EPILOGUE

Used to steal your parent's liquor

And climb to the roof,

Talk about our future

Like we had a clue

Never planned that one day, I'd be losing you

In another life, I will be your man

We'd keep all our promises,

Be us against the world

In another life, I would make you stay

So I won't have to say you were

The one that got away

"Daddy come pick me up! I'm short!"

"Yes darling,"

Eddy picked Brethany up to hang on the monkey bars. He stood right below her, even though he knew the six year old was exceptionally good at hanging from that monstrosity. But he still didn't want to risk anything.

"She definitely got better."

"Pa I wanna climb up too!"

Edwina nudged Brett. With a laugh the man obliged, pulling up his 8 year old pianist, to help her hang beside her friend.

"You should come to the concert next week, I'm only here for half a month now." Brett spoke with a small smile. "We'll be there." Eddy said, "Good luck."

The park flooded each other's minds with memories. Crying on shoulders, to sharing bubble teas, to merrily playing a violin duet, to having deep talks, to even doing homework together. And now, it helped them create more. "It was nice that Mary let you talk to me, after that- letter," Brett spoke. Eddy smiled, "She was the one who booked our meeting, pushed me out the house to meet you, that day," he sighed, "Five years ago." Brett smiled, l am so glad she did. Thank you for forgiving me."

Twenty minutes later, they walked back to their homes. Separate ways.

"Don't forget the blue rose,"

"I never did."

"And Brett? Happy third anniversary."

Nothing is perfect and all that's perfect is temporary.

That was it. Their story too~ was an imperfect story. Filled with flaws, mistakes, grieves, anger, pining but also love, memories, friendship and a true relationship. If you were meant to be, no matter how much distance is put between you two, you will find a way back. Brett and Eddy too, did. After years, there they were. Separate countries, separate families, separate lives, but together again. Their rings tied them to different people, pulled them apart, but they found a back to their friendship. Nothing more, nothing less; a simple friendship.

Brett and Eddy:

an unfinished love story

an imperfect ending

a sadly ever after
