You wake up the next day around the early morning. You sit up with the memory from last night refreshing through your thoughts. 'Should I tell Link?' you think. You try and remember what your sword looked like, but the details kept trickling away, like trying to keep water in cupped hands. You look to the table and see the Sheikah Pin waiting to be worn again. You grab it and blink the blurriness out of your eyes, wishing you could remember the name of the musician that gave you the pin.
After a few minutes, you glance outside and see the sun has arisen. You make the decision to wake Link.
"Hey Link, get up," you say and shake his shoulders. He groans and rolls over, covering his head with the covers. "Come on, wake up." No reply. You think of what to say, "I'll make crepes."
His eyes snap open to your words and sits up.
"Alright I'm up," he yawns. You chuckle under your breath.
"Come on, get up. I want to head to Hateno." You say as you pull on your hood and strap on your belt.
"How come?" he inquires.
"I remember they have bomb arrows," you reply. "Plus, it is just down the main road."
"Fair enough," he says.
Once you and Link walk out of the inn, you start making your way back to Ginger.
"You forgetting something?" Link calls. You turn around and raise an eyebrow at his slyness. "You promised breakfast."
"Ugh, right," you say and head back to the cooking station. You make the batter and start cooking up some wildberry crepes. Link watches with interest.
"Do you think you could teach me how to cook?" he asks as he adjusts his seating. You are slightly startled by the request.
"Sure, I guess," you say. You fold in the berries and whipped cream and hand it to Link. He grabs it and starts eating it like he hasn't eaten in months, already getting cream on his face. You laugh and Link looks up, stopping mid-bite.
"What?" he says with his mouth full. "You're such a good cook." You look away and feel your face getting hot at the compliment.
"Thanks," you mutter and start eating your own crepe.
Once both of you are finished, you stand and head for the exit. You see Ginger waiting patiently and go to untie him. You yank one end of the rope and the quick release knot comes right undone. You hop on Ginger's saddle with Link following suit.
You head for Hateno. The journey there was so quiet, you were lost in thought the whole way, listening to the wildlife. You hardly noticed that you didn't have to direct Ginger, as he just followed the path all on his own.

When you arrive in Hateno, you smile at the beauty of the place. You lead Ginger to the nearest post and tie him once again. He lets out an annoyed neigh. You pat his nose to comfort him.
"I know, I know Ginger. But we won't be here for long. Here, have a snack." You get out an apple from your bag and toss it. Ginger catches it and starts chomping loudly. You walk to the merchant and see the selection of bomb arrows you came here for. You grab the three bundles and the others and walked up to the counter.
"Bomb arrows? That will be 600 rupees," he says.
"Sweet Hylia I don't have that much!" you gasp. You put back a few arrows and the price dropped quite a few. Bomb arrows are very useful so it only makes sense that they would be crazy expensive.
Link buys some cooking ingredients. You assumed these were for the times you are going to teach him how to cook.
You walk out of the store and are about to leave Hateno, when a consistent banging noise catches your attention. You stop and look around for the source.
"What's wrong?" Link asks upon noticing your unusual stillness. You stay silent and listen. The noice sounds like it is coming from the newly built houses up the hills. Without a word, you walk past the vibrant colors of bricks and find a bridge leading to a house hidden behind the rest. You see two men with sledge hammers breaking away at the stone. You walk up to one of them.
"What are you doing?" you ask. "How come you are tearing the house down?"
"No one has lived in it for years," the man with a tall bowl-cut answers. "Boss has told us to tear it down to build a better one. It is just a waste of space right now." You frown and walk around the building to the other worker with the sledge hammer before seeing a man standing behind the house wearing a pink headband and a scarf made of fur.
"Hey!" he greets in sing-song. "Need something from me?"
"What are you doing?" you ask in a polite tone.
"In case it is not obvious, I am demolishing a house. Times are rough. Not a lot of buyers y'know? So the villagers thought it was best to tear it down," he declares.
"I can buy it!" Link blurts behind you. You turn and look at him before clicking your tongue.
"Woah get a load of young moneybags... Just wants to 'buy' it, huh?" he mutters. "Okey-doo... Let me lay it out for you. See this house? Been vacant for years. So the villagers had a meeting, argued, voted, and decided to tear it down. The demolishing costs, with associated fees, permits, and other such details... come in at 50,000 rupees."

You and Link stare bewildered at his words.
"So when you say you want to 'buy' it, you are talking about 50,000 rupees. You got that much on you?" he slightly laughs which comes off as mockery.
"Impossible..." you gape.
"Heh... figured. When I was your age, I had serious money problems too, so I know how it feels too well." He sighs and comes to a conclusion in his mind. "...Alright. Alright, look. Here's the deal! Just for you! I'll cut you a special price of 3,000 rupees. But in return," he shouts, making you jump. "I'm going to need you to bring me 30 bundles of wood. Building materials... you know how it is. Anyways, you understand the terms? Then get to it. And show me what you are built out of." You sigh at the pun. "...That's a construction joke," he clarifies without need.
"Hudson! Karson! Stop what you're doing!" he yells.
"You got it!" the man named Hudson calls back, the same man you talked to earlier.
You turn around to Link and thin your lips in a glare. "Impulsive?" you scold. Link playfully hits your arm in a 'don't worry about it'. He starts walking off and leaves you staring at him. You jog to catch up.
"What do you think you're doing?" you scoff. "We can't afford 3,000 rupees! We'll be completely broke! When I said I wanted to come here, I meant a quick--"
"Calm down," he smiles. "It won't take long. Plus--" he leans in slyly-- "you'd have a place to put the Lightscale Trident."
You take a breath to retort, but finding him annoyingly right. Instead, you shake your head and dramatically close your eyes. "Fine," you give in. "But you're getting the wood."
Link shoots you a charming smile and leaves to borrow an axe. You sigh a puff out your cheeks knowing this stay in Hateno is going to take longer than you would've liked.

Pockets full with mushrooms, apples, herbs, monster parts, talus gems, and much more, you wander in the woods by the front of Hateno to look for Link. Multiple tree trunk stumps can be seen strewn about the place. Finally, you find Link collapsed in the grass with an almost broken axe in one hand.
You quicken your pace as you walk over to him but relax upon seeing he was merely exhausted. "You okay?" you ask him.
"Yeah, I..." he trails off as he breathes heavily.
"You done?"
"Yeah, just... five more minutes," he waves a hand in the air to dismiss you. You smile and shake your head before turning to sell everything you have collected. It takes a good amount of time to place everything onto the counter that you have collected.
"Alright," the store clerk says and counts the items you collected, "the grand total should be about 2,328 rupees."
"I'm--" you close your eyes to resist shouting as you added the number to the rupees you already had. "I'm 200 rupees short." You tell the clerk to wait a second while you pop your head out the door. "Link!"
Said boy walked out of the woods seconds later to look for you. Once he spots you, you motion for him to come over, which he does with haste. "I'm 200 short," you explain angrily, "you're covering for me."
"Oh, okay," he nods in understanding and fishes a handful of lizalfos talons out of his pockets. The shop keeper, who was already uncomfortable having almost witnessing a quarrel, widened his eyes in disgust at the ever growing pile of monster parts.
"Make that 2,553," he totals. He hands you the rupees and takes the materials.
You and Link head over to the house where Bolson, the boss, is. Link sets down the bundles of wood in front of his feet sitting at the crockpot fire by the house.
"All I needed to see... Good-faith wood. You're obviously serious about this, and now I know it. So, as promised, I'll sell you the house for the low price of 3,000 rupees." You step forward with a bag of rupees which causes Bolson to gawk. "Seriously? You're going to give me the 3,000 rupees? Like, with the three zeros? You're not posturing?" You nod skeptically in response. "No way! I'll just take that off your hands." You hand him the heavy bag which he takes happily.
"Thanks for the sweet investment," he says. "Spending so much money on anything your age... it's just so... studly!"
"Speak for him," you give Link a side-look.
"I sprinkled in some fresh furniture as a house warming gift. I saw myself in you too well, so why not be a little buddy-buddy? Feel free to thank me. Both of us just hit a milestone, huh? Time to kick back and get leisurely, baby!" Bolson crosses his legs and sits back.
You turn to get a look inside the house but see Link steps ahead of you. You enter the house with him and freeze as you see the 'fresh furniture'.
The polished mahogany tables and chairs smelled refreshingly like lemon and sand wood. To your left is a small counter with cupboards where provided cookware was stored. To your right, you can hear Link climb the stairs to the half landing. You walk up after him and see two beds with folded, quilt covers, each beside small tables with fresh flowers in vases.
Bolson outdid himself.
"Think it's worth it?" Link flashes a smile.
"For one afternoon of work," you gaze around the room, "yes."
