《Breath of Life | LoZBoTW》The Champion's Ballad

Once they finally made it to the Gerudo Desert, they found the structure, listened to Kass's song, found the locations, got the emblems, and went back in Urbosa's memory to fight Thunderblight Ganon. He was always the hardest one they'd fought. Some of his tactics were challenging to figure out how to beat. They barely came out successful, they were tried and hurt. They listened to Kass's song anyways. He told them about when Zelda talked to her. She heroically took on the duty of taming Naboris, and talked about Zelda's mother. Yiga members threatened Zelda's safety, and Urbosa fought them off incredibly, showing off her lightning powers. What Emery would give to be able to meet all the original Champions. After that, they headed to Rito Village. Finding the structure there was relatively easy. They completed the trials and then went on to venture through Revali's memories and fight Windblight Ganon. He was the easiest one to fight. Oddly enough, Emery had the most fun fighting Waterblight Ganon.

They listened to Kass's song about Revali, telling the story of how Zelda came to ask him. He was showing off his skill of Revali's Gale and Zelda saw him fail. The second time, he got it right. He was still as cocky as ever no matter what, though. He voiced his jealousy of Link being the knight, and Zelda agreed that she didn't know if he was cut out for it. Link had proven them wrong now, obviously, but she wondered how satisfactory it was for him to know this. Maybe not so much because he himself now in this state hadn't lived through all the doubts, but even so... Remembering it, knowing it, he should feel incredible about what he's done for this world. But so should she, too.

After doing each of the Champion's song trials, they were rewarded with each of the Champion's being able to help them more often than before with their special powers.

"I am Maz Koshia. I must commend you both for conquering the trial thus far. The door to the final trial is now open at the Shrine of Resurrection. Go, and face your destinies."

After resting in the inn, they made the journey back to the Great Plateau. There, they entered the Shrine of Resurrection. Link placed the Sheikah Slate in the pedestal like ordered to, and all the sudden, the ground tumbled beneath their feet. Link reached out to steady Emery. They both were fine, but watched as the glass door that had slide down showed the mechanics as they moved from the place of the Shrine to somewhere else. As soon as the door allowed them to enter, they rushed in.

"Welcome, heroes. You have overcome many trials to reach me. Now, it is time to face the final trial. This trial is a complex labyrinth. You'll need a map to begin. You may obtain map information from the Guidance Stone." They walked towards the Guidance Stone as instructed, taking in the sights. It looked like a fifth Divine Beast. Was that what it was? Was it supposed to be the heroes'? And how have they reached Maz Koshia? Who was he and where was he?

They got the map, but faced with guardian enemies along the way. They were nothing. They fought them off and went into the four rooms. Each had to do with lighting, wind, fire, and water. Just like the four Champions. They solved each puzzles after what seemed like hours. They were of course tricky, but with their combined minds and skills, they got it done quickly. They just wanted to take their time. This all took them so far back, to what it was like before. Emery would do anything to go back, and honestly redo it. She wanted to relieve it all, but without being a brat. She wanted to tell Link sooner that she loved him, and she wanted to be unapologetic about it. He loved her no matter what, and she knew that now. She trusted him and she loved him too. They were meant to be, forever and always. Nothing would ever come between them now, they were too strong and invincible.

Each time they got a terminal, it eliminated a lock from the large door. Finally, they were all unlocked. They stepped and it revealed the monk. That must be Maz Koshia. But this was it? No boss fight? Link and Emery shared an unsure glance. They knew it couldn't be that easy, there had to be something else, so they'd be on their guard. They stepped up to the monk, and Link tapped the bubble around him. It disintegrated and he spoke to them.

"You both have proven to possess the power of true heroes. In the name of Goddess Hylia," He spoke, and they glanced at each other once more as his fingers started to twitch. All at once, he stood from his place and put his hands in prayer. "I offer this final trial!"

They were teleported elsewhere, high up in the sky. They looked around. You could see all of Hyrule from up there. It was incredible, breathtaking. Nonetheless, it was time to battle. They couldn't focus on that right now. This was their final trial. It was Maz Koshia. He must've been the one who was the expertise on battle. It started to rain as he appeared in the middle, and Link and Emery pulled it their weapons.

"Let us begin." He stated as he moved his arms around, showing his Sheikah magic. He took on all kinds of forms that the Yiga did. They were use to this, they knew the battle patterns, only it was more extreme because they were in the sky on a tilting platform, with Maz Koshia who was actually a expert on battle. They went in confident though, they had to. They knew they were just as strong. They could deal with magic. They had Sheikah Slate and skill. Besides, they wouldn't die. Goddess Hylia wouldn't let it happen, not that they'd be close enough to it.

They began to fight, and though it was irritating, tiring, and tedious, they came out successful in the end. For his final phase, he became bigger than Calamity Ganon was, or so Link said. Emery would never know. They fought him off anyways, using some of his own tactics against him like Master Koga. The monk returned to his original state, and they rushed up to him to see what he had to say as he sat there looking all important.

"You both faced that challenge with great courage. It is why you share the Triforce of Courage. You have erased all doubt from my mind: you are true heroes. As such, you were destined to share and take hold of this ancient masterpiece..."

The ground shook beneath them again like it always did, and Emery was convinced that the Sheikah was some entirely higher race they'd always underestimated. The platform they were on began to alter as the three sides came up and met in the middle. The platform rose at different places to create steps all around up to the middle platform. They walked up to it and watched. The platform opened and up rose something... a contraption of some sorts... It looked incredible, but they weren't exactly sure what it was. All they knew, was it was revolutionary. Link placed his Sheikah Slate in the pedestal, to which it was distilling rune. Emery watched intently with amazement as it did. The contraption disintegrated and began millions of tiny droplets of Sheikah magic, concentrating into one as it went through the Guidance Stone. It was programmed in Ancient Hylian, Emery could barely read it. It was nothing truly important, stuff she really couldn't understand. At the end, a larger droplet developed, and once it was done it splattered into the Sheikah Slate which absorbed it. It was absolutely incredible. Emery was amazed. The pedestal returned the Slate to them, and they read the rune name. The Master Cycle Zero. You could summon it anywhere at anytime, and use any resource as fuel. It was a motorcycle.

"That which you have obtained is a masterpiece is innovation created for the two true heroes. Heroes of Hyrule, may the Goddess smile upon you." They were then teleported back to the Great Plateau, right outside of the Shrine of Resurrection. There stood Kass, looking out upon the land. Link remembered this spot, as he looked out upon it when he first awoke a long time ago.

"Oh. It's you two. I can't put my feather on it, but it seems like you two have accomplished more since I last met you. I happen to have the perfect song for someone as esteemed as you both. I would love to sing it for you both. My teacher's unfinished song, the one I told you two about, I finally completed the key verses! It takes place 100 years ago in Hyrule Castle. It's about the magnificent inauguration of the original Champions. If you would, please listen to this special song entitled The Champions Ballad."

They listened to his song politely, which told the story about their inauguration and their meeting and photo afterwards. Kass even gave it to Link, as he had recovered it. Emery looked at it. She had never seen real depictions of them all. Now she had. She couldn't believe that's the way they all looked. They all looked heroic and incredible, but most of all... loving, friendly, caring. She would do anything to have met them, and sadly for Link, he didn't even know them that well. Not now, and hardly before. It was hilarious to read their written accounts, how Mipha was embarrassingly in love with him, how he and Daruk shared a live for food, how Urbosa originally showed him the Vie outfit to get into town, but Revali wasn't that fond of him. Still, he secretly had good things to say about him.

Emery chuckled as she pointed to Link's shocked face in the picture. He grinned at her in reply. It was pretty funny. She could see that Daruk had pushed them all together last minute in attempt to get them closer. As she looked at it longer, Link noticed a sad smile on her lips. "What's with the sad look?"

"Oh, nothing. I don't know." She shrugged as she continued to look at it. "Do you remember it?"

"I do now." He nodded. She just continued to smile at it, but it was still sad. "What are you thinking?"

"I wish I could've been a part of it. I wish I had known them and met them all." She chewed her lip. They sat at the edge of that cliff, looking over Hyrule as the sun set.

"I guess I understand where your coming from, they were incredible people. I regret that even I didn't get to know some of them as well. Even Revali had his perks I missed out on. They all lived short lives. Too short. It's tragic what happened, but I like to be hopeful. I like to believe it all happened for a reason. And you're here now, after all of it, for a reason. If you had been here before, then only one of us would've been able to be brought back by the Shrine of Resurrection. You would've been lost to me forever, and I wouldn't have remembered you that well. It would've sucked Emery, and for my sake, I'm glad you're here now." He put his arm around her waist, and she leaned into him. She still held the picture in her hands.

"I still want to know what it was like back then. To be so close to you all, members of the past, it's hard not to wonder. I want to know what you were like, what the Champions were like, King Rhoam, how life was back then. I want to meet Purah and I want to see the castle before. I want to know Zelda before. I want to meet your parents and your sister. I want to know what it was like." She sighed, her eyes wide as she talked about it. It was excitement. She wanted to know so badly. "Is it terrible of me to say that I want to experience the memories you experienced from the Sheikah Slate? To experience the rise of Calamity Ganon?"

He shook his head 'no'. "It's understandable. You're curious."

"But it's not just that. I am curious, but I want to exist then, not now. What if we could've done something else? What if, together, we could've defeated Calamity Ganon before the one hundred years?" She sat up and looked at him right now, her mind running wild.

"I would assume that wouldn't happen, since you're here now. There's a reason for that, you know?" He said. She just nodded slowly.

"I like to have hope." She declared and he eyed her.

"That's good of you."

"What do you think it would've been like back then, had I been there?" She asked him. He shrugged, but then thought for a moment.

"I don't know if I ever would've told you about my feelings in enough time for it to matter. I'm thankful you're here now, Emery, and you should be too. Everything that's happened is right. If there was a way, there's no reason to meddle with the past." He shook his head. She knew how he was. Curious but not enough to kill the cat. He was too uptight sometimes.

"You're right." She nodded, and they didn't talk about it again.

"Why don't we take this thing for a spin then?" He proposed, pulling out the Sheikah Slate and summoning the Divine Beast. They looked at it with awe. Emery filled it up with ChuChu jellies for gas, ten to fill it up and it was like the most useless resource in the whole the world. He climbed on it, and then her. She'd let him have it this time. She wrapped her arms around him, and he instantly took off down the path path from the Shrine of Resurrection.

"Link!" She exclaimed, but let out a laugh. She just noticed his smile as the breath of the wild flowed through his hair. She loved him. This was where she wanted to be forever: with him. He was everything, a beautiful golden boy with talent beyond circumstance. She was fearless around him, comfortable, like she was at home. His touch was beyond compare to anything she'd ever felt before. She only hoped he felt the same way, but he had to right? She knew now, after all these years, that she had to have faith in the Goddess Hylia. She did all this for her, after all. "This is incredible!"

"I know, I mean, I don't know how those people made these things! It's simply mind blowing!" He yelled over the loudness of the cycle. Pure joy was evident on him. She watched as he got closer and closer to the edge, not slowing down.

"Link, what are you doing?!" She gripped him tighter.

"Just trust me." He glanced back at her with a smile on his lips. It was so reassuring that she didn't say another word. "If this thing is as incredible and invincible as the Divine Beasts are, then we should be able to..."

He stopped as they drive off the edge of the Great Plateau, seemingly stopping in mid air for a second before descending down to the ground. It was a hard bump, but they made it fine.

"I told you! This is amazing! This thing can never break!" He grinned as her excitedly. She just nodded in reply. "I love you."

"I love you too." She replied. She wondered why he had said it out of the blue. He was feeling the same emotions as she was.
