Caroline curled the last strand of Ariana's hair with a smile and a appeased hum. Somewhere in the building, Elena Gilbert stood with Rebekah and within the next five minutes, the only female original would find a silver dagger in her back.
"Your hair looks perfect"
"I'll have to take your word for it" Ariana retorted, she could feel the makeup on her face, the silk that covered her body and the jewelry which adorned her skin but she saw none of it.
"Tonight will be exceptional, I'll make sure of it" Caroline whispered into her ear and she nodded with a gentle smile. The cheer captain proceeded to take the blind girls hand and escort her down the stairs.
Damon, Stefan and Elena stood at the bottom of the staircase dressed superbly, Elena stood tall to the side and radiated confidence which was unusual for her. All three of them did however glance up when they heard the click of heels.
"You look gorgeous Ari"
"Thank you"
She wore a silver dress, the top was tight and the bottom flowed perfectly, sheer tights covered her pale legs and velvet heels adorned her petite feet. Her hair was elaborately curled over her right shoulder and her makeup was perfected. She wore her necklace from Damon and her charm bracelet along with a ring she'd received from Rebekah.
Damon had given Ariana, Elena and Katherine necklaces as a joke a few days prior, he had gotten to the point where it 'irritated' him that he couldn't tell the difference so they now each had a necklace with initials.
"Come on then Monkey, you stay with me tonight alright?" Damon whispered for confirmation and took the girls hand gently.
"The gym is flooded so let's all head off to the Lockwood place" Caroline sighed sadly, she'd wasted a long time in organizing that dance, now it was ruined.

"You are coming?" Ariana whispered to her so called date; Damon.
"Yep, chaperone, plus someone needs to look after you" he taps her nose gently and she giggles.
"Right, let's go" Elena sighs and takes Matt's arm who'd entered a short moment ago.
-----
Ariana shuffled her feet forward, walking alone, she felt Stefan wrap his arm around her waist and she felt a cold metal rod placed in her hand, her stick. It helped her not walk into people.
"I'll stay with you" Stefan stated and they entered the mansion, heading through and into the garden where Ariana heard music blaring around her and excited chatter.
"What's happening?"
"Klaus Is here" Stefan managed to get out before they heard the voice of the hybrid himself.
"Hello little love"
"Nik?" She then heard him chuckle, encouraging her to grin and reach for him, the hybrid embraced her gently, still in shock from the last time.
"You look beautiful"
"I'll have to take your word for it"
"Um...I need to go and talk to Elena" Stefan sighed and walked away, he had received a glare from Klaus encouraging him to leave.
"Well, in my professional opinion, you look a picture love"
"Professional opinion?" She asked, standing beside him, her right hand digging into the flesh of her left slightly, her stick still held in her left.
"Yes, I've been alive for a thousand years, I've seen lots of beautiful things."
"I bet you have" she responded and felt blood trickle gently down her hand from the force of her nails. The people around her kept bashing into her body and her head felt like it'd explode from paranoia. She had extreme anxiety in crowds.
"Ariana, what did you do?" Klaus gasped gently and took her bleeding hand in his, he assessed it and the blood flowed into his palms, four crescent moon slits were spread across her left hand.

"I-i um...its the crowds, I didn't want to come here" she stuttered to explain and stepped closer of him as a warm body pressed against her.
"It's okay love, I've got you" the hybrid assured and wrapped an arm around her waist, his chin resting on her shoulder.
"I don't like being in crowded places because I can't see" she sobbed out.
"It's okay. I understand" he whispered to her and began walking, she allowed him to take her away but didn't know where they were heading.
"Where are we going?"
"Shh, it's our little secret" he whispered to her and she felt carpet beneath her feet, they began walking up stairs and he took her into a warm room.
"Nik?"
"I'm right here sweetheart" he informed and she felt her body pushed gently back onto a mattress the softness relaxing her.
"Stay with me?"
"Of course" he whispered and sat beside her, her breathing was still hyperventilated and he knew if he didn't get her calm soon, she'd have a panic attack.
"Ariana love, I need you to take slow breaths, can you do that for me? Please Ariana"
"I can't" she sobbed into his chest and he heard her heart shudder slightly, her breath beginning to pant and tears trail faster down her face.
"No, no Ariana, shshsh, please shh" he attempted to stop her panic but it was to no avail as she cried out.
He didn't know what was happening to him and he surely wished it wasn't, he was feeling an attachment to the small girl and any form of emotions were not good for a hybrid. If he wasn't careful, someone would use his emotions against him and he couldn't let himself have a weakness.
"Klaus, there's someone here to see you" a new voice cut in and a hybrid entered the room with a nervous expression, the original nodded and lay Ariana on the bed, but she refused to release his suit.
"Ariana love, I need you to let go, I'll be right back"
"Okay" she sobbed and he began walking from the room "be careful" he heard her whisper as he closed the door and he smiled gently.
"Find Tyler, tell him where she is" Niklaus commanded the hybrid and the boy scurried away, making Klaus sigh and descend the stairs.

Advent of the Mindfire Mage: A Challenger's Return Story
Updates MWF, 6PM EST! Not so long ago, a story was posted on Webnovel, one that fired my imagination unlike almost anything before or since. It was known as The Challenger's Return: Rebirth of the Rainbow Mage. However, 150 chapters in, the author NightWind, who I'd personally interacted with and begun to consider a true friend, vanished from the internet without a trace. And so, I have acted upon my fervent desire to pick up his torch, to refuse to let his world that stirred such passion in me die. Read below about my own take on The Challenger's Return. Was Lheticus summoned to the Tower by chance, or by choice? Either way, with the new power he wins, he won't hesitate to burn anyone who seeks to keep him from his true love to cinders, and with a unique ability of the highest potential, he may just succeed, but he's just as likely to burn himself down. And as it turns out, the latter case may be woven into his very destiny...can that destiny be changed? And if it is, what will be the repercussions for the Tower? (You may want to read a fair amount of the original Challenger's Return before starting this, as, particularly in the early chapters, many things that are laid out in it are glossed over in this story.)
