Zelda's coronation to become Queen of Hyrule was in a mere couple of days. Impa was going to be performing the ceremony. Emery thought she never even left her seat, let along Kakariko Village. Either way, the people rebuilding the castle found Zelda's old dress just in time. It still fit her like a glove when she put it on. Emery longed to look like her.
"Well," Zelda sighed. "I suppose it's time."
"Are you excited?" Emery asked, hoping for a yes. It was obvious something had been bothering her about this ceremony but she hadn't said what.
"I guess." She shrugged simply, and stepped out of the castle. They followed her as she gracefully walked through the main path of Castle Town. The place was deserted, as everyone was waiting around the Sacred Grounds. They stepped out of the large doors and down the steps. Impa flashed them all a small smile. Zelda stood in front of everyone, and Link and Emery stood aside like always.
"Today we gather here today to welcome a new Queen in our kingdom." Impa's frail but audible voice spoke. Everyone got silent, their murmurs no more. "Princess Zelda, daughter of Queen and King Rhoam. She holds the special powers of the Goddess of Wisdom. She is the last standing royal family descendant."
Something caught Emery's eye. She prayed it wasn't what she thought it was. As she continued to stare at the girl, she could tell she was a part of the Yiga Clan. She was looking around suspiciously, and the sign was blatantly printed on her jacket. Even if she didn't think it was obvious, it was. Emery looked past her to see yet another. There were others, and now it was evident they were planning to ambush the people and the ceremony.
She leaned into Link, and he placed his arm gently around her lower back. This wasn't the time for that, but she knew he had no idea. Still, she thought he was more observant and would've noticed by now. "Link, there are Yiga people here."
"What do you mean? I don't see any?" He replied, confusion lacing his voice as his eyes searched around.
"Don't look panicked like that. They're blending in with the people, but you can see the print on their little coats. They're sending signals to each other. It isn't safe for the princess." She nodded to Zelda. Link chewed his lip; what were they meant to do? They couldn't interrupt the ceremony, then they would protest and call them rude. That would give the Yiga time to ambush them. With all the people here, it was evident they were blending in waiting for the right time to strike. Emery and Link stayed at high alert. Their eyes could only look in one place, but they managed to keep an eye on both Zelda and the people. It was up to them to not let anyone get hurt.
"Here is the crown, worn by the great late Queen. It's been passed down for centuries and centuries, and now it belongs to Zelda." Impa said, pulling the beautiful crown out to show. The two heroes' hearts beat out of their chest. At any moment, things could go terribly wrong. "I crown Princess Zelda as our new Queen of Hyrule." They watched carefully as Zelda knelt down before Impa. She placed the crown on top of Zelda's head, and it seemingly fit perfectly. She stood up and faced the crowd once more. They all clapped and cheered. Emery kept an eye on the members. They weren't clapping, which wasn't unexpected. Zelda nodded and smiled brightly at them all. Impa finished: "May the Goddess smile upon you."

Link and Emery joined at the sides of Zelda, attempting to protect her in case anything happened. Link pulled his sword out that shined decadently, displaying it as he leaned on it. An invitation for anyone who wanted to meet their demise today. "I have a few words I'd like to say," Zelda began, and everyone got quiet once more. "First and foremost, I feel honored to be your Queen. I will do my best to do what's right for Hyrule and the people of it. I promise to do nothing else but fulfill my duty for you, the people."
Everyone cheered loudly; Emery's and Link's eyes still watched the crowd closely.
"Lastly, I want it noted here that if anything is meant to happen to me, and I have no one to heir the throne, I want it to be Emery and Link." She declared. They both turned towards her, blinking their eyes quickly as they were stunned. Them? Why would she trust them with her kingdom?
As they weren't paying attention, a couple of Yiga Clan members started to make their move. They used their magic to turn themselves into the full fledged member. People began yelling, and that was when the members of the royal guard pulled out their swords and bows. Zelda's face fell as everything began to fall apart. Emery and Link got their weapons ready as the Yiga approached the Queen, appearing all around them. Emery sent a shot flying at all of them. Link did many precise slices and stabs. Still, they kept coming. Even after they killed the rest. Maybe after this, there would be none left.
It seemed there were no more when they were in the clear. Everyone was in a panic, and the Royal guard had done their best to protect them. It seemed there were no fatalities. Still, they wouldn't know if it was unsafe. They all rushed into Castle Town and shut the big doors. As soon as they did, Zelda collapsed into a sobbing mess. Emery leant down next to her, straightening her up. She covered her face as she cried, a lot like Emery. "What's the matter?"
"I can't do anything right!" She sobbed, the sound of her heart breaking filled their ears. "As soon as I'm named Queen, all the townspeople are attacked! On my watch this happens! I could do nothing to protect them, it was you all and the royal guard. Why can't I do anything? And at that- anything correct? I'm not even good enough for Link..."
Emery was shocked at that statement. Was she hurt by that fact that they had found their love for each other? Emery knew she was in love with Link, but she insisted it was in the past... was this her fault? "I'm so sorry, Zelda."
"It's nothing you could've done, it's all me." She quickly wiped her face and stood as Emery helped her to her feet.
"You haven't done a thing wrong, Zelda. Remember, you have to let yourself be great." Emery said, recognizing the cold look in her eyes as she stared into them.
"There's no room for failure when you're Queen." Her voice was low. "Everyone needs to return to their houses, it's getting late and late calls for danger."
Link and Emery reluctantly followed her into the almost completely renovated castle. Zelda's room was rebuilt and the room for Emery and Link to stay in was finished also. Now they just had to finish the very tip top, where the throne room was and where Calamity Ganon had falsely sat for so long. It was going to be challenging, but they could manage.

Zelda slammed the door after her as she entered her room. Emery followed Link into their room across the hall. She wondered if this was a permanent arrangement, them staying here. As soon as she shut the door after her, Link turned to her. "What did she mean she's not good enough for me?"
Emery let out a small sigh. "She was in love with you. At least before Ganon, that's what she said."
"She never told me that." He mumbled.
"I just can't help but feel like us finding love has made her feel terrible about herself. Like it's all my fault." She took a seat on the bed, staring down at her hands. Link sat down next to her.
"You can't sacrifice your happiness for someone else and she shouldn't want you to." He replied. She nodded.
"You're right, you always are." She smiled sadly at him.
"Do you remember when we first met?" He recalled. She nodded in reply. "You were polite, I think that's the most polite I've ever seen you."
They both laughed. "I'm a polite person, I guess you just upset me more than others."
"Is that so?" He grinned playfully at her.
"You did at first. Do you remember how I reacted when I found out you were the chosen hero? At the Zora Domain?" She laughed.
"You were so... cold towards me. You were always so icy. Everything about you was closed away. I wanted you to open up to me more than anything, but I couldn't get you to melt into my hands and trust me." He noted. She nodded again.
"I was always told I would get hurt if I wasn't like ice." She shrugged.
"You know I'll never hurt you, right?" He spoke in all seriousness. She gave him a look. "At least I won't try to, anyways."
She smiled with the corner of her mouth. "People say hurtful words all the time. It's the actions that speak louder than words."
"Well, let these actions speak louder than words..." He mumbled as his lips met hers. His hand was placed gently on her cheek as he caressed it. His free hand found it's way around her waist as he pulled her closer to him. She grabbed the collar of his tunic, lightly pulling on it. Every time she kissed him, she still couldn't believe it was happening. How could he actually have feelings for her? It made her feel insecure at times, because what if he stops liking her? He gets to know her more and decides he doesn't like her because she brushes her teeth in the shower or chews her lips to the point of blood when she's nervous? The thing she didn't know was all her little unique things were what set her apart from everyone else. What made him love her.
They pulled away, catching their breaths because they took each other's away. She turned away from him, her face turning red as she grinned at the floor. Butterflies filled her stomach, and she couldn't believe she was being such a girl.
"Don't waste that gorgeous smile, I want to see it." He directed her attention at him. "I meant it when I said I wouldn't hurt you."
"I know." She nodded.
"But?" He knew her too well.
"But you might find out later on that you don't really like me that much." She said, and she wondered what could possibly be amusing when his lips curved into a smile.
"Why would you say that? I couldn't do without you, I know that for a fact."
"What if you don't?" She said quickly.
"Emery!" He exclaimed with an amused smile. She stared at him with a sad face. "Come on, you can't talk like that. Why do you doubt I actually like you?"
"Because no one else ever has." She replied quietly. He frowned at her.
"It doesn't matter, you don't need anyone else. You have Zelda and I." He took her hand and squeezed it in his.
"I hope..." she mumbled.
"I'm sure she'll be fine tomorrow, she's just upset with herself. She use to get that way all the time." He recalled. Emery nodded. He watched as she stood up, walking over to her bag. She started to peel her uniform off. Button by button. He watched closely. Off came the top piece of her shirt, then the blouse itself, revealing her perfectly structured chest that he wished he could see. Next came her boots and pants, revealing her perfectly structured behind that he could clearly see as she bent down and dug through her bag. She stood up and turned quickly, seeing him staring at her.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" She asked in a panicked voice, using the only means she had to cover herself- her hands.
"Because you're-"
"I don't want to hear about it, just don't let me catch you staring anymore." She chewed her lip nervously.
"Emery, I was staring because you're stunning. Not because there's something wrong with you." He stopped her.
"I can't find my top." She replied.
"Wear one of mine." He shrugged, going over and digging a clean one out of his bag. It smelt like her, seeing as she was the one who washed it. Larger on her since it was his, it was a plain white shirt. She pulled it on, and opted to wear just it to sleep in. She climbed into an extremely comfortable, silk sheeted bed. Link followed suit after also changing. He snaked his arm around her, pulling her close to him. She placed her leg around his waist, resting her head on his arm and his chest. That was how she liked to sleep, he discovered. He simply liked to sleep with her next to him and that was all that mattered. He blew the light out and darkness filled the room more than it had before.
"Link!" She giggled as his hand found her butt.
"Sorry," He replied cheekily, but his hand still rested there. He obviously wasn't sorry.

A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes
