《Welcome to the Pack (Wolf oneshot book)》Alpha!Wolf x Dying!Reader
Advertisement
You never thought in your whole life that you'd die to the Hunters. You always knew humans could be cruel, but... you never knew they were this cold hearted.
You laid there against the grassy surface of the field, the pain in your shoulder and hide . Blood from your wound dried in your (F/C) fur, and stained the grass below you. You refused to let it bother you for now, though. 'I wonder if Alpha and the Pack escaped...' You weren't the only wolf the Hunters attacked. You knew Beta and a few of your Pack's Hunters has been taken down.
Suddenly, you heard a distant howl. You pricked an ear, listening to the sound of wolves rushing throughout the field. You knew that howl from anywhere; it was your Alpha. It'd be a lie if you were to say you two hadn't gotten closer over time. He was almost like a best friend, considering you two had a strong bond and you could trust him with anything.
Without hesitation you howled back, and there were a few more howls before some wolves rushed towards you. "(Y/N)! We found them!" The Delta barked. There were whined in response before some more found your body. "(Y/N), oh my god! I was so worried about you!" That was the voice of your brother, (B/N). "Wait... your bleeding! Oh god, oh god..." His worried tone was followed by a howl of panic, yet you looked up to him.
"I'm okay, (B/N)... it hurts, but I'm okay." He didn't seem to calm down, and instead just sat next to you. The atmosphere was thick with tension, and it made things very uncomfortable within the silence. One more wolf joined the group, and the others backed away so he could get through. He walked up to you and your brother, and all you heard was growling.

You lifted your head up to see the Alpha, his teeth bared and his eyes narrowed at the sight of seeing you laying there, injured. "What happened?" He demanded, his tone full of visible anger. Nobody answered, some even whimpering and backing away. You didn't mess with that Alpha when he was upset; one wrong comment and he would snap.
The silence returned almost instantly. "Everybody. Go back to camp. Wait for our return. Do I make myself clear?" Almost in an instant, everybody replied with a "Yes, Alpha!" before the sounds of paw steps rushing off could be heard. (B/N) stood there for a few seconds before getting up, walking up to the Alpha.
"They better return with you. If they don't, I can assure you one thing, 'Alpha'... blood be shed." With that he walked off, Alpha not even moving from his spot until the wolf was gone.
Almost immediately, he laid down next to you, laying his head next to yours. He whined, and you just laid there, not sure what to say. "(Y/N)... I'm sorry." He started. "I should've made sure you were with us when we were running away. Instead, I let you get hurt... I'm a horrible Alpha..." His tone was now... depressing. You lifted your head up as good as you could, despite his protests.
"Look, Alpha. I should've stayed with the Pack. It's my own fault-" You were cut off with him having you lay down, right next to him again. You weren't sure if it was because you were getting more dizzy, or if you were losing strength, but your vision was starting to slowly get blurry. No matter how many times you blinked, it stayed that way. You also started to feel sleepy.
You almost felt... scared, yet at ease. You were scared and didn't want to die, who does. But you also felt calm, like you've been through this before. Alpha took notice. "(Y/N)... please don't leave me." His voice was now a mere whisper, and it was shaky. You smiled, hoping he saw you. "It's okay, Alpha. I'll... hopefully see you again. No... I know I will."

"Please, call me... call me Remus. I'll only let you call me by my name. At least... one time before you..." His voice just quaked, and he whined quietly. Your smile still there, you nodded. "Okay, then. I just want you to know something, though... I love you, Remus." You slowly started to close your eyes, not being able to hold them open much longer. "I'm tired now... I'm just gonna take a nap." You whispered, finally closing your eyes and letting the darkness envelope your vision.
Remus laid there, watching your hide slowly stop moving altogether and hear your breathing coming to a slow stop. He didn't move, and just watched the sunny field, seeing some rabbits nearby; they looked at you two in curiosity, their long ears pricked as they sat upright. He looked at them, not doing anything as he just stared at them running off after a couple of seconds.
He got up, not taking his eyes off you now as he walked to a spot nearby. He instantly started to dig, making haste, despite his obvious depressed demeanor. Once he dug the hole, well... it became your grave. Even after death, he made sure to take care of your body, as if you were still alive. All he did was sit and stare at the patch of dirt, and time seemed to fly for him; the sun started getting closer to the other end of the sky, though some animals had watched him from afar.
Despite his silent pleas for you to, somehow, come back... he sighed as he stood himself up and turned around, starting to walk off towards his Pack's territory. Having to bury you was the hardest thing for him, but he knew it would come eventually.
He just wished he didn't lose you so fast.

A Virtual Invasion
An invasion from another dimension is shut down by an Empire's traitor and the world has a scant few decades to build the strength to resist a multidimensional Empire. How will the world fair when no one even knows its doom is one barred gate away? Fortunately, the traitor has a plan. Maybe with a bit of luck and planning, he can build a force to defend the world without anyone realizing it. Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
