《Unexpected Voyage》•CHAPTER 11•

"Now what?"
"If you say 'now what?' one more time, I swear Kol I will snap your neck and be done with you." I snapped at him at last losing my patience. He has been asking the same question for the thousandth time in the last ten minutes. Okay maybe I'm exaggerating. But I am super irritated. "And for the hundreds and last time, I am looking for a way to enter the house. So shush." I finished, looking for my target.
After our tiny winy accident due to my 'blind person one handed' driving skill, we vamp speed rest of the way here. Right now, we're lurking in the shadow not far away from the Whitmore house.
According to my supposed 100% correct information, Sarah Whitmore should still be alive and kicking which means the presence of Dr. Wes Max-freaking-field, hypothetically, is to be limited. Well, this actually acts both good and bad way for me.
Again I have to be careful of that Aunt also since she has knowledge about Vampires which means she might have her defenses also against my current kind.
'So no tension' I sarcastically thought after listing out all pros and cons of the current plan, mentally rolling my eyes at my paranoid self.
I was brought out of my thought hearing Eldest Mikaelson's sarcastic remarks. "And in all these, how this helps?" He questioned as he gestured towards the snuggling dog in my arms, "Don't tell me this stolen thing is going to invite us in?" He joked, making the fun of the poor creature. I tightened my grip on him in comfort as he let out a whine looking at the culprit. Like he understood he is being mocked.
Well, this guy, about whom opinion is made, came from the house whose gate was my driving skill's first victim in this world. I don't know whether he came to catch me for breaking into their house or for getting warm from the skin biting wind, I chose to believe the second one, because I fell in love with him.
So yes, I picked him up and vanished, leaving my shocked brothers behind, who apparently came out from their surprise after hearing multiple footsteps coming towards them. And in no time, they followed my lead and like this it became three to four members group with the addition of Padfoot. I know not too Original name but nobody can deny Sirius Black rocks.
"It's not stealing. It's called borrowing..." But before I could finish, he cut me off, "I might have been daggered the longest but I know the difference between the two terms. You didn't ask for permission before taking that dog. So, it's called S.T.E.A.L.I.N.G." He finished, spelling stealing to me like I am kid or the one who was daggered for nine hundred years and don't know anything.
"Nobody was taking care of him. This poor little baby was out in cold, whimpering, biting my shoes and barking at me for getting attention at that time." I said while rubbing my nose in his pure shiny black thick fur which looks silver color when light hits on it.
Well, coming to think of it, after wording the situation, it feels like this guy, who is currently licking my free hand, came to catch me instead. I shook my head inwardly not wanting to believe it because if it was true then why it didn't bite me and ran away by now, "Besides, we left our expensive car at their doorstep. If they miss it so much, they can sell the car and buy another one."
I might be trying to justify my acts, but I can't help but feel guilty. Usually dogs and the people around them have a beautiful relation which can't be replaced by another one. What if due to my intrusion, he might be losing his loved ones?
But it's true I would've returned him if he wanted to go back. I just needed him for my next step but I can't deny that I would want to take him with me if there is a possible chance.
"We clashed their gate and left a damaged expensive car. And if they miss it so much, they would need to sell Klaus's car to buy another one. But again, we can't forget the damage of their mighty gate. So please say the things with correct description next time." Finn said giving me a tight smile, causing me to look at him with sadness, knowing he is right. But he wasn't finished there, "And seeing his shiny furs with his strong muscle, I can say he has been taken care of. If you weren't a vampire, I am sure by now, you would've given him to me to carry due to his weight."
"Whoa, Hold on! We're here for an important mission not the trial of Anastasia Mikaelson. So, let's resume it later, Okay?" Kol asked looking at Finn, who gave a curt nod, and I, "Good, now we have to find a way to get in. So what's the plan, Sia?"
I gave him an incredulous look since he asked the same question again from which whole situation generated, just the wording is different. But I know he is trying to help me out of the situation so I changed my expression to a grateful one before he snaps my ungrateful neck.
"I'm looking for a specific window. Aha, there it is." I pointed to the one specific window where a head of blond hair boy is seen every now and then.
"Now you will see why I took him and what he does. Watch it." Saying so, I lifted my hands towards the said window, hiding in the shadow, after placing the dog below it, so it will be noticeable from inside. Familiar tingles are felt along with the white glow showed up in my hand.
Due to my amazing eyesight, I can see its working and the windows are opening. But at that moment, Padfoot let out a bark looking at my hand with its tongue out and tail wagging.
Hello? My hands aren't food for you.
And like that, I lost my focus and so instead of opening it, the window fell down, breaking out of its hinges. Literally
Padfoot let a yelp from this sudden so-close-to-his-comfort attack, gaining my brothers snickers. I rolled my eyes at them and the situation, seeing the light upped house.
So much for being discrete
"You THREE ruined my plan. I thought I will open the window and when he comes to close it, he will see this adorable guy," pointing to Padfoot who is now trying to reduce its existence at being pointed, "Below his window, fall in love at first sight, and come to fetch him ALONE. Not with his whole house."
I paused my scolding when I heard the sound of people talking.
"...what's was the sound Aaron?" A lady voice is heard. Maybe it is Sarah Whitmore, the only relative of Aaron Whitmore.
"I don't how, but my window fell down itself." A deep voice said. Aaron Whitmore
"What? Where you trying to sneak out and that's how it happened?"

"What? NOO"
"Do you need any help?" The creepy Dr. Wes Maxfield said.
"No thanks. I just heard a puppy below my window. I am just going to take a close look whether it got injure or not."
"Aaron..."
"Yah, I know. No pets."
We looked at the sound of door being opened and there he is, Aaron Whitmore, with his innocent and lil bit gloomy look which is going to increase with the death of his Aunt in the upcoming few months.
~
"Hello. You're Aaron Whitmore, right?" I can hear Kol asking the boy who is now crouching beside the silent dog as he came out of the shadow behind the said boy. I roll my eyes at his not-at-all-spine-chilling act.
One can learn "How to scar people by acting creepy 101" from him.
I sent him to 'talk' with the boy since he has more experience with all this compulsion than Finn and I. Not that I would confess it to him and that's for two reasons: One I don't want them to know that I don't know how to do it and Two I don't want to feed Kol's ego by complimenting him.
And what's the deal with the dog? He kept his eyes on me all the time with betrayal shining in it, making me feel guilty for no reason.
Padfoot, why are you acting so intense?
Removing my attention from Padfoot, I focused it on the conversation going on between Aaron and my creepy brother.
"Yes. Who are you?" Aaron asked cautiously, feeling something is wrong. Well, I don't blame him because there is definitely something's wrong.
"I am Kol Mikaelson and you have a beautiful house." Kol false gushed as he stopped in front of his target. I am sure if I didn't ask him, not to break his any body part, or worse kill him, he would've been done it by now.
The boy was about to reply just as Kol's eyes dilated as he stared the boy dead in his blue eyes. "I want you to invite me in. Along with my siblings," the wildest Mikaelson compelled smilingly as the boy invite him in with a confused frown, unsure as to why he was doing it.
"Thank you." I said entering the house, getting the attention of Aaron and his Aunt, who was busy in her laptop all this time. Before she could do anything, I inject the sedatives in her neck, which I brought with me.
Now, that's my expertise.
"We could've just snapped her neck." Kol suggested, earning an eye roll from Finn and I and a look of incredulity and fear from Aaron.
"She is innocent so not her." I replied calmly, looking around for that psycho and his possible attack. "There is someone else you could do that for. But..."
"Silently. I know." Kol completed the sentence, already used to my constant request though at the beginning he disagreed. But what's not possible with some puppy look, soft voice with threatening as cherry on the top.
"Don't worry love. I just sedated your Aunt. Everything is cool." I said to frightened Aaron in my over happy voice, earning looks of incredulity from all three of the gentlemen as they each raised their eyebrows at me in disbelief causing the poor me to sigh in resignation, "Probably, not everything is cool."
Enzo has spent more than 60 years of his vampiric life under Augustine Society in captivity. He was tortured, used as laboratory rat, bounded to a gurney with their hands inside his body. By now, he built up a resistance to the vampire weakness of wood due to the experiments he endured.
Sometimes, he wants to give up, turn off his humanity and be done with it. But he can't. Maybe because he is a soldier and soldiers doesn't give up.
Or it is the hope of meeting with the love of his life, Maggie James, once again. Though he is not sure whether she is alive or death. But in one sense, he can say she is the one thing that's keeping him from shutting it off.
Like every day, his present torturer and his future murder, name Dr. Wes Maxfield, is looming over his weak self, speaking in his voice recorder, turning his flashlight, whose battery doesn't die down ever, to look into his eyes, which is his chosen body part of today's cutting session, taking pieces of his eyes out, writing notes in his pad, whose pages doesn't finish ever, and R.E.P.E.A.T. It keeps on repeating like a loop.
"What? How?"
Nothing is different if only he ignores the voice he is hearing and seeing the unalarmed look of the psycho doctor he can say, it's only him who is hearing it. There's not supposed to be any party today otherwise he would've been locked in the cell rather than in the lab, considering how 'protective' Augustine's are regarding him.
"Welcome to the basement of your house, about which you didn't have a single idea."
He focused on their conversation, seeing that it is working as a perfect distraction from feeling the piercing of his eyes and the sadistic smile of the doctor.
"What's that man doing to his eyes?"
"Brother, I don't think you need the knowledge of your missing nine hundred years to know what's going."
"Shush, you are going to alert the enemy."
"Is he the one we're rescuing?"
Before he could hear what the person replied, his painful scream drown it because at that moment Dr. Wes tore a muscle of his eyes due to strong pull. But it seems his scream wasn't loud enough to mask a gasp from one of the intruder which unfortunately is heard by Dr. Wes who without wasting time took a vervain filled spray and turned around but before he could do anything, Anastasia pushed a syringe filled anesthesia in his neck, successfully knocking him out.
Tilting his head, Enzo saw a blonde girl with empty syringe in her lifted hand and his unconscious torturer at her feet. Due to his injured-still-healing eyes, he can see three people shadows which indicate that they are the rest of the people of the previous conversations.
'Were they talking about him, the person who they are going to rescue?' He thought, feeling hopeful. Though he is trying to diminish it, he can't help but crave for it.
Before he could question, the girl removed his straps which bounded him to the gurney and took out blood bags from her bag. Without wasting a moment, he finished it, followed by another, after another, and in no time, empty blood bags littered the laboratory floor.
"I guess you've some questions. First let me introduce myself. I am Anastasia," the blonde girl said stretching out her hand which he eyed for a moment before taking it, "And the boy with bat is my brother, Kol," the said boy waved his bat towards his direction which he doesn't know whether it is a sign of hello or of beating, "And the man beside him, holding Padfoot, is my eldest brother Finn," Padfoot? Possibly, the dog's name. The pointed man's face looked like he would throw that dog out of the window nevertheless he kept a grip on it. He can see the concern for him in his eyes. Maybe he does look horrendous. Thankfully, due to the blood in his system, he healed fast and can see things, "As you can guess, we are vampires and are here to rescue you."
'Rescue him?'
It has become a fantasy. He can't believe his ears. Maybe his mind is playing tricks. It's too good to be true. Or it might be that his torturer is performing another experiment on him in order to break him.
Before his thoughts could go any darker, a squeeze on his hand brought him out of it. Looking up in her blue eyes full of reassurance, he knows it's true. He is actually getting rescued.
"Gorgeous," He began completely missing the growl of the two vampire brothers, "What about him?" He asked pointing towards the human boy. She noticed how she is hesitating in introducing him, causing him to narrow his eyes at her.
"You've accent like us." She said, totally ignoring his question, causing him to raise an eyebrow at her questionably. She let out a sigh before confessing, "Well, he is Aaron, Aaron Whitmore."
Before he could rush to him and take his revenge for what his family did, he was pushed against the wall by a pair of arm. He heard a bone breaking sound followed by complete darkness. That's when he realized, the sound of bone breaking was of his neck.
"What did you do?" I asked, throwing my hands in the air to express my frustration, "I thought of making him understand the situation."
"He called you Gorgeous," Kol replied followed by Finn who surprisingly is the one who broke the neck, "And he wasn't leaving your hands." Classic
It seems like both brothers were having same thoughts. I let out a defeated sigh and exaggeratedly rolled my eyes at them.
Great, now I have to deal with overprotective vampire brothers
After some scolding and some warning, I started explaining them of today's event about which they had zero idea but then also they supported me without any objections for which, I'm extremely grateful.
I made up a story of how I heard about this society who does 'researches' on the species like us. Doing further investigation, I learned about Augustine vampire and that's how I made a plan to rescue him.
In the middle of explanation of today's activities, Enzo woke up. But he was more focused on hearing my made up stories rather than killing the heir of Whitmore Family.
And like that Enzo shared his story of captivity, of how he was tortured, pushed him to every limit they could visualize, vervained him, flayed him, and what not. I stopped listening at the middle, not being able to take it anymore and started observing the expression of everyone.
Finn is shocked, Aaron eyes are overflowing with guilt, and Kol... Well, Kol face is showing concern? Now that's new. I thought Davina is needed to teach my wildest fictional brother some humanity. It seems there's some left. I was feeling proud of him but his next words shattered all of it.
"That means YOU are the one who gets to kill the guy," Kol began, kicking the unconscious doctor, "As revenge. Then what about me?" He dejectedly whispered before turning towards me with a pout, "Sia, where's my killing? You promised."
Brother, are you sure it's the right question to ask after one share his awful, painful, and sorrowful tragedy?
And he has the audacity to POUT?
I just want to hit him with something and be done with him. And it seems I'm not the only one because next moment, he earned a slap upside the head from Finn. Shocking
"I like you." An amused Enzo replied. A chuckle escapes his lips making the situation playful.
"You might not get to kill him unfortunately but you do get to light things on fire." I said before Kol can give his expected snarky comment, throwing the lighter in his direction with a smirk, "What says?"
Ruffling my hair, he replied with a huge smirk, mirroring my own, "As you say my dearest Sia."
And like that whole laboratory is destroyed along with journals, note pad, voice recorder, and not to forget Dr. Wes's mangled body who was tortured by not only Enzo but also Kol in the same gurney where the former one spent his captivity tied down.
Apparently, Enzo had decided to 'share' his killing. I can sense a possible friendship blooming. After all, their personality matches in murdering category.
On the other hand, I made sure fire doesn't spread whole house with my magic. Of course first I let Aaron know about the future of the burnt laboratory who didn't express any opinion regarding it. But I can sense his approval.
By now I guess he already connected the dots of how his parents died. Seeing him standing alone, I approached him.
"Sorry about all of that. That was kinda rude of us. Pushing our way in your house, threatening, and all that --- Believe me it's my first time." I said awkwardly, scratching the back of my neck. "We just wanted to rescue that guy," I added, pointing towards the weak but happy Enzo, who didn't stop glaring at him after my story telling finished, knowing that the boy was a Whitmore, "He has been locked here for a long time, gone through all those tortures of which we just saw a demo. He didn't deserve it. I hope you understand"

Wander West, in Shadow
BOOK 1 COMPLETED A young wizard journeys west, through dark forests and dangerous lands, searching for something. Accompanied by a wild witch who has secrets of her own, they come across terrible creatures, hauntings, cursed villages, and memories from their past. Who else will they meet along their journey, and to find what he is looking for, how far will the wizard have to wander west? NOTE: The above synopsis is intentionally written to be as spoiler-free as possible. If you would like a more in-detail synopsis, one that contains minor spoilers, please check out the "Synopsis" chapter at the beginning of this fiction. If you read and enjoy, please leave a rating or review! FORMERLY TITLED: THE GLIMMERLING This story was formerly titled "The Glimmerling", because the first part was a short story of that title; it has since been expanded upon, thus the title change. Chapters 1-8 (30k words) are the first 'arc', if you want to get a feel for the story. To give some context on the setting: Magic is a bit weaker in this story than you might be used to, and we start off following some relatively new magic users. For some perspective, being able to light a campfire with magic is considered relatively advanced for someone who is the age of the main character. Magic can become very powerful - and there are some examples of powerful wizards within this story - but it's not where the main characters are yet. Part of the story is about following them as they learn more about magic. Enemies are also very dangerous, and running, hiding, or trying to talk their way out of a dangerous situation is often a better choice than fighting for the characters. While I have added tags for traumatizing content, sexuality, violence, swearing, etc. I try to avoid super-explicit descriptions of these things. But they are part of the story.

Esper: Search for Power
Dan Martin has a good life. He's respected at his job, and enjoys his work. He is close to his family, and they love and support him. With engaging hobbies, relative financial security, and freedom to learn and pursue his interests, Dan is happy. So it's not particularly welcome when he's selected by an inscrutable and seemingly omnipotent System as a test subject. The downsides: All of this is insane and by any rational analysis he's gonna die. The upsides: Super powers, a cure for a physical disability that had limited him, and above all, so very much to learn (for as long as he can avoid dying). I am very much a beginner as an author, and any feedback or suggestions on how to improve would be deeply appreciated. Chapter releases should be daily for the first two weeks and sporadic after that as I use up my buffer. Please consider this work as a rough draft subject to revision and/or retcon. It is not only my first attempt at original story telling, but at world building and RPG style system design. The latter has been very difficult, even drawing on the brilliant work of many RPGs and LitRPGs for inspiration. Thank you to any willing to give a new story and a new writer a try!
