《Freshman》Courtney, Angela

Courtney
Well, this was our first week back at school from vacation. A lot happened.
First, Alex is back from the mental hospital. Not that I care, but he didn’t get as much attention as he did when he went there in seventh grade. I guess he was more likeable back then. Whatever, people change.
Second, Andrew got a girlfriend. And its not me. Her name’s Tina, and she’s a pretty sophomore. I was freaking out, which I shouldn’t do because I’m trying to get over him. But his new girlfriend thing isn’t helping.
I should probably be happy for him, and not at all jealous. But I’m not at all happy, and very jealous. I really hope they don’t last long.
Last, they found Mike! Angela was so happy, she was crying. It was on Friday, and all over the news. He was in New Hampshire for some reason, with these new kids he met.
They’re not letting him come back to school yet, though. I don’t know if they will at all; they shouldn’t. If he’s expelled, I won’t know. No one will tell me.
Angela’s still to in shock to talk about it, so I guess I’ll give her time.

I’m so happy, I can’t explain it.
I thought Mike was dead for crying out loud! I worried, hoped, and prayed every night that he’d come back. I guess it worked.
The police found him with some friends at a lake in New Hampshire. Why he went there, I don’t know.
All that matters is he’s back and safe. I don’t know what I would’ve done if… I can’t even say it.
But anyways, Stupid Alex is back at school. He tried to talk to me for the first time since seventh grade. I was really surprised.

He told me he was sorry for what happened, and he’s changed. I didn’t buy it. People never change.
Maybe he was only talking to me because he knew I was sad about Mike. This happened the day before he came back. Or, maybe Alex really wanted to be my friend again.
But I could never be friends with him again. Its hard to even look at him. Who does he think he is?
Of course I still act as if he doesn’t exist. When someone brings him up, I just pretend I don’t hear it. And it works pretty good, if you ask me.
