my fucking son!" At that, the whole room silenced. Even breaths were held in momentarily as his words sunk in. Y/N felt as though her soul had been sucked from her body as she fell to the floor again, hand over her mouth and eyes tearing up in disbelief.

'No... No!' She had been so caught up with the Boogeyman that she didn't even think about what had happened to Keith. She had seen him foaming at the mouth before falling limp. Perhaps, she thought he had merely fainted, but still, it was pushed to the back of her mind after she found out the truth about Pilvrich.

"Now, hold on a minute! Y/N would never do such a thing, and what do you mean? Keith is dead?" Both parents were greatly confused by the situation. They recalled how Y/N came running into the house yesterday, but figured that the date had not gone well or that something scared her. Though, now knowing that her boyfriend is dead, a small seed of doubt had implanted in their brains, but she had never been violent towards others. This made them not so quick to believe it was her to have done it.

"I came home yesterday to find my son dead on the floor, and I know it was her fault! She was the only other person in the house! It's the only explanation!"

"You must have it wrong! Those two were so sweet to each other. I'm telling you, there's no way she would've done something like that!" M/N defends. Y/N covers her ears before curling up. Panicked, she starts to hyperventilate and dares to peek around the wall again, internally praying that her mom and dad will be able to convince the man of her innocence. She gasps and quickly retreats, hiding behind the wall again, after accidentally locking eyes with the furious man. The blonde points to the top of the staircase, where he had seen her head and shouts even louder.

"You little bitch! What the hell did you do to my son?!" He attempts to shove past the two again, but M/N intervenes by forcing him back with a shove.

"Don't you ever talk to my daughter that way! Go! Leave! You're not welcome here!" The man shakes his head in disbelief, laughing bitterly.

"I'll be back, and I'll be sure that whore is put away for the rest of her goddamn life!" He swears before turning away and leaving. His threat only worsened the young woman's state, causing her to vigorously scratch at her arms, digging through the fabric of her sweatshirt to leave marks on her skin. The sting kept her mind occupied, and so, she continues doing it again and again while saying,

"I didn't do it. I didn't do it. I didn't do it," on repeat, her voice hushed and her eyes wide with trepidation. When the door shuts, M/N and F/N exchange worried looks before coming upstairs to check on their frightened daughter. Their movements are slow and quiet as to not alarm her. Both stare down at her before F/N decides to sit in front of the girl, being sure to leave enough space between them.

"It's all right, now. He's gone. He's not going to hurt you. Breathe, honey, okay? Can you breathe slowly for me?" Y/N whimpers softly, slowing her scratching and struggling to breathe through her sobbing. The man frowns as she continues to rub at the marks she undoubtedly left and cautiously stretches out his arms towards her. "Can I see your hands?" He awaits her compliance patiently as they travel onto his larger hands and gives them a gentle squeeze to assure her she is safe. He felt a pain in his heart feeling the vibrations racking through her body. "Shh, just keep breathing."

"Are you hungry, Y/N? I just made some cookies. Would you like to have some?" M/N suggests, hoping to detour the girl's distressed thoughts to calm her. Sniffling, she nods, but still struggles to relax her breathing.

"All right, come on. Let's get you some cookies. I'm going to help you up now. On three, okay? One, two, three." F/N helps his daughter stand, being extra careful not to pull too hard, and brings her closer so that she can use him as a crutch to go down the stairs. "That's it. One step at a time. You can do it. Almost there," he encourages on the way to the living room as M/N grabs the sweets from the kitchen. Y/N chews on her nails in the meantime.

"They're still warm," she announces while bringing in the tray, a forced smile on her lips as she sets them on the coffee table. "Have as many as you'd like." Y/N could not bring herself to look at either of them and had no voice to say thank you. She hardly had the strength to pick up just one of the cookies; in fact, the first one she brought to her lips slipped out of her hand and fell to the floor. Recalling Keith's reaction to her fumbling hands, she gasps and covers her head protectively, as though she was about to be hit for her mistake, crying hysterically as she apologizes.

"I'm s- sorry! I'm sorry! I d- d- didn't mean it!"

"Oh, no, no, no, don't worry. It's just a cookie. It's all right." M/N assures while picking it up. "Accidents happen all the time." She smiles assuredly, calming Y/N enough to gradually lower her arms. The older woman sits on the other side of her daughter before looking over to F/N as he reaches for one of the cookies to munch on it. They say nothing, and it's uncomfortable as they eat, but they wanted to wait until Y/N stopped crying before starting their serious conversation.

"We know you're a good girl, Y/N, and that you would never do anything to hurt Keith or anybody else, but I need you to tell us what happened yesterday, okay?" They wait patiently, though the anticipation ate away at them, as their daughter takes a few moments to collect her thoughts. She answers them truthfully, mustering up the courage to look them in the eyes.

"Keith t- t- took me to his house f- f- for lunch, b- but I kept messing up. I d- d- dropped my glass, a- and it broke. He got angry." Her breath hitches as she picks at the skin around her nails with watery eyes. "He attacked me, and th- th- then." She gulps as the parents give a look of surprise and anger, but that changes when she explains the rest. "P- P- Pilvrich came, but it wasn't Pilvrich. He was n- never Pilvrich." Y/N sobs into her hands, gripping her head and breathing heavily. "He was that monster all along! He lied to me! He killed Keith, n-not me! It was all his fault! It's always his fault!" Her truth... was unbelievable to them. Their silence was enough to tell her that. If only they had opened their mind to the possibility. "You don't believe me."

"No, honey, no. It's just..." M/N was quick to deny, but she could not hide her doubt.

"Y/N, we need the truth right now," F/N cuts in, his voice low and serious, terrifying her. "Are you saying it was your tutor who did this? Was he trying to help you?"

"He's that monster! It's the truth, I swear!"

"The monster from your dreams?" he questions, to which she quickly nods. This makes him sigh as he turns to M/N. "We should take her to see Mrs. Williams. Call to see if she has an opening today." The woman nods and takes out her cellphone, setting Y/N off.

"I'm not lying!" She slams both hands down on the table hard enough to send a small shock through her arms that made them tingle. Her parents froze, seeing the frustration in their daughter's eyes as she looks between them. Their skepticism grew deeper as they exchange looks, and M/N slowly puts the phone down on the table, giving her daughter a nervous face.

"Okay, okay." The mother forces a smile, hands unnoticeably trembling, joined on her lap. "How about we watch some cartoons? Let's just relax today. It's so muggy out anyways." Y/N was unsure of excepting. Why couldn't they believe her just this once? They know her. They know she couldn't hurt a fly. She couldn't even hurt her tormentor when the opportunity had presented itself. She is not a killer, so why are they acting so afraid of her?

Shakily, she nods and leans into the back of the couch, staring at her lap as her mother grabs the remote. As the woman flips through the channels, F/N excuses himself to go to the bathroom. They settle on some sensory cartoon for babies. These kinds of shows have been the only thing she's ever been able to stomach on T.V. They help to ease her anxieties, and they are not filled with tension, drama or yelling. No blood or torture, just cute, colorful cartoons singing. It helped. M/N stays with their daughter, while in the bathroom, F/N pulls out his phone to contact Y/N's therapist.

When that's done, he returns to the couch to sit with them, feeling at ease knowing Mrs. William's will have a talk with her tomorrow.
