《Welcome To The Family》Fireside

I wrapped Jared in a blanket before Gabe brought the two of us outside. Gabe let me go out once in a while with him, but has not let me leave the house since we discovered that I was pregnant. I begged to go visit Bonnie's grave, but he would not let me.

It was nice to take in a deep breath of the fresh cool night air. Gabe kept his arm around my waist as we walked across the damp grass and over to the fire that the boys built. Taylor, Dylan, Jimmy and Tommy were all sitting in lawn chairs around the fire. Gabe sat down in the remaining chair and pulled me onto his lap. The warmth of the fire spread across my skin. I leaned back into Gabe's chest.

Jimmy was leaning back in his chair. His hand was resting against his chin and his fingers were partially covering his large scar. Tommy was leaning forward with his elbows resting on his knees. His eyes were focused on Gabe and I. Dylan had a book open in his hands. He seemed to be carrying books with him everywhere for the past two years.

Jared was asleep in my arms. I curled him into my chest to try and protect him from the cold wind. Gabe kept his arms around us.

"Jared is really tiny," Jimmy said.

"That's a baby," Tommy said.

"Yeah, but when was the last time you saw a baby?" Jimmy asked. "You forget how small they are."

"Well, it's about time that they had a baby."

I looked up from Jared and glared at Tommy. We had Bonnie, but I was not able to mention that. Gabe chuckled and tightened his hold on me.

"I think you should hold your judgements until you have a son," Gabe said.

"Taylor is the next to have a baby," Dylan said. "Dad is getting you your girl in two years. You're next."

"Gabe should have another boy by then," Tommy said.

I bit down on my lip to stop myself from saying something to Tommy.

"We'll have plenty of boys," Gabe said.

Tommy leaned back in his chair. He crossed his arms and smirked. I could not stand to look at his intense stare anymore and looked down at Jared.

"Lindsay is really beautiful," Tommy said.

"I'm really lucky." Gabe kissed my temple.

"I hope my girl is just as sexy," Tommy said.

"Tom, stop being such a creep," Jimmy said.

Tommy let out a deep breath and rolled his head to the side to look at Jimmy.

"I am just saying what we are all thinking," Tommy said. "I want my girl to have a pair of legs like that."

"Tommy!" Jimmy yelled.

I curled myself tighter into Gabe's chest. He rubbed my side in an attempt to comfort me. I moved to get off of his lap so that I could go inside. Gabe tightened his fingers into my side, telling me not to move.

"Be nice to Lindsay," Jimmy said.

"I'm giving her a compliment," Tommy said.

"You can say it in a way that doesn't make you sound like a pervert," Jimmy said.

"Ease up on him, Jim," Taylor said. "He's just being Tommy."

Jimmy rolled his eyes. Tommy chuckled and ran his hand along his jaw. I glanced up to see that he was still watching me. I was praying that Jared would wake up and I would have to go inside to feed him.

"I'm being nice to Lindsay," Tommy said. "What is wrong with that, Jimmy? Don't you want me to be nice to the girls in this family?"

"You can be nice without being a total pervert," Jimmy said.

"Give Tommy a break," Dylan said.

"Thank you, everyone," Tommy said with a smirk.

I pushed Gabe's hands off of myself. I could not stand to sit here any longer. Tommy's gaze was making my skin crawl and his comments made me want to vomit. Gabe sat up higher in his seat as I stood.

"Lindsay, sit back down," he said.

"I'm going to go back inside," I said. "It's cold out and I don't want Jared to get sick."

"Give him to Mom and get back out here."

I swallowed past the lump forming in my throat. I nodded and took a step back. Tommy kept his eyes locked on me as I hurried back into the house.

Noah, Jenny and Charles were sitting around the dining room table. They each had a mug of tea in front of them. They all looked over at me as I entered the house. Noah raised a brow when he saw that I was alone. I plastered a fake smile on my lips.

"Jenny, I was wondering if you could do me a favour?" I asked.

"Of course, sweetheart," she said. "What is it?"

"Can you watch Jared? It is getting cold outside."

"I would love to."

Jenny got up from the table and walked over to me. I kissed Jared's forehead before I passed him over to Jenny. She shifted his weight in her arms as she cooed at him. I glanced past Jenny's shoulder to see Noah and Charles deep in conversation.

"Can I talk to you, Jenny?" I asked her in a harsh whisper.

"About what?" she asked.

I did not know how to bring up the fact that her sons and nephews were making me uncomfortable. I did not want to be seen as ungrateful and be punished. I was unsure if she would say anything to Noah.

"Nevermind," I said. "It is nothing."

"Are you sure?" she asked.

I bit down on my bottom lip and nodded my head. I rushed out of the house before she could say anything else to me. I took in a deep breath of the cool night air and stepped out onto the grass. I headed toward the fire and crossed my arms over my chest. Gabe reached out toward me as I came closer. He grabbed my waist and pulled me back onto his lap. He kissed my cheek and patted my thigh.

"Glad to have you back," he whispered into my ear.

I smiled as I leaned back into him.

Luckily, the conversation had gotten off of me and onto what they had been reading. Tommy kept his creepy stare on me throughout the evening.
