《The Love Abroad》Chapter 30 - The Wedding Finale

I had a dream last night.

It was the scariest dream I've ever had.

"It was about today. My wedding day. Kris, it scared the crap out of me." She finishes applying the eyeliner before blotting my lips again with a tissue.

"You've got cold feet, Marie. It's perfectly normal. In an hour, you'll be Mrs. Thomas Hiddleston. Just relax and soak it all up, you deserve it."

I stick a straw in my glass of water sitting on the table next to me. "I know but I get this uneasy feeling. My stomach is in knots."

Diane, Emma and Sarah walk in the dressing room. Maddie is outside with Rich playing in the garden, she's the most adorable flower girl I've ever seen. "You're not even in your dress yet and you look absolutely beautiful." Sarah comes in for a hug; it's been a while since I last saw her. On Christmas actually, the day I went crazy over Tom's proposal.

"I'm thrilled to see you." I say making sure to not hug her too hard. Kris would flip if I messed up my hair and makeup. "Tom's a lucky man." I hear a manly voice coming from behind me. I turn to see my dad leaning against the doorframe.

"May I have a moment alone with my daughter, the bride?" All the ladies smile and make their exit. "Marie, you are -"

"Stop it dad, don't make me cry." My dad and I have always been pretty close, so close that we irritated each other. He's taught me everything I know and everything I am is because of him.

He walks over to me, grabbing both my hands. "You're all grown up," he begins. I can see his eyes get glossy. "Here I thought you'd never get married, it was something you were always against. Now here you are, marrying Tom and I wouldn't have it either way."

My dad has always been the only person that could make me break down in tears with just one look and right now, he's giving me that look. I'm 100% sure Kris didn't use waterproof makeup either.

Damn.

"I'm proud of you, Marie. Only a half hour until your life changes forever." He kisses my forehead. "I'll be right outside waiting. You need to get that dress on." As he walks out, Kris slips her way into the room.

"Everyone is getting lined up. You ready?" She asks as she's helping me slip into my dress. "I need to fix your makeup real quick too. I told you not to cry." I glare at her.

"Well I'm sorry, I'm feeling emotional today." All she does is smile. "My best friend is hot. You clean up really well, Marie." She pauses as she tries to hold back tears. "You've made my life better, M. I'm so honored to be a part of your big day and for letting me interrogate Tom. You deserve all the happiness in the world and Tom can give you that." One lonely tear falls down her rosy cheeks.

"Stop it, Kris. We can cry after the wedding." I give her a hug not giving one care about my hair or makeup. She is my best friend, someone who’s always been there for me and always will be.

She's my sister.

Tom's POV_

"I'm quite nervous. How does she look? Beautiful I bet. Is my tie straight?" I look over at Luke, my best man, who gives me the seal of approval.

"Calm down, Tom. Breathe man." He says after pounding a whole glass of champagne. "She looks stunning." I look to my dad with a smile.

After one glance in the mirror and a final deep breath I begin a toast.

"To those that support Marie and I's relationship. All of you are important to both of us and I thank you for sharing this day with us." We all take a drink before I finish. "Now let's go get married!'

I open the door to the hallway, waking to the ballroom to take my spot at the head of the altar. I see all my closest friends and family sitting before me. People I've met along the way and friends I've made on film sets. My brother Chris Hemsworth and his family, and my dearest friend Ewan McGregor with his. I can see Marie's high school friends and her grandparents. Everyone we love is here.

The doors to the ballroom open and so it begins. Maddie and Rich walk down with rose petals being thrown about. The first couple down the aisle is Luke and Kris followed by my sisters and some of my childhood friends. I'm getting married. I mumble to myself, my hands fidgeting in front of me.

Stop Tom, calm down. I say breathing heavily with my eyes looking down at my feet. I've never been this nervous before; it's quite an unusual feeling.

Finally the orchestra begins playing the wedding march. This is it. I look up at the doors waiting for Marie to show herself. Everyone stands on his or her feet and then she appears. Her arms wrapped into her father's.

"She is absolutely stunning," Luke leans over whispering in my ear. My mouth drops. I can't believe I'm this lucky; Marie is breathtaking. Her smile radiates throughout the room and as she gets closer I can feel myself overwhelmed with emotions. Her father leaves her at the end of the white silk runway and turns her hand to mine. He smiles at me before planting a kiss on Marie's cheek.

I am completely speechless.

Marie's POV_

I feel like I'm about to pass out. I hate having people stare at me and only me; I don't like the attention but alas, that's what happens on wedding days I suppose.

I look up at Tom, his pale blue eyes glimmering and the biggest smile I've ever seen. His hands are cold and clammy; he's nervous too. He mouths the words _I love you_ just before the ceremony begins.

"Today we bring two people together, Thomas and Marie who have made a commitment to each other," the priest begins. "They wish to share their lives together in holy matrimony. Are your vows prepared?"

I can't keep my eyes of Tom and nor he mine but we both nod our heads in unison. "Thomas William Hiddleston, you may recite your vows to Marie."

"Marie, love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind." Tom's voice is calm and smooth as he begins swooning me with his Shakespeare ridden vows. "Therefore is winged Cupid painted blind." He pauses to catch his composure as a tears form.

My mind is racing and my heart beating a 100 mph and seeing him this emotional makes my heart melt. "Marie, I cannot picture what my life would be like without you. Your soul, spontaneity and love for life brings out the young in me. I'm a better person because of you and to share my life with you would only be the cherry on top of an otherwise perfect relationship. I love you."

As I look out to the front row, our moms are crying and our dads grinning from ear to ear trying to keep it cool. Maddie isn't paying the least attention to what's going on as she plays with her stuffed dog.

"Marie, your turn."

If I wasn't already a train wreck, I was sure to become one now. "I can't describe how I'm feeling right now, Tom. To be standing here with you in front of all out closest friends and family. You've changed me, you helped me believe in love again and not to be scared of being vulnerable."

The tears were flowing now and Tom was wiping them off my cheeks as I spoke. "Don't cry, babe," he whispered.

"You're my best friend and I can't imagine how I went 22 years without knowing you. I love you," he smiles as he helps me finish my sentence. "Always and forever."

"Now, Tom, do you take Marie Elizabeth Lucas to be your lawfully, wedded wife, till death do you part?" Luke nudges Tom and hands him my rings. "I do." My hand stopped shaking the moment he slid the ring on my left ring finger.

"Marie, do you take Thomas William Hiddleston to be your lawfully, wedded husband, till death do you part?" All the nervousness I was feeling suddenly disappeared and I could finally relax enough to place his ring on his hand. "I do."

"With the power vested in me by the town of Oxford, I humbly pronounce you two, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hiddleston. You may now kiss your beautiful bride."

Tom takes a step forward as I look up to him; his hand trails my cheek as he bends to kiss me with the softest and classiest kiss possible. It was right then that I felt weak in the knees. I had found him; the man I am supposed to be with for the rest of my life.

He holds my hand as we walk off to another room to sign the official wedding registry, the sounds of claps and cheers from all of our guests. Tom looks down at me, "You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen," he says cheekily, making my face turn 50 shades of red.

Just as we're about to exit and leave the cottage and head to our reception, I hear an all too familiar voice coming from the table behind us. "Congratulations you two." I turn around and see Landon dressed in a tuxedo with a glass of champagne in his hands. He is a little bit drunk too.

"Landon. What ar-ar-are you doing here?" I look at Tom who is just as surprised as I am to see my ex-boyfriend crashing our wedding. "Landon, you need to leave. I thought we fixed things, don't make things harder for yourself."

Landon sets the glass down as he stumbles towards me. "You were supposed to marry me, you bitch. You fly to another country, start fucking the first guy that lays eyes on you and now...you're married to his English cunt?" Tom grabs Landon's arm, throwing him to the other side of the room.

"I said you need to get out of here before you fuck up." I've never seen Tom this angry before.

"Tom, you said you fixed this. How and why is he here? What aren't you telling me?" Both the guys ignore my plea for an answer. "THOMAS!" I yell sternly making them both snap back into reality.

The door to the room breaks open as Tom's dad, my dad and Luke appear in the doorway. "What's going on in here?" James blurts out.

"Marie, why is Landon here?" My dad asks. "Who the hell is Landon?" chimes in Luke. "The hell is going on in here?!" Says a confused Kris as she pushes through the men in the doorway.

Landon forces Tom off of him, straightening his blazer and running his hands through his jet-black hair. "Marie, you'll find out the truth. One way or another. We'll talk." He grabs his glass of champagne and walks out of the room, my dad chasing after him.

"Let's leave these two alone," James says, guiding Kris out as well. She's just as confused as I am.

"What the hell is going on, Tom. I'm tired of this, be honest. What aren't you telling me and what does he mean about finding out the truth?"

Tom leans against the table, his arms folded across his chest. "Things happen, Marie. Things I can't control. Landon is one of them." I stand there in my wedding gown; feeling like my heart is about to be ripped apart by a vicious werewolf.

"Can we please talk about this after the reception and the honey moon?" I nod my head no. "Tell me. Everything."

I stand next to him, his arm around me as he tells me the truth. I begin crying and the feeling of uneasiness begins again. My stomach is in knots. I once thought that we were completely honest with each other, that we were over this entire secret drama and individual issues.

Being with an actor is no easy feat. It's hard work. You spend most of your time apart to where sometimes it feels like it's more of a job than anything else. I came here to England not thinking I would fall for a man, let alone me married before my year at Cambridge was over, but here I am.

In this beautiful little getaway in Oxford, talking to my now husband who I thought I knew. This is the price you pay when you let yourself go.

This is how it feels being in love abroad.
