《Breath of Life | LoZBoTW》The Ocean

When they awoke the next morning, they realized Zelda was no where to be found. By the time they found her, guards had been searching everywhere. These were times when Link wished King Rhome was still alive, as he would put her in her place. Not without a little bit of Zelda's backtalk, though. Still, someone needed to put her in her place after acting out. There was no one left now to do so. She was the Queen after all, and no matter what Link and Emery had to listen to her every order. At least Link would, anyways.

"Queen Zelda! You had us all scared half to death. We hadn't the faintest idea where you'd been off too." One of the guards exclaimed. Emery and Link pushed past them all to get to her. She had an emotionless face. They found her out deep in the Hyrule Forest. Almost near the Korok Forest.

"That's right, I am the Queen. So, I'll be on my way to wherever I want when I want." She replied, crossing her arms. "You're all dismissed," Her eyes met Link and Emery's concerned ones. "And you two are also."

"Zelda, you can't just-" Link spoke up, but then realized how out of place he was. He believed in obedience. A part of him hardly speaking to others was a result of this. He needed to be silent about the way he feels, as he is nothing but a swordsmen. He has no place raising his voice and expressing his opinions to the Queen. Especially if she was going to act like the Queen.

Zelda walked past them, content with Link watching his tongue for once. She didn't want to see the two of them, as it was simply a reminder of her own failures. Just as Link has always resembled to her. But she let herself fall in love with him, and now look where it got her. She was hurt beyond words. Now there were two reminders of everything she's done wrong, and that means double the suffering.

On the other hand, Emery wasn't like Link. In fact, she was the complete opposite of him. Sometimes, she was everything he wanted to be and vice versa. It was another way them being one came into play. They were what the other wasn't, creating a whole. She was a burst of fury waiting to unleash and he was simply a silent jewel with so many unvoiced thoughts. "You have got to stop this, Zelda! Putting yourself in danger isn't helping anyone! How do you think we feel when you do this kind of stuff? We get scared! You're our friend, and when we think somethings happened to you it isn't a good time. I know you seem to not care anymore, but I know you do. So stop putting people through this."

Link was shocked at Emery's outburst. He'd never known if she actually had begun to like Zelda, but now it was evident. She cared strongly about her, and they had become good friends. Zelda swung around to face them, the tip of her ears red. "Is that anyway to talk to the Queen?"

Although Link was scared of Zelda in this moment, Emery was not. Given, Link was scared of Emery too. "The second you start acting like a Queen, I'll treat you like one."

Zelda gasped. "I ought to have you thrown in the dungeon after that!"

"But you won't because you know how unreasonable you're being right now." Emery retorted.

"Try me." Zelda gritted her teeth at the girl, in the moment not realizing how terrible she was being. Sometimes her power of wisdom failed her, and now was one of those times. She was being anything but a Queen. She was more like a thirteen year old fighting with her mom who truly only wants the best for her. Emery wasn't anything like her mom, though. Only a mere metaphor.

"Go ahead, Princess. I could care less." Emery replied. Zelda groaned loudly.

"If you two don't leave and do something for the day right now, then I'll have her sent away." Zelda pointed a strong finger in Emery's direction. She slitted her eyes at her, and opened her mouth to speak- but Link stopped her.

"We'll be going now." He said, barely audible. He pulled Emery in the other direction out of the forest. The sun was high and shining bright. It was a very warm and beautiful day. Emery was silent, obviously beyond angry. Link was afraid if he said something, she would let it all out onto him. He wasn't scared of monsters, but he sure was scared when the two most head-strong girls he knew were arguing before him. "Em-"

He stopped as she did, turning to face her. It was like the ocean came flooding out of her. She was crying profusely, with no signs of stopping soon. His eyes widened in panic. He pried her hands of her face, making her look at him. She sniffed as the tears fell quickly from her big emerald eyes.

"What's the matter?" He frowned.

"Isn't it obvious? Zelda hates me!" She cried some more, throwing her hands back over her eyes. She always felt she was an ugly crier, so she didn't want him to see. She couldn't believe she was so insecure around him, but her walls that she bared up for so long were slowly being let down. Though, now bigger things were on her mind.

"No she doesn't-"

"Link, you don't understand. It's my fault, every bit of pain she feels. It's because I let myself fall in love with you, taking you away from her. She's in love with you, don't you see it?" She frowned. Link was at a loss for words, which happened often. He didn't know what to say to that. He silently grabbed her hand, pulling her over to a large tree that sat before all of Hyrule. The castle and town well glowing brightly as the center of the picture. He sat down against the tree, one knee up to lean his arm on. He pulled Emery down, making her plop onto the other side of him. He wrapped his arm around her as he stared off. She leaned onto him reluctantly, and eventually the headache from her crying made her squeeze her eyes shut. She drifted off, her head slowly falling into his lap. Soft sighs came from her mouth as she slept. He figured that argument must've taken a lot out of her.

He rested his hand on her arm, holding it gently. The grass danced between the calloused fingers of her hand that laid next to his leg. A Silent Princess laid solemnly on the edge of the clifftop. Everything was flowing lightly with the breeze, and he just wished he could enjoy it. Sometimes, he went as far as to wish that he and Emery were normal. They weren't the chosen heroes, and they could live normally in Castle Town. He wasn't a guy for romance or anything like that, yet here he was. He'd never felt this way towards a girl, even if she was overly complicated than any of the shrines he'd ever encountered. Still, sometimes he daydreamed about owning a beautiful house with Emery, having a garden for her to grow her favorite flowers. She could decorate the house any way she liked, and they'd be out of sight of any danger. Then, one day they could have kids that they could pass everything down to.

Those were only dreams, though. A false reality he wished to escape to sometimes in his recreation. He knew he had to fulfill the duty that was long before his time, woven into his destiny- And Emery's too. It was an honor to be the chosen hero, and he would forever show his gratefulness and determination on the outside, indefinitely broadcasting it to the people. No one needed to know how he felt, and he couldn't dare tell anyone. How terrible would it be for him to say it was a burden to be the chosen hero? Zelda constantly went as far to say her powers are cursed, and to him that's a sign of ungratefulness to the Goddess Hylia. He knew without this power and his role, he would be nothing to the world. Without this, he wouldn't be able to satisfy his thirst to battle, save, and protect. He would be nothing without being chosen by the Master Sword, and he must never forget that. He must be forever thankful.

It was bizarre to him how Emery had fallen in love with him, and Zelda too. Not to mention Mipha, or the many strangers he encountered who swooned over him. He couldn't grasp what was so attractive about him. Maybe to the strangers, the fact that he was a hero was attractive. He could understand that, because that was a simple thing that came into to play with Emery. Still, Emery, Zelda, and Mipha were in love with him and they truly knew him. Mipha knew him before he was chosen. When he talked more often, when he wasn't as serious. He was fun, and even then his classmates were all over him. It may have made a bit of sense then, but why him? What about his friends? Before he was chosen, they were much better with a sword than he. Obviously it wasn't the sword, so what was it?

Zelda had fallen in love with him, and he did remember opening up to her a couple of times. She was the first person he told about baring his silent burdens, but it was an attempt in broadening her mind. That maybe she would follow suit, which she didn't. As she once said, she must've been the only one who had a mind of her own. She was right, Link would never disobey the King before when he would tell Link to seek Zelda. That was before she seemingly became fond of him. He was only trying to fulfill his duty, the only one he had was to protect her. What else was he meant to do? Why would he deny those simple orders that he loved to do? Battling was his cup of tea, the only thing he knew. Battling was where he found himself, his true purpose. Another bit of gratefulness came into play there; Many people don't have/find their purpose, and thanks to Goddess Hylia, he did.

When he thought about it, Emery and Zelda were much alike but very different at the same time. They were both infinitely headstrong, but Emery was for the right purposes. She stood up for the holy thing, the good thing. She stood up for herself and for Hyrule. In Link's opinion, Zelda was just a... brat. But either way, he was still willing to protect her with his life and so was Emery; They both cared about her to some extent. She keeps stating that she's Queen and abusing her powers, but she was only running away from her duty. Even though he didn't support the way her father treated her, almost all the time his harsh words were the full truth. She couldn't help her sealing power wasn't coming to her when she didn't care about the cause, but at times she did run away from her duty. Even then, her sealing power came to her when she was saving Link, and now it all made sense. She cared about that cause more than anything- he was the cause. She cared about him. Still, he'd never understand why.

When he looked at Emery, words could describe it. What he felt when he looked at her, it was like he'd dived into a hot spring and was being rejuvenated. She did that to him. Just a simple glance from her with a smile made him lose his mind. He'd never let anyone know that, though. That was a good thing about him disposing of anyway to show emotion. It saved him for a lot of nervous embarrassment. Or did it? Either way, she was something to him that couldn't be replaced. She was a keepsake, and he wanted to keep her forever. He would do everything in his power to do so. Her smile was what brightened his days. The endless things she went on about through the day made him eager to start each day. She was what made him go forward. Even if he wasn't so good with words, he knew how he felt about Emery, and even then- he'd no experience with this either. He'd never felt this way about anyone before.

Emery could confidently say she felt the same way. Though, with the Triforce inevitably making them one, she wondered if he would've loved her anyways without it. Was it only the power of the Trifroce, or did he really love? He felt the same way. The truth was, without possessing any of the powers they were foretold to be together, since the beginning of time. They were truly meant to be, and that was simply it. Link and Emery were one, forever and always. Triforce or not.

Zelda was aware of this, and she didn't know what she was suppose to do with herself. How was she meant to get rid of her love for him? All this time, Emery felt this way but she got lucky. Link actually returned the feelings. Now, how was she meant to get through this when everyday she saw them together? Every second you can feel the love radiating from them. The power of the one was evident. She was constantly reminded of her failures. How she couldn't be good enough for Link. It couldn't possibly be her fault, right? Things were meant to happen this way obviously, so what good was supposed to come from it? She felt the same way with the rise of Calamity Ganon, and the fall of the Champions. She wondered how Goddess Hylia could possibly let something like this happen, and how anything was going to result in good. It was obvious now that they got Emery from that, the one crucial in saving Hyrule in the first place. Even if Zelda stopped seeing how important she is for a second. How important both of them are.
