Shuffling sheets sound from the bed in Y/N's bedroom as the young girl huddles against the back corner of the mattress with her hands shakily holding her arms to keep herself steady. Two days had gone by full of peaceful rest and less stressful mornings, but now the creature would soon return for his prey to drag her back into the unending world of hellish nightmares and fear. The all the lights are on, as always, and the door had been left partially opened, allowing the illumination to stretch out into the hallway, but it wouldn't be long until it's shut off by the monster she hates. To keep her thoughts in a happy place, Y/N thinks about her new tutor, Pilvrich, who had made her life seem so much better in only the past couple day. The two had made a deal, that she'd do whatever he told her so that the Boogeyman can be vanquished once and for all.
Yesterday, before the man left, he told her he'd come tonight, since the monster claimed that'd be when he returned. It seemed like a good idea. This way she wouldn't be alone with the creature, and Pilvrich would have the chance to attack. Y/N informed him of the time he usually makes his appearance and practically begged him to come before that. Thankfully, that had been his plan, but, now, as she waits for him, she realizes the raven-haired male is cutting it a little too close. The Boogeyman will be there any second, and he still hasn't come. Of course she's anxious.
'Hurry, Pilvrich, please.' Nearly, the girl whimpers as she brings her trembling knees to her chest, her heart pounding heavily due to the overwhelming anxiety. She hopes her tutor will make it in time. Y/N can't help but wonder, though, if it'd all be over after tonight, if Pilvrich would slay the horrid beast and put an end to the awful nightmares. Y/N had to cover her mouth to block a scream when a light tap hits her window from a small pebble.
Thankfully, she wasn't too loud. Warmth and relief fills her instantly when she hesitantly looks through the glass and down at the backyard, where Pilvrich stands with a smile on his lips. The male waves to her before dragging the ladder the two of them had pulled out of the garage during yesterday's "lesson" out of the bushes behind the house. Though the man kept up with his duties as a tutor, he rushed so that they could speak about their plans for the monster, so they could barely be considered lessons. Together, they came up with lots of ideas, though, all are near impossible to accomplish without the right timing and tools.

Y/N lifts her bedroom window as the silver-eyed male positions the ladder against the house to reach her windowsill. The teen quickly grabs ahold of the top of it in hopes to keep it steady for his ascent. Thankfully, he makes it up without incident and lands inside with his back on top of her bed and his black dress shoes sticking out the window. Y/N cracks a smile at the ridiculous position, but it quickly left when he sat up to untie his shoes and remove them. The dark-haired male drops them beside the bed before meeting the girl's E/C gaze.
"Looks like I made it in time. Is he here yet?" He asks in a soft whisper that sends a chill down the female's spine, though, she isn't quite sure if it was pleasant or not. Y/N responds with the shake of her head as she grips her arms tighter. She's so nervous right now.
"W-What if y-you get hurt?"
"Oh, don't worry about me, little one." Cautiously, the man sticks out his hand to set it on the girl's head. She flinches on instinct, but doesn't pull away from his touch and scoots a little closer to his side to feel safer. "I'm ready to face him, so don't worry your little head." Just when she was about to relax from his statement, the lights in the room flicker, and that familiar sense of dread consumes her pale form.
Instantly, Y/N wraps her arms around one of Pilvrich's and hides her face in his shoulder. She can feel the lack of muscle in the man's limb and hopes to God that he'll be able to even fight that thing. Soft whimpers escape her lips when darkness fills the room. The only sound she could hear was the rapid beating of her heart and unsteady breaths.
"Shh...I won't let him hurt you," the man assures, while keeping his gaze on the room, his silver orbs scanning every detail closely for any anomalies. "Why don't you lie down and get some rest? I'll be right by your side, and, if all goes well, it'll be over by the time you wake up."
"B-b-but, I-"
"It's all right, Y/N. I'll be here the entire time. I'll be sure to wake you if something happens. You'll have to trust me, though, okay?"
Sniffling, the girl gives a stiff nod before reluctantly releasing the male's arm and lying down on her mattress with her eyes glued to the dark corners of her ominous bedroom. Very slowly, the open door creeks as it's closed by an invisible force with a soft click echoing after it's shut, causing her to squeeze her eyes closed and clench the pale blue sheets in fear. A warm hand softly rubs the teen's shoulder to ease her mind before the blanket is draped over her body, covering everything but her head.

"Get some rest. I'll take care of it when he makes his appearance."
Gradually, Y/N drifts into slumber with little effort. It was like a wave had washed over her and dragged her body into the cool ocean to leave her floating upon the watery surface.
But, would this rest be peaceful or frightening?
My sliver orbs land on the child's form as my hand wanders from her shoulder to her H/L, H/C hair. I take a lock of it in my hand and instantly feel soothed by the soft texture of the strands. Deep, slow breaths escapes the sweet thing's lips, telling me that she had at last fallen asleep. Lightly, my fingers trace down her cheek to feel the pale S/C flesh, which holds a touch of warmth. A small tsk escapes my lips as I grin down at her form.
"My dear girl, you're in quite some trouble, aren't you?" That grin of mine falls as my hand travels over Y/N's throat steadily with my nails dragging. The female's breath hitches slightly as she knits brows, but she doesn't awaken from my gentle touch. I keep my hand still there with my fingers around her neck, but I make no motion to squeeze. I note how small she is in comparison to me.
My hand can nearly wrap around her neck, though, I suppose years of endless torture can lead to many changes in the body. All the stress has made her thin, and I've witnessed her throwing up twice in the past two days, which certainly doesn't help. My thoughts go back to the time I've spent with the young creature. She had hugged me numerous times, which I will admit, surprised me. I've never been held in such a manner, at least, not for a very long time. If I had, I don't remember. She depends on me for her safety. I don't know why, but knowing that made my insides feel all...bleh.
'Sick.' I shake my head and pull away from her neck before leaning my back against the wall with my legs outstretched.
'This is going to be a long night, I can tell.' Nothing was happening, so I have to entertain myself somehow. My eyes travel back to Y/N as I lightly grip the black sleeves of my button-up shirt. An emotionless expression rests on my face as I watch her chest rise and fall with each breath. She appears to be sleeping peacefully.
I sigh softly in boredom while leaning my head back against the wall. The room is dark and silent, which makes me a bit tired. I glance at the clock and see it's only a little past midnight. My eyes narrow into a glare as though the action would make time speed up somehow, but no luck; it's still 12:13 AM. Once again, I look at Y/N.
Still asleep. Still peaceful...
I groan and lie down beside her to at least be comfortable. I stay that way for a few minutes before her body shifts. I lift my head slightly to see if she had awoken, but her sleeping body was just on autopilot, turning over so that it'd be more comfortable. Well, now she's facing me, more specifically, my chest. The teen's fingers wrap around the fabric of my shirt to hold it in a loose grip before she settles. I think this is the first time I haven't felt her shaking. Hesitantly, I wrap my arm around her waist, while my other hand begins to play with the female's soft hair to keep myself entertained.
"You have no idea of the real danger you're in, do you, Y/N?" I mutter, though, I know she can't hear me. When I lower my head some, I can smell her scent of tart cherries with a hint of apricot. I quite like that smell, actually.
'You have such soft hair, little one.' I compliment mentally, while my eyes flutter shut. Who knows what made me do it, but I left a small kiss on the girl's forehead. When I open my eyes again, I stare dead ahead with a tight feeling in my stomach.
'I can't imagine this ending well.'

Kind’s Kiss
MAGIC DOESN'T KILL, NOT BY ITSELF. IT NEEDS A LITTLE HELP. Jessica DeRidder is a substitute teacher and mage in hiding, her daughter Ellen a killer on the run. Their next job lands the mother-daughter team in Hellhole, a small town in the middle of nowhere. All they need to do is their job. For Mom to identify the problem, and for Ellen to... fix it. Easy. Simple. But not this time. The pair find themselves caught in the struggle between the Man-in-White and the Wicked Witch of the West. A mysterious image and the theft of a deadly flower lead the pair to a score of dead prisoners, magical drug dealers, and red-eyed assassins falling from the sky. And somehow it all seems to be related to Ellen's murky past. All Ellen wants to do is do her homework, eat ice cream, and protect her newfound friends (not necessarily in that order). She'll go all-in, guns blazing. But when the smoke clears there may be nothing left but a stranger's past and a lonely future. --- 'Kind's Kiss' is a light, modern-day fantasy, easy on the magic, heavy on the snark. Though complete it is still a work in progress. One reviewer described it as 'Buffy meets Sabrina, as done by Tarantino'. I'm still not sure if I should consider that a compliment or hire a hitman :-)
