《Legend of Zelda ONESHOTS! (read des.)》I Choose You - Zelda x Link

"Zelda, everyone is arriving. Please be ready soon." Princess Zelda's father called out to her. The princess sighed as she looked at her outfit. Today was the day that Zelda's father brought all boys in the kingdom to be inspected. Why? Well, because Zelda was to be assigned a man to be her partner by the end of the night. She was quite worried, but Link, her childhood friend, told her that he'd be there to help her choose the right man.

"Princess! Are you done changing?" One of the maids asked. Zelda looked to the door to see a woman named Alyssastanding at the door. Her outfit was a knee-high light purple dress with a pink lace wrapped around her torso. Cute flower patterns were stitched across the bottom of the dress while she wore white gloves and a purple ribbon in her silky brown hair. The maids had a theme for dresses for every ball that was held. This time, the king wanted to make this ball as fancy and splendid as it could ever be.

"Oh my Hylia, Alyssa. You look divine!" Zelda adored her outfit as Alyssa twirled around.

"Thank you Princess! Now we should get you changed into your outfit! It is after all, your ball!" Zelda stopped for a moment, then turned to see her dress. She had always dreaded this happening, when her mother had told stories of princesses choosing a man to be her husband. She groaned as she walked up to the stunning outfit laid before her.

"Okay, I'll put it on." The Princess got changed into her dress privately, then came out for Alyssa to look. When she saw Alyssa gawking at the outfit, she turned around and faced the mirror to see for herself. Zelda was met with a cerulean blue dress with many gold patterns that went all around her dress. A white lace was tied around her torso with a ribbon tied in the back. The dress went right to the floor, perfect for her height, and the sleeves were off shoulder which created quite a nice fashion sense. She stared in awe as she stared at her green eyes reflecting back to her own self. She felt like a goddess.

Then Alyssa did Zelda's hair, braiding lots of strands of golden locks, then tying them together to create a braid bun. Loose strands of hair flowed on her shoulders like a golden waterfall, and then Alyssa put a blue hairband in her hair to keep everything up. Light makeup was also applied to Zelda's face, and the rest of the accessories matched up perfectly. It all went together beautifully.

"Does.. Does it look okay?" Zelda asked Alyssa. Alyssa widened her eyes.

"Okay? You look absolutely gorgeous! I bet the man you choose will be very grateful and lucky to have you as his wife." Alyssa held her hand out for the princess to take, and they both walked out of Zelda's room. They both went to a balcony, where they got to see the view of all of the men arriving in carriages all across Hyrule. They were all dressed in luxurious tuxedos, a very 'dress to impress' thing to do. But one man stood out of all of them. That one specific blonde boy that wore a royal blue tuxedo.

- Link's POV -

"Oh man, aren't you excited about this, bro? Any man has a chance with the Princess." The man next to me said. I was a little weirded out that every man that was single had to go to the castle and the Princess had to decide which man she wanted.

"Oh, sorry sir. I'm not here for that." I smiled as I thought of the Princess' reaction to her seeing me here.

"Nah, I bet you're here for the SAME exact reason I'm here." The man smirked. I sheepishly smiled at the man.

"Oh, so you're a childhood friend of the Princess herself and is going to help her choose the right man for her to marry? I would be surprised." I watched as the man blushed and rubbed the back of his neck, not wanting to speak anymore. I faced to the front of the carriage, but then a certain princess was spotted out of the corner of my eye.

I turned to see Zelda watching me, and I smiled politely. The grey stone bricks that held the Princess back from falling were covering her dress up, which forbade me the chance to see her dress before the little wedding ceremony. I looked back to the front so see that we arrived at the castle gate, and it opened for us to start heading in. I couldn't wait to see my childhood friend after so long.

Zelda saw Link look at her, then they flashed each other smiles. She then looked to see all of the other men that were heading inside of the castle to be inspected for marriage. It was all overwhelming, to see that everyone there has an interest in her. But could Link... Wait no. He's her childhood friend, there's no way she could have a love interest in him. Plus, he's only here to help her choose a man.

"Are you worried about something, your highness?" Zelda turned to see Alyssa walking up to the Princess. The two girls looked to see everyone heading into the castle, and they then both looked at each other.

"I don't know if I want to do this. I would much rather go out on my own and choose a man. And I would also like to take my time, not choose someone in less than a day. It's all very complicated, and I wish things turned out better." Zelda clasped her hands in front of her, then started walking. "I think father would like me to head down to the main room so I could be introduced formally. Shall we go together?"

Alyssa flashed a smile. "Of course, your majesty."

"Please, call me Zelda."

--------------------------------------------------------------

Everyone was welcomed inside, and they all started to head into the ballroom for the pre-ceremony. Alyssa and Zelda held hands as they made their way up behind some curtains. They peeked to see how many men were there, and boy were there a lot.

"Hey Zelda?" Alyssa called out for her. She had a worried look on her face, then pointed out to a man in a red tuxedo. "Do you mind not choosing that man? I plan on telling him my feelings tonight. If you don't mind, I mean your needs always come first." Zelda waved her hand for Alyssa to stop speaking.

"Of course I won't choose him. Especially if it will end up with a cute and romantic ending for you both!" Zelda covered her mouth, remembering that she had to be quiet or else the reveal of herself wouldn't be that much of a surprise.

"Okay, thank you so much! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go serve refreshments to everyone. Good luck on the ceremony, I know you'll do great." Alyssa whispered the last part, then walked out of the secret room. Zelda thought to herself how she got so lucky to have met Alyssa when she first became a maid, but then she heard her father speaking to all of the men in the room.

"Welcome all of you men! As you know, you were all chosen to be invited to the kingdom because you have a chance to be in marriage with my beautiful daughter, Zelda." When the Princess heard her name, bright lights flickered on and the red velvet curtains that she was hiding behind started to unravel, revealing a beautiful girl stepping down and onto the main platform, where the inspecting would be held. Zelda watched as everyone's eyes landed on her, and the room went silent. The Princess couldn't see anyone's reaction because of the blinding lights, but she could hear whispers of awe.

"This is my daughter, Zelda Hyrule. When the Princess chooses a man to marry, it will be final. Now enjoy all of the delicacies laid out and have fun! Don't forget to talk to the Princess at least once before the choosing." Zelda's father looked at her proudly, and she gulped. She really didn't want this to happen, not at all. Maybe no one here was right for her, and maybe her father would allow her to cancel this. Zelda looked to the man in the red tuxedo, and found Alyssa talking to him. This made the Princess smile, she was glad to see her friend found her loved one.

"Princess Zelda?" Zelda jumped at the sound of the voice.

"Oh! Pardon my reaction, you just scared m- wait... Link?" Zelda's eyes widened. It was her childhood friend, Link. The Link who was there when no one else was. The Link that always played with her in the castle while his father was training, and while Zelda's father was doing the usual king duties. But when he moved away, the Princess didn't see him until now, and man was he handsome. Zelda's jaw dropped, but she soon snapped out of her thought.

"It's... you." Zelda gasped in relief as they both hugged each other. A warmth suddenly rushed through Zelda, something that has never happened. When they both pulled away, Link started up a conversation.

"So, your majesty, have you found anyone that has interested you yet?" Link had some sort of... tone in his voice.

"Oh, please call me Zelda, after all, we are best friends. And uh... well I have only talked to you, so I haven't seen anyone yet." Zelda blushed a little bit, still admiring her bestfriend's looks.

But wait, he's just her best friend. He was only here because the Princess needed help with choosing another man, so of course she couldn't have feelings for Link. But it was a possibility. Maybe Link didn't have any interest in her. Even worse, he might already be seeing someone else.

"My apologies. Well, there are already people lining up to talk to you, you should probably greet them." Link had some regret in his voice, but the Prin- Zelda, didn't notice. Anyways, Zelda still wanted to talk to Link, and Link only. She didn't want to talk to anyone else, and it might seem weird, but she might have taken an interest in Link.

"O-Oh. Well, I probably should talk to them..." Zelda turned to see all of the boys in line to talk to the Princess, and none seemed to catch her interest. As she talked to everyone, Link couldn't help but feel a wave of jealousy wash over him. Seeing his childhood best friend, whom he may or may not have a slight crush on Zelda, to be talking to all of these other guys. He wanted her attention. He just wanted to talk to her.

And even if Link isn't the special someone that Zelda chooses, he will fully support whomever she is in that relationship with. But the fact that she will find someone else that isn't him just makes him sad.

"Link, you're still one of the men that I have to talk to." Zelda smiled warmly, taking her shot. Link smiled back, and Zelda swore she had butterflies angrily swarming in her stomach. He was just so handsome and kind, and this might be the man. The man that she wants to be with.

"Right. Have you found anyone that sparks any interest yet?"

And then, in that moment, she realized.

Link.

It was Link. Link was the one that she would choose.

"I... have my eyes set on one person." Link's expression went from excited to sort of disappointed.

Who could this person be?

"Wh-Who is it? Do I know this person?" Link said out of curiosity, and they both started blushing.

It's you Link. I want to tell you so badly...

"I guess it'll be announced at the ceremony. You'll just have to wait." Zelda smirked, and then Link started pouting, which was one of the cutest things Zelda's ever seen. "But I really do hope that he likes me back."

Link noted a hint of sadness in her tone, and he tried to cheer her up. "Hey, I'm sure that anyone would be so glad to call you their wife. Because you're so caring and sweet and extremely kind, and I really hope that they like you back as well."

To this statement, Zelda smiled, which actually made the whole room light up. "Thank you Link. I really appreciate it."

"Hello gentlemen! Now is the time you've all been waiting for... the choosing!" Zelda's father looked at Zelda, and Zelda looked to Link.

"I... guess I'll be waiting with the others. The man that you choose is very lucky to have such an offer." Now Link was making himself sad. If Zelda chose someone else, he wouldn't know how he would ever live.

"Oh... Okay. See you soon!" Zelda smiled and waved Link off. This time, she wasn't so nervous. She had made up her mind.

Zelda sat on her throne as every man's name was called. She started the rejecting. She didn't care who it was. If it wasn't Link, she would reject them.

"Why is she rejecting everyone so quickly? Has she already figured out who she wants?" A man said to Link as they both looked at the Princess, who was saying polite rejections. Link was the last one in line, so this would take awhile.

"I guess she does have an eye on someone." Link said back to the man.

"To be completely honest with you, I was never wanting to come here. Even if we were forced to, I already have my eye on one of the maids. She's very pretty and her personality is so unique. I don't know why I'm telling you this, but I really hope that the Princess doesn't choose me."

Link nodded to the man in respect, and they ended the conversation. Soon enough, they were near the front of the Princess. After hearing all of the kind rejections, Link was the last one in line.

"Link Hylia!"

Zelda looked at the last man in the line, the one who she's been waiting for so long to see. She stared for a minute, then she almost looked like she was going to cry.

"Zelda, is this man the one you would like to be your husband?" Zelda looked up at her father and flashed a bright smile.

"Y-Yes. I want L-Link to be my husband... If that's okay with h-him." Zelda couldn't help but stutter with embarrassment and excitement. She wanted to see Link's reaction to this, and she also really wanted Link to be her husband. She never realized it, but whenever he was on her mind, she would smile without realizing it. He was so loving and careless about himself. He sounds like the perfect man for Zelda.

Link was so shocked. He never thought once in his life that Zelda would actually choose him. He was overwhelmed by the shock that he didn't realize that everyone started to leave to let them both have some alone time.

Zelda walked up to Link. "Do... Do you accept Link? Would you like to be my husband?" Zelda wanted the answer to be yes so badly. She never thought that she would want him so much, but this is what happened.

"Yes Zelda. I love you so so much and I hated the fact that you might've wanted to be with another guy. The fact killed me so much because I want to be the man to be next to you during tough and great times. I just love you so much." Zelda started crying, while she cried in Link's chest, he smiled softly.

"Do you really mean that Link?" Zelda whimpered. "Because I love you too. I missed you so much and whenever I thought of you I had to push the thoughts away because it made me want to find you and just never leave your side. I want to be with you Link. I want you so badly. I never want you to leave my side ever again. I missed you so badly... I love you." Link started crying now. Everything that they've gone through together would now be a million times better.

"I love you too, Zelda."

--------------------------------------------------------------

"And that's how me and your mother got together." Link told his kids. Zelda laughed and cuddled next to Link.

"Then we had a huge wedding and we had you guys!" Zelda added excitement in the end. Naydrié started clapping her hands while Faoran and Dinrah just sat there in amazement.

"Now it's time to go to bed. We have a big day ahead of us!" Link and Zelda tucked their children in bed and left the room.

"You really don't know how much I love you, my sunshine." Link pulled Zelda into a sweet hug.

"I love you Link."

"I love you too Zelda."

"I don't think we'll ever forget that day." Zelda laughed at the thought. Link laughed as well.

"Well any moment with you is unforgettable." Link smirked as Zelda hit him.

"Especially the dirty ones." Link smirked as Zelda gasped really loudly.

"Why you- GET BACK HERE!" Link ran away from Zelda and into their room, then Link pinned Zelda on the wall.

"It's true, my Princess."

"You mean Queen?"

"No, I am always the dominant one." Link smirked again while Zelda just slapped his arm and walked away.

"Awh, come back here love!"

"Did you just hear that? Faoran? Dinrah?" Naydrié called to them.

"What does 'doing the DIRTY mean' ?" Faoran raises an eyebrow, getting up to walk to the door. When he creaked it open, he saw his parents chasing each other around the hall.

"They're just playing tag." Dinrah said, looking from behind Faoran.

"Let's... just go back to sleep..." Naydrié said, laying back down.

"It was pretty interesting how mommy and daddy met, do you wonder if we'll have a love life similar to that?" Dinrah looked at her siblings, and then got on Faoran's bed. "I mean, I'd like to get a best friend and then choose them to be my partner, only if they want to as well."

"Well what if you wanted to keep them as a friend? You know you don't have to have your best friend as a love interest... And plus, they don't have to be your best friend." Faoran explained, crossing his arms and playing with his blonde hair.

"And you don't even have to get married! Mommy told us that we didn't have to if we didn't want to, even if she was forced to by grandpa." Naydrié added to the conversation.

"Kids? Why are you all awake?" Link and Zelda opened the door, making the kids jump and scramble back into their beds. Link and Zelda giggled.

"We were just talking about the story you told us. It's so romantic!" Dinrah jumped up and down, but Zelda calmed her daughter down.

"We can talk about this in the morning, don't worry. Get some good sleep and we'll discuss about it during breakfast. We love you." Zelda kissed her children and walked to the door. Link did the same, but when they were about to leave, Naydrié stopped them.

"Mommy? Daddy? What does doing the dirty mean?"
