I remember when I first got my guardian. I was younger when my father was angry at my mother for some reason. I tried to protect her, but my father was bigger and stronger than my 5-year-old self. Just when he was about to strike, I felt a pair of warm and gentle arms wrap around me. I looked up to see an angel protecting me, that was when my guardian, Y/n, first appeared. My guardian wasn't a being of strength and power, but healing.
Endeavor at first was disappointed but realized that the power of healing, could lessen the downside of Shoto's quirk. So both master and guardian were pushed to their limits.
I remember the days where mom and I would simply relax as Y/n would play their lyre for us. When Mom couldn't join me, Y/n would accompany me, they were my only friend in that house. But one day.
_____________
"That crazy woman, hurting my masterpiece at such an important time," Endeavor grimaced but soon turned to y/n with a glare. " And you, you let your master get hurt! You are a pathetic excuse of a guardian."
Y/n simply stood with a sad expression, with a horrible and identical burn, like their master Shoto. From that day on, Shoto closed off his heart from everyone, even his own guardian. No matter how much the angel wishes to heal Shoto's hurting heart, Shoto refuses their aid.
"I don't need you. I don't need your or my old man's quirk," Shoto said coldly, not even looking at them.
Y/n could feel the pain in their master's heart but was helpless to comfort him.
Years past and Shoto's closed heart turned ice-cold, as his attitude reflected that. He soon found himself alone, as most were intimidated by him. Y/n themselves had no one to turn to, and they knew full well that their master never wants to see them. When they are summoned, Shoto doesn't even turn to look at them.
Y/n would have never guessed they would find some sort of comfort from another guardian, let alone a demon guardian. Guardians are rare, so two guardians ever meeting has rarely really happened.

"Yikes, that sounds awful," a demon guardian of Izuku, Yuki said. "But none of those things were your fault."
"But I failed to protect my master from that burn. Endeavor was right, I failed," Y/n said with a sigh.
The two guardians stood outside of the classroom, to not distract the students. With nothing better to do, they began talking. Though it was more of Y/n ranted, while Yuki listened, for they only came into being two days ago.
"I think Shoto is upset that you didn't save his mother from something out of your control and field of understanding. Your and our point of being is to care for our master, not his family, and how to counsel them," Yuki said simply. " But I'm surprised that Shoto never let you heal his scar."
"By the time he would somewhat utilize my power, I could not heal that burn. He... won't even look at me, and when I help neutralize his pain. He simply pushes me away," Y/n said as they sadly strum their lyre.
"I-is it possible for guardians to run away, maybe you can run away," Yuki suggested.
"And become a rouge Guardian! No no, Shoto is just in pain. I'm sure he will soften soon," Y/n said hopefully.
----------------------------------
As time passed, Y/n and Yuki formed a cohort of sorts. The two unsure what to call their relationship, they didn't consider themselves friends, but not strangers. Just on some level care about one another.
"Todoroki you have a guardian too right, why don't you utilize them?" Iida asked.
"I don't need them," Shoto said simply as he ate his lunch.
"But a support guardian would be a great benefit," Izuku spoke up.
"Yeah, but I'm strong enough to not rely on them. At best they are good at help as an aid for civilians," Shoto said.
"You've had your guardian for a long time, surely you see them as more than that," Momo added.
Shoto simply didn't answer, this annoyed Yuki ever so slightly.

UA was defiantly an interesting school, after the sports festival, Shoto changed. His heart wasn't as cold as it was before, he slowly opened up to Izuku and a few classmates. Yet he still hasn't entirely softened towards me. He still won't call upon me for help, even if the side effects of his quirk were hurting him.
_______________
One night in Hosu City, a fight between Izuku, Shoto, Iida, and the hero killer stain was in sue. As Shoto hunched over in exhaustion, stain threw three of his knives at the boy. Before Shoto could react, a figure suddenly appeared as an explosion of white feathers filled his vision.
"I'm sorry, I won't fail this time," Said a familiar voice
Shoto's eyes widen in shock and horror as he stared at his impaled guardian. A knife to the head, and the heart. Y/n soon fell to the ground in a puff of blood-stained feathers.
"Why must those pesky guardians get in the way," Stain growled as he slowly stood.
Yuki stretched out their bat-like wings as their shadow cast over Stain.
_______________
As Shoto sat in his hospital room, he tried on multiple accession to summon Y/n. Yet they never came. At first, he tried to summon Y/n to ask for help to block out some wound pains. Yet when they didn't appear, worry began to take hold.
As he walked about the halls of the hospital, he soon saw Yuki walking down the hall towards Izuku's room, with a plate of food.
"Yuki," Shoto called out.
The demon Guardian didn't stop but turned their head to acknowledge the boy's presence. Shoto quickly caught up to the guardian as they continued towards Izuku's room.
"I've been trying to summon Y/n for a while now, but they aren't responding," Shoto said quietly.
"Well one, they could still be recovering. Or maybe they simply don't want to return to you," Yuki said simply.
Shoto froze in place as those words echoed in his ears. "Your lucky to have a guardian who can still put up with you for so long, and not go rogue," Yuki sighed.
"Rogue?" Shoto asked.
"When a guardian abandons their master," Yuki answered simply.
Shoto's face slowly but slightly saddened. "You knew what you were doing, but you had no other healthy way of venting your issues. So you simply projected onto your guardian," Yuki said monotonly as they closed the door behind them.
________________
Shoto sat in his room silently as he mulled over Yuki's words. For the first time, Shoto stopped at looked back at his actions towards his guardian, and felt ashamed. Memories of the past flooded to the front of his mind. How Y/n during his time of childhood they were his only friend. How Y/n would play their lyre for him when he had a bad dream. Know they could be gone forever.
"Why are you down? Master," A familiar voice asked from behind him.
Shoto quickly stood and turned to face Y/n, for the first time in a long time. Y/n's lovely H/c hair grew longer from before, and they had a similar scar on their face like his.
"O-oh, I'm sorry master. I shouldn't have appeared so su-"
Y/n was cut off by a suddenly. " Y/n... I-I'm... Sorry," Shoto said sowly.
"Sorry?" Y/n asked with slight confusion.
"For everything I've done. I shouldn't have treated you like I did," Shoto said as he lowered his head.
"Shoto, I knew you were hurting. So I don't hold anything against you. But I forgive you Shoto," Y/n said as tears ran down her cheek.
"H-How can you?" Shoto asked still not looking up.
"Cause I know you Shoto, and I know you will be a great and kind hero. Slowly but surely, and I will remain by your side always," Y/n smiled as they siftly embraced Shoto.
Shoto soon closed his eyes and rested in his guardians warmth.

I was a webnovel junkie for a long time, but I found it hard to find novels with solid characters, decent plot, philosophical underpinnings and a fully painted world to keep me going. I've taken from every genre I've liked to make a story that satisfies my own cravings for a good story. If you like the story or have suggestions please leave a comment or review. I hope this novel is fun, provocative but above all fun. Enjoy. Yours truly, James Paul Addington PS I will release at least two chapters a week, or one really long chapter. Concerning the tags: The story is primarily Fantasy with Wuxia influence in some elements. Romance won't happen for the first two arcs or so (roughly 40 chapters), I want to build the world before I do that. Tragedy is because of an event that occurs in the book, not the tone of the book. The book is more lighthearted. Slice of Life doesn't occur till the third arc (the romance happens during that arc as well). Magic will also show up more in later arcs, but appears throughout. Reincarnation it's not a reincarnation like in the traditional sense, but it has a similar concept.
