"Dad! Kenny's over!" Stan yells.
Randy is passed out on the sofa.
"Oh okay. My room?" Stan asks.
I nod, starring at Randy as long as I can.
"Is he breathing?" I ask.
"No worry, this is a normal day. He'll be up by four, cleaning up before everyone else comes home," Stan says.
I close Stan's rooms door, finding quite a mess.
"Make yourself at home," he says.
"Didn't bother to clean?" I ask.
"Why would I? I find everything just fine," he says.
I take the book closest to me.
"Stan. I didn't know science fiction was your thing," I say.
"It's not. I do like fantasy as well. I just like the idea that some of this would be a reality someday. For example, robots that can learn from it's surroundings and adapt to a person. It would be amazing to see something like that," Stan says.
"We'll not be alive for that," I say.
Well. I might be, but that wouldn't come off weird at all, saying something like that.
"We're closer than you think. It's fascinating, how far we might get in 20 years. Imagine! We're here in such a short while, 20 years could offer so much. Then possibly 50, oh boy, then it'd become amazing," Stan says.
His eyes are actually shining. Well, the subject is cool, but I don't think I know enough to say anything about it.
"I mean, it would be amazing. Imagine being able to commit to that research! Your life work would be remembered for many many years," Stan says.
I put the Science Fiction book down before picking up an another book.
"Hey. You're trying to learn math?" I ask.
"Yeah. Kyle tried to help me yesterday as well, to be honest, i'm doing pretty well," Stan says.

I put that book down as well.
"Can I look around a little?" I ask.
"Sure. You already did, but like I said, make yourself at home," Stan says.
I look at his work desk.
"You write as well?" I ask.
"Yup, it's fun," Stan says.
"What is it about?" I ask, showing him a paper full of notes.
"That one? Personal. It's... I'm trying to plan something. It's not a story. Would you put it down?" Stan asks.
I nod, putting it next to the other papers.
"Are the rest personal?" I ask.
"No," Stan says.
"What is it about?" I ask, reading a little.
"It's about these three people that all are friends. They start investigating this one crime, but the funny thing is, they live in different countries. So, they're trying to figure it out via Skype and other chats," Stan says.
"Oh, that's really cool. I mean, crime stories aren't really original but that concept is," I say.
"Thanks," Stan says.
I take a hold of a paper labelled 'I gotta remember these songs.'
"You seem to listen to some pretty weird music. Stenny? Is that a singer?" I ask.
"No, but a musician, yeah," Stan says.
"Fall out boy? Are you emo or something?" I ask.
"Their music isn't that bad," Stan says.
"Panic at the disco? Stan, I'm pretty sure you're emo," I say.
"I'm not! It's just nice to listen to," Stan says.
"Hey. You and Kyle must talk about music a lot," I say.
"Yeah, we make each other listen to songs. Why?" Stan asks.
"You have pretty much all the same songs on your lists. Well, Kyle's not an actual list, still, the same songs. Although Kyle has some really calming or sad songs as well," I say.

"Well. Kyle listens to a lot more classical than I," Stan says.
"And rock. He likes every song I tell him about, which is pretty often rock," I say.
"Really? He doesn't tell me about rock songs he likes," Stan says.
"Can I suggest you a couple?" I ask.
"Sure? Just don't troll me," Stan says.
I write two songs names on the paper before putting it down.
"I swear. If you put some porn on it, I'll never forgive you," Stan says.
"What? Porn? No, I was being serious," I say.
I pick up the third book from the floor.
"Hey. Sign language? That's so cool," I say.
"It's pretty interesting. Although that book does not have everything, I can do all the letters, meaning I can, painfully slowly, make sentences," Stan says.
"That's cool," I say.
He take the book and signs me something. Like said, very slowly.
"What did you say?" I ask.
"Your name, K-E-N-N-Y," he says, doing it again in time with the letters he says.
"That's cool," I say.
"Thanks. I don't think a deaf person would understand me though. I have to look at the book every ones and again. Plus, I do it too slowly," Stan says.
"Everybody does things slowly until they learn. Then it becomes faster and faster," I say.
"Do you know any other language than English?" Stan asks.
"A bit of French, Spanish, German, Swedish, Finnish. Kyle taught me Finnish, the language is really fucking crazy. Although he also tried to teach me morse, it went to shit," I say.
"How do you know so many?" Stan asks.
"Hey, no worry, there must be a thing you know a lot of shit about and I don't know anything about," I say.
"I don't think there is," Stan says.
"Well, I don't know shit about robots or technology like that. I'm sure you have better theories than I do," I say.
Stan smiles.
"I don't think I know that much either. I just like speculating," he says.
"But you clearly know more than me, I don't know shit about any of the things you say," I say.
"Robots and things like that are really interesting. I'm just not sure about certain things. What if they went against us? Should we have an automatic destruction button? Could we even kill something like that, if it were to be self aware," Stan says.
"Depends on the severity of the situation. We should have one, just in case. But we should also have someone trusting of the robots as the person taking care of the button. Someone that won't just push it, if they want rights or something," I say.
"Stan! Come help me clean up!" Randy yells.
"Kenny is here!" Stan yells back.
"I can help as well," I say.

The Undead Revolution
This was my first attempt at writing a story, in hiatus indefinitely. This story follows Silvy, half-elf, a rare race despised by both humans and elves. Having never met her father, the first years of her life were spent together with her mother, who had to leave her native village because of the blasphemy she had committed by giving birth to Silvy. At the age of eight, Silvy became an orphan and was left to fend for herself. Her mother had died of illness, Silvy’s life turning upside down: the child went from living in a modest but cozy home with poor but daily meals to live outside the walls in the slums, where crime was commonplace and food was scarce. Luck had yet to abandon her completely though, because a group of orphans like Silvy decided to help, integrating her into their group and teaching the tricks of the trade; that is, stealing and swindling. But fate had not yet finished playing with her. Kidnapped and frightened, her life will turn upside down again when she awakens as undead, but still able to think clearly.
8 136Resurgence of an Immortal - Sample
This is a sample of my upcoming book. Follow Dexter as he's thrown into a world of monsters, both of the human and beast variety. He must survive and grow strong enough to return to Earth and reunite with his beloved fiance Amelia. This progressive fantasy combines Eastern and Western themes. Fans of Dungeons and Dragons or similar book series like Will Wright's Cradle and Tinalynge's Blue Phoenix are sure to enjoy this novel as well. I would appreciate any and all feedback while this is still in an editing stage. Thank you.
