Chapter Thirty Two

Harmony’s POV

I straighten a final strand of my jet black hair, twisting it around my finger before pulling it through the straightener again. I do a once over, checking to see if I forgot any uncurled hair. Nope, I’m good. I smile in the mirror, pulling back a good part of hair that normal sits in the front with a gold hair clip. I straighten out my floral dress, brushing my hands along the purple, pink, yellow and coral fabric. I lean back against the counter top and apply some light pink eye shadow, some brown eyeliner and mascara. For the finishing touch I sweep on some clear lip-gloss.

I nod to myself in the mirror, scanning myself up and down in the mirror to make sure everything looks right. I slip on my brand new pair of hot pink velvet pumps. I clomp out of the washroom and into Drew and mine’s bedroom, popping a tic tac into my mouth. Drew is standing beside the bed trying to tie his tie. It looks like he’s having some difficulty. I giggle and cross the room; gently pulling the fabric from Drew’s shaking hands.

Drew’s Finn’s best man and Drew’s panicking over some sort of best man speech he has to make tonight and tomorrow. He’s already written the speech, and I’ve already read it over. I don’t see why Drew’s panicking the speech was amazing and slightly funny, he claims it’s because he has a fear of speaking in front of a big crowd. He has nothing to worry about.

Drew smiles at me gratefully as I tie his tie like a pro. After the tie is tied, I push him down on the bed gently so he’s sitting. I take his shaking hands in mine and lean over to look in his eyes.

“Calm down D” I whisper with a giggle, “Nothing is going to happen! Your speech is amazing”

Drew shakes his head and sighs loudly, trailing his pinkie finger down the side of my palm. Comforting him or me, I don’t know but it’s so nice a soft groan escapes my lips. Drew smiles to himself and continues to trail his pinkie across the side of my hand at the same pace.

“What if they hate it? Then what Peaches?” Drew mutters, “They’re adults so I don’t think they’ll start throwing food at me but they might do something in that category”

I giggle out loud at the immaturity and total belief in Drew’s words, “D babe seriously, no one is going to throw anything at you. You’re the best man! They wouldn’t dare. If they hate it then it’s their problem”

Drew shrugs, “I guess. I might freeze up and stop talking completely you know”

I giggle and pull him up from the bed so my chest is touching his, “Then picture everyone in their underwear”

Drew chuckles and traces my lower lip with his thumb, “That would be no good” He whispers.

I gasp in surprise, “Why? That always works!”

Drew chuckles and shakes his head, “Not when your incredibly hot girlfriend is in the crowd. Picturing you in your underwear is not going to help in the least”

I laugh tipping my head back slapping Drew’s chest lightly, “Jeez Drew perverted much”

Drew chuckles and presses his lips to mine for a second before pulling away, “Only on you Mony”

I smile and pull him in for a proper kiss again, “Good to know. Instead of picturing the crowd in their underwear, just keep your eyes on me then?”

Drew brushes a strand of fallen hair behind my ear, “Always”

I giggle and take his hand, leading him out of the room, “If you’re good tonight I just might let you have a surprise”

Drew raises an eyebrow, “What kind of surprise?”

I stop and whisper in his ear, “The kind of surprise that includes your clothing on our bedroom floor”

I’ve been thinking about it a lot, and I know now that I’m ready. Drew has already seen my scars. The day we took the ‘nap’ I didn’t do anything to cover them up. That ‘nap’ came pretty close to something more. It’s been a few years since Blaine, and I know Drew would never hurt me.

Drew’s body tenses and he pulls me to a stop, he bends down to look into my eyes, “Harmony I’m willing to wait if you’re not ready”

I wrap my arms around Drew’s neck standing on my tip toes “Oh but Drew, I am ready. I wouldn’t have thought of the surprise if I wasn’t”

Drew sighs happily and presses his lips to mine, “If you’re sure, then that’s an offer that I will most definitely agree to”

I giggle and pull away, continuing on down the stairs, “That’s what I thought”

To himself Drew murmurs, “Now I most certainly can’t picture her in her underwear”

I start snickering quietly to myself, hoping that Drew doesn’t notice I heard. He does, my snickering gave it away.

I tow Drew down the hall and out into the cold chilly air, heading down to the beach where the rehearsal dinner is being held. Once on the beach, I pull Drew closer to my side sensing that Blaine will be here somewhere. I snuggle into Drew’s side and Drew noticing the reason for my actions, wraps his arm around my shoulder protectively.

Together we walk into the illuminated tent taking our seats at our assigned table. A slideshow of pictures plays across the power point projector, the sounds of Teenage Dream filling the tent. Drew takes my hand and rests our folded hands on the table smiling at me. We focus on the movie as more and more people show up. Drew stands from his chair pulling me up with him suddenly. I look at him confused.

“I want to introduce you to some of my old friends” Drew responds.

I nod following behind him as he leads me over to a group of guys, chatting and sipping Champaign.

Drew squeezes my hand and stops by the group, “Hey guys”

The group of guys look at Drew and their faces stretch with glowing smiles. Some of them aren’t that bad looking. Compared to Drew however, they loose by a long shot.

“Look what the cat dragged in” A guy with shaggy black hair and green eyes chuckles, stepping forward to pull Drew in for one of those man hugs.

“Drew Edwards, and here I thought you fell off the face of earth” The guy chuckles, sipping on his Champaign.

“Nope, just working” Drew replies with a shrug.

A guy with blonde hair steps to my side and gazes at me lustfully, “Hey there sweet thang”

I bite my lip to keep from laughing, “Hey there tool”

Drew pulls me to his side and looks at the guy menacingly, “Back off Russ”

The guy with brown hair that was talking to Drew a minute ago steps forward to look at me with wide eyes, “You’re the girl from the party the other night? The one Drew was all snugly with?”

I laugh nervously and shrug, “Yea that’s me”

The guy with brown hair smiles, “It’s nice to final get to talk to you this time. The name’s Trace and if I remember you’re Harmony?”

I nod, “Yup, that’s me”

“Where did you pick up this one?” Russ asks.

I look at Drew with wide us. He better not tell anyone about my past.

“I met her at work” Drew starts off, “She came in with her friend”

I relax, sighing. A smiling waitress walks by, balancing a tray of Champaign on the palm of her hand. I reach over and take two, handing one to Drew and keeping one for myself.

Julianne walks up on the stage and takes the microphone in her hand. Julianne looks pretty good. She’s wearing a black dress that ends a little past her knees and her hair is pulled up in a chignon at the top of her head.

“Hey everyone! Thanks for coming! I’m going to have to ask everyone to please take your seats so we can get this night going”

Drew says goodbye to his friends and takes my hand, leading me back over to our table. Like a gentleman, he pulls out my chair for me and pushes it back in when I’m seated. I smile at him, and tuck the napkin in my lap.

“What’s for dinner?” I ask cheerfully. Dinner is the best; it doesn’t get much better then that.

“Steak” Drew replies.

I smile, taking a sip of my drink to keep from jumping all over the place. Steak is one of the greatest creations in the world, not including mashed potatoes because their a close tie.

“Amazing” I laugh.

Drew smiles and leans towards me, “So I was thinking about going home….?”

My shoulders slump defeated, “Oh”

Drew chuckles and takes my hand, “Do you like it here Harmony?”

I smile widely, “I love it here. I finally get to have a real family”

Drew grins, “Good, because I just bought us a home”

I stare at him with wide eyes, “You bought us a home? Here? What about your job in the city?”

Drew chuckles and shakes his head, “I’m friends with the Chief here in town and he offered me a job. It isn’t as big of a job like I have back in the city but it’ll make good money. My job in the city doesn’t matter as much as my family does. And yes, here, in a location I think you’ll very much enjoy”

Stunned I throw myself into Drew’s arms, kissing him quickly, “No way? The house wasn’t expensive was it?”

Drew laughs and shakes his head pushing me gently back into my chair, “Not at all Mony”

“You better take me to see the lot soon” I tell him, just as the food starts coming around.

I pick up my fork and knives, ready to dig in.

If you don’t mind my asking, please check out my other story Dear Cole. I honestly think that it’ll turn out nicely.

And to those of you who are wondering when this story is coming to an end, sometime this summer. I’m hoping to have Drew and Mony’s story done before the summer starts so I can start uploading the second book in the Living With A series. You’ll know when it’s over, so stop asking. LOL, and I mean that in the nicest way possible.

Song on the side is Dance Desire by Haywire. Very catchy song.

Picture on the side is Harmony yet again.
