"Good" She replied as she pulled into the school car park.
"Well on that note, I need to get going" Zelda said, unbuckling the seatbelt that was tightly embracing her body. "See you later" She opened the car door and hopped out, slamming it behind her.
She was at school almost an hour before she normally was, so she didn't really know where to go or what to do.
Eventually, she just decided to take a slow leisurely walk to the diner, and sit in there for a bit. She could get a head start on homework, and maybe get some cramming in. All she could really do is hope that time would pass quickly.
She cracked open her Chemistry book and started to get some (last minute) revision in. After about half an hour later, she'd gotten fed up of Chemistry and decided to get out her English book; start planning for the speaking assessment. She had no idea in the slightest what she wanted to talk about. She wasn't passionate about a lot of things.
And no one would listen about what she cared strongly about.
After a while of just sitting and staring at white lined paper, she gave up and slammed her pen onto her paper. She cocked her head up immediately as she heard a small chuckle from across the room. She didn't think anyone else was there; the sudden noise made her jump.
But low and behold, Link was walking towards her, right in front of her eyes. Once she realised that the laugh came from Link, she smiled and flamed up in embarrassment. Seeing Zelda in the school environment again and not feeling uncomfortable was a great feeling that Link could warm up to.
He smiled back at Zelda, looking down as he looked at her eyes rather intently. His pace slowed down as that moment did for both of them. It felt like a cheesy moment in a romantic movie where the two love interests 'fall in love' just by one certain look.

However, Link couldn't stay with Zelda, as they both knew anyway that it would cause so much problems.
Once he passed her, they both still had massive smiles from ear to ear. What neither of them noticed though, that midway through their weird cliche moment, some of Zelda's friends had walked in from the opposite side of the room.
As soon as Link noticed, his smile completely vanished and he hung his head lower than it were before.
However, he didn't get away with it. They clearly saw, and he didn't really know what to do. He picked up his pace and walked directly passed them, running to the nearest bathroom as soon as he could. He felt frozen.
They were silent, so Zelda didn't even notice they were there until they said something.
"Did you see that?" One of them said to another.
"Zelda!" She shouted as she sat down next to her, her mouth held wide open.
"Er... Good morning" Zelda laughed, starting to pack up her English book and pen. "You alright?" She awkwardly laughed, going even redder.
"You're so red; you obviously saw that!" She shouted, getting all giddy and excited as she encouraged the two other girls to get as excited as she were.
"I honestly have no idea what you're talking about" Zelda acted, shaking her head in 'confusion'.
"Oh my Goddess! Do you actually have a crush on Link?!" She shouted, shaking Zelda by the shoulders.
"No! I've never even talked to him!" Zelda lied, shaking her off and getting her backpack on her back as she was ready to go to first.
"But you're so defensive about him. Besides, he looks good. It's not to farfetched to say I have a crush on him" Another one of the girls joined in. Her comment made Zelda rather angry.

How can you feel that way about someone you don't know?! You've never communicated in any way, so how the HELL can you think for a second that you have feelings like that for someone you know nothing about?! She thought, breathing deeply to avoid snapping at them.
"I'm gonna go now" She stood up and quickly exited before she could hear anything that anyone said about Link and her. She was willing to protect him till the very end. It really pissed her off how people could say such things.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just like normal, Link and Zelda didn't see eachother unless they were in the same lesson. In this situation on a Monday, they only had last period together, English.
Zelda realised that Link would fail if he didn't stand up and speak, and it didn't seem like he was going to do it. When he was talking to their teacher he seemed really panicked and stressed; Zelda noticed it.
The thought made her rather sad; Link failing part of a GCSE for something it seemed he couldn't control.
Zelda thought that he was just shy, but with what Zelda's mother had told her, it had something to do with why he was seeing her on a regular basis. She really didn't think that 'just being shy' was really why he was so distant from everyone.
Once English (finally) came round, Zelda was happy that she got to see Link in lesson. However, he wasn't there on time.
Zelda stood outside of the door with the rest of the class; they were waiting until the teacher gave them permission to enter. Zelda looked around frantically, getting worried. She knew that he was late quite a lot, especially to English. The teachers never would bat an eyelid though.
In a minute or two, the teacher opened the door and called them in. Zelda immediately noticed that they had a substitute, their normal English teacher must have not been there. In all the years Zelda and Link had lessons together, not once did they have a substitute.
As Zelda walked into the classroom and sat down in her seat, she swallowed hard at the fear that Link would be called out by the teacher when he turned up.
Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes
