《Sirens in Seattle》{chapter 13}

"Turn right here?" I asked Phoenix as we came into an intersection.

"Yes, then go straight." He replied.

After our kiss, there was many more. Like a lot more, and Phoenix kinda sort of moved in with me.(Not officially yet) I've visted his apartment a few times and it was really nice, but I could never part with mine for too long, hence us being at mine most of the time. I mean he has a toothbrush there.

I know we only kissed for the first time one or two weeks ago, but it seemed like much longer as we grew closer and closer. He was very respectful too as we slept in the same bed together but he didn't try anything.

Phoenix got out of work early, as he was still in his uniform and we were out at lunch when he got a call asking if he could pick up his brother from school since his father was unable to.

Phoenix in his uniform made my stomach feel all light and airy because :

1. Hanging out with a cop made one a little nervous for reasons unknown

2. He was gorgeous. The way the dark uniform made his green eyes look more vibrant had a deep affect on my brain.

We pulled up to a large (very fancy) k-8 labeled . Kids were all running around in their prestigious uniforms tossing footballs to one another, all waiting for their parents to pick them up. All of the cars in the parking lot were shiny and top of the line.

Among all the students there was one little boy holding a galaxy project sitting on the curb by himself and as I got closer I seen it was Nick.

I honked the horn a little to get his attention and it did. He smiled, collected his project and made his way to my car , jumping in the backseat.

"Hey Mia." He greeted me sweetly.

"That project you got is really cool." I complimented him waiting for all the parents to hurry up and collect their kids and go.

"Yeah, it's broken though." He said sadly. I peeked in the mirror and seen him toying with Saturn's rings that had fallen off.

"How did you break it? I know you worked really hard on it." Phoenix prompted him. I also wondered how he broke it, Nick didn't seem to be the type to be careless.

"Well I didn't really break it. This guy named Larrent did it. But I'm sure it was an accident...." He trailed off.

"The same Larrent that broke all your color pencils?" Phoenix said angrily turning around in his seat to look at his brother. "We've talked about this. You need to stop letting you push you around." He scolded.

"Is he out here?" I asked feeling my own blood boil for the poor kid.

"Yeah he's that kid with the blonde hair." Phoenix pointed out , ready to get out of the car but I grabbed his wrist shaking my head and rolling down my own window.

"Hey Larrent!" I yelled making all the kids he was playing with stop and stare along with some parents. "Listen here you little shit, you need to leave Nick the hell the alone or I will personally make every single one of your worse fears come to life do you understand me?" I screamed at him. "You pathetic pile of nothing." I added for extra effect.

By now a lot of other parents were staring and the kid was near tears but I couldn't find myself to feel bad. He was obviously aware of his "upper" special status even as a kid, and I'd be dammed if I let him run over a sweet boy like Nick.

His mother , I assume then got out of her car wearing six inch heels and a wedding ring the size of a rock to comfort him and probably give me a peace of her mind. I didn't let the happen because I flipped them both off and rolled up my window and sped off. Well as fast as I could go in a school zone.

"Well, I probably won't ever be allowed anywhere near that school again." I said breaking the quite that followed as soon as I hit the main road.

Phoenix looked at me with such a perplexing look that I thought he was going to be angry with me since he was a cop and all and that was probably some type of verbal assault, but instead his face cracked and erupted into laughter and soon Nicks smaller laughs joined in.

"Mia" Phoenix gasped between breaths. "Y-you roasted a little kid." He said as tears even came out of his eyes.

"He was a bully!" I defended starting to chuckle to myself a little at my actions.

"And you flipped off his mom! I didn't think you had it in you." He said smiling proudly at me.

I decided to treat them both to ice cream so we stopped at a McDonalds and I ordered three dipped cones.

"What do you say to Mia?" Phoenix asked Nick before handing him the cone making me roll my eyes at Phoenix.

"Thank you!" Nick said reaching for his cone and devouring it in my back seat.

"Should we drop him off?" I asked Nix once we were on the road again.

"No I don't wanna go back to dads!" Nick whined.

"Nick, I'm going to Mia's after." Phoenix tried to explain but I shook my head and turned slightly to Nick while keeping my eyes on the road.

"How about you spend the night at my house with us? We can go ice skating tonight or something." I offered the bothers.

"PLEASE?" Nick immediately asked his brother.

Phoenix turned to look at me and I stuck out my lower lip pleading with his brother.

"Yeah I don't care, as long as it's fine with Mia, and you do your homework as soon as we get there with no arguing." Phoenix answered defeated waving his hand at us.

I looked at Nick in my mirror and winked at him making him smile.

------

"Just hold onto my hand!" I laughed at Phoenix who was tripping sloppily with ice skates on.

"It gets easier on the ice right?" He said through gritted teeth and clutching my hand tightly for support.

Nick was already on ice and zipping around like he knew how to ice skate before he could even walk.

I myself had taken a few lessens with my sister when were younger, so I'd like to think I was pretty good.

One thing I learned about Phoenix was that on the ice he had two left feet and it was absolutely hilarious. You definitely wouldn't think tough , sarcastic Officer Adam's downfall would be a pair of ice skates.

"How did I let you talk me into this?" He groaned as he held onto the side of the rink inching himself along and two young girls around the age of 12 passed us while giggling.

"I didn't." I said raising my hands in surrender "Your brother did."

"He could stay with us more often." I continued, knowing their father wasn't the easiest to get along with.

"One day, I always say I'll buy my own house and he could come live with me." Phoenix said with a small smile watching his brother laugh to himself and continue skating.

I've been to Phoenix's place once or twice but only because he lives in an apartment type place where a whole bunch of other young officers lived.

It wasn't very comfortable having all of their eyes on you, it made me feel guilty like I had committed a crime or something.

"You could move in with me." I said quietly making his eyes snap to mine.

He opened his mouth with wide eyes but he snapped it shut when we both spotted Nick across the rink slip.

"I got it." I blurted skating away as fast as I could to get away from the awkward question.

Why would I ask him to move in with me? Why would he even want to?

I tried my best to push those thoughts away as lifted Nick onto his feet.

"You ok?" I asked dusting some ice off of his pants.

"Yeah I'm fine. But I feel in front of Julie." He said sadly and I raised an eyebrow at him. "She's in my class and I really like her alot, but now she probably thinks I'm a loser." He said sadly.

The girl he was gesturing was skating alone and had large glasses and her blonde hair in a high ponytail. She was adorable and I even seen her glance over at us and smile before looking away quickly.

"Nick. Don't rule yourself out. Trying talking to her." I suggested patting him on the back lightly.

He shrugged and smiled up and and held my hand as we skated for a bit.

"Do you love my brother?" He suddenly asked surprising me.

"Well Nick, I mean we've only known each other for a little bit." I said blushing and looking down at my light pink leg warmers.

Suddenly they were very interesting.

"I think he loves you." Nick started. "He never stood up for any other girl to my dad."

"What do you mean?" I questioned further.

"Well Nix told me not to tell you, so don't say anything ok?" I nodded eagerly wanting him to continue. "My dad doesn't want him to be your friend. He called you a bad word I'm not supposed to say." he started making me raise my eyebrow.

"I promise I won't tell" I urged him a little more.

He gestured me too lean down and whispered softly in my ear "whore". "But I don't think that! If Nix didn't love you, then I would marry you." he said sweetly making my heart grow for the innocent boy.

My cheeks still flushed and I felt slightly embarrassed that my boyfriend's parent didn't like me, but i shook it off. If Phoenix hasn't mentioned it then I won't say anything about it. After all my dad didn't take a very kind liking to him. I was many things but a whore wasn't one of them.

"Let's go back to Phoenix, he looks like he's struggling. " I said smiling and racing Nick back to his brother, pushing out any negative thoughts coming to my mind.

But that questioned seemed to keep popping up in my head as I watched Phoenix struggle on his skates just to please me and his brother.

Do you love him? Maybe I did. I can honestly say I'm not sure what love feels like, but if this is it, it is amazing.
