《It's Now or Never》Part 5

It's been a year since Steve Rogers found out that Bucky Barnes was still alive. Natasha gave us a file on him and Sam, Steve, and I have traveled around the world trying to find him. We ended up going back home, knowing that Bucky wanted to figure things out without our help. We would be so close to finding him only for him to get away.
It was nice spending time with Steve, even under those circumstances. We had grown close in my opinion.
Steve was away taking down a Hydra base somewhere overseas as Sam and I stayed home. Hydra bases seemed to just pop up out of nowhere and Nick Fury needs Steve to come back and help the Avengers make sure there really was none left.
It had been a tough year with traveling and constantly on the move. Hydra knew that we were looking for Bucky as so were they. Every day fighting for your life made it feel like we were back on our tours overseas and we were happy to finally be home.
"Hayes, can you come down here?" Sam yelled from downstairs. I climbed out of bed and ran down the stairs to find Sam in the laundry room by the downstairs bathroom.
"So you do his laundry now?" Sam said with a smirk as he held up Steve's underwear. I ran over to him and ripped them out of his hand.
"We've been on the move and he's not here to do it. Plus you were the one that practically begged him to live here." I pushed him aside going through the dryer grabbing all of Steve's clothes I had washed and put in there to dry.
"Maybe it's time you guys have a place to yourself. That year looking for Bucky made you guys close and I feel like a third wheel over here." Sam said as he leaned against the wall.

"Are you jealous Falcon?" I smirked at him as I picked up the laundry bag.
"I'm just saying I saw him first," Sam said. I laughed and hit Sam with the laundry bag.
"We haven't even talked about if this thing we have going on is really a thing," I said back.
As I headed upstairs, I heard the front door open.
"Hey, Steve. Back so soon?" Sam called out to him.
"Steve," I yelled before he could answer Sam. He poked his head into the hallway, giving me a small smile and a wave as I walked up the stairs with our laundry.
Sam and Steve talked for a bit while I folded clothes. I then heard footsteps coming up the stairs. Steve entered my room and threw himself on the bed on top of the folded clothes.
"Hey, I just folded those. Don't mess it up." I said trying to roll him over a little to pull out the clothes from under him.
"I'm sorry. I'm just tired." He said as he closed his eyes.
"You have your own room," I said as he scoffed at my remark.
I placed the laundry bag on the floor and put away my clothes that Steve wasn't laying on. I put his back in the laundry basket, folded, so he can put them in his room.
"Are you staying here at our place or do you need to go somewhere again," I said with my back to Steve as I put the folded clothes away.
"I think we're staying here for now. Fury will let us know." He said back. I turned back towards him and saw that he was sitting up on the bed now.
"What is it?" He said. I didn't even realize I was giving off a feeling of distress.

"I don't really want any of us to leave to try and find Bucky again. I don't think it's gonna happen anytime soon. We need to wait until he thinks we've really given up. Plus with these Hydra bases, you have been going on a lot of missions. I don't want you to quit or anything like that It's just, never minds. It was just a rant I shouldn't have started in the first place. It's not my right"
He stared in response, not knowing what to say.
"Forget about it Steve, I was just thinking out loud," I said sitting on the bed next to him.
We sat next to each other in silence.
"Tony is having a party tonight. I want you to come with me." Steve said finally breaking the silence.
"I would love to. I just need to start getting ready now then." He laughed as I jumped up from the bed to start and get ready.
I took a quick shower, did my hair, and now I was just doing my make-up in the bathroom mirror. When I was done, I put on my red dress and looked in the mirror. I wanted to make a really great first impression. I only knew Natasha and I hoped she would be there.
"You look... wow... you look amazing," Steve said as he stood in the doorframe.
"Do I, really? I wanna make a good first impression." I said turning around to Steve.
"Trust me. You look breathtaking. They are all gonna love you. You're perfect."
I smiled at his words and pulled him into a kiss.
"Alright big guy, let's get going."
Steve and I stepped out of the elevator with Sam behind us. We walked up some stairs before we made it to the party.
