The next day they were awoke by the sun shining through the window. Emery climbed out of bed, noticing that Link wasn't anywhere to be seen as of now. She shrugged to herself and pulled her traveling outfit back on. After brushing her hair and such, she exited the room to find Link and Zelda. One rule about being a hero or a warrior in general is you always carry your weapons on you, so that's just what she did. Once she stepped out of her room, she approached Zelda's. Before she knocked, she heard talking and stopped. She didn't mean to listen in, but she couldn't stop herself.
"I just can't bare to look at you." Zelda groaned.
"Why? I thought everything was fine." She heard Link's voice reply.
"It can't be fine when I know you were in love with me before." She spoke boldly. There was a short silence.
"I don't remember that-"
"You hadn't regained all your memories, which is why I know you truly don't remember me."
"I'm telling you I remember everything." He sighed.
"Then why did you hold me like you did when we were running? Why did you take your last breath while fighting to protect me?" She asked, and you could hear her tears.
"What was I suppose to do, push you off of me? And- are you forgetting that was my one job aside from helping you seal Ganon? It was to protect you, and we were both in imminent danger. Besides, running like you told me wouldn't have gotten me far." He replied.
She was silent. "I see. And what about the time you told me you loved me?"
After hearing that, Emery decided to start her day without the two of them. She exited the castle, being greeted by the guards. "If Link and Zelda ask where I am, can you please tell them I've went off into Castle Town?"
"Sure thing, hero." The older man replied. She nodded slightly and walked through the gigantic doors. She stepped onto the stone walkway from the castle entrance straight through Castle Town. She kind of felt nothing at the moment. She was just numb. What was she meant to feel after hearing such a conversation between the two of them? She wasn't really hurt, she wasn't not upset. Honestly, she didn't know how to feel.
"Good morning, Lady Emery!" People greeted her as she walked through the town. She smiled politely and waved back, representing her name well.
"Emery, do you think you have time for a quick bow lesson?" A boy approached her. He looked about her age, and he was very hopeful.
"Uh-" was she allowed to say no? She wasn't in the mood, and she didn't necessarily have time to be messing around like that. Before she could reply, they were interrupted. She turned around to see guards running towards her. Her heart plummeted.
"Emery, the Yiga invaded the castle. We tried to fend them off, but they moved too quickly and in the shadows. We've not much experience in fighting them. They took Zelda and Link." One of them spoke breathlessly.
"You must do all you can to protect Castle Town. Be on high alert but don't scare the inhabitants. You-" she pointed to the boy. "Another day, yeah?"
She didn't wait to watch as he gulped and nodded quickly. She dashed off towards the exit of Castle Town, grabbing her horse from the royal stables on the way. She dashed off in the direction of the Yiga Clan hideout that they still used. Fortunate for her, it would be easy to find them. She just hoped she wasn't too late.

It took a while to arrive in the Gerudo Dessert Highlands, but she finally did. It would be nightfall soon, and she preferred to hurry. Honestly, she was just worried. She didn't want them to hurt Link- or Zelda. Their names sounded just so good together... She focused her thoughts back in on the task at hand. Finally, she dashed through the eerie trail leading to the hideout. She was anything but scared. They were becoming not so much of an enemy as they are a burden.
She entered the hideout, leaving her horse outside. Rushing in, she watched herself. She got her bow at the ready. It would kill in one shot. She walked through the opening and saw an empty cell. That wasn't where Link and Zelda were... she was crouched close to the floor as she snuck around. They were everywhere, but it wasn't that much of a threat to her. She jumped down, letting her confidence get the best of her. They all came at her at once. She took their slow pace at her advantage and shot as many as she could. Then, she managed to dodge them and hit them from behind. They kept coming and coming. She continued to perfectly dodge them all so she could shoot them precisely between the eyes. There were soon none left in the main room, so she continued on to find Link and Zelda.
She stood behind a wall just beyond the entrance to another room. She listened in, attempting to scope out the room before she entered. It was good to get an idea of what you were getting into before you do. "You call us stupid, but you're the ones who keep getting captured by us."
"Why do you insist on capturing us?" Zelda asked.
"Because, we want you dead. What an idiotic question."
"Well then, why don't you just kill us?" Link retorted.
"Because we don't only want you and the Queen dead. We want Emery dead, too. That hurts your little soul, doesn't it hero? Images of the dead hero and your other half dance in your head." The member laughed manically. "She's the smartest of you all, so we have to lure her into a trap some how. This is the perfect way. Her best friend and the love of her life. There's no way she'll get past our guards out there, sneaking around or not. We're from the Sheikah, we're quite advanced despite what you think about us. Soon as I get news that she's dead, you're both dead."
Emery wondered when her best time to strike was, so she waited a bit longer. "Boss, they're not replying to signals."
"What do you mean by that?" The member replied.
"I mean, maybe they're not as attentive as we thought..?" The other hesitated.
"Well, go check on them!" The boss yelled at him.
"Y-yes sir." He said, and you could hear his tiny feet scurry quickly against the stone floor. Emery waited, then drew her bow and hit him in the back of his head. He was so scared he didn't even notice her standing there. She rushed into the room, shooting an arrow into the bosses head. She almost missed, but she didn't. She never misses. More and more came at her, and she did the same as in the other room. She jumped around all over the place, using the advantage of a rock wall to grab onto it and jump over big groups in a split second. Then, she would shoot them all. Link and Zelda watched with amazement. It turned out they never really realized how good of a warrior she was until now.

A bigger member snuck up behind her, but she stopped and sensed him behind her. He drew back his sword, and as soon as he swung she jumped back and attacked him when he least expected it with her own sword. It seemed like there were no more. She glanced around, then dusted off her hands when she realized there were no more. She walked over to Link and Zelda, first untying Link. He rubbed his raw wrists. She then undid Zelda's ties and they were all silent. Finally, one of them broke the silence. "If it weren't for you Emery, Link and I surely would've rotted here."
"It's what I do." She shrugged. She couldn't help but be awkward after what she heard this morning. Though, she knew she had to get over it seeing what had almost just occurred. They walked out of the hideout that was hopefully abandoned now. Then, walked the rest of the way out of the Highlands. They found another horse, which Zelda managed to ride back to the castle. Link sat behind Emery as they rode hers.
They got back a bit after night set in. People were overjoyed to see them. Stuff like this keeps happening, and it gets irritating. Either way, it was Emery's job. There's always going to be evil in the world that wants to get back at the good. There's always going to be evil that wants to kidnap the good, but anyways...
After an exhausting day for Emery mainly, they journeyed up to their rooms. Emery demanded the troops at high alert for the time being until she said otherwise. She took it upon herself to order them. Link followed after her as they stepped into their room. She instantly opted to take a hot shower to relax her tense shoulders. Besides, she was dirty and she scraped her skin many times. Even though it burned when she took a shower because she was always injured in some way, she still enjoyed it. Once she came out, Link pulled her into a hug. She was taken by surprise and reluctantly hugged back. The thoughts of this morning made her ill. Why would they talk about such things behind her back? Did they even care for her at all? Despite what was said, the mere topic they spoke of felt like betrayal.
"Thank you." He said. She nodded, and he noticed she was being distant. "You're an incredibly warrior, you know? I was really watching you for once, and it reminded me of the first time I saw you. We've grown so much."
"I know." She replied, being short with him. He knew she had to have heard what he and Zelda were talking about this morning. There was no other way she would treat him like this after what just happened.
"So, how much did you hear?" He asked finally.
Her head popped up and she actually looked at him. "What?"
"You know what." He said gently.
"Enough." She replied.
"She brought it up, was I suppose to ignore her?" He sighed.
"No, it's not that... I just-" she paused. "I'm not even hurt, I just don't know how to feel. She's right, you loved her. In every legend, you were in love with Zelda and you saved her because you loved her. It doesn't make sense. I'm not in any of the legends, there's not a second hero. It's just boy who saves the world and his princess. It just doesn't make sense, especially since I am me. Boys don't fall for girls like me. I just don't get it, Link."
"This isn't just another legend, this is real. How do you know any of those legends are real? They're probably just stories since you're obviously a part of it and you're not included. You know they can't be true because they're false, so why do you say stuff like this?" He frowned.
"Because I just don't know what to believe anymore." She replied.
"What do you mean?"
"Nothing makes sense. I don't believe we're meant to be together, it doesn't add up. I think you're meant to be with Zelda." Her eyes didn't meet his.
"You really think that?" He asked. She nodded. "So, do you even care for me at all?"
Her glossy, green eyes met his. "Link, that's not-"
"It sure sounds like it! Why do you keep trying to push me away, Emery? After everything? I don't get it. I've done everything I can to prove myself to you, yet it's not enough. You have to learn to love yourself before anyone else can. Obviously, you're nowhere near that. But it's fine. I'll leave you alone like you want." He crossed his arms.
Her chest was full of pain and pressure. Her heart was being weighed down. She felt as if the world was toppling down onto her. "It's better off that way for everyone."
"Even for you?" He replied. She hesitated before nodding, which took everything in her. He shook his head in disbelief. "After everything... I told you I loved you, Emery-"
"Actions speak louder than words."
"My actions speak volumes, Emery! It's you who can't see that! It's you who won't let me love you!"
"It's not only me who can see that you were in love with Zelda!" They raised their voices at each other, bit by bit.
"Yeah! Maybe I was! Why doesn't anyone believe the person in question about their own feelings? I don't even remember being in love with Zelda! Why do you want me to be in love with her so bad?!" He yelled.
"Because it's the way it's suppose to be! This doesn't fit, this doesn't work! Do you hear me? We don't make sense! I'm some girl who creates these problems for everybody like now, and you don't need that! You've made it evident that I'm a burden and I will gladly leave you alone!" She yelled back.
"God, Emery, you're only a burden when you act like this!" His voice echoed off the walls. They were silent. "I didn't-"
She pointed an accusing finger at him. "Don't you dare try and take it back when you've already said. You meant it or you wouldn't have said it. There's no such thing as 'we all say things we don't mean' it's more like 'we all say things we mean but shouldn't and this is our way of validating them'."
He didn't know what to say, because she was right. He really didn't mean to be so harsh about it, and it wasn't so much he meant she was burden. He just meant it hurt him when she thought these things and was so disrespectful towards herself.
"I told you, we're better off apart. That's the way it's meant to be." She said, her voice barely above a whisper. She turned and opened the door, but he wasn't about to let her get away. He pulled her back strongly, and pushed the door shut. He pinned her against it.
"I love you Emery. I don't care what you think about that, because whether you like it or not I do. I'm so in love with you that I can't let you go. I don't care if you want to let go, I'm not. You know deep down we're meant to be together. If we weren't our souls wouldn't literally be bound with this Triforce. So, stop... Quit stopping me from loving you. Just let me in, Emery. I'm begging you to. Please." He begged. Their faces were inches apart, and the pressure on her chest still remained. A chill ran down her spine, she was only in a silk tank top and shorts to match. It was rather cold in this room, especially with how cold she was being towards him.
"Okay." She muttered out. His blue eyes stared into emerald stones that sparkled like the trees, the grass, and the wild. She was truly like a breath of the wild, a breath of life.
"Okay." He repeated just as quietly. Both of their eyes glanced down to the others lips. His were slightly parted, and he watched as she bit hers. He couldn't help himself as he crashed his lips into hers. Nothing else mattered except for them in this moment. Emery finally let her walls down as he pushed her against her door. She wrapped her arms around his waist, pulling his oh-so-warm body against hers. She couldn't help but feel like she was right where she needed to be. This feeling was something she wanted all the time. Still, she felt like she didn't deserve it.
His tongue danced along hers, and his hands rested against the wall on either side of her. She slid her hands up his tunic, caressing his back. His body was pressed all the way against hers as she pulled on him. As he parted slightly, she tugged on his lip with her teeth. She felt him smile against her lips. He began to leave a kiss on the corner of her mouth, then to her cheek, on to her jaw bone, and a trail leading down her neck. As he left wet kiss on her neck, he grinned with content when he heard a slight gasp escape her lips. He felt her hands grip onto his back. All the sudden, she felt his hands trail down onto her legs and jerked them up, wrapping them around his waist. He was strong, that was for sure. A factor that was extremely attractive in this moment.
He pushed her down onto their luxurious bed, and continued to leave kisses on her bare collarbones. Each kiss sent a shiver down her spine as he moved further down. He started to tug on her skin with his teeth, and then sucked which made her let out a small moan. Her breaths were quick as she gasped for air. She started to tug at the bottom of his shirt, which he gladly pulled off. He reconnected their lips, and she ran her hands up and down his chiseled chest. Her fingers danced along a few scars he'd gained throughout his years.
He soon started to pull off her shirt, and he noticed a few scars too. They were both meant to be, there was no doubt. Their souls were literally bound to each other, and without the other they cannot be happy. Which is why Emery found happiness all these years only after Link resurrected.
"I think you have the most perfect body." He whispered into her ear as he began to kiss down her neck again. He left a couple more marks now. He kissed her chest, then she grabbed him and flipped him onto the bed. She straddled him, and all of it being so sudden took him by surprise. She ran her hands through his long hair- he was in need for a trim soon- as she kissed him gracefully. He placed his hands on her butt as she sat on top of him. She kissed down his neck also, and he never knew something could feel so good. He knew it wouldn't be as good if it wasn't with Emery, though. She pulled off his Hylian Trousers, exposing him somewhat. He took the lead again, that was the way he liked it. He pulled off her shorts and they spent a lovely night under the moon together.
