《Devil May Love | Niklaus Mikaelson》Chapter Twenty: Mother Dearest
Advertisement
The day Evangeline Salvatore witnessed Niklaus Mikaelson bested by his siblings was both intriguing and terrifying. He was, after all, her mate and the mate bond had never been so strong until that moment. The powerful Hybrid was not being hit physically, no; every jab at him was verbal and ten times as painful. Klaus was being pummeled and barely even had a scratch.
"We're leaving you, Nik, right after I kill that doppelganger witch" Rebekah said cold heartedly and Evangeline felt a squeeze on her heart as the despair rang through her mate, "And you will be alone, always and forever"
Klaus went back to what he knew had always gotten his way, dastardly threats, shouting, and anger but it failed. His siblings threw it back at him, saying he would become their father. The lowest blow of all in Evangeline's opinion because she, like many others, knew of their father's hatred for Niklaus.
They began speaking once more about a coffin, the one thing Elijah had not filled Evangeline in on (aside from his siding with her brothers in order to corner Klaus). The female hybrid knew that the thought of his siblings having the coffin scared her mate, the deep fear made her shiver.
What the hell could it possibly be? Evangeline thought to herself, and then it all clicked together.
Before Mikael was in the picture, there was only one thing that could make even Klaus go running to the hills and that was his supposed father. If they had been running from him for so long but he was now killed, it would only make sense for the only other person for him to be afraid of...was his mother.
As soon as Evangeline had figured it out, the door opened, stealing the attention of every supernatural being in the room and in came, none other than their mother, the Original witch.
She was beautiful, but her power radiated off of her in waves from the way her children were one line away from cowering in fear from her presence. Obviously, they had no idea she had been awakened or resurrected or...whatever the hell happened. Evangeline wondered if her brother's knew that mama Original was in the coffin.
Klaus's siblings parted like the Red Sea, allowing for the Original Witch to advance towards Klaus. Evangeline felt a crippling fear wash over her, it felt like her life was about to flash before her eyes. She was afraid that she might have been about to witness the end of her mate.
Klaus was at a loss for words as the woman who gave birth to him stood before him, "Look at me!"
Upon her demand, the blonde man immediately looked up and met her eyes, "Do you know...why I'm here?"
"You're here to kill me" The blonde hybrid whispered, with acceptance of his eventual doom written all over his face.
But then, the opposite happened, "Niklaus, you are my son and I am here to forgive you"
Klaus and Evangeline's jaws dropped in almost identical fashions as The Original witch turned away from her son and towards her other children, "I want us to be a family again..."
The Original witch paused and turned spotting Evangeline immediately. She saw that the second hybrid in the room was completely out of place, and smiled.
"All of us"
There was a pause and two waves of shock ran over Evangeline: her own and Klaus's. The female hybrid was—for a lack of better words—scared shitless at what the Original witch was implying. She couldn't possibly be referring to Evangeline as family could she?

Once again, the attention in the room was on the odd woman out, the Salvatore children were gazing between the young hybrid and the powerful woman in shock, curiosity, and confusion.
Evangeline finally spoke up, standing from her seat near the corner of the room, "I don't understand...I'm not...I'm not one of you all"
"Is she in my dress?" Rebekah hissed but Kol shoved her in the abdomen and gave her a pointed look, although the whole ordeal had been ignored by their mother.
The Original Witch smiled once again, "Why of course you are Miss Evangeline Salvatore, you are my son's soul mate, therefore, you are family"
"Please tell me she's talking about me!" Kol muttered in the background, only for Rebekah to get her payback and elbow him harder in the abdomen, causing him to make an 'oomf' sound.
Evangeline and Klaus exchanged a glance before the Salvatore woman turned her gaze back to the Original Witch, "I...don't know what to say"
"That's because there is nothing else to be said" The Witch dismissed in a seemingly pleasant manner, "But I am quite aware that you and my son have not finished the ritual, why?"
Evangeline was heating up with anxiety as she looked back at Klaus, solely for comfort from his familiar presence, "Because...well everything is happening so quickly, we only figured it out weeks ago and—"
"My son has been putting his needs first" The Mother Original finished, although Evangeline knew she wouldn't have thrown Niklaus under the bus if she wasn't cut off.
Not that it was untrue, Klaus definitely was in denial of the end of the ritual but everything had been coming at them fast, Evangeline could barely keep up with it.
"Very well, that will all change now that I'm here" The Witch finished before turning towards her children, "I believe it is time we all settle in, there is much to do"
"Of course, Mother" Finn replied quickly, obviously a Mama's boy as he listened to her every word.
Evangeline felt the return of her resolve once the Original Witch and Finn left the room, leaving her with Rebekah, Klaus, Elijah, and Kol. The five of them looked completely disoriented for various reasons, and there was a complete silence...until Kol broke it throwing his arms up.
"What the hell was that?! And who the hell are you?" He immediately advanced towards Evangeline, and glares were imprinted on Klaus and Elijah's faces at the movement, "Did she just say you're a Salvatore, when the hell did those two idiots get a sister?"
Evangeline frowned at his rudeness and took a step back before looking to the Originals she was actually familiar with and then back to Kol.
"I don't know what you expect me to say" Evangeline said indifferently, "I'm just as confused as you are for the most part"
Kol grinned, "This mating business...isn't that for wolves? I'm guessing you belong to Niklaus then, that beastly bastard, of course he gets the gorgeous girl, though I am more attractive if you'd like to—"
"Enough!" Klaus and Elijah announced before they glanced at each other and Klaus sped over to his mate, pushing his older brother away from her.
"That is the last time you will ever be that close to her" The blonde growled, gently pushing the hybrid woman behind his back.
Kol just merely cocked an eyebrow, "Territorial little Niklaus, looks like you broke that dumb curse you were obsessed with...and now you have a plaything you get to have forever...cute"

Completely done with the male's rude words, Evangeline pushed Klaus aside, feeling herself heating up as her face morphed into her hybrid expression, "I'm not just some plaything you egotistical asshole"
Upon seeing her glowing fiery eyes, pointed ears, and elongated canines, Kol was shocked for a few moments before he full on smiled.
"Well aren't you just a special little freak?"
The brunette growled at his rude comment, feeling a similar smoke rising in her throat. Klaus' eyes went wide at the sight of the black smoke being released from his mate's nostrils; he knew he needed to calm her down before she attempted to turn his brother into a pile of ash.
"Evangeline, love, calm down" Klaus murmured in her ear, pulling the Salvatore woman away from his brother by the waist.
Kol chuckled at the display, "Yes, love, calm down"
"Oh shut up, Kol!" Rebekah butted in, tired of her brother's asshole actions, "Before the girl lights you up like a Christmas tree"
"I'd like to see her try!" the arrogant Original announced, causing Evangeline to glare at him, completely ready to give it a go until Klaus sped her away from the situation and back to his bedroom before she could do any damage.
Evangeline sighed, allowing herself to finally become serene before she lit the bedroom on fire and shook her head. She had no idea why she had gotten so angry with Kol, he wasn't the first asshole she had ever had to deal with, but then again, she was dealing with a lot of stress, his rudeness made her want to explode.
"Kol isn't an enemy you want to make, love" Klaus advised as he watched the young woman sit down on the bed looking at her hands.
"I'm not an enemy he wants to make either" Evangeline replied back sassily, as she freed her hair from the bun it was in, letting it become the mane she'd grown to love.
Klaus smirked at her feistiness, "I'm sure, love, but he does not know that and I know my brother. If he sees you as a threat, he will only try to break you"
"He sounds like Damon" Evangeline said with a sigh. It was quite obvious she was beginning to miss her brothers.
Klaus sighed at her sudden change in demeanor; he could feel the sadness rolling off of her in waves. As much as he wished he could return her to her brothers, there were bigger things for them to deal with, such as the return of his mother. Klaus wanted to know her true motives in terms of claiming his mate as a part of the family.
"I thought about what you said...about my brothers" Evangeline said, breaking the tense silence as they both removed their shoes.
Guilt washed over the Original Hybrid, "Evangeline, love, I didn't—"
"Stop, I know how you are now, Nik. You like to destroy those who retaliate mentally, nothing new. I'm not hurt anymore and I don't doubt my brothers' love for me but I don't doubt their love for Elena. I know they'd do anything for her—including, keeping her away from being used in a ritual for their sister" Klaus stopped removing his jacket, and turned his gaze back to his mate.
"They wouldn't let you die" Klaus murmured, walking over to Evangeline as she stared blankly into his vanity.
The curly haired woman sighed, "I have a feeling that might change once they learn that you're my mate"
~*~*~*~*~
Nearly an hour later, Evangeline was in a boat. It was a Titanic sized vessel with a beautiful view of the ocean. She was standing on the deck where a long oval table was covered in a midnight blue colored cover. There were enough hors d'œuvres to feed two ships yet ironically, the entire table was completely deserted. The food seemed essentially untouched and abandoned. The curly haired woman was confused why she had appeared on the ship until she heard a familiar voice.
"You can't trust that Witch"
Evangeline turned to see her closest friend sitting on the far end of the table with a glass of red wine and a stern look on her face. The Salvatore middle child furrowed her dark eyebrows as she approached her great friend, taking a seat across from her.
"What do you mean, Ana?"
The White witch took a short sip of the beverage before setting it back down. Both women seemed unfazed as the glass refilled itself as if it had become untouched. There were bigger matters at hand.
"Esther Mikaelson is up to no good, I know it" Anastasia sneered as if the wine left a bad taste in her mouth.
The hybrid frowned, "How do you know?"
"Because I know she is no better than her husband. She wants her children dead, all of them. The only thing is, she has a power to blind them with love: something that beast of a man could not muster to save his life...literally"
The thought of another Mikaelson parent trying to harm her mate made Evangeline's inner dragon gurgle and growl within her. She never thought she could be so sick of people trying to kill the person she was growing an enormous amount of care for. Sure, Niklaus was no saint; he was the opposite of anything but that didn't give anyone the right to cease his existence for it, not even his own parents.
"But why would she want them all dead, Klaus is the one who killed her and she seemed to be extremely forgiving of him last I saw...sh-she even said that—"
"She considers you family, because you're his mate" Anastasia finished, rolling her hazel eyes, "Always one for flatter and quite the actor. Not to mention an ultimate backstabber"
"You say this like you know her...are you older than you've let on?" Evangeline questioned her good friend jokingly and she cracked a small smile but zipped it away with another hard expression.
"No, I have no reason to lie to you about my age, but that doesn't mean I don't know of her, I've encountered her enough times for me to know she's insane. She's been on the other side for a thousand years plotting, basically any witch older than two centuries could hear her yapping on about her kids like she didn't get them into the situation"
The caramel skinned woman tried hard not to crack a smile at her friend's annoyance with the Original Witch, and tore her gaze away from her to the water. The sun had long set and the moon adorned the sky, shining bright and nearly full, which worried the hybrid. Her ritual had to be done during a full moon and she had no doubt that Esther was going to try to get it over with as soon as possible. She wasn't quite sure why she was so eager to help her most disliked child finish the ritual that would make them soul mates, it didn't make that much sense to her. Surely, she wanted even the smallest bit of revenge. That alone kept her on edge as she glanced around the large luxury vessel and something caught her eye.
"This is an American ship" Evangeline muttered, looking at her best friend with wide emerald green eyes, "You're—"
"Ah, my smart best friend" Anastasia chuckled at her look of surprise, "Your thoughts are correct, I'm on my way to Mystic Falls"
~*~*~*~*~
The next day, Elijah went up to Niklaus's room to inform him of the ball their mother decided to throw in honor of their family reunion. Elijah, just like his younger brother, was unsure if he could trust their mother's intentions. It concerned him that she had been able to forgive Niklaus, even after he had been the reason for her doom.
The two mates were molded together as one as they slept. Evangeline had her head pressed against Niklaus's bare chest and the hybrid man had his arms wrapped around his mate keeping her as close to him as possible. It was a beautiful picture that was ruined with one knock on the door.
The blonde Hybrid responded first, snapping his eyes open and slipping out of his mates grasp inhumanely fast before opening the door to his bedroom.
"What is it, Elijah?" Klaus asked, obviously not a morning hybrid as glared at his formally dressed sibling.
His older brother raised in eyebrow at his bare chest as Evangeline woke up only to grumble under her breath as she released herself from the warmth of the comforter to greet her favorite Mikaelson.
"Morning Elijah" The brunette said appearing next to her mate. She had on a dark purple silk nightgown, given to her by none other than Klaus—who was just tired of her stealing his shirts and using them as such.
The older Mikaelson smiled fondly at the petite woman before looking back to his brother, "Mother is throwing a ball, here at the mansion"
"For what reason?" Klaus muttered, not liking the idea of all sorts of people running around the place.
"To announce our reunion, I assume" Elijah guessed before looking back to Evangeline, "Possibly to welcome a new member of the family"
Evangeline grimaced, "Is there any chance my brothers are on the 'do not invite' list? Because they're going to...flip their shit—for the lack of better words, I'm afraid"
Elijah looked his good friend apologetically, "I'm afraid not, Mother has invited Elena and you know—"
"At least one of my brothers will come trailing behind her" Evangeline groaned, pressing her fingers to her temples, "Great, fine, I need food"
With that, there was a large gust of air as the young woman quickly dressed herself then disappeared to the lower level of the mansion leaving two amused Mikaelsons.
Elijah turned back to his younger brother, "What are your intentions, brother?"
"I'm not sure what you mean, Elijah"
Elijah sighed, "One minute you are yelling threats in her face and the next you are sharing a bed with her? Do you not realize that this woman is your mate, not just some girl you can throw around?"
Klaus's face morphed into a glare, "I'm quite aware that Evangeline is my mate, Elijah, but she should understand that I will always have the upper hand"
"And that is your biggest issue, Niklaus. You will ruin everything because you will treat this like a big competition. Evangeline is not here to do anything but make you stronger...to make you understand that even you, a man who is known as the most ruthless supernatural being living, deserves love and can attain it. Once you let your guard down and understand that it is okay to feel and connect with another individual...you will find that you have someone that will never leave your side, even if we do" Elijah snapped, "Not all of us have that opportunity"
With that, Elijah walked away, leaving his brother dumbfounded.
Meanwhile, Evangeline arrived in the kitchen, praying that Klaus had made time to stock the place with actual food, preferably cereal, since she found herself craving the oh-so-famous Cinnamon Toast Crunch for some reason. She found herself in heaven when she opened the cupboard near the refrigerator and found a wide variety of cereal, including the sweet cereal she had been craving. Just as she went to reach for it, she heard a barely familiar voice behind her.
"Good morning Miss Salvatore"
The female hybrid turned to see who she presumed to be the oldest Mikaelson smiling at her, now dressed for current times.
"Good morning er—Finn, sorry, I'm terrible with names at first. I see you've cut your hair, it suits you nicely" The last thing she needed was bad blood with another one of Klaus's brothers. The thought of Kol still annoyed her greatly so hopefully she could have a bond with Finn more like the one she had with Elijah.
The oldest Mikaelson smiled at her attempt at flattery to cover up the fact that she had temporarily forgotten his name, "It is okay, Miss Salvatore, we just met yesterday. Though I do apologize for the vicious side of me you witnessed, my younger brother temporarily allowed me to lose sight of what matters most...family"
Evangeline saw something overwhelming flash through his eyes but she shook it off, "Of course, I can't say he hasn't gotten the best of my feelings as well...please, call me Evangeline."
"Well Miss Evangeline" He flashed a bright smile, "Our mother would like to speak with you, I assume about the ball later. I heard Elijah speak briefly about it with you and my brother"
Evangeline felt her stomach drop at the Original's words as her dreamy encounter with Anastasia came flushing back into her mind. All she could think about was her best friend's comparison between the Mikaelson parents as she gave a very fake, very dazzling smile to the Salvatore as she asked where she could find the Witch.
"She's in the behind the dining area. There is no need to knock because she is expecting you"

Homecoming | A Chronicles of Ascension Story
When Jethen was captured by slavers, his childhood was torn from him and left shattered half a world away. When he finds himself back home decades later, by methods he does not fully understand, he finds that the life he has lived has changed him far more than he knew. In a home he no longer knows. Places and people at the same time familiar and foreign, he must decide - stay and help with his parent's business, or return to the land that remade him and the family he made there. --------- Homecoming started as just a short story to break an episode of writers block. It has since morphed well beyond that into a novel in it's own right, and may well end up with a sequel. The writing of Homecoming became a bit of a self induced challenge to improve my initial, first brush, writing quality. Each chapter was written raw, given a once over read and edit, and then posted. In this way I am forcing myself to write better from the start. I do hope you enjoy the story and will leave a comment or review, and if you see an issue, feel free to let me know as well. I know it is not nearly perfect, and it will get a full and proper edit once I am done. Never hurts to fix things along the way though. As an additional note. The story has undergone a structural rework and has been reposted in an updated structure and sequence of chapters. If you have read this story already, I invite you to do so again in this new structure.

Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.

The Beauty Of The End
William was abandoned by his family and left with a mother who detests him. He is forced into a life of crime, stealing just to feed his mother and himself. But that changes when he's given an opportunity to turn over a new leaf in a world of magic, war and tragedy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Beauty Of The End takes place in a fantasy medieval world where magic exists in multiple forms. William is a boy abandoned by his family and left with a mother who detests him, and at a young age is forced into crime just to feed the both of them. But one day he is visited by a knight order who tell him he has potential for magic. Listening to their words, he leaves to start a new life and train to become a mage like them. The Beauty Of The End updates every day and I'm hoping to push out 100+ chapters consisting off, at the minimum, five arcs. Sometimes there might be double uploads to make up for a break I might've taken. I have most of the story planned out in my head and am just writing down where I think the story should go. I have planned up to arc 2 and maybe some ideas for 3, but that's about it. Thoughts and criticism are appreciated, there's obviously going to be grammar and maybe spelling mistakes that'll I'll try to spot and fix. I might occasionally post chapters that explain certain parts of the world, e.g. lore, countries, organizations, species, magic etc.
