Brody's POV
I woke up to the morning sun. It was peaceful, the only sounds were of birds singing. I looked at the clock. It was only 8:30 am. I dared not to move, for fear of waking up Autumn. She deserved some sleep, after all, she had a pretty eventful night. I looked at her...the only movement was her chest moving up and down while she breathed. Her bare body cuddled up against me, with my arms wrapped around her, lovingly. She shifted a little, and then her eyes fluttered open. She smiled at the sight of me.
"Good morning." I sung.
"Morning." she replied in a sleepy voice.
"Sleep well?" I asked.
"Very."
"So what did you think of last night?" I asked while she nuzzled her head against my chest.
"It was fun. Your family's really nice."
I chuckled. "I meant after the party."
"Oh. That was fun too." She replied, starting to drift back to sleep.
"Are you still tired?"
"Mhm." She nodded her head.
I smiled at her cuteness. ";Go back to sleep for a little while"; I told her while gently stroking her hair.
Soon after, I drifted back to sleep as well.
I jumped at the sound of someone knocking at the door, and fell off the bed, almost bringing Autumn down with me, but luckily I caught her before she fell. Her eyes widened, giving me the 'what the hell?' look.
Someone knocked on the door again, and both our heads turned towards the door. "Who is it?" I asked loud enough for them t hear me through the door.
"It's Mom."
"Uuhhhh...Just a minute." I called back." I looked at Autumn. "Go in the bathroom and hurry." I whispered. She quickly jumped off the bed and ran into the bathroom. "Wait. Take your clothes with you" I said gathering her clothes off the floor, while she his her naked body behind the door. I ran over and gave them to her, and gave her a kiss.
"Is everything alright?" Mom asked through the door.
"Yeah. I'll be right there." I called back. "Autumn, quick, hand me a towel." She did and I wrapped the towel around my waist. I pushed past Autumn an into the bathroom, turned on the sink and splashed some water on my face and my hair. Then ran back out, while Autumn closed the bathroom door, and raced to unlock the door for my mom. I opened the door. "What's up Mom?"

"Were you in the shower?"
"Yeah, but I'm finished now, so what do you need?" I asked eager for her to leave.
"I just wanted to tell you that lunch will be ready in 10 minutes."
"Alright. I'll be down soon."
She smiled and started to walk away but stopped and turned around. "Oh, and I can't find Autumn. She's not in her room."
"Oh ummm..." I rubbed the back of the neck, thinking. "Maybe she went for a walk" I said, making it seem like I just realized where she was, even though it wasn't the truth. Mom nodded her head, but then looked at me up and down. "Mom, that's a little bit creepy." I told her, starting to back into my room.
Mom raised an eyebrow. "You weren't in the shower were you."
"O-of course I was." I said starting to stutter.
"Mhm. Should I bring Autumn some of her clothes here so she can just take a shower in your room?"
I sighed in defeat and gave her an innocent smile. "That'd be great. Thanks Mom."
She smiled back at me. "I'm just glad you found a girl that makes you happy."
I looked up at her, surprised. "Really? Even though..." I trailed off.
Mom nodded her head. "Even though she's 16, still in school, and under your custody until she's 18. I don't care about those things. I only care about your happiness. Just don't let her social worker find out about it. You'd be in hell then."
" I dont worry about her social worker...I paid her to stay away."
"Brody Taylor, when will you learn." Mom scolded while stomping away.
"But it was a good thing this time."
Mom turned to face me. She sighed. "Yes it was. But every other time you paid someone was for sex, or drugs, or to get out of a crime, which I'm still not proud of you for."
"But I stopped all those things when I moved to New York, Mom. You can't hold my past against me."
"I'm sorry Brody. New York was a good thing for you. And Autumn is even better for you, so you make sure she doesn't slip away or I'll slap you silly."
"I won't Mom. I love her."
"Good. Now go back to Autumn and tell her I'll be right back with some clean clothes for her." and then she walked off to Autumn's room.

I closed the door and ent over and knocked on the bathroom door. Autumn opened it wearing her pajamas. "My Mom will be right back with some clothes for you."
"You told her?" She asked unbelievably.
"No. She figured it out. Go take a shower. Lunch will be ready in 10 minutes."
"ok". she started to close the door, but I stuck my foot in the doorway. She looked at me, confused.
"Unless I shower with you...then lunch will be ready in 20"; I said seductively.
Autumn rolled her eyes. "Lunch will be ready in 10 minutes." And kicked my foot out of the doorway, so she could close it. I laughed.
"What? I need a shower too. and you just can't leave me after last night."
"I can and I will. And I thought we were going to take our relationship slow, seeing as I'm still underage""What people don't know, won't hurt anyone."
"Whatever. " And then I heard her turn on the shower.
There was another knock at the door, so I opened it and it was my mom, just as I suspected. She handed me some clothes for Autumn. "These should fit her. Later I'll take her shopping and Brody, put on some clothes."
"I will."
"AND let her shower ALONE." Then she walked off.
I widened my eyes. Sometimes I think my Mom is psychic, but I shook the thought away and walked back into my room. I placed her clothes on the dresser and laid down on the bed, waiting for Autumn to come out so that I could take a shower. I didn't bother getting dressed...I was just gonna undressed when I got into the bathroom anyways.
She finally came out, wrapped in a towel...I couldn't take my eyes off her. I think I was making her uncomfortable. I snapped myself out of my trans. "Umm...My om brought you some clothes...they're over there on the dresser""Thanks." she said and went over to them.
"I'm gonna go take a shower. I'll meet you downstairs."
"ok"
I went into the bathroom and took a short shower. I got out and dressed myself in some black dress pants, and a dark blue button down shirt leaving the collar unbuttoned, revealing my undershirt. I went downstairs to the dining room where I found most of my family and Autumn. Autumn was sitting next to Zac and those two were having a conversation about The Smurfs from what I could tell. But Autumn looked amazing. She was wearing a lavender strapless dress, with a black bow around the waist. She looked absolutely gorgeous. I went over and too the empty seat next to her. My Uncle Nick started talking to me.
"So Brody, how's life in New York? Hectic a presume?"
"Not really. I go to work, go home, eat, sleep, take care of Autumn. Not much really" I replied.
"Uh huh, and what is it you do again?"
"I'm a police officer."
"Really? That's very interesting. And that's what you've been doing all these years? What's your rank? you can't still be a deputy can you?"
I shook my head while finishing my bite of mashed potatoes. "No. Lieutenant. I'll be promoted to captain soon."
"You must be good at your job then."
"Yes. I am."
"Baby Smurf is the definetly the cutest Smurf ever." I heard Zac say. I turned my head to focus on their conversaition.
"Ok. Which one is cuter? Baby Smurf or Maggie from the Simpson?" Autumn asked him.
"They're both so cute. Ughh..that's a tough one. Baby Smruk is so cute and innocent and Baby's Smurf's little feet are so adorable."
"I know." Autumn said excitedly.
"But Maggie is adorable. She has no feet and that little bow in her hair just makes me want to hug her. Plus she's a secret agent and is the smartest of anyone on the show."
"Zac, I think you just lost your manhood." I stated.
Autumn laughed.
"Did not. I just think they're cool characters." He replied in a manly voice. "But I have to go with Baby Smurf...he's just so cute."
I rolled my eyes. "*couch* Loser *couch couch*"
"Ok mister Manly man. Who do you think is cuter?" Zac asked.
I glanced over at Autumn. "I have to go with Baby smurf too. Baby Smurf is cute and adorable like Autumn."
Autumn smiled and continued eating her lunch.
"So Autumn, i have a big day planned for us. First though, you're going shopping with my mom after lunch. Then, I'm taking you somewhere special."
"Where?"
"It's a secret."
"Brody you know I don't like secrets."
"You'll like this secret. I promise."

Sweet Minds
"No one can see it, some can feel it, and only the few can use it. We belong to the few." Marith Merryfield felt anything but merry that morning. She found herself waiting for a delayed train on a deserted platform, in the freezing cold of the Dutch autumn. Just when the strangeness is making her consider turning around and going back home an empty train rolls into the station. For reasons unclear to this day she decides to get onboard. An unlikely, and quite impossible, train accident is about to hurtle her into a world she had always suspected existed. It was a dark and absurd place she had rejected and suppressed when she was young. Now she would need that dormant part of herself to survive. After a brief hospitalization she must choose between two continents and finds herself reluctantly boarding a plane to Oregon to be reunited with her shadows. Through an improbable and unfortunate series of events she is soon introduced to a motley crew of characters that appear to be carrying the same struggles through life. They possess a familiar sense of inadequacy and insecurity. Marith realizes that for the first time in her life she has found herself a tribe, or, as they prefer to call it, a Chain. She is introduced to a world of Prophets, Runners and Mages led by an Oracle and a Watchmaker. Over the course of several weeks Marith learns that, together with her Chain, she is expected to save this fabric of reality, by fighting a mysterious and immortal creature and his aggressive pet. In order to have a chance at overcoming this force of nature she has to revisit the darkest and most desolate corners of her mind. ***** The total word count of the first 12 chapters amounts to about 85.000 words. This Book
The author, Edward Faust is aware that “This Book” does not really describe what this book is about. We shall pretend that it is a meta artistic choice but the reality is that Mr. Faust is bad at coming up with titles, and since starting This Book back in 2015 as a NaNoWriMo project he could never come up with a good one. This Book’s genre is YA Supernatural, but that’s only as helpful as any genre tag (IE: not very) so I shall describe it further. This Book is primarily about reincarnation, but it also features mythical creatures such as angels (known here as Seraphs), demons, Byzantines, as well as homeschoolers. Two mythical homeschoolers in fact make up the main characters of this work, a pair of siblings named Grayson and Kish. They live in metro Atlanta in the year 2019 AD with their Aunt. On one particular day they are plunged into a rabbit hole of spiritual and metaphysical politics by the arrival of a mysterious one-eyed Green haired woman and strange humanoid creatures into their lives. That is where the story begins. Yes. This book can also be found at https://thisbook.home.blog/
