《The Nerd who cried Bad Boy》fifty seven

"It's always the hot guys that get shot," Chase murmured, staring at bandages wrapped around his stomach where was shot.
Luckily it wasn't his chest.
We were in hospital and Chase laying in hospital bed while I was sitting on a comfy chair beside the bed. I had been sitting with Chase for two hours and we were chatting most of the time.
It would hurt for Chase everytime he laughed because of his injury but... Chase was still Chase. He laughed despite the wound.
"But it's always the lovable guys that don't die in the movies," I said.
Chase grinned, leaning back. "Can't argue with that. Anyway where's the food?"
I sighed, smiling. "Chase, you just ate ten minutes ago. How are you still hungry?"
"The bullet took so much energy from me," Chase said. "I actually didn't think this was going to happen."
Staring at Chase, I asked him,"How old are you?"
Chase chuckled,"I'm fourteen believe or not."
"Actually I don't believe it," I deadpanned.
"I just turned seventeen, but I did graduate highschool," Chase said. "I was too smart for the seventh grade and tenth grade so I skipped those grades."
I nodded,"Wow. Were you allowed to?"
"Yes." Chase nodded. "I had passed with straight A's. Believe it or not. I'm going to apply for university this year."
"Isn't it late?" I asked.
"Fuck no! When they see how hard I worked in highschool... they'll beg for me to come," Chase said.
"What made you take a gap year?" I asked.
Chase's smile slowly disappeared.
"Chase?" I whispered. "You can tell me..."
"My... my sister was kidnapped and killed by a rival gang," Chase frowned.
"Oh no." I breathed. "I'm so sorry."
"It's okay," Chase smiled sadly.
"Was it James' gang?" I asked, then held his hand.
"No." Chase shook his head and ran his fingers. "No. It was some other gang that really hated Vincent and I was really close with Vincent." Chase smiled at his memory. "He was like a father to me. I loved him." Chase bit his bottom lip and it looked like he was tearing up.
I kissed his cheek and he shut his eyes. "It's okay," I assured.
"When my sister was kidnapped. I didn't know what to do, I asked Vincent for help. We tracked down where they were but... the only thing I found was my sister's dead body," Chase said and a tear ran freely down his cheek. "I had no family expect my sister. Until Vincent took me in and introduced me to the guys. I felt like they didn't like me but they were so welcoming... expect Ian. Ian didn't like me and I always thought he didn't. Turns out he does." Chase smiled to himself. "I almost wanted to shoot myself once . Marcus found me and stopped me, punching me a few times, speaking and punching some sense into me. That asshole saved me."
I frowned,"Why? I mean, why did you want to kill yourself?"
Chase sighed. "I lost the only person I loved and cared about. I felt like no one liked me or wanted me and I... I felt like I wasn't... I thought... what was the point on living if..." he shrugged and looked at me with tears in his eyes. "I'm so sensitive... I hate it."

I hugged Chase tightly and he hugged me back. I felt my sweater dampen with Chase's tears, he fisted my sweater. "I'm all happy and careless on the outside but... I'm a gooey mess on the inside," he cried silently. "I miss her, so fucking much."
I cried too; hating to see Chase cry.
"I'm sorry," Chase whispered.
"Don't be," I said and took his face in my hands. I stared at his beautiful ocean eyes, his platinum blond hair just above his eyebrows.
I smiled. "Did Vincent bring you all together?"
"Yes." Chase nodded. "We, all had lost loved ones... we couldn't take care of ourselves so Vincent brought us together."
"Doesn't Erik have a grandmother?" I asked.
Chase chuckled,"Yeah. Erik had lost his mother. He's dad left him and all he has is his grandmother who is being taken care of by a live-in nurse."
"Cameron?" I asked. "What about him?"
"Cameron..." he chuckled. "His parents always treated him like they never cared but they loved him. It was a break-in. They were killed in the process and he woke up with his parents dead in the living room. Cameron would sometimes joke about it but you could see the look on his face that he was very sad."
"Xavier?"
"His mother was a single parent and she commited suicide. Xavier was then homeless and was already in a gang at an age of 12," Chase said. "He never did drugs but he did steal. He met Vincent when he tried to steal his wallet and Vincent caught him, took him in when he found out that Xavier was homeless."
"Ian?"
"Ian was an orphan. He knew nothing about his parents or his family. He was kind of an outcast at his orphanage but some girls did have a crush on him because of his 'bad boy' characteristics. When he turned eighteen, he had no where to go but Vincent... being Vincent... took him in and brought him to the gang," Chase said.
Vincent sounded like he was really a caring person, I had wished to have met him in person.
"Marcus was never in the gang when Vincent was alive. Marcus would just hang out with us but when Vincent died, he joined in another gang not ours. He became gangleader there but we begged Marcus to come to our gang and he did, becoming the leader," Chase said.
I gently caressed my thumb over Chase's palm,"How was Vincent like?"
"He was funny, Oreo addicted, kind and popular. Everyone knew Vincent and most women who knew Vincent had a crush on him because of his great charm and his looks," Chase said. "And when Vincent got married to María, every woman almost didn't like her. María didn't care, she still treated people kindly and people started liking her."
"How did he look like? Do you have a picture of him?" I asked.
Chase nodded and took his phone from underneath his pillow. He showed me the picture of Marcus and Vincent. Marcus was smiling and it looked like he was talking, looking away from the camera while Vincent was looking at Marcus, grinning, listening to what he was saying. María was laughing, tears in her eyes.

Whatever Marcus was saying in the picture was probably funny.
"Wow, Vincent... looked pretty handsome," I said. I wasn't kidding. He looked like an older version of Marcus, blue eyes but Marcus had brown eyes though they had the same face features. Marcus had black hair and so did María but Vincent had brown.
"No wonder he got married a freaking model," Chase murmured to himself.
I chuckled,"Anyway, I'll be back okay?" I said as I stood up.
"Wait, where are you going?" Chase asked as he wanted to sit upright. He groaned and I rushed back to him.
"No, I'll be here," I assured, gently laying him back. "I'm just going to check on Marcus. Just stay calm okay? Please."
"Okay." Chase sighed. "Please be back soon. I can't cope without anyone by my side."
I nodded, smiling sadly. "I'll always be here for you if you need me okay? I love you, Chase." I kissed his cheek.
I felt him smile, his cheek rising,"I love you too, Alyssa."
He looked at me,"Right now, when I look at you... I see my sister."
I slowly smiled and a tear ran down my cheek, thinking how I almost lost Chase because he had risked his life for me. "I'll be back soon."
Chase nodded and I left the room, going to Marcus'. It was very cold in the hospital so I had worn my hazel coloured sweater and worn-out jeans. I nodded at a nurse who walked past me and I went in Marcus' room.
María was passed out on the chair beside Marcus' bed. Marcus was on his phone, a bored look on his face. I lightly knocked, though the door was already ajar, I wanted to be polite.
Marcus looked up at me then smiled, "Alyssa." he smiled. I smiled too and then shut the door behind me. I hugged him and kissed his forehead.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt badly?" I asked and looked at his arm. His left arm.
He nodded,"It's not bad really." He made space for me on his bed and I got in it, laying my head on the pillow.
"You wish you went to Prom?" Marcus said minutes later.
I sighed and nodded,"I was so excited. To see other people also dressed up for Prom. To dance with you."
"I'm sorry. If I wasn't in a gang, we wouldn't be in this mess," Marcus said.
I shook my head. "It's no one's fault. Really. Stop blaming yourself."
"Alyssa, you got kidnapped because of me and you almost got sold to another gang because of me--"
"No." I sighed. "Marcus, it's all over okay? I'm okay. You are... okay. We are all okay so stop blaming yourself."
Marcus sighed and smiled,"Sure."
Marcus' phone rang and he took it and answered it. "Hey," he said with a smile on his face. "Sí..." he then started speaking Spanish. "Okay. Love you too." he ended the call.
"Who was that?" I asked.
"My brother, Diego," Marcus replied and he sat upright. "He's coming."
I gasped,"What? Really?"
"Yeah, he speaks English most of the time... so lucky for you," Marcus said and winked at me when I got off the bed.
"So... when is your brother coming?" I asked.
"Right..." Marcus said and the door opened, revealing a man and woman walking in. "Now." Marcus smiled.
The man had black hair and blue eyes, sharp jawline and a muscular body. That man was Diego.
Holy guacamole, is everyone in the Sawyer family freaking hot?
The woman beside him was dark haired, brown eyes and wore a leather jacks that was oversized for her and under that she wore a dress that hugged her slim body.
"Marcus," Diego said and grinned. He walked past me and hugged the life out of Marcus. "What happened?"
"Got into a little argument with my rival," Marcus replied and Diego looked at Marcus' arm that was shot.
"A little?" Diego repeated. "You're in hospital, Marcus! Who was it?"
"Don't worry about it." Marcus shrugged.
"It was that James guy was it?" Diego said. "I am so gonna teach him a lesson."
"Oh you can't," Marcus said.
Diego looked at him,"And why's that?"
"He's dead," Marcus replied with a smirk and Diego gasped.
"Really? What happened?"
Marcus looked at me and smiled. Diego also looked at me, making the woman also look at me. "My girlfriend freaked out and shot him after he shot my arm," Marcus said and I awkwardly smiled.
"You're his girlfriend right?" Diego asked and I nodded.
"I love hoodies..." I said to Diego and gave him a thumbs up, feeling nevrous. "I mean... I'm Alyssa Heart, your brother's girlfriend." I held out my hand for him to shake.
Diego looked at the woman beside him who I assumed was his girlfriend or friend or something. "Oh." Diego nodded. "You're cuter than I thought."
Marcus chuckled,"She's one bundle of cuteness."
Diego smiled and held out his arms, "I do hugs."
"Since when?" the Diego's friend/girlfriend murmured.
I smiled and hugged Diego. I pulled away,"You must be--"
"Diego Sawyer," he said and nodded. "Marcus' older and more handsome brother."
Marcus snorted,"Wake up Diego, you're dreaming again."
Diego rolled his eyes. "And this," he wrapped his arm around the lady's shoulders. "Is my beautiful wife, Valentina."
I looked at the lady named Valentina and I smiled at her. I hugged her as a greeting and she hugged back. I looked at Marcus and he smiled,"So you finally met my brother. He's so old now."
"I'm 24 years old." Diego glared at Marcus.
"Diego!" María exclaimed and hugged Diego. "And Valentina!"
I smiled. "Gotta say, everyone in the Sawyer family is freaking beautiful," I blurted after staring at all of them. They all smiled including María who I thought was asleep.
"Anyway gotta go back to Chase," I said. "I'll see you later."
