I have a black eye.
Today we all had our lockers searched for drugs or whatever. I wasn't worried, but some kids were. You never know when there might be a surprise search here in Hadley. That's why you never do drugs, especially in school. Idiots.
Back to the eye.
I can barely see out of my left eye. No, this wasn't an accident.
I was leaving school, while holding books in my hand that didn't fit in my backpack. It was just a normal walk home.
I was tapped on the shoulder, which of course I turned around to. It was Savannah. She didn't look happy.
"So you think you can go around telling people you made out with me?" She snapped.
"What? I..."
"Save it! Just shut up already! My God, you are... ugh. Just... I can't even look at you right now. Who do you think you fucking are?" She looked more angry than I have ever seen a person. She shook her head, still glaring at me, then turned to walk away. I was still standing there, looking back at her.
She came back, running. Knocked the books out my hand, and all over the ground. I just stood there in disbelief, not saying a word. This attracted some attention. I heard some boys say, "Ooh..." as if they were cheering on Savannah.
There was a big circle around us. I still said nothing.
She clenched her fist.

Next thing I knew, I was in the nurse's office, laying on a bed.
"Oh good, you're awake." Said the nurse.
"W... what happened?" I asked, shakily.
"The little curly haired girl...knocked you out." she muttered. Savannah? Why would she do that? I couldn't remember a thing.
"Well, is she suspended or something?" I asked her.
"Probably. Principal Agosto is still trying to figure out how long he should suspend her for. I'm guessing a week or so."
Minutes later, my mom came rushing into the nurse's office.
"Are you ok?!" She screamed, looking at my eye. It hurt.
I went to the bathroom, and saw black and blue all around my left eye. This was bad.

Synergy
Dear Inspector, Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from being a Player. Hey! Laugh all you want, but I had to try. With no rules down here, who's to say that I can't resign? Anyway, my reasons are simple: I'm neither a gamer nor a hero. You got the wrong person for the job. Sure, the pay is decent and I could pretty much live like a king if, you know, I wasn't so busy trying to survive. I have major concerns about the demonic dagger bound to my soul too. Come to think of it, I've never asked to be transported to this fantasy land either and would like you to return me home, thank you very much. I don't want supernatural powers, I don't want to complete quests after quests, and I don't want to be your test subject anymore. What? I'm not whining, you're whining. Stop making excuses and let me leave already. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope you'll find a better replacement after I'm gone for good. Sincerely,Randel, the Mad Painter What to expect from Synergy: --> Some GameLit elements are presented subversively. If you want the protagonist to “play the game” properly, this might not be the story for you.--> No filler chapters; the story's structure is already plotted out. It's going to have six story arcs.--> Character development happens slowly, over many chapters. Don't expect a perfect protagonist right off the bat.--> Some romance, but it will never be the main focus.--> Humor and dark elements in equal measure, but not to the extent that I’d label this story as “Comedy” or “Grimdark”. ... and lots and lots of Author's Notes. See you on the other side of the portal!
