《Sirens in Seattle》{chapter 31}

"Girl lets go out sometime ! It's summer break miss you!" A text from Minnie read across my screen.

A bit back a smile and texted back, thanking about some wild times me and Minnie have had.

"Text me details" I replied

I set my phone down and turned on the sofa to face Phoenix who was also engaged in his phone. His jawline was sharp along with his nose making my eyes internally turn into hearts.

"Since we're starting brand new, I think you and my parents should try to build a relationship." I declared a bit randomly.

I wasn't going to lie, we were still rocky and my heart ached slightly. But we decided to start over, clean , everything from scratch and forgotten.

He raised a dark eyebrow at me and I returned it. "I'm going to call my mom tonight, and set up a dinner date with us and my parents ok?"

"Alright." He nodded , setting his phone in his lap, making my breathe in relief.

His effort was what made me stay.

"Alright babe, I'm off to work." He kissed me slightly on the cheek after a while and just making small talk and planning a few events we needed to attend, not wanting to overstep the boundaries.

"Alright, I'll cook dinner tonight. How does a buffalo chicken salad sound?" I asked him re picking up my phone and scrolling through my Pinterest feed.

"A salad for dinner?" He asked confused making me shake my head.

"It's about time we both started eating healthy." I began but playfully sighed at the look of his face. "Fine fine, I'll make some type of manly meal." I joked at him.

"Please and thank you. Alright bye love." He said one final time before closing the door.

I eventually got off of the sofa and made my way back into our closet where I slipped on a black sports bra and some grey jogging shorts. I really needed to keep in shape over the summer break. All of this drama with Nix and what not, honestly made me forget about my healthy habits.

I tied in my Nikes before grabbing my phone and ear buds before heading out.

I made sure I locked up before doing a quick calf stretch and starting my way outside for a nice walk/jog.

The sun was still out and I enjoyed it on my skin, hoping it would leave a golden glow.

I walked to a park close to the center of the city and close to our home, before I started my jog.

I enjoyed watching all of the children play and run around near the playgrounds and dogs happily play fetch.

I continued my jog, finally slowing down after the sun began to slightly set in the distance.

I walked and smiled at other joggers as I made my way to near bench.

I sat down and looked at my messages to see I had one from Nix.

It read making me smile softly.

I typed back.

"What's a pretty girl like you, doing here all lonely?" A man, with a dark black beard approached me.

I gave a small smile "Just enjoying the day." I replied before turning back to my phone.

"Well, you enjoy your day." He said giving a tight smile and gave him a little wave. "You too"

As he walked away, a chill ran up and down my spine , giving me a bad feeling.

I shook it off and got up, RE warming up my muscles before taking a slow jog, this time all the way home.

I unlocked the door, and took the elevator up to our apartment as my heart rushed from the needed exercise.

I made sure I locked the door tightly before stripping off my sweaty work out clothes and taking out my tight ponytail.

I turned the shower on cool and relaxed in there , while the water cleaned and refreshed my skin. I washed my hair , lathering it with lots of shampoo and conditioner, which for sure is a thick hair/curly hair problem. I use twice my weight in hair products every day.

I got out and wrapped myself in a comfy robe and made my way back to the bedroom where I slipped on some comfy shorts and a simple t shirt.

I put on my flip flops as I made my way to the kitchen were I searched for some cooking ingredients.

I chose a box of macaroni and some chicken nuggets we had stored in the freezer. It was a simple fun meal, I couldn't go wrong with. Plus I so didn't want to make a trip to the grocery store.

I popped it into the oven and the macaroni on the stove before going back to the living room and finding a good news Chanel , since I would most likely be on my phone anyways.

I sat in comfort for a while, when I heard the door handle jiggle.

I hopped up, rolling my eyes. Nix probably forgot his keys.

"Hold on Nix! I'm coming. " I shouted as i quickly padded to the door, except something caught my attention.

Usually, Nix would yell jokingly back through the door but this time there was silence.

It was strange, so I looked through the peep hole and almost threw up with the sight I seen.

It was the man from the park. Along with a few others, one clearing holding a crow bar.

I stifled a scream by covering my mouth, even though they already knew I was home.

Quickly, I grabbed a chair from the table and slid it under the door handle before running back to our room.

I immediately locked the door and ran into our walk in closet, shutting that door too.

I dialed 911 with shaky hands and shallow breaths.

"Hello, this is 911 what's your emergency?" A male answered.

"I need help right now, I'm home alone and there's a few men at my door, I think they're going to break in. They know I'm home." I whispered out, nearly choking on the words.

"All right, I have your number pin pointed , units are in route to you. Stay calm and stay on the phone. Are they in the house?" He asked calmly.

"N-" I began but I heard the chair hit the ground hard that was under the door, because the door was forced open. "Yes" I swallowed.

"You are going to be ok, units will be there shortly. Where are you now?" He kept up.

"In my closet." I whispered, as low as possible.

My heart was pounding and I was squeezing my eyes as tight as possible , as I backed into the corner more.

I was too scared for tears to force their way out.

"How many suspects are there?" He promoted.

"I don't know." I whispered out again.

I tucked my phone under my chin as I reached up as quietly as I could, to a small safe that sat on the top shelf.

Phoenix had a hand gun. He had 2. One for work and one for the house. I remember first moving in here , and me getting upset about him having it in our house.

I became more frantic as I heard movement throughout the house.

I reluctantly clicked end with the 911 operator and dialed Phoenix's number.

"On my way home babe, I'm starving." He began a normal conversation.

"I'm not joking, there is someone in the house , what's the combination to your safe." I whispered so low, I wasn't even sure if he could hear me.

Phoenix jumped into action. "22,81,56. Take it out and there will be a clip right next to it. Put it in and take the safety off ." he explained.

I ran the directions through my mind , while tears were beginning to spill from my eyes.

I heard distinctively.

I followed the instructions carefully , until the gun was loaded.

"Done." I whispered.

"Ok. Sit in the corner of the closet, with your back against the wall. If anyone comes in DO NOT hesitate Amelia." He ordered me.

I nodded more to myself than to him.

"If anything happens, tell my mom, dad and sister I loved them and I'm sorry for everything." I was able to squeeze out of my throat that felt like it was closing.

"Do not talk like that, you'll be f-" I immediately hung up hearing the voices again.

I struggled to hold my breath as I sunk into the closet corner , a coat resting on my shoulder.

Officers are in route, officers are in route I told myself as the voices continued to talk.
