Sorry this update took a long while. I was really struggling finding the right way to write this chapter, so hopefully, it turned out well. I've also been dealing with a horrible case of writer's block, but I am trying my best to work through it, but hey, I'm here now, so let's go!
Enjoy, my lovelies.

Feeling terribly uncomfortable, Y/N takes a few shaky steps forward, being guided by the blonde boy standing behind her with his hands over her E/C eyes that are currently squeezed shut in anxiousness. Naturally, she feels nervous walking this way, especially with her past experiences with surprises, but she wants to be able to trust her boyfriend, so with all her might, she pushes the sensation aside and, instead, focuses on the warmth radiating from Keith's hands. It was the only thing keeping her from panicking in this moment.
'It will be over in a moment,' is what she keeps saying to herself. When they came to the house a few minutes ago, she really didn't know what to expect, especially when Keith asked her to wait in the living room for him to put the finishing touches on the surprise. She thankfully wasn't left alone for too long. Being by herself was the last thing she wanted, especially with the Boogeyman's return. She felt like he would pop up at any moment and ruin everything.
However, you can imagine the near stroke she had when the boy suddenly covered her eyes without warning. She recalled the Boogeyman had once played a trick on her using a similar tactic when she was still just a little girl. The memory sent a chill down her spine, recalling his icy hands on her face dripping that awful fluid, but she stayed silent as to not ruin the moment. Eventually, their feet come to a stop, and her heart rate picks up as she gulps. She was almost tempted to grab ahold of his soft hands to keep them from leaving her face. She could too easily picture one of the monster's infamous, gory scenes to present itself when he moves away. Even with the hands now gone, she keeps her eyes shut while taking a few deep breaths to calm herself.
"Okay, you can look now." Keith could hardly contain a laugh at Y/N's nervous expression as she shuffles slightly in place, her fingers fidgeting in front of her. To ease the girl, he slips a hand in hers and notes that they're a little clammy, which wasn't too surprising. It has been quite awhile since he's seen her this way, though, it didn't bother him too much. One of the reasons he became so fond of her was her timid disposition.
He found it kind of cute, especially when she'd cling to him subconsciously when frightened. While squeezing his hand tightly, Y/N cautiously peeks one eye open, preparing for the worst, before the other follows. Then, both widen in delight at the sight in front of her. In the center of a dining room with dark grey, hardwood flooring and cream white walls stands a square table draped in a white tablecloth. Thick, cream curtains shield the two windows in the room, preventing any sunlight from seeping through, which leaves only the three tall, scentless candles in the center of the table to light the space up.

A small basket of bread sits by the candles, while white plates of salad and cheese tortellini doused in garlic butter sauce are positioned in front of two of the four seats surrounding the table. Keith pulls at the girl's hand excitedly before taking out one of the chairs for her to sit. Being a bit too eager, the blonde grabs Y/N's shoulder before forcing her to sit down in the seat. She jumps from the action and shakes some as she's pushed in closer to the table.
"I made lunch for the both of us! W-Well, my dad helped a bit, but I hope it turned out good!" A small smile appears on Y/N's face, and she thought she might cry. This was so nice of him to do, and it's a nice change from the horrors that normally plague her dreadful life. Keith bites his bottom lip while looking down at her, his breathing a little uneven.
He wasn't used to seeing her so dolled up and thought the clothes she's wearing flatter her figure well, perhaps a bit too well. The boy gulps and shakes his head of invading thoughts to get his mind out of the gutter. Nothing of the sort will be happening any time soon anyways... Or, perhaps, maybe it will? The two are dating now. Won't that mean that, one day, they will be together in every way? That is what he's been taught anyways, and it made sense. Perhaps it won't happen yet, but eventually...
"Keith?" Y/N tilts her head up at the boy staring down at her, feeling a bit uncomfortable under his blank gaze. It's not the first time she had seen him freeze up like this. It was something he tended to do whenever he got lost in the sea of his thoughts, but that empty look always managed to unnerve her, even if it was unintentional. After blinking out of his daze, the blonde chuckles before moving to sit in the seat across from his date.
"S-Sorry. Y-Y-You just look pretty." A light blush dyes both of their cheeks pink, and Y/N looks away in embarrassment, gazing down at her delicious-looking meal. Quietly, her stomach growls in hunger as she picks up the fork beside her plate before stabbing the prongs into one of the pieces of tortellini, unknowingly striking a chord with her boyfriend. Keith grips his own fork tightly before taking in a deep breath through his nose to settle his emotions.
"You know, you're supposed to eat the salad first," he mentions as nicely as possible through gritted teeth, trying to keep his head like Mrs. Willams had taught him. Y/N pauses and looks up to find a slightly irritated look in the blonde's hazel eyes as she slowly lowers her fork. She removes the food from the prongs while looking back down at her plate, now feeling a little more self-conscious. She had noticed in the past that Keith had always been a bit particular with certain things, so she tried to brush it off as one of those occurrences.
"O-Oh, sorry. I d-didn't know," she mutters back before stabbing a piece of lettuce with her fork. A pleased look appeared on his face.

"Ah, it's fine. Easy mistake."
————————
'Shit! Shit! Shit!' Was the only thing passing through Pilvrich's mind as his feet move him quickly in the direction of Keith's house. He ran as fast as he could, causing his legs to ache some. He had to make it. He had to make sure nothing would happen to his student. Without thinking, he crosses the street, forcing a car to slam on the brakes before they blare their horn at the man they nearly hit.
"Hey, watch where you're fucking going, dumbass!" Curses the driver, who sticks his head out the window before beeping his horn again numerous times after. "Get out of the road!" A loud, frightening growl builds in the back of the tutor's throat as he hits the driver with a menacing glare, almost tempted to tear him limb from limb for delaying his pursuit.
"I don't have time for you!" He shouts back before taking off again, hoping that everything was fine. He wants to believe that he was just overreacting in this situation, but he just couldn't ignore the feeling burning in his chest, like a bucket of hot acid. Every part of him sensed danger and screamed at him to check on her.
'Please, be safe, Y/N.'
——————
"Y-You spilled it. You spilled it all over the goddamn floor!" Keith screams as he abruptly stands from the table, slamming both his hands hard on the wooden surface. His left eye twitches in time with his upper lip as Y/N frantically uses a napkin to dry the water that drenched the front of her outfit. She had been so nervous. She didn't mean to drop the glass. Now, it's shattered all over the floor. This is why her mother never lets her use regular cups. Keith's yelling only made things worse, bringing tears to her eyes as she fearfully shakes.
"I-I-I'm sorry. I-I d-d-didn't—"
"Do you have any idea how long it took me to get everything perfect?! You won't eat right or drink right!" The blonde's hands grip the edge of the table tightly in anger as he tries to breathe and calm down, but he couldn't keep his cool. All the stress of preparing for this moment and wanting everything to be perfect built up inside him, and he couldn't contain it any longer. Screaming loudly in frustration, he flips he table over, frightening Y/N, who jumps out of her seat before it could hit her.
The candles blow out from the quickness of the action, darkening the room a bit, but since it's still noon, it wasn't pitch black. Heavy breaths escape her quivering lips as she quickly crawls back into the corner of the room, gripping her body tightly with her arms. Keith looks over the mess blankly before his lips part to release a faint chuckle, which gradually progresses into full blown laughter as he stumbles back into the wall behind him. Only slightly, does the sound die down as he sits on the floor. From his left, he could hear his girlfriend's rapid breathing, and the sound irritated him.
"Stop it. Stop making that damn noise," he growls whilst gripping his head and covering his ears, tugging harshly at his hair. Such loud noises screamed at him in his head in incoherent words. Y/N, remembering what her mother told her to do if she became too nervous, stood up with the intent to leave. Catching her movement in the corner of his eye, Keith looks up at the girl, who freezes instinctively at the look in his eye. It was sinister, almost familiar.
"Where do you think you're going?" He sets his hand on the floor to push himself up and finds his fork positioned underneath it. Slowly, his fingers curl around the handle of the utensil as he gets up, eyes glaring down on the frightened girl.
"I-I wanna g-g-go home."
"Home," he scoffs. "After all I did for you today, you think you can just leave like this?" His grip on the fork tightens to the point his knuckles turn white as he grits his teeth. "How come every freaking time I do something nice for someone, they always manage to fuck it all up, then act like I'm the bad guy?! Huh!?"
"K-K-Keith—"
"Come here now," he demands, only to become infuriated when she turns and runs to the front door. Enraged, the boy chases after her. "You think you can get off fine because we're friends?! Y-You're just taking advantage of me, aren't you? Aren't you?!" Keith reaches forward and grabs a fistful of the girl's H/L hair, causing her to scream in pain as she's forcefully ripped back.
"S-St-Stop it! Let go! P-Please, let go!" She begs, crying while stabbing her chewed-up nails into the boy's wrist to make him let go as she's dragged back towards the dining room. She couldn't help but picture him as that awful beast as she was roughly yanked around like a rag doll.
"We are going to go back in there, and we are going to eat the wonderful meal I made for us, and you're going to do it right!" In a last ditch effort to get away, Y/N throws her head backwards to bust the boy's nose, generating a loud crack that makes him shout in pain as he lets go to cover the damage. She didn't make it too far, though, after her momentary escape, for seconds later, she finds herself tackled to the floor with Keith on her back. The girl receives a punch to the back of her head, eliciting a loud cry of pain from her throat before the blonde's fork stabs straight into her right shoulder.
"Stop running from me!" A loud thud takes the blonde's attention away and directs it towards the front door. His father couldn't have come back yet, nor was he expecting anyone. Their interruption only angered him further as, a moment later, it happens again and again until the locked door is broken off it's hinges. Just barely was Y/N able to lift her head to find her tutor standing in the doorway with a murderous glare set in his silver eyes.
"Little boy, you're dead."

The Caring Dungeon
NOTE: I, as an 'author' am on a(n) (indefinite?) Hiatus. Without getting into too many details, the person who convinced me to write, who was my muse and my everything, is no longer in my life. I think about writing and I get physically ill and ache in ways that transcend the physical. I want to want to write, but I cannot find the energy. Life events, combined with apparently thin-skin when it comes to personal attacks on this platform, make it impossible for me. The messages, comments, and reviews I recieve(d) were so detrimental to my mental health that I've already removed one story from this website. This one remains up only because the criticisms located in this work are about my writing, and not personal attacks.I just felt like I should put something out there for anyone who is thinking about starting this story. It is not completed. I don't know that it ever will be at this point. I have lost my muse.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Not everything in this world is natural, and it's only natural to fear the unnatural. Fortunately for Manning, he was natural. Unfortunately, he found himself to be in a very unnatural state. Manning was trapped inside of a gemstone, called a dungeon core. Luckily for Manning, he found himself capable of using his newly found unnatural power to make a nature filled forest. With the help of Cara, his unnatural roommate, and Ash, his nature spirit companion, Manning dreams of covering the continent with the most beautiful and dangerous forest it has ever seen. His only other goals are to protect himself and Cara, and if he could ever remember, recover his memories. This is my first time attempting to write anything. Tales of Ordinary, Completely Unremarkable Contractors
"Where life had no value, death, sometimes, had its price. That is why the mercenaries appeared." - Artur Xerxes, in A Century of Disappointment: Memoirs of a Travelling Dwarf It's never too difficult to land contracts for a set very specialised skills in a continent teeming with werewolves, vampires, giant leopards, undead and, god forbid, elves. The difficulty comes when these contractors find themselves suffocated in the dense atmosphere of this world's rigid - and mostly unfair - rules; death, suffering and misfortune await those unwilling to sacrifice to bend these in their favour. In this non-linear plot, you will observe a scarred and deformed farm girl cashing her first bounty posters, a seemingly ordinary barmaid at a tavern in the bustling centre of a sprawling, corrupt city and an enigmatic leader of a firm specialising in dealings any other would consider suicidal. Watch them all take everything to the next level at every available opportunity, and then feel dread at the thought that this still might not be enough to halt the physical embodiment of doom about to do what it does best Please, feel free to review and comment! Any sort of feedback can help me become a better writer and write more engaging stories for you. I used to update once every 3-5 days, but this rewrite is taking much too long...I do hope it will be worth it.
