Autumn's POV
"Autumn, this is Deputy Hassler. She'll be showing you around the station and teaching you everything there is to know." Brody explained.
"You can call me Lindsay. It's nice to finally meet you Autumn." Lindsay greeted.
"Same here." I replied.
"Brody's told me so much about you. It almost seems like he's in love with you...I'm kidding!' She burst out laughing. "I know Brody would never do a thing like that."
I faked laughed, as did Brody...I guess she doesn't know Brody as well as she thinks. "Brody? Exactly what does this have to do with school?" I asked.
"Ummm...well, it could be a chemistry class, biology, math, forensics, law, history...you name it." He looked down at his watch. "Hey I have to get going. The streets aren't safe without me watching. I'll see you in a couple hours, ok?" He said, hugged me and kissed the top of my head. "Take care of her Deputy. Your job depends on it." He joked, while walking out the door.
Lindsay shook her head while laughing. "He's some character isn't he? Well the, lets get to learning." She stated enthusiastically. She led me over to the front desk. "Here is where we get all the emergency calls. The dispatcher gets on the radio and announces the call, and every officer in the department receives it on their radio, but only a few near where the emergency is go to the actual emergency." Then she led me through a door. The room looked like an office of cubicles. "In here, is where the detectives, investigators, etc... work when their not in the field. Officers also on desk duty...people who can't work in the field for some time due to an injury or other medical reason, work in here too. Over there..." she pointed to a man sitting behind a desk in the far corner near the window, who looked frustrated and angered "...is one of the detectives. He's working on a big case right now....best not to bother him. "

"My, my, my...who's this?" I handsome young police officer asked, looking me up and down with a cocky smile.
"Hanson, get outta here." Lindsay ordered.
"Hey, I just want to know who the pretty lady is." He said, staring into my eyes.
"Hanson, I'm warning yo-" Lindsay started, but was cut off by 'Hanson' ignoring her completely.
"What's you name?" He asked me,
"Autumn." I simply answered.
"Autumn." He repeated in a daze. "A pretty name for a pretty girl. So tell me Autumn, what's a pretty girl like you doing here?" He was still smiling at me. I have to admit, he was really good-looking. He had bright brown eyes, blonde hair that was short and messy but somehow made him look sexier, and a smile to die for. His body looked good from what I could see. This man could be one of the sexiest men alive if he were famous.
"Lt, Taylor asked me to watch over her today and show her around the station." Lindsay answered for me.
"Taylor? Someone like Autumn doesn't need to be watched over...she doesn't look like some naive little girl...I can tell she has street-smarts." He still didn't break eye contact with me.
"Lt. Taylor is homeschooling her and..."
"Homeschooling? Does he make you wear that uniform?" He asked, chuckling, and tugging on my shirt.
"No. He just transferred me into homeschooling today." I answered, a little but shyly.
"Oh really? How old are you?"
"16"
He tilted his head and scanned my body with his eyes again until his eyes met mine again. "You don't look like 16 year old girl to me."
"Well I am."
"What does Brody expect you to learn here?"
"He expects her to learn as much as possible, Hanson." Lindsay said, starting to get aggravated.
Hanson finally took his eyes off me and looked a t Lindsay. "How, exactly?"

"None of your business. Let's go Autumn." Lindsay ordered, leading me away from Hanson.
"I'm Deputy Hanson by the way. But you can call me Leo." He called after me.
We were finally away from Leo and out of his sight. "Does he always act that conceited and cocky?" I asked unbelievably.
"No. Only when he sees something he wants. But back to learning. In here..." She led me through double swinging doors "...is the lab. This is where we test the evidence like blood, fibers, fingerprints, shoe prints, photographs...things like that."
"The forensic scientists do an amazing job." I heard Leo say from behind me. "They've solved some of our biggest cases."
Lindsay rolled her eyes. "Exactly which cases would you be referring to?" I asked, testing him.
"You wouldn't know them if I told you." He said trying to avoid the question.
"I bet I would. I've studied all the cases solved by this police department." I said.
"Really? Did Brody tell you or did you learn them in school?"
"I stusy them on my own time."
Leo had a shocked expression on his face. "Impressive. Then tell me, which one's the most interesting to you?"
"The case of the midnight killer. It's interesting that he killed a person a night, at exactly midnight. The way he murdered them...all the same...it's surprising how it took so long to catch him. After all, he was right under your noses." I lied. Lindsay gave me a confused look
"Oh yes, yes...I remember that one quite well. I was actually on of the police officers that arrested him." He said, trying to impress me.
"How could you be? There's no such thing as the midnight killer." I admitted.
Lindsay started laughing hysterically. Leo glared at her, then looked back at me. "Ok, you caught me. I'm just trying to impress you, but your obviously too smart to fall for any of my lines, so I'm just gonna get down to the point. I would like to take you out sometime...just the two of us. It'll be the best time of your life. I guarantee it."
"Sorry, but I have a boyfriend." I rejected him.
"Why, he must be a lucky guy." He said. Then he whispered in my ear "but I'm gonna be even luckier."
I pushed him away and walked out of the lab, Lindsay following closely behind. I think Leo was right behind us because I heard heavier footsteps close to us. Just in time, Brody came back and I ran up to him and hugged him. He looked surprised by it, but quickly understood when he saw Leo. Brody hugged me tightly and glared at Leo. "Hanson, what did you do?"
"Nothing. I was just getting to know Autumn."
"He was trying to seduce her." Lindsay said annoyed.
Brody sighed angrily. "Hanson, you put one hand on Autumn, I will throw you off the force quicker than you can blink."
"Taylor, you can't stop two people in love from being together."
"Your damn right. But I can keep a sex crazed deputy away from my poor innocent girl who happens to have a fia....boyfriend already." He said, correcting himself in the process.
"Boyfriends come and go, but true love stays forever."
"Brody, can we go home? He's scaring me." I pleaded, wanting to get away from Leo as far as possible. I don't need anymore dilemmas in my life.
"Sure thing." He let me go and led me out of the building.
"See you later Autumn. " Leo said right before the door closed behind us.
