《Mute - Zelink Modern AU》Topic (17)

After the little argument, there was a little awkward silence that filled the air. For some reason, Zelda's mind was attacked with thoughts of what Link's mother said before she entered the room.
When Zelda said that she really liked Link, she thought it was obvious that she was trying to hint at another feeling that can be expressed through the term 'really like' other than friendship liking someone. Coming to terms with how she felt was quite hard, as she herself wasn't sure what she meant by the phrase. She knew that she liked Link, more than she tended to like people; that still didn't seem to fix her dilemma. Should she tell him? She was completely cut in half, heart and mind at war.
What would she even say in the first place? "Hey, I like you more than I tend to like anything or anyone, but, you know, even I'm not too sure what that means yet" Is there really any point of saying anything before she was certain? She guessed not.
"Now that that's out of the way... Why don't we talk about the presentation?" Zelda dropped, trying to make the conversation and atmosphere a little more light-hearted.
"Yeah. Yeah, that sounds good" Link chirped up, the blushing on his cheeks starting to slightly subside.
A sigh of relief escaped Zelda's lips as she quietly took shallow breaths. Ignoring the butterflies of nerves that fluttered around her stomach was becoming a task she was always acutely aware of around Link. It became an annoyance, effecting how she 'operated' around the other, like sometimes she was a malfunctioning machine.
Link pulled out a piece of paper from under the light oak coloured table, which had the start of a mind map drawn on it, the word 'topic' written in the middle of the page with a bubble around it.

"I... Really don't know what to even talk about. I'm not really passionate about anything" A sigh fell from his lips, the frustration making itself clear.
"Oh... Me neither, really. I've just decided to talk about nature and wildlife. I don't think you have to have a specific opinion, just something that you can talk about. Even if it is just supposed to be informative" Confidence radiated from her words as they spilled from her mouth, the tutor side of her coming out.
"Okay. You're a really good teacher, you know" Link commented, a little smirk appearing on his face as he spoke, picking up a pen as he drew a line extending from the word in the centre of the page.
"I try my best!" She chipperly stated, feeling like she was flying from a simple compliment. This is when she had to take a little time out to herself, to have a word with herself.
Calm down, you dummy. It's just a simple, friendly compliment. No need to let your little brain blow things out of proportion, okay? There is no way in Hyrule that when he compliments you, he means it to flatter you. He's just being nice. Just being nice. Nice....
I actually think I'm going crazy.
She thought to herself, trying not to let her thoughts distract her and take her away from the situation that was at hand, which required actual attention.
"So, a-any ideas?" She coughed in the middle of her question, noticing that her palms were getting sweaty.
"Not immediately. I'll try to think of something, though" He turned to her, again putting on a slight smile. How could he act so cool and laid back? Zelda knew full well that he wasn't laid back at all, so it was truly baffling her.

Oh god, Link, just smile. Smile and everything will be alright. Focus your attention on the paper, your ideas. No, not the girl next to you. Yes, I know full well that she's beautiful; you don't need to remind me. Okay, focus, writing... No, not her.
I actually think I'm going crazy.
"That's okay, take your time. This kind of thing can't just be thought of on the spot" Zelda reassured, almost reaching to take the pen out of Link's hand. For some reason, her 'filter' somehow was delayed in realising that that was a bad idea. She almost actually did it.
Oh gosh. What the heck was that? Calm down, dummy.
She swallowed hard, shuffling in her seat as to try and get her mind off of the nerves that were there.
"Should we look at Maths?" Zelda asked, wanting to slightly change the topic of the conversation. Maybe helping him with something that required genuine focus and attention to complete correctly would be the answer.
"Sure. I do need help in that area" Link replied, seemingly happily, yet embarrassed at the same time.
---------------------------------------------
2 am the digital clock displayed, showing that there were only 5 hours left until Link had to get ready for school. Was that enough time to get a good night sleep? Of course not, but it's not like he wanted to be awake.
The fact that he actually had to choose something to talk about hadn't even crossed his mind, yet it was probably the most important thing of the presentation itself. He was tossing and turning, his mind not letting him sleep at all as it wouldn't rest until it thought of something to talk about for minutes straight.
Thinking about what Zelda said helped him a little bit, but it also distracted him at the same time, so he ended up in a loophole that he didn't know how to get out of.
What can I do? What can I possibly do? It needs to somehow relate to everyone else's interests, as I need to keep them engaged... Maybe the fact that I'll be doing the assessment anyway will be enough to do that. Gosh, this is so much harder than I thought it would be. If Zelda was here, she'd probably start telling me things like "Don't worry about what others think, just talk about something you want to talk about" but I'm afraid that that's simply not possible. I just want the rest of the class to treat me as an equal.
Equal.
Equality.
