Emery awoke the next morning to the sound of Zelda's voice. She sat up, looking around. Link was... Link was gone?! She jumped out of bed, then paid attention to the voice speaking to her. "Emery, you must hurry! Link has gone to the castle by himself. He doesn't stand a chance without you. You have to go fast, or he will meet his demise. You two are one, this fight will not be victorious without you!"

Emery quickly put her armor on, and pulled her hair back into a tight ponytail. How could he do something so stupid? What was wrong with him? Not to mention how he betrayed her. He knew how much this fight meant to her, and now he's there alone? What time even was it? She had no time for that now. She grabbed all the stuff she needed, her strongest bows and swords. She headed out when she realized she needed a horse to get their quick enough. Plus, to get to the castle, she needed ancient arrows. She was scared for what was to come. She rushed to the Ancient Tech Lab, and in a hurried frenzy she bought all the ancient arrows she could. She knew twenty wasn't possibly enough, but it was all she could get. Then she hurried to the stable and got a horse. Letting them know it was an absolute emergency, they gave her one without a fuss. She rushed the horse off into the direction of Hyrule Castle.

Link had gotten up early that morning, a couple of hours before Emery awoke. He carefully removed himself from her arms, and even though he felt guilty he knew this was for the best. She would stay safe this way, nothing could possibly happen to her. He never wanted anything to happen to her, so this was what he had to do. Even if he died in the process of saving Hyrule, at least he would've protected her. He grabbed his stuff quietly, preparing for what looked like his last battle. He was ready to die if it meant he saved Hyrule, Zelda, and most of all- Emery. He quietly exited the house, then hopped onto Epona. Off he rushed towards Hyrule Castle.

When he arrived, he left Epona somewhere safe. Even if it was the middle of a field, it was the safest place for her to be as long as she didn't wander too much. That was something she never did, she was a loyal and amazing horse. He pet her one last time before heading into Castle Town Ruins. There were evil guardians littering the place from head to toe. Stationary ones, walking ones, flying ones. He could perfectly parry one of their beams all he wanted, but without someone else here to watch his back he didn't know how successful he'd be. He didn't have any ancient arrows, although he'd found some. Still, he had a no good aim. He kept reminding himself he was protecting Emery by doing it this way. He continued on strongly.

He made it through the steeps of the castle to find many, many enemies. Like a large Stalnox who heavily guarded a chest. It would've been much easier to defeat if Emery were here. He opened the chest to reveal the Hylian Shield. It was his a long time ago. He placed it on his arm gladly and traveled up and through the castle. Being stopped by one of the Lynels, he discovered they were a one shot kill with ancient arrows. He was happy about this, and then continued on. He made it to the side of the castle, where he recalled the time Zelda got into a fight with her father about what she needed to be doing. Sometimes he wished she would just be quiet like him, but he knew she wouldn't ever be. She spoke her mind, just like Emery. Even at the worst of times.

Even with no time to waste, he found himself wondering into Zelda's study. He found her book, and read her notes. It was all before the rise of Calamity Ganon, of course. It talked about her studies with the ancient Sheikah technology. It was nothing interesting. Then he made it to Zelda's room, where he found an incredibly powerful bow and took it along with him. It had to help him in his adventure, he was sure he would need a decent one to succeed. He was no good with aim, but every enemy required good aim. That was his dilemma.

He stumbled across Zelda's diary, which he couldn't help but read. In the beginning it was evident she didn't like him, but throughout she got fonder of him. He was glad she thought so much of him when no one seemed to believe in him at first. She did, and she had for over a hundred years. There was no way he wouldn't be successful in this fight. He ventured on confidently now, finding his way through the castle and finding very interesting things along the way. Eventually, he made it to the very top.

Emery tried to hurry as fast as she could, but she was still so far away from the castle. There was no way she'd get there in time, and it wasn't like she could fast travel like Link. She was so angry at him, and most of her worry converted into anger. She kept wondering how he could do something like this. He said she was careless, but it takes one to know one. She was brought out of her thoughts when her horse abruptly stopped, freaking out. The Earth was shaking at all corners as the Divine Beasts all shot off a large, powerful beam. It went straight into the peak of Hyrule Castle and down it. She soothed her horse quickly. Was she too late? She was missing everything she worked for, and now she was even angrier. Especially since she was even more worried. She rushed her horse once more to the castle.

Link found himself face to face with Calamity Ganon now. Zelda could no longer hold him back like she'd been doing for a hundred years, and it was time for him to face it. Right off the bat, he tried to strike him which would surely knock him dead on the first hit, but he easily and perfectly dodged his hit. That allowed for him to perform a flurry rush. He continued to do this and parrying beams of light too. The Divine Beasts had knocked him down to half health which was more help than he could ever wish for. Except Emery's help, but he wouldn't be getting that. Still, he knew he was doing the right thing. He had to be, right?

He thought that until Calamity Ganon entered his next phase, where he crawled along the walls. Link surely need to make some shots at him now, to get him down on the ground so he can hit him. He hurriedly pulled out his bow, equipping ancient arrows. He kept moving as Link was shooting, he couldn't get a good aim on him. He opted to leave that out and parry his beams. Doing that got him off the wall and on the ground so Link could use the Master Sword against him. He continued to do that, his health getting extremely low.

Emery rushed as fast as she could to Hyrule Castle. She got to the plains just before it, where she saw Epona residing amongst the place. She was an untimely brave horse to stay out here alone, not wandering off. The bond between Link and Epona was like no other. She was a legendary horse, too. She made it through the legends. Even Emery won't make it through the legends. At least she thought she wouldn't.

"Stop, Emery." She heard Zelda's voice. She stopped dead in her tracks, looking around the voice. She saw nothing. "Link has almost defeated Calamity Ganon, but there is more to his wrath. Trust me when I say you must wait here. It won't do any good going into the castle."

Emery had no idea what that meant, but she wanted to finish this once and for all. Before she knew it, it started to get colder outside. The sky began to darken, and an apparition appeared further away from her in the field. She squinted her eyes, and saw Link appear. Her eyes widened, and she ran quickly, embracing him into a tight hug. She threw her arms around his neck, squeezing him tightly. She was so thankful to see him.

He had gotten the last hit on Calamity Ganon, but he knew there was more to come. He was teleported out of the castle where he was surprised to be attacked with a hug from Emery. Her head was buried in his chest as she held onto him for dear life. He finally placed his arms around her waist, holding her tightly too. They were distracted in their own little world now. He was startled as her gentle and loving gesture soon turned to anger. She jerked away from him, but her expression softened once she got a good look at him. "Link, you're hurt-"

"It's okay." He replied. Her angry face soon returned, and he prepared for the worst.

"How could you do something so stupid! You would've been okay if you hadn't just left me behind. Why did you do that?" She yelled at him. All her anger was finally flowing out.

"To protect you." He replied simply.

"And you call me careless." She scoffed. "How is leaving me behind protecting me? I'm meant to be protecting you, too. What does that mean for you? It doesn't answer my question as to why you'd do something so incredulously stupid!"

"Because I love you." He spoke gently, and she stared at him. Had she heard him correctly? She blinked at him a couple of times, and then they noticed the Earth start to shake again. Link grabbed her protectively by the waist, pulling her behind him. It angered her how he thought he always needed to protect her. She could protect herself, but they did need to work together. He wasn't going about it the right way.

Before them appeared something so large and so evil you could feel it. The wind began to pick up as the evil Dark Beast Ganon appeared before them. The skies were dark and scary. "Ganon," They heard Zelda's soothing voice. "Ganon was born of a dark past. He is a pure embodiment of the ancient evil that is reborn time and time again... He has given up on reincarnation and assumed his pure enraged form. If set free upon our world, the destruction will be unlike anything we've seen before. Emery, I entrust you with the Bow of Light- a powerful weapon in the face of evil. Link, you must get her close to the Dark Beast on Epona and protect her at all costs as she fires the shots. Both of you may not be at your full power or memories yet, but courage need not be remembered- for it is never forgotten."

Her voice stopped and Link climbed onto Epona quickly. He grabbed Emery, pulling her up after she collected the Bow of Light. She prepared it with arrows, in which it turned any into arrows of light. It was the most incredible thing she'd ever seen. Was this task specifically for her? Was she meant for all of this? Is this why she had a half of the Triforce of Courage? Either way, she knew she mustn't focus on that now. She had bigger things at hand. Even when she was looking into the eyes of pure evil, she wasn't scared. She was ready to do whatever she must to defeat it. She had to protect these lands at all costs.

They began to hear Zelda's voice again as they escaped his rays of death. "The energy surrounding Ganon's body is Malice. None of your attacks will get through as they are now. I will hold the Malice back using my powers as much as I can, but my power is waning. Shoot at any glowing points you see, Emery! May you both be victorious!"

Emery looked around for any of the glowing points that she spoke of, but she saw nothing that would indicate she should shoot. They were silent for a minute, riding around to avoid his attacks. Then, once he was shooting his beams, there were glowing points. Access points to his true form. Emery aimed, closing one eye to see best. She shot the three points precisely in the middle. That instantly knocked his health down significantly.

"Incredible! His power is weakening!" Zelda spoke with happiness. Emery was too deep in focus to even care about anything else. She trusted Link with her life, so much as she knew he wouldn't let her down when protecting her and Epona from his attacks. On the other side, as he shot out his beams again, three more glowing points appeared. Emery shot them all incredulously again. "It's working!" They looked around, and one more area appeared on his stomach. Emery shot it perfectly once more. "We're so close!"

The skies appeared red, and the Dark Beast was at extremely low health. Emery could feel they were on the verge of sealing him away forever. She was so ready for it to be over, ready to end it all. They rode around on Epona some more, examining their surroundings. He was stammering around, and it was obvious he was close to collapsing. "Link, Emery!" Zelda called. "Look up there!" They saw a glowing bit showing from a crack on his head. "That's the very core of Ganon's being! Do what you must, Link!"

They dodged him as he shot out his beams once again. Link gave her one look before hoping off Epona and using his paraglider to glide upwards using the updraft from Ganon's fire. He glided up, then let go, stabbing him right in the head with the Master Sword. He jumped down, running away as quickly as he could. The Dark Beast let out extremely loud and overpowering screeches as it was beginning to collapse. Link grabbed Emery, pulling her away along with him. They watched as a glowing beam of light popped out of the Dark Beast. There appeared the stunning Zelda. They watched intently to see what was going to happen next.

She appeared directly in front of the face of evil, glowing brightly with the light powers that surely sealed away the darkness forever. Or at least for another ten thousand years. They watched as Ganon turned into the form seen flowing around the castle. Zelda, using the powers bestowed upon her by the Goddess Hylia, lifted her hand as the Triforce glowed from it. Emery intertwined her fingers with Link's, their piece of the Triforce glowing eminently, too. A large, glowing ball resigned from her hand and engulfed the Malice inside of it. She felt him squeeze her hand tightly, which she did also. Ganon tried desperately to escape, but to no prevail. The light caught him, sending him away for a very long time. Just like that, he was eliminated.

They watched around them as the skies quickly returned to their normal glow. The only difference was it was warmer now. There was no eerie feeling, no sense of fright. It was the warmth only a peaceful Hyrule could bestow. It was warm, and Emery could bask in it all day. Their attention was soon redirected.

"I've been watching over you both all this time." Zelda spoke, her voice automatically having a sense of wisdom to it. "I've witnessed your struggles to return to us as well as your trials in battle. I always thought- no, I always believed- that you two would find a way to defeat Ganon. I never lost faith in you all these years. Thank you, Link and Emery. The heroes of Hyrule." She grinned brightly at them as they approached her. "May I ask, Link, do you really remember me?"
