《✔️| Gilbert (K.M. Love Story)》~••♪22♪••~

Niklaus made his way back into the house after having a chat with Caroline and his blood instantly began to boil at the sight in front of his eyes, dancing together in the ballroom, drawing attention from the crowds around them were the girl he fancied and his older brother. The hybrid felt anger as he knew that Elijah always managed to win over the women he fancied, he couldn't allow his brother to win again.
Ariana Evangeline Gilbert had come into the hybrids life and spun it on its head, he had not been prepared to find love in Mystic Falls, he had only expected to inflict pain. Considering the family she belonged to, Klaus found it incredibly hard to carry out his plans. He wanted nothing more than to ruin the Gilberts and the Salvatore's too but she stood in his way at every hurdle. She had changed him so much and although he didn't exactly accept the change, he appreciated the way she made him feel. It was different to how he'd felt before.
Klaus leant against the archway of the ballroom as he watched them spinning around together , he caught someone staring at him from the corner of his eye and turned to find Damon Salvatore smirking at him, knowing that the hybrid was angry and absolutely loving it.
Ariana finished her dance with Elijah and thanked him as he guided her to the bar once more and allowed her to take a seat, she accepted a drink he offered with a smile and relaxed slightly, glad that the older brother was being so kind to her. She wished she was spending this time with Klaus but he had expertly disappeared and she knew he was probably flaunting his flirting with Caroline. She didn't know why he ever seemed to show an interest in her. She didn't even like herself. She supposed she must be pretty as she was identical to Elena and everyone fancied her but that was Ariana's only redeeming quality.
"Ah, Niklaus. How nice of you to join us" Elijah suddenly said which caused Ariana to jump, not expecting him to talk so loudly. Ariana felt a warm hand place at the back of her chair and she was swung around to face someone, presumably Klaus.
"Hello love" her thoughts were confirmed by his charming accent that always managed to catch her off guard even after spending so much time with him. "So... how about this dance I was promised?" she wished she could see his expression. Just as she took his hand, she heard Elijah call out to someone, her twin sister in fact.
"Elena!" he began to walk away, she heard his footsteps as he did so and she sighed as she took the hand held out for her, allowing him to lead her to the dance floor, she had decided to question him, she needed answers and he would provide her with them.
"So, love, how was your evening?" he wondered as they began to sway.
"What do you want from me?" she instantly asked, she wasn't going to allow him any time to overwhelm her with his pleasant accent and his smooth words.
"Whatever do you mean love?" he wondered, curious and slightly worried about what was going to happen.
"Why do you spend so much time with me? Act so kind toward me whilst you should despise me for who I am?" she pondered aloud. "Is it just an act of pity?"

"No, of course it isn't. I can't explain it" he attempted to inform, worried that her questions had arisen, he didn't know how to explain his feelings to her.
"If you cannot tell me what purpose you have in spending time with me, then I have no reason to believe that it isn't a part of some plot. You flirt with me and make it seem as though I mean a damn thing to you when it makes no sense. You could have Caroline, it seems that she is who you are truly after. From what every one has said to me... maybe you are building up to something. You want to ruin my family, am I your way of doing that?" she seethed and he didn't answer, he was in pure shock. He felt like becoming mad, his usual route of defense but he held it in and resigned to saying nothing. What could he say? he didn't want to look weak. Perhaps it would be best if the girl was gone from his life for good. Before he could decide what to say, she answered for him "I thought as much"
Ariana was devastated as she walked away, this is not how it was supposed to be. She wanted to be near to him but how could she be when he treated her family so poorly? especially considering the fact that he didn't even attempt to say that she meant anything, she shouldn't speak to him. She had no reason to. Oh but she desired the way he made her feel. As she made her way through the people, worried that she'd walk into someone, she felt an arm take hers.
"Hello Ariana" Elijah spoke and she stayed at his side as Elena spoke, perhaps finishing a conversation they had been having.
"It is true" the seeing doppelganger concluded and Ariana frowned, Elena was lying. The Mikaelson did not see it but it was clear to the blind girl. Elena was her twin and she could always tell when she was lying.
"Ladies and gentlemen, may I please have your attention" a voice spoke after the clinking of a glass and everyone turned to who Ariana presumed was Esther, the original mother. "I invite you to join me in raising a glass, it provides me with no greater joy than to see my family back together as one" she stated "I'd like to thank you all for being part of this spectacular evening." she put emphasis on 'spectacular' and it made the blind girl frown. "cheers" there was a round of response and tickling of delicate glasses as people drank. Ariana heard Elena's breathing change slightly though not significantly.
"Cheers" Elijah smiled and himself and the two doppelgangers clinked their glasses together before drinking a small amount of the substance provided. People began to chatter, drink and dance once more and Ariana relaxed. She began to follow Elena to wherever she was headed. The two stood at the bar for a minute.
"Elena" Damon called out and grabbed both the girls by their upper arms, turning them around to face him. "Hello Aria" he pressed a kiss of her forehead before turning back around to face the seeing doppelganger. "Did you get what you want?" he wondered and Ariana frowned, she really had to start paying more attention to what was going on around her, especially considering she had probably angered Klaus.

"Actually, yes" Elena responded in her usual breathy tone that different from Arianas.
"Good, you can tell me on the ride home" Damon concluded and Ariana vowed to listen to the conversation that took place during that ride "we're leaving, come on." he grabbed Elena and Ariana heard her struggle.
"No, Damon. Let go of me" she complained. She heard a sigh and knew that Damon had relented his grasp. "Look, I'm sorry that I had to, uh, cut you out of the plan" she began and Ariana joined the conversation.
"What do you mean, what plan?" she wondered.
"That's what I would like to know" Damon sided with the beauty in pink before turning back to Elena "There shouldn't have been a plan. You shouldn't be here, neither of you should" he groaned in annoyance, knowing it was dangerous for both of them.
"Do you think I like going behind your back?" she suddenly responded in a much higher pitched tone. Ariana thought that Elena must enjoy it considering she attempted to do it so often. "I don't" Elena answered herself "but if I hadn't asked Stefan to help, then you would've tried to be the hero." Ariana rose her eyebrows and decided to stay out of that particular conversation, she didn't want to hurt Damon anymore than Elena already was. "And you would've ruined everything" Elena tugged on the needles she'd already stabbed into the older Salvatores heart and the blind girl grabbed the raven haired mans hand reassuringly.
"Sorry for trying to keep you alive" Damon spoke before Ariana cut in.
"You know Elena maybe you need someone to be the hero sometimes to stop you from doing stupid things."
"You don't know what you're talking about Ari" Elena responded to her sister, feeling guilty in the knowledge that she had sentenced the originals to death despite the connection that Ariana and Klaus seemed to have. It appeared that Elena was always ruining things for Ariana though she truly wanted her to be happy. And she needed Klaus gone, they couldn't trust him.
"Ariana is right.... again." Damon continued "Clearly Stefan doesn't give a crap anymore."
"Now you're mad at me for including Stefan?"
"No I'm mad at you because I love you" he finished. There was a long pause and Ariana suddnely felt like she should not be included in that conversation, she felt awkward being so and wanted to walk away but would surely walk into a wall.
"Well, maybe that's the problem" Elena returned and Ariana felt like gasping, and slapping her sister. How could her twin be se horrible to Damon? all he was trying to do was protect her, Ariana wished she had someone that cared that much about her. The pause was much longer this time and Ari squeezed Damon's hand, getting pressure in return and knowing that he was upset about her words.
"No, that's not what I-" Elena attempted to correct but he cut her off before she could complete her futile apology.
"No, I got it, Elena. I care too much. I'm a liability... how ironic is that?" Ariana could hear the pain dripping with every word he spoke and was worried, Damon always did some stupid things when he was upset. Suddenly, the conversation was cut off by the clicking of heels as Caroline approached from behind Ari and Damon.
"Hey, have you guys seen Matt?" Ariana did not acknowledge her, she was inwardly jealous of Caroline for being so perfect, she could easily have Klaus with a snap of her fingers whilst Ari had to fight for it, getting little in return. An silence fell over them and Damon walked away dragging Ariana up the stairs behind him. She knew he was upset but at that time she didn't say anything, he didn't need words to comfort him right now.
The pair heard a gasping and the slight sound of struggle and Damon made his way over to the balcony with the pink beauty, finding Kol Mikaelson squeezing Matts hand to the point where the bones could be heard cracking.
"Hey, hey , hey, easy on the hand, the guys a quarterback" Damon stated in his usual snarky tone and Ariana wondered what the younger original brother would do. He was clearly angry about something. Ari was worried for Matt who she could hear moaning in pain. Evidently Damon didn't like the way Kol was looking at him as he zoomed across the balcony and threw him off. Ariana yelped as she heard the body hit the ground.
"Damon!" she had no time to rant at him any longer as there was another whoosh and footfall as he jumped over behind Kol. Ariana ran to the railing, not being able to see anything of course but hearing a scuffle and groans along with skin hitting skin. She did not know who was winning or losing the fight. There was the resonating sound of breaking bones and the doors beneath her burst open.
"Damon" Stefan groaned as he entered the cold night air, seeing his brother on top of Kol Mikaelson who now had a broken neck. "Are you crazy?" he asked, looking up and noticing Ariana and Matt, the girl was currently cuddling into the quarterback, trying to soothe him as he moaned at his broken bones. More footsteps could be heard, most slow and calm though a single set of heels was clearly running.
"Maybe a little" Damon responded as he looked at Elena and the Mikaelsons join them, he glanced up slightly to see the worried eyes of the other doppelganger. "Far be it for me to cause a problem" Ariana rolled his eyes, knowing that he acted in that way to prove a point to Elena and not to protect Matt. Ariana sighed as she heard him walk away and she turned to Matt.
"Come on, lets get you back inside" she spoke softly and the Mikaelsons below looked up at her supporting the quarterback and struggling to do so.
When Ariana had successfully delivered Matt downstairs, she began to wonder away, hoping to find someone to take her home. She was sure she'd be able to considering it was a town where everyone knew everyone but she didn't get very far before a hand clasped against her mouth. She struggled, not knowing who it was but the cloth on her mouth smelt odd, before she could place what it was, she fell unconscious.

Checkpoint
as an anomaly sweeps the world, many gain strange abilities. as for Mal, the power makes it so they cannot die, or more accurately, they get sent back in time to the last place they were safe at. A power that seems like a blessing until you’re crushed under rubble, drowned in sewage, shot, stabbed, all while having the royalties to feel all the pain from such fates. And to put the icing on the cake, a strange message appeared before everyone’s eyes stating that unless someone breaks down the gate within 17 years, everyone will die”. now Mal needs to find a way to “break down the gate” (whatever the hell that means) or they will be forced to die and revive, only to die again for the rest of time. Which would suck, probably. /————————————————— this is technically a time loop novel. the MC is chaotic neutral with a worryingly lack of care about how their actions affect people. i want to interact with my readers so give critique and suggestions. I will sometimes host polls for the personality for new characters, story decisions, and the ability to cancel annoying characters, besides Mal, if they get enough complaints. I am also impatient and will end decision polls when I want to write more. If no one votes, I choose, so don’t let that happen. if you’re want world building check out hitchhikers guide to checkpoint (an encyclopedia of what I made up with lots more explanation)

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
