"Y/N L/N," Adeline Williams calls before waiting patiently for the frightened teenager to enter the office. Out of all the patients the woman had dealt with in her years as a therapist, Y/N has been the hardest case. She shows no sign of recovery, but has tried practically everything. The redhead hoped the girl was feeling a bit better today, though, she knew it wasn't likely. Soon enough, the familiar, shaky figure of the H/C-haired teen appears in the doorway before slowly shutting the door behind her. Mrs. Williams wasn't surprise to see the girl's hesitance to fully shut the opening; after all, she's afraid of closed spaces, among many other things. "How are you feeling today?"

"N-not too good," she mutters, her face looking paler than usual, like she had seen a horrific ghost. Y/N sits in her usual seat before looking around for any sign of the Boogeyman's presence. Mrs. Williams allows the teen a moment to take in her surroundings, knowing she's only more distracted during their meetings if she doesn't scope the place out first. Unable to sense or see him, Y/N's E/C orbs land on her therapist's brown ones, and they begin.

"May I see your journal?" With a nod, Y/N cautiously opens her bag before pulling out the notebook containing all her dreams. Her hands shake while handing it over, and she retracts them to her lap after it's taken. The fingers fidget while she looks down at them as Adeline silently reads to herself.

"You know, Keith Briggs has informed me that the two of you have been getting along very well. Is that true?" She asks, ending the tense air. A small sense of ease was laid into Y/N's mind at the mention of the boy along with a hint of guilt. It's her fault he went towards the beast. The girl confirms the claim with a simple nod.

"W-we're friends."

"I'm so glad to hear that. It's been awhile since you've had one right?" Mrs. Williams flips to the next page, her stomach feeling a little sick after reading the gruesome details. It's no wonder the teen feels this way, so scared of everything. Again, Y/N nods in response to the question.

"I-I've made another one too," she mentions, thoughts drifting to her new tutor. This caught Adeline by surprise, so she lifted her head to give her full attention.

"Oh? What's their name?" A soft smile touches her lips, feeling proud of the young girl for managing to make some friends.

"Pilvrich."

The woman couldn't help but scrunch her brows. The name was peculiar enough to make her wonder if the figure had been completely made up. The name certainly sounded as though it were.

"Pilvrich? What a strange name?" To her surprise, the teen let out a silent laugh, and a very light twitch tugged at the corners of her lips. Y/N's insides began to grow warm, her fear of the monster evading her mind for a mere moment.

"That's what I said. I told him about everything, even about the monster, and he believed it. He believes everything."

"Now, I'm sorry, but I must ask: is this friend of yours...real?" Mrs. Williams was careful with her words. She knows the girl is prone to hallucinations, so it was a possibility that the man had been entirely made up. Her mind could be using this "Pilvrich" character in attempts to bring her back to sanity. By the looks of it, she's very fond of him.

"He has to be. He's my new tutor for my schooling. Mom and dad both saw and talked to him." Her smile grew wider a touch, filling the therapist with happiness. "I met him before that, though. I was heading home from here and got lost. He helped me find the bus stop. Pilvrich seemed scary at first, but now..." A light dust of pink colors the girl's cheeks, making Adeline want to laugh, but she knew better and held it in. It was clear the teen might've experienced her first crush. "He makes me feel better."

"Well, that's always a good thing to hear. You mentioned he's your new tutor, though. Does that mean he's older?"

Y/N gives a firm nod, and the woman goes back to skimming the teen's journal.

"Yeah, but not by much, I think. I never asked him, though."

Mrs. William's brows scrunch together in confusion upon seeing a strange occurrence in the girl's papers before closing the book.

"It appears you've missed a few entries this week. You haven't forgotten to write, have you?" Though her voice came out somewhat stern, it oddly didn't bother Y/N, who shakes her head in response.

"No, I just didn't have many nightmares this time. I haven't dreamed of anything." Now that was something. An excited gleam appears in the woman's big, brown eyes as a smile appears on her soft pink lipstick-covered lips, catching her patient off guard.

"That's wonderful news! And, your monster; is he here right now?" She can't help but lean forward in her seat, hopeful to hear that the girl has finally gotten better. Gulping, Y/N takes a moment to look around, but to her relief, there appears to be no sign of him in the room. She simply shakes her head, causing the therapist to nearly jump up and down in joy. She remains professional, though.

"Perhaps, with you socializing more, you're finally able to make a breakthrough. I'm very proud of you, Y/N! Well done!" Excited, she holds out the journal, but Y/N's E/C eyes only stare at it blankly in confusion.

"I'm...getting better?" She didn't sound too convinced; in fact she wasn't. There was no way. She feels no different, still frightened, and, yes, she's had a few peaceful rests, but that's only because she won the monster's game and Pilvrich was there to help her through the night. The Boogeyman hasn't left. The events in the waiting room remind her of that.

However...

Where is he?

Why isn't he stalking her right now?

Was this really a sign of recovery?

It didn't seem that way, but the longer she thought about it, the more it made sense. Perhaps the beast is growing tired of her and that's why he hasn't made his move yet?

"I'd say so. You haven't even stuttered for the past few minutes." At that, her E/C orbs widened.

'Is that true? Did I really not stutter? When was the last time that happened? Maybe...maybe there is something to this? Maybe I am better?'

Still skeptical, Y/N grabs her notebook and slips it into her bag before continuing to talk with her therapist.

I silently watch my toy from afar, peering through a crack in the cabinet door of the office. I hid myself from her senses to the best of my ability. All I have to do now was stay quiet. This'll make her think I went after the boy and make her feel afraid for him. My eyes narrow at the therapist as she asks for the journal full of my wonderful games. For years, she has been trying to get Y/N to believe that I'm fake, that I'm nothing but a vivid hallucination.

'How dare she fill such useless thoughts in her brain?' I've always hated that woman. She's always treated me like a mere disease. I've been tempted to rip her head off for ages now, but I've refrained. The only reason I've kept her alive so far is that I enjoy these little talks. Y/N speaks about those beautiful nightmares I've used to haunt her, and is forced to relive them by explaining them to her therapist. It's quite entertaining, and I like to hear my prey's responses. However, I've been slacking. She really wasn't supposed to win that game. She even took me by surprise, but no matter. What's done is done.

It's been hard keeping to myself, but I made a deal, and, if there's one thing I'm good at, it's keeping my word. Sadly, Y/N's belief is starting to weaken. Not by much, but that can always change. I can't let this happen again. Thankfully, I've been in her head for so long that it's hard for her to disregard me at the mere idea that she's getting better.

I'll have to be more careful. This game is between me and her, and, if this doctor interferes, I'll go through with killing her. There's something else that's been bugging me, though. It's that boy. Somethings not quite right about him. I never paid him any attention until now. I don't even know what he comes here for.

At first, I thought he was being fed off of by another demon, but that doesn't seem to be the case. He really isn't right in the head. I haven't pushed him away from Y/N just yet, knowing she's getting attached to him in a way that'll be very satisfying to destroy. Lately, I've been getting a strange scent off him, though, and it's concerning. I'm not liking how close he's getting to her, and the fact that boy even dared to step towards me with the nerve to tell me to leave my toy alone made me livid. A grin forms on my dripping face.

'Perhaps a little nightmare will set her straight? I'll be sure to make that boy the star of the show. No more Keith; no more problems.' Well, with that solved I can go back to listening to Y/N talk. My eyes shut as I lean my head back against the wall of the cabinet. I was sure not to make any noise and simply listened to that adorable, little voice of hers. I found it so soothing, especially when she screamed. She speaks so softly, yet screams loud. It's amazing how much of an effect I've left on her. It makes me proud of myself.

"W-we're friends."

"I'm so glad to hear that! It's been awhile since you've had one, right?"

"I-I've made another one too."

My eyes open, and I bend forward some to look through the opening at my victim.

"Oh? What's their name?"

"Pilvrich."

I nearly laughed. Y/N thinks of Pilvrich as a friend? And, that smile on her lips... Could she have... I cover my mouth with my hand to help suppress a laugh. No, I'm just imagining things. Still, it was a very funny thought.

'Poor, poor Y/N. You're getting lost in a labyrinth of doom, and, yet, you smile when saying the name.' Though I had been amused, the thought had stirred something within me. I set my hand down, grin cleared from my face. I watch as her smile grows bigger, while she speaks fondly of her tutor.

'You don't understand a thing, do you, little mouse?'
