《The First Champion | BOTW Link x GN!Reader》Sand Seal Surfing

A piano sonata fills the emptiness. It was a waltz and you can feel yourself dancing. You sway from side to side, holding onto someone's hand. When you look up, you can see it was Ahgin's. He smiles at you with joy, but you feel nothing but lamentation.
~
You open your eyes and the pain comes back to you. You feel that you are lying in a soft bed and you can hear voices in the room, but you can't seem to understand them. Their words seem distant and slow to process.
You think of Link and try to remember how you got out of the Yiga Clan hideout, but you can't. You didn't.
You try to sit up, but a pain in your legs and lower back stops you. A hand holds your shoulder and pushes you down.
"Lie down, you're still healing," Link's calm voice says. You look up and see his eyes staring back at you, his clothes back in the Desert Vai set. You lie down on the cooling covers and close your eyes. You try to speak, but the dull pain across your entire body stops you.
A Gerudo walks next to Link with a cup of shimmering liquid.
"Drink this. It will help with the pain," she says. You tilt your head up and drink it as she tilts the cup toward you. It is warm and enchantingly comforts you as you taste it on your tongue. You feel your strength coming back to you. The woman takes the cup and places it on the counter. "You had a rough fight at the hideout. It will be best to rest a bit. All of the town is eternally grateful for you to return with the Thunder Helm."
You barely hear her words. You can't get the image of Ahgin's face out of your head. The piano echoes in your head, making you nauseous of guilt and tossing emotions.
The Gerudo hands you three bottles of the healing potion. You take them and slide the covers off of you. You look to the side of your bed and see your Demon Carver, Duplex bow and quiver, and your Desert Vai veil. You sit on the side of the bed and see that your shoes have been removed. You push yourself up and stumble slightly. It hurt to put weight on your legs. Your side ached of where you were thrown on the stone in the arena.
Link gives you his hand and helps you walk over to your stuff. You put on your sand shoes and strapped your weapons on your back. You take the potion bottles and fit them on the belt around your waist. You thank the Gerudo woman and walk out into the bright, afternoon sun.
You take a moment to walk towards the back of the Gerudo walls. You then see a small armory that must belong to the guards. You walk in and see a beautiful golden bow and a heavy golden claymore. You walk up to the giant sword and pick up the two handed weapon. You admire the design and decide to take it. You strap the giant blade on your back and keep the demon carver with it. You then look at the golden bow.
You draw back the bowstring as hard as you can and you notice that it is a little loose for you. You gaze at the glittering gold grip and replace the Duplex bow with the golden one. You make a last decision to take a Gerudo Shield as well.

"Are you sure we can take these," Link asks as he examines a moonlight scimitar. You nod as you look through the tall Gerudo spears. Link shrugs and takes the sword, along with one of the spears and a radiant shield. You silently thank the guards for supplying you with such weaponry and hope that you are allowed to take them.
You walked into the throne room, where Riju isn't sitting on her throne.
"If you're looking for Lady Riju, she is on the second floor," Buliara says. "Normally people aren't allowed in her sleeping quarters, but she has given you permission it seems. Be on your best manners. If she deems you to be a disturbance to her, it will not end well for you!" she snaps and slams her sword on the ground. You nod and turn around.
You walk up the stairs and see Riju staring off into the distance on the balcony.
"I've been waiting for you two," she laughs. "Oh, you needn't say a word. As chief of Gerudo, I can sense the power of the heirloom flowing from you. I know you've succeeded... with a few complications, I understand." You look over at Link and just now noticed his violet bruises. "I am, as you have no doubt noticed, still but a child. The people look at me with nothing but warmth in their eyes, but even this brings me some pain, I will admit... I have tried so hard to be worthy of their love, to be a worthy chief... and to prove to myself that I was worthy too. When the family heirloom was stolen, I felt as though a shadow had fallen over me."
Riju snaps out of her deep trail of thought. She looks at you and Link and puts her hand on her hip. "Yes, your arrival in the midst of all of this must be the work of Lady Urbosa. Now please, give me the Helm." Link takes out the Thunder Helm and gives it to Riju. She turns around and puts it on. "Um. How do I look?" She turns around and shows you. You observe the detail in the gold and how the thunderbolts place in the back. You look at the green eyes of the mask and feel the vibrating power that Riju mentioned. Link quietly gasps behind you. You turn around and look at him, a little startled. You see Link is staring at the helm with a speechless expression, remembering.
"What's wrong? You're just staring. Anyways, what matters now is... How... how is it?! Do I look alright?" Riju asks. You nod.
"It looks good!" you say. "Though it is a bit big." You slightly laugh as the mask slips a bit over her face. Riju smiles and adjusts it.
"The threat Divine Beast Vah Naboris poses has only grown since we began searching for the heirloom. I believe Gerudo itself may be in danger before too long. "As Chief of Gerudo, I must find some way to stop that thing before it threatens my people. Will you help me?"
"Of course," you nod. Riju chuckles.
"Who would have thought that, just before a momentous battle, hearing a simple confident pledge of support from you would be what puts me at ease?" she says and adjusts the helm slipping off. "I'll head out now. Let's meet at lookout post south of town. There's only one way to get close to Naboris, and that is with help of a sand seal. The lookout post isn't too far from town, but you should take a sand seal there. You can get some practice in on the way. I'll be waiting there for you with my favorite sand seal, Patricia." The mask slips on her face again. "Still... it really is a little big," Riju snickers. You smile with her as she adjusts it.

You and Link walk down the stairs. Every step of putting weight on your legs gave you pain. The muscle soreness will drag you down at taking back Naboris. Link notices your slight limping.
"We should rest before meeting Riju at lookout post," he suggests wisely.
"No, we made these people wait for us long enough." You shake your head.
"But... you remember Waterblight Ganon... This one might be much worse. It will require all of our strength to--"
"I said I'm fine," you snap and regret it. Link puts his head down as a silent apology. "I'm sorry," you change your tone instantly. "I shouldn't have taken my anger out on you like that."
"You're forgiven," Link says quietly
You feel yourself getting hungry and think it is best to have some food prepared. You look around the town and you can't find a crockpot. You try and remember if there was one at the bazaar, and you can recall it.
You clear your throat. "We should make some food before heading out," you say. "Lets head to the bazaar." Link nods and follows you out of the town.
You walk in silence to Kara Kara Bazaar and pick up some Voltfruit on the way. If Naboris uses electricity, the fruit's resistance will prove handy.
Once you make it to the oasis, the sun hung low in the sky. Your shadow stretches across the sand against the orange glow of the fire you sit at. You steam the rice for the meal while Link skins the voltfruits.
"When you add nuts to a meal," you share, "it gives it a nice seasoning and boosts the effects in certain recipes." You sprinkle in some crushed acorns as you tuck the filling in the rice balls. When the platter was done, you placed it between you and Link to enjoy while you continued to cook more meals.
The easiest food to carry on hand during battles were the meals on skewers. Meat skewers, mushroom skewers, and seafood skewers were a soldier's best friend. You drizzle over all of the skewers you make with a glaze made form voltfruits to get the magical effects of electricity resistance.
Once the cooking spree was done, which didn't take long, you take a seat with Link under the same tent you slept under nights ago. You enjoy the last of the rice balls as dark falls around you.
It became too dark to head to the lookout post. Fighting Naboris at a time as dark at this would be ill advised. You had no choice but to wait until the next day.
You down a half bottle of healing potion before you sleep for the night. It didn't take long before you feel yourself grow tired with the desire to sleep growing absolute. You watch the fire dance until you can't keep your eyes open anymore. You rest against the rock behind you and you fall asleep.
~
"...(Y/N)..." a voice calls out of the darkness. "...(Y/N)." It grows clearer and you're able to see a figure.
Piano served as background music as you see Ahgin appear before you wearing his attire before the calamity. "How could you do this to me, (Y/N)?"
You sit bolt upright with a sharp gasp. You look around you with your hand inching towards your claymore. Upon seeing there were no real threats, you take a deep breath and lie back down.
You put a hand over your eyes and pant heavily. 'How long am I going to be haunted by nightmares?', you think.
You glance over at Link and see that he is asleep. The purple of twilight can be seen as a halo around the horizon. You decide to take a walk to clear you head, no longer wanting nor needing sleep.
You stand up and go over to the water. You dip your hands in the freezing pond and splash some on your face. You shake off the cold and pull your hair back out of your eyes. You look around and are suddenly much more aware of your surroundings. The cool breeze rustles the leaves in the palm trees above you. The desert seemed to be the most quiet place in all of Hyrule.
You look behind you to the building dimly lit by the fire around it. You walk over to the main building in the bazzar and climb the ladder. Once you reach the top you then take time to appreciate the view. A rush of wind pulls back your hair. You take a deep breath in and try to not think of all that happened in the Yiga Clan base. You hang your feet over the edge and wait for the sun to rise fully.
You look down at the bruises on your knees. You take out a healing potion and take just a small sip. You can feel your strength returning.
The minutes soon lengthened into hours and the sun eventually rose all the way. You climb down from the building and see that Link is still asleep. Not wanting to wake him, you sit on the other side of the stairs and eat your breakfast there. With the sun came the heat all too familiar with you. You cook some sautéd nuts and snack on them while you waited for Link.
Minutes later, Link walks over to you while rubbing his eyes.
"Good morning," he yawns. You see he changed into the Desert Voe set.
"Took you long enough," you joke. "I've waited a while." Link smiles and sits down with you. You offer him some sautéd nuts and you two eat in silence.
After a few minutes, you decide you have waited long enough. You stand up and finish off the last of the treat and head towards the lookout post. A sudden thought stops you as you come up to Gerudo town.
"Wait, Riju said that we need sand seals." You remember. You see a few sand seals rolling on their backs and lazing around near the entrance to Gerudo Town. You see some rope and a shield under a canopy near guards. You take them, hoping they were just abandoned, and crouch down on your knees. You slowly approach a sand seal from behind.
As quick as you can, you take the rope and tie it around the seal's middle. You jumped on the shield and held onto the rope as tight as you can. The seal took off diving in the sands and pulled you along. You tug at the rope to keep you balanced and look over at Link who followed your lead. He wrestled the seal while trying to rope it. He eventually grabbed the other end of the rope and sprang on his shield. You yank the rope, directing the seal toward the lookout post.
The seal was very hard to steer and the shield is very difficult to stay on. You make it to the lookout post and strain as hard as you can against the sand seal to get it to stop. It comes to a halt just before slamming into the stone wall. You get off the shield and pat the seal on the head. It barks contently and rolls over in the sand. You wait for Link to dismount his shield.
You walk with Link to the lookout post. A tall ladder leads up to it. You start heaving your way up the tall climb, careful not to look down. When you reach the top, you see Riju waiting for you. You then remember Link is not wearing the Desert Vai set, but Riju already knows about his true identity, so it shouldn't matter... should it?
Link steps up behind you and Riju turns around.
"What a sight," Riju says. "Divine Beast Vah Naboris is pretty intimidating. If we want to get close to that thing, we'll need to use sand seals. Are you ready?"
"Of course," Link says. You nod with him.
"Feeling confident? Good. Let's get going then. First, we'll use sand seals to get really close to that thing. I'll take the lead. (Y/N), I'm counting on you to shoot at its feet with bomb arrows." You are slightly startled at being addressed, but you nod. "Naboris draws energy from the ground to keep moving. If you damage its feet, I think we can stop it. Those lightning strikes though... Getting hit even once could prove fatal. The Thunder Helm can repel the lightning strikes, protecting me from harm. But it can also shield a limited area around me. You two will have to stay close if you don't want to be shocked." Riju sighs, "and listen... If you're too injured to keep fighting, promise me you'll retreat here to the lookout post. Don't do anything reckless under any circumstances."
You nod.
"Here are some Gerudo bomb arrows. There aren't many, so be sure to put them to good use." Riju hands you twenty arrows with bombs ready to detonate when fired. You take them and add them to the quiver on your waist. "This is the last time I'll ask... Are you ready?" You nod and are thankful for her concern.
You climb down the ladder and grab the rope to your sand seal. You lead your mount around the back of the lookout where Riju is waiting with Patricia. You take out your Golden bow and tighten the bowstring and adjust the arrow neck as Link walks next to you. You and Link simultaneously fish into your pockets for an electricity resistant meat skewer. The two of you eat your meals, and you estimate that the electricity resistance will last you about three minutes. You look at Riju expectingly.
"Can you give me a bit of room, just for a second?" she requests. You nod and back away behind your sand seal. "My name is Riju, descendent of the royal line and leader of the Gerudo people!" she announces to the air and raises her hands. "With the power of the heirloom passed down in my family, I shall calm the Divine Beast Vah Naboris. Ancestors of the Gerudo! Answer my call! Aid me in this task!"
A sudden electric buzz came from the heirloom, twitching and crackling. Green electricity sizzled in the air and a forcefield illuminated around her. You shielded your eyes from the wave of dust and stare in awe at the field of protection around you. Riju puts down her arms and turns towards you.
"Oh, wow! I can feel their power coursing through me!" Riju exclaims, causing the helm to slip again over her face. "Let's move!" she instructs as she adjusts the helm. You form a fist with your hand and nod with Link doing the same gesture next to you. Your sand seal seems to know what is happening and it jumps and dances with excitement.
Riju turns around to face the sand storm being stirred up by Naboris. "Lady Urbosa... please grant Link, (Y/N), and me your protection... " You step on your shield and ready your rope. You look over at Link and make eye contact. He nods with determination and you return the confidence.
"Let's go!" you exclaim.

This is an AU where Lloyd never wanted to be like Garmadon, but Garmadon wants it to be like father like son. Also, to be clear, unless it's stated by me in an author's note, or the star I use to sign my drawings or painting is on the art, I probably found it on Pinterest and in no way mean to take credit for someone else's art.
