Autumn's POV

I'm back at school...my old school. Brody didn't ask me anymore questions about Jack. And if he did ask me, I wouldn't answer any. I still cry every time I think about that day, so I try to keep my mind off it.

"Autumn Reynolds?" I heard the principal call my name.

"Yes." I answered, turning my attention towards him at the door.

"Please come with me and take all your belongings with you...that includes everything in you're locker too."

"May I ask why, sir?"

"You're being transferred out of this school."

I looked down sadly, but did as I was told. I got up from my seat and said goodbye to my English teacher and all my friends, then followed Principal Linton down the hall. We stopped at my locker to get all my book out. Principal Linton was kind enough to help carry some of my books. We then wen tot his office, where I saw Brody sitting there, waiting. He smiled when he saw me. I just glared at him.

"Ok Ms. Reynolds. Brody, your guardian, is transferring you out of this school and has decided to homeschool you."

"What?!" I turned towards Brody angrily.

"What? Autumn, listen to me. You'll be safer with me than at this school. I can't let what happened, happen again."

"But Brody! It's not gonna happen again! You know why!" I whined.

"Just trust me Autumn. As long as THEY are still out there, it's not safe. They want revenge, and you're it." He explained.

"Excuse me for interrupting, but exactly why isn't it safe for Autumn here?" The Principal cut in.

Me and Brody both turned our attention towards the Principal. "Principal Linton, your secretary let a complete stranger take Autumn. Now, this stranger wasn't a stranger to me, but to Autumn. Your secretary's carelessness put Autumn's life in danger as well as mine and my cousin's. " Brody said angrily.

The principal looked shocked. "Mr. Taylor, I'm truly sorry that happened. I promise you I WILL discipline my secretary."

"Good, but Autumn is not staying in this school.'

"But Brody, what about my friends? What about graduating and college and prom and sports? My life is here at this school. I can't just leave it behind."

"You can still see your friends whenever you want, you will graduate, you will go to college, and there are sports outside of school you can do. The Shady Creeks Police runs a soccer program...you can join that next season. As for prom...well, there a police department ball every winter and I'd love it if you'd accompany me."

I thought for a minute. "Alright." I finally agreed. "One more question. What about your job? You can't home-school me if you're working."

"You'll come to work with me."

"Fine." I said slumping down in my chair.

"Now that that's settled, Autumn, we'll surely miss you at this school, but I'm gonna need you to return all the textbooks the school has loaned you."

I nodded my head and gave him my Algebra, English, Geometry, Chemistry, and History text books...that pretty much got rid of most of my books.

"Is that all?" The principal asked making sure.

"Yes." I replied.

He nodded his head. "Thank you. Well, there's nothing else here left, so you're free to go."

Brody got up and shook his hand. "Thank you Principal Linton."

"No problem. Bye Autumn."

"Bye Principal Linton." I said stomping out angrily.

Brody followed me out to his car. I got in, not speaking to him.

"Ok, so to start of your homeschooling, we're going to the police station. I have to work, so one of my colleagues is going to show you around the police station, while I'm out fighting crime." He chuckled to himself. "Her name is Deputy Lindsay Hassler. You two will get along fine."

I didn't say anything. I just stared out the window, trying to tune him out.

"What? You're giving me the silent treatment?" He asked stupidly. I didn't answer. "Autumn, I love you. Please understand why I'm doing this. I don't want my fiancee to die because of me."

"Fiancee." I said in a daze. "I forgot we were engaged." I looked down at my ring and took it off to get a better look at it.

"I love you Autumn. Everything I do is for you."

I looked at the ring closer...there was an engraving in it. -Forever and Always- "Forever and always." I read it out loud. I looked at Brody and gave him a sweet smile.

"You know, I was wondering when you were going to notice the engraving."

"I love you too Brody." I said ignoring his comment.

"So are you still mad at me?"

I shook my head. "No. You're only trying to protect me."
