Kentrell had left for tour. I couldn't be any happier and grateful for a bold step in my life and my hugest achievement yet. My parents were present with me that week but had to leave a day after the D-day and I felt so fulfilled that they were able to watch me bag my degree and made me do the whole cap in the air throw for pictures.
Darajah stood by her words and threw me a little bash to celebrate and I barely knew quarter of the people (my parents and a few cousins that went to the same college as me) she invited since they were more off Instagram but they were nice enough to congratulate me and make the celebration memorable.
She also forcefully gave me several gift cards from Saks Fifth, Nordstrom, Sephora, Gucci and Dior. All these because I refused the hundred thousand she had given me right after the party she threw. Darajah's friendship was enough for me, I needed nothing materialistic from her. I valued her love and loyalty for me way more than the luxury she had to offer as gifts although I was still grateful.
"When was the last time you spoke to ?" Darajah asked me. We both were presently at my place, catching up on gists, watching Netflix and eating different flavored ice cream scoops from a bowl while laid up on the bed. The usual linkup.
I was aware she was referring to Kentrell, so I rolled my eyes and mindlessly shoved a spoonful of the cold dessert into my mouth without watching my teeth and instantly caught a brain freeze. I winced, "Before his flight took off and after he landed." I spoke with nonchalance but I knew I was wrong.
My heartbeat sped up when she mentioned him and I got butterflies at the same time sadness. Truly, that was the last time we communicated. I'd been avoiding and ignoring Kentrell's attempts to explain himself further and apologize because I thought I would get over what he did quicker that way. I could be wrong but that was my own coping mechanism at the same time his own punishment.
Darajah sighed and wiped the corners of her mouth with a napkin before saying, "Sweetie I see through all that act so drop it. You both miss each other and I understand where you coming from but y'all need to talk. Atleast get closure if you wanna end the relationship. Jania only had a pregnancy scare, did you know that?"
"What?" My brows shot up, "I mean that doesn't really change much, what if she was actually pregnant for him again. He still lied to me Day."
"Yes, it doesn't change the fact that he still stepped out on you and I'm not tryna' defend him but that was before y'all got this serious in the first place. Kentrell can do stupid shit sometimes and fuck everything up but he would never lie about his true feelings. He truly loves you May, and I know you feel the same way too, I want you happy again. Like you were before all these disputes came up." I tried stopping the tears from shedding but they still did.

I felt Darajah embrace me in a comforting hug and rubbed my back while I practically cried on her shoulder with my tears drenched on her blouse. She held me close for a few minutes until I gathered myself. Using her thumbs, Darajah wipes at my wet cheeks and pecked my temple.
"Just try, try on your part. You both need to talk and clear things up. Explain how you really feel and let him do the same, don't just walk away May." I agreed with a nod and thanked her. "Now call him up. Right now."
I sighed, "Fine. Excuse me then."
"Don't try to have no phone sex cuz I'll be watching y'all. And yo' hoe ass cousin better not try me with her chicken-bone-chromosome-yellowbone ass else I'm stomping her out." I laughed loudly. Darajah was something else.
Kentrell's number rang twice after I dialed it and he answered, "Hello?"
I swallowed. His voice made me shudder. "Hey, um...how is the tour going?" I didn't know what to say so I chose that.
I heard him sigh deeply before the audio call was switched to FaceTime. I hesitantly accepted not sure why he wanted to video call and Kentrell's face popped up all over the screen like he was trying to poke his head through the camera.
"Lean back a bit with your face all in my screen like that looking like Draco." I laughed.
He grinned flashing me his diamond encrusted grills that always felt cold against my clit when he would nibble— "I see that look in yo' eyes mama, you miss me don't you."
"Pfft, boy bye." I moved my lips around and pushed some of my hair out of my face.
"A'ight a'ight, keep doin' that." He chuckled.
I noticed he was in a moving car so I asked, "You on your way somewhere?"
"Yeah, we 'bout to go have dinner at this soul food joint downtown. I bet you gon' like it if you try the food, it's bomb but you cook better." Kentrell told me.
"Does someone miss my cooking?" I teased him.
"Fuck yeah I do. But listen.." Kentrell paused and I knew what was coming next, "I'm gon' continue apologizing till I'm forgiven. These few days away from you been hard enough and not hearin' from you nearly had me on the edge. Jania was never pregnant to start, her scary ass—"
"It's scaredy Kentrell not scary. Just thought you should know." I snickered to myself when he straight faced me for a while like he was pissed. "Carry on."
"Nah fuck 'det." He chuckled. "I missed yo' sexy ass so much, words can't explain Maeve. We really need to talk when I return. I tried reaching you on your day but you never responded but issokay I deserved that. Congratulations mama." Kentrell had a way with swooning you with the right words and then his accent just topped it off for him.

I nodded, "Thank you."
"So I got you a lil' token don't say it's too little, I know you deserve more mama and I'll do more when I return just it for now, hm?" Manage? With Kentrell you couldn't manage anything it was always extravagant. So I was curious to know what this 'lil token' was.
"What is it Kentrell? You better not be on your sly shit. If it's too much I won't accept it." I warned.
He merely chuckled, "It's gon' be there in a few I can't stop it na'. Take care of yo' self mama."
"You too. Bye."
We hung up and I hopped out of bed in one of Kentrell's sweats now mine and my tank top adjusting my nip slip. I went to the living room and the tension in the air was thicker than both my thighs combined with Darajah singing along to City Girls song, Act Up and Lulan mugging her with pure hatred from across the room.
"Act up you can get snatched up dirty ass ho— Bish how did it go?" Darajah cut herself mid sentence when she saw me.
"Fine I guess, he said he had a small token for me and it's gonna be here in a few." I shrugged.
"Then let's go wait for it till it gets here."
"What if it arrives in a few as in hours not minutes and it's late I wanna rest just tell me when it gets here." I waved off and tried to go back to my room but Darajah pulled me back and held me by the hand till we were outside.
"I know it arrives in exactly two minutes so chill." She slipped out before gasping.
"Day what the hell do you know about this and you aren't tell me?" I squinted at her. But just then, a car pulled up right across the street where we stood and another one stopped behind it simultaneously. It was a grey RR Evoque and out came the guy I had bumped into at the restaurant the other day, he approached my house with some papers in hand.
"Hey, I remember you." He smiled brightly at me.
"Well I don't remember you and why are you at my house?" I asked him. Did he trail me here or worse, stalk me? "Are stalking me?"
"Nah never that. Actually here's what happened a very good client of ours at the car dealership I work with bought a car to be delivered to this exact home address. Maeve Olivia Welsh correct?" He informed me.
I was flabbergasted! "No, I'm—"
"Yes tha fuck, you're at the right address. She's Maeve and I'm her best friend, lemme have them papers." Darajah interrupted me and took the sales documents from the espresso skinned guy and gave them to me with the pen. "Here sign this, you and Kentrell can sort this out later but just accept it first."
I couldn't even find the words to protest so I just did as told and he went ahead to hand me the keys, "It's also company policy that you check out the car for verifications on the authenticity so can you come wimme to see a few things."
"Go ahead and check your new ride, I'll be waiting here."
I reluctantly followed him and we entered the vehicle, I won't lie it was perfect, the interior was red and black with acute leather seats. It smelled like torn leather inside and everything screamed expensive. I desperately needed to speak with Kentrell.
"I see you confirmed it huh?" He smiled at me and I did the same although forced because I didn't really want it. "I'm Leon by the way and I won't ask why you don't seem happy with such a car, but I can tell you that it's better than booking car rides."
I raised a brow at him, "How'd you know I book rides?"
"Oh so you do book rides?" He said like he was surprised and he looked funny.
I laughed and shook my head, "You're not slick. Anyways I'm just overwhelmed because I wasn't expecting this when my boyfriend said he was sending me a little token I'm only shocked for this."
"Boyfriend you say, then I shoulda' came sooner huh?" Leon licked his lips and ran his hands over his smooth waves. Had it been in any other situation I would've felt a way about him but I couldn't even see him more than someone whose merely good looking.
"Uhn-uhn I doubt if your chances could be any slimmer. But thanks for delivering my gift, Leon." I went to open the door.
"My job, my pleasure, Maeve." Too corny and definitely not Kentrell.
