《The Cop Who Loves Me...A Teenager》chapter 16

"Ok Autumn. What do you want to know?" Brody asked me with a serious look.
"Why didn't you tell me your cousin killed my family?"
"Because...I didn't want you to see me differently. I couldn't stand to see you in any more pain than you already were. I was gonna tell you eventually."
I nodded. "And why did you take me in? Was it because you felt sorry for what happened?"
"No. Well, yes....I did feel terrible about what happened. A 16 year old girl's family was killed by my cousin. How could I not feel sorry? But the real reason I took you in was because I didn't want to let you go. I barely knew you and I wanted to get to know you. I fell in love with you Autumn, I couldn't let the love of my life slip away from me." He looked at me with loving eyes.
"You could've let me go off to California like that social worker wanted. Maybe we wouldn't be here right now Brody. Maybe I wouldn't be in more pain than I already am!" I exclaimed.
Brody stood up "You would've been in more pain in California Autumn!!! Would you rather be living with a low class couple who don't give a fuck about you!! Who only care about the checks they get to take care of you?! Those people would beat you every chance they get! They wouldn't love you like I do!" He yelled back at me. Tears were streaming down my face.
"Then living with them would be one step closer to seeing my family again!!" I cried
Brody gaze on me softened. He sat next to me and wrapped me in his arms, pulling me close, rubbing my back soothingly. "Autumn, don't think like that. Your life is worth living for. You'll see your family again when the time comes, but it's not your time yet. Please Autumn. You mean everything to me." He lifted my head up to meet his eyes. "I love you. And don't ever forget that. Can you ever forgive me Autumn?"
He wiped away my tears with his thumb and stared deep into my eyes. I couldn't find my voice, but actions speak louder than words. I closed the distance between us, pressing my lips against his. He kissed me back. We broke away for air. "Is that a yes?" Brody asked breathlessly brushing against my lips.
I laughed. "Yes."
"Good."
"One more question." I stated.
"What is it?"
"Zac said that you have a car that you don't drive anymore. Why?"
Brody glared at Zac. "You told her?" He asked through clutched teeth.

"Sorry dude. It slipped out." Zac replied innocently.
Brody sighed and looked at me again. "Trent was driving my car when he hit your parents' car."
I back away from Brody. "What? Were you in the car too?" I said starting to cry again.
He shook his head. "No. I let him borrow it. I had no idea he was gonna get drunk."
I nodded my head, blinking the tears away. Brody kissed my forehead. "I'm sorry." He whispered.
"I think I'm gonna go to bed." I said with a blank expression. I got up without looking at either Brody or Zac and walked into my room, getting some pajamas, slipped them on and went across to Brody's room. Ever since Halloween I haven't been able to sleep in my room. Brody understood that. I laid down on my side of the bed and drifted of into a deep sleep.
Autumn's Dream....
"Autumn." I heard my mother sing my name. "Autumn."
I turned around in a circle trying to find her. I finally saw her, my sister, my father, and an unknown man walking towards me. My surrounding were all white. It was like a never ending room. My family and the unknown man got closer and closer. I ran to them until we finally hugged eachother.
"Mom! Dad! Cindy! I missed you so much!" I said happily.
"We know. We've been watching you." My Dad said smiling at me.
"Where am I? Am I..." I trailed off.
"No silly. You're not dead. We just came into your dream. Duh." Cindy told me.
i rolled my eyes. "And who's that man?" I wondered pointing over to the unknown man who had blue eyes, blonde hair, and was tall...he kinda looked like Zac an a little bit like Brody. "I've never seen him before."
"Him? Why, that's Trent." Mom said, motioning Trent to come over.
"Hello. Autumn." He said sticking his hand out. I shook his hand. "It's nice to finally meet the girl who Brody is going crazy over."
I smiled at him. "Autumn, we don;t blame Trent for our deaths. He is...or rather was...a good man or made a mistake. It's like what you told Zac. Anyone can make a mistake." Mom said wisely.
"That's right Autumn. And we've been watching over you. I think Brody is a suitable man for you...and that takes a lot for a father to say. My baby girl is growing up." Dad said teary eyed.
"So you're saying I should give Brody a chance to redeem himself." I stated.
"We're saying, follow your heart. Brody will protect you, something that we can't do." Dad revealed.

"But you said you were watching over me." I reminded them.
"We are. But we can't protect you like Brody can. Remember when Brody came and saved you from that man on Halloween?" Mom asked. I nodded. "We sent him to you, but he saved you physically. He put that man and his partner away to jail for a long time. We just helped somewhat."
"So I can trust Brody not to hurt me again?"
"He made a mistake breaking up with you. But he's trying to fix it. Give him a chance little sis." Cindy explained.
"I love you guys so much." I said starting to cry.
"We love you too." Dad said back.
"Autumn? If you could, tell Brody and Zac not to blame themselves for what happened. It makes me feel even more guilty." Trent asked, while holding his heart, pretending he was hurt.
We all laughed. "Do spirits even have emotions?" I joked.
"Hey, just because I'm dead, doesn't mean I dont have a conscience." Trent replied.
Then they all started disappearing. "What's happening to you?" I asked, afraid.
"We're going back sweetheart." Mom answered sweetly.
"No. you can't. Not now. Please." I begged
"We're sorry, but it's not up to us. It's up to the big guy." Dad said pointing up.
"We'll see you again honey, but not soon. Maybe when you've lived a long happy life, we'll see you again. Good luck sweety. And you'll be a great Mom." Mom said disappearing even more.
"I love you Autumn!" Cindy said right before she disappeared.
"I love you too." I said in a soft voice.
Wait...did Mom just say I'd be a great Mom? What did she mean by that? Oh...Me and Brody are going to have kids someday. Of course.
Brody's POV
I plopped down on the couch, covering my eyes with my arm. "Zac, I don't know what to do. This is all my fault. If I hadn't let Trent borrow my car, we wouldn't be in this mess."
"Dude, it's not your fault. It's mine. I shouldn't have let Trent drive." Zac said sitting on the chair across from me. I heard Autumn open her bedroom door. I shot up, hoping she was coming back into the living room, but she just walked across the hall into my room, wearing a tank top and shorts. "Isn't that your room?" Zac asked confused.
"Yeah." I replied like it was nothing, laying back down on the couch.
Zac gave me a look. "So why is she going in there?"
"Ever since Halloween, she hasn't been able to sleep in her own room."
"So where have you been sleeping?" He asked me.
"In my bed." I said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"With Autumn?"
I sighed. "Yes."
Zac gave me another look. He raised his eyebrows and was smiling widely. "Getting some action I see." He stated.
I threw a couch pillow at him. He started laughing. "No! Zac, she's 16. I wouldn't do anything to jepordize her being here."
"But if she were older, you would do that fine piece of-" He started.
"Zac! I'd like it if you'd respect Autumn and not treat her like a piece of meat." I scolded.
"Sorry man. But if I were you, I'd tap that before a certain cousin does." Zac said wih a cocky smile. I threatened to throw another pillow at him. He took cover. "I'm kidding! I'm kidding! You got to her first and I'll respect that."
"You better." I warned.
"Don't worry. I don't want to unleash the devil in the great Brody. I've been there and I DON'T want to go back."
"Oh so you do remember." I said raising an eyebrow.
Zac rolled his eyes. "Yes oh mighty one. That's why you called me over here, isn't it? Don't worry Brody. I haven't been involved with them since California, and when you and Trent beat me up and landed me in the hospital for a month, then moved me out here."
"Good. They haven't contacted you have they?"
"No. Not yet anyway. They contacted Trent about a month before he died, but Trent told them to fuck off."
"Which one of them called him?"
"Snake." Zac replied.
"He doesn't know we're here, does he?" I asked suspiciously.
"I-I don't know. But I heard from Trudy."
"Trudy? How's she doing? I bet she misses you, doesn't she. After all, you were her first love."
"She's fine, but she's with Snake now." He said preparing himself for my anger.
"And you talked to her?! What did you tell her, Zac?" I asked angrily. Zac could've told her anything. And Trudy could tell Snake anything Zac said...which could clues to where we are!
"Nothing! Don;t freak out on me! Trudy did all the talking!" He replied defending himself.
I sighed in relief. "So you didn't say anything besides hello and goodbye?"
He rolled his eyes. "I asked how she was doing too. I'm a gentleman Brody."
I froze when I thought of something. "What was she doing calling you anyways? Just to tell you she's with Snake?"
"No...Yes. But she told me something important that's relevent to you."
I motioned for him to continue. He took a deep breath in and out before speaking. "They're looking for you Brody and they're close to finding you."
Oh. Crap.
