《Sour or Sweet》fifty-two

This belly might have been in the way, but I definitely enjoyed myself last night. It's been a minute since I did anything. Between Bari's antics and the sibling bickering, I don't know which was funnier. Today was a Saturday and I had to open the store. I still don't trust my two workers enough to let them be key holders. Sorry, not sorry. But since it's a Saturday, the store is only going to be open for about six hours.

Ugh! I do not want to get out of bed. Hell, I can't. I removed the pillow from my back and threw my legs over the bed. I held my back and stood up. Whew! I swear I have been pregnant forever. Cam and I agreed on a surprise baby shower, so when we go to the doctor's on Monday for my check-up, I'm just going to ask for copies of the ultrasound to send out so our folks can plan it. Between my parents and Cam's, this baby is about to be spoiled rotten. Especially by Cam's parents, being that it's their first grandchild.

I waddled to the bathroom and released my urine. I wiped and waited because this baby be on my damn bladder. I could be done peeing and here came some more. I rolled off some tissue and wiped again before flushing the toilet. I fixed my panties and walked over to the sink. I washed my hands and took care of my oral hygiene.

"Baby!" I shook my head once I heard Cameron yell for me. Loud ass. I walked out of the bathroom to see him walking into the bedroom all sweaty. He's been working out in the backyard lately, claims he's getting fat.

"You ain't hear me calling you?" He mugged me as he pulled off his clothes, throwing them in the dirty clothes basket.

"I was in the bathroom." I walked over to the dresser and pulled out a pair of scrubs. They seem to be the only thing that gives me comfort when I have to wear clothes for a long period of time. I know scrubs at a jewelry store? Mind y'all business. I'm pregnant, so I get an excuse.

You're probably the only person I know who has taken maternity leave and is still working. He shook his head and snatched the scrubs from me.

I frowned. "Why did you do that?"

"Cause you're not going to work. You are done for the next two months."

"But baby!" I stopped my feet.

He shook his head and threw the scrubs. "But baby, my ass. You can't even walk down the stairs without crying. Call your employees from my phone and tell them to meet you in a little while so you can pass the key off. Finna take a quick shower, then we can go."

"You get on my damn nerves." I rolled my eyes and walked out of the bedroom downstairs.

"I love you too!" I shook my head as he yelled after me. I sighed as I held onto the railing. Ugh, oh my god. I took one step at a time until I made it to the bottom. I walked into the laundry room and opened the dryer and grabbed whatever was there. It was a pair of maternity leggings and a t-shirt. I already had my undergarments on, so I just slipped everything on. Nigga better feed me too while he's keeping me home.

As I was walking back into the front, I heard the doorbell ring and sighed. Lord, I just want to sit down. I rubbed my stomach as I walked to the door and looked out the glass, not seeing anybody or anything. That's weird, and damn my phones are at the store, so I can check the cameras. I unlocked the door and stepped onto the porch, looking around. I looked down and raised my eyebrow in suspicion. I looked around again before squatting as best as I could to pick up the orange envelope.

I kicked the door shut as I was opening the large envelope. I pulled the contents out and my stomach dropped. As I flipped through, my breathing hitched. Oh my god. I dropped the pictures and started screaming Cameron's name. "AMARI! AMARI!"

I grabbed my stomach and tried to control my breathing.

"Brielle!" I saw Cameron running down the stairs with my AR-15 at his hip. "Baby, what's wrong?"

I shook my head and pointed to the floor. I was walking in circles, rubbing my stomach, trying to calm down. He bent down to pick up the pictures. He frowned and looked up at me. "What the fuck? Baby, these pictures date back to last year and now."

I nodded my head rapidly, still with a shaking breath. "Yes, somebody's been watching us. They got fucking pictures of my sister and her baby walking out of my house! Where's your phone or iPad so we can look at the security footage."

He shot up the stairs and I just shook my head as I continued rubbing my stomach. I need to call my daddy because what the fuck is going on.

"Baby, there's nothing on here. I've ran it back like five times. It's like it just appeared out of nowhere. Somebody had to hack into the feed." Cameron shook his head.

I looked up at him with a frown on my face. "Baby, I need my phones."

"You want to ride with me?"

I shook my head. "No. Can you call Drea and Shonti when you get there? Tell them we won't be opening today and they will still receive pay for the day."

"C'mere mama." He grabbed my arm and pulled me into him the best way he could. He kissed my forehead and placed his chin on top of my head. I sniffed and he pulled back, looking into my face with a soft expression. Cam wiped my face.

"It's okay. I'm about to go get your phones, and we can discuss everything when I get back. Are you sure you don't want to ride with me?"

I pouted and shook my head no. He kissed my lips and jogged up the steps. I grabbed the pictures and walked into the living room, throwing them on the coffee table. I pulled my MacBook from under the pillow and sat it on top of my stomach, quickly typing in my password. I clicked on the FaceTime icon and tapped main man. It rang three times before his face popped up on the screen.

"Hey, muf—you been crying? What's wrong, Brielle?" I shook my head and bit my lip, feeling the tears roll down my face. Damn, I was already a crybaby, but this baby just got me emotional as hell.

"Daddy, Somebody has been following us." He furrowed his eyebrows and sat up.

"Ashley! What you talking about Bri?"

I balanced my mac and stretched my arm out, grabbing a couple of pictures from the table. I held them up and shuffled them so he could see. "Somebody left these on the doorstep a couple of minutes ago, and it's more."

"What the fuck!? That's the boy's birthday party. Wait! Is that you leaving a doctor's appointment? Bye! We're on the way. Call any and everybody that's in a picture to your house now." I shook my head once he hung up and closed my MacBook, sliding it off my stomach. I looked up once I heard footsteps and Cam came into view.

"That was pops?" He asked, and I nodded my head.

"While you're on your way to the store, I need you to call Ma and them. He said, everybody that's in a picture needs to be here, so that's Kayden, Bari, Essence, Nova, and Treyvon, including our family."

He nodded his head. "Alright. I'll call up everybody in the car. I really don't want to leave you here by yourself, but I don't care that you're on probation. Use this if you have to, and we'll handle whatever comes after."

He handed me the AR and kissed my forehead and then my lips before walking out of the garage door. I rubbed my stomach and sighed. Something is not right about this at all. I grabbed a picture and held it up to the light. My draw dropped because I'd be damned. Oh, somebody is about to die. I'll share what I've discovered when everybody gets here, because ain't no way. In the meantime, I'm about to take a nap. I turned my body and put my back up against the armrest. I had the AR in my line of sight just in case. I closed my eyes and rubbed my stomach until sleep took over.

About three hours later, everybody was at my house. I was currently sitting on the couch with my feet in my daddy's lap, eating a buffalo chicken wrap that I was going to regret later. I bet everybody is wondering why they're here. My daddy and Cam said we weren't going to say anything until Kai got here because we wanted her to finish her shoot. We wanted to make sure everybody was accounted for.

"Okay, I'm here. I'm here. What's going on?" Kai busted through the door and looked around at everybody.

I looked at Daddy. He looked at Cameron, and Cameron looked at me. I nodded my head as he grabbed the envelope from the table. Cam stood up and looked around the room. "Okay, this morning, around nine, Bri and I got a package. I was upstairs, but she retrieved it from outside. The package is in my hand, but it's really what's in that package that matters."

Cameron opened the envelope and passed the pictures around. "Before you ask, yes, those are surveillance photos. Somebody has been watching us since last year."

"And I figured out who's behind it." I took a sip of my strawberry lemonade as everybody whipped their heads towards me.

"Who is it, muffin?" I took one last sip of my lemonade and placed the cup on the side table.

"Cameron psychotic ass ex and before y'all try to plead a case, hold a picture up to the light and tell me what you see." Everybody did as told, and their faces were in shock.

"Well, I'd be damned. She put her initials in the back of the picture." My daddy shook his head and tossed the picture.

"Knew I should've killed that bitch when I had the chance!" Jabari shouted and threw the picture. I shook my head because I felt the same way. His sudden outburst didn't phase us because we knew the story besides Trey, Nova, and Kayden. I don't know who's going to tell them, but they need to know a little because they're involved.

"And I think she has a partner because she's not smart enough to pull this off by herself. Yea she may be a murder but she cant be following all of us around the state. All our routines are different." Cameron spoke and pulled at his hair, something he did when he was nervous."

"Well, I don't care. She and her partner gotta die because she got pictures of my baby leaving doctor's appointments, which doesn't sit right with me." My mama frowned and bounced Sorayá in her lap. My bad baby was one, and she was giving us hell. She love her some Cam and Bari though. Got them wrapped around her little fingers.

"So what are we going to do?" I don't know who asked that, but my daddy sighed before speaking.

"I've assigned security detail to everybody in this room until we find this damn girl and whoever she's working with. Your security will always be in a black Chevrolet Tahoe and it will be two car lengths behind you every time you're driving. They're highly trained and armed. Everybody is about to train to fight. You can pick any style you want to learn, and that's what you train for. I recommend boxing, MMA, Muay Thai, and Taekwondo. Bri is best with boxing and MMA, but she's out of commission right now, so she can't be a trainer."

"Well damn, you'll never have to worry about me betraying the family because sheesh." I bust out laughing at Kayden as he held Zaire in his arms, who was playing around with his chains around his neck. I shook my head because that's not even the half buddy.

"Dre, Sash, Can I speak with you two in the kitchen? Come on Ash." My daddy picked my feet up from his lap and slid off the couch before making his way to the kitchen.

Damn man. I can't even enjoy the last two months of my pregnancy because I've gotta watch my damn back. Bruh, I hate bitches. Like damn, I beat yo ass and now you wanna come out of hiding just to stalk me. Bitches want my life that badly. I hissed as the baby moved around in my stomach. Stink has been active all day. I'm glad Cameron wasn't a hoe because I swear one crazy bitch is enough. To make matters worse, I can't even use any type of gun if it came down to anything because I'm still on probation for a year.
