《Sirens in Seattle》{chapter 35}

I jumped slightly as Phoenix laid a hand on my shoulder.

Every since the whole robbery thing I've been slightly jumpy, but I've been working past it.

I rolled over on our bed to face him and sighed at the sight of his face.

His right eye was basically swollen shut , his cheek had a nasty cut and his lip was scabbed over. His job has been getting rough, too rough for my own likings to be honest. He's been getting higher in rankings and earning tons of respect but it's all at a cost. Now he's called in to deal with the tough criminals, he's the first man to enter notorious drug and gang houses, leading his fellow men.

"Does it feel any better?" I asked gently placing my hand on the cut located on his cheek.

"Already feeling back to normal today, I think I might go back today." He stated sitting up in our bed and cracking all of his back joints.

"Are you sure? I mean can you even see out of your eye?" I questioned, trying not to let my irritability show. His goal is honestly just to kill me. It feels as if his wounds are mine.

"Mia baby, I promise you on everything I am fine. I wouldn't risk anything if I knew I wasn't fully capable of going back." He reassured me brushing his soft lips against mine.

I nodded sighing and letting it go and letting his hands make their way through my tangled sleep hair as we engaged in a small make out session .

Afterwards ,I not so carefully rolled out of the bed to get myself ready for a day of homework and errands, still slightly upset by the look of my boyfriends beat up face.

As I was brushing my teeth , lost deep in thought my phone buzzed and I glanced at it too see a text from Minnie.

it read.

I honestly didn't think too much about it before quickly replying

My phone buzzed immediately back.

My stomach felt giddy, happy I was going out, I spend too much time to perfectionist I forget sometimes to enjoy life and friends. Although the few times I do seem to try and live life a little loosely trouble seems to follow. Basically me just being Bad Luck Mia.

I skipped back to my bed where Nix was barley sitting up and slipping on a simple , thin v neck.

"I'm going out tonight." I announced flopping on the bed in a sitting position.

"Oh?" Phoenix replied raising and eye brow."With who?" He questioned.

"Remember my friend Minnie? Her, well probably head up to that one club . I hear it's new and pretty poppin" I replied.

He looked hesitant to reply but after a few moments gave a small shrug. "You guys will have fun."

"What now?" I said, a bit harshly I might add. I hated when he did that stupid thing of not telling me what's in his mind, even though it was written clearly across his face.

"It's just.." he started looking anywhere but at me. "The last time you went out you got a little carried away...." he stated referring all the way back to the time we actually truly met and got to know each other.

I laughed lightly and moved on to my knees to message his shoulders that had light bruising from a fight that happened weeks ago.

"Don't worry about me baby." I said softly as his shoulders relaxed slightly.

I couldn't help but let my irritation over his overprotectiveness slide. I mean he's a cop for gods sake. His job is to literally save lives and protect people so I think that protective side of him will never truly leave him even when he's off duty.

He placed a hand over his shoulder and rested it on top of mine. "I know. Just be safe and you know to call me and I'll pick up first ring if anything happens. Like a fire, fights or if some one tries to hit on you..." he said the last part with his giant goofy grin.

"Maybe I'll let them take me out. Just in a date though, no kissing till at least the second " I teased.

"I swear Amelia you will get me fired one day for always being late." He replied turning his body and again, meeting his lips to mine.

"You're dads the chief we have plenty of time." I said making us both laugh and continue our love session.

------------

"Ouuu! You look so hot!" Minnie screeched out of her car window as I walked down the stairs doing a little twirl.

I wore an all black backless romper with a pair of black stilettos I may have or may not have hinted for weeks at Nix that I wanted them.

Minnie opted for a bright red tight dress that clung to her curves perfectly.

I quickly hopped in the car as she turned up our favorite song to blast as we get ready for a night out.

" continued through the car until we pulled up to the club, which I may add was really nice from the outside.

The colors were neon and it gave a fun tropical vibe.

The line stretched all the way around the building and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "Minnie we will literally never get in." I groaned to her.

She laughed and grabbed my arm going straight to the front. "I told you I know people who know people" she whispered to be before turning to the bouncer. "Minnie and Mia. We're in the list, too actually." She smiled sweetly earning us dirty looks for the others in line.

The bouncer looked at us then his list. "Alright, go in." He finally sighed as we immediately ran past him.

The bass of the music thumped harshly , demanding I feel it in my chest.

Minnie grabbed my hand and shoved our way to the center of the major dance floor, that consisted on bright flashing lights.

We laughed extremely hard as the music took over our bodies and we danced the night away, occasionally sneaking a drink here and there from the bartender, I mean if you got in the club, it's rare he would be re-checking ID.

The night went on and I snapped pictures of Minnie getting very friendly with a cute red head.

I clicked on my phone to see it was way past the hours of the night I planned to be out, but I couldn't dare to drag my friend away from the possible love of her life.

"Minnie! I'm going to get going, I'll call Nix to give me a ride! You keep having fun and call me as soon as you get home." I yelled at her over the music.

She let go of the man and gave me a giant, sloppy hug. "Loove you Mi! Call you soon."

I turned to the guy and quickly got his name, Andy, and his number just in case he tried anything funny because he offered to get her home safe. I wasn't an idiot to let my best friend go home with a complete stranger without any idea of who he was. I even tested the phone number to make sure it was really his.

When everything checked out ok, I made my way outside the club and the street a little ways, typing a message to Nix.

I quickly sent. My phone dinged back a few minutes later.

I read and smiled tucking my phone into my my purse.

I continued to wander a little ways more, swaying a little with the drinks that were now catching up to me.

The night was buzzing, many party goers like myself still wandered the streets, looking for their next adventure or maybe even a great love. All of the buildings were lit up brilliantly give everything a warm light.

"Excuse me miss, but I think I'm giving you a ride home." A voice called out, causing me to turn and see Nix sitting in his car with a big smile.

I laughed and went to run over to the car, but knowing me, my heel got stuck in a grate causing me to fall straight on my knees.

Nix jumped out immediately and instead of helping me up, he instead scooped me up, holding me close to his chest.

"Well now isn't this familiar?" I questioned easing an eyebrow, smiling despite my burning knee.

"Maybe she should go get some Dennnys" he replied back before we locked in a kiss.
