《The Nerd who cried Bad Boy》seventeen

The bell rang for our lunch break. Everyone sighed in relief since the period was longer than usual. Sam, Kendall and Marcus decided to not come to school that day. Well, Sam and Kendall wanted to come to stay by my side but they looked so tired and they did want to stay at home so I ordered them to stay.
"Hey, Aaliyah," I greeted her with a warm smile and we hugged.
"Lyssa, I thought you weren't here today," she said and smiled.
"I'll always come to school so don't worry." I winked and we left the hallway and walked in the cafeteria. While Aaliyah stood in line to buy food from the counter, I went to our table at the back of cafeteria. I was stopped by someone who called out my name.
"Alyssa!" Bree called me from the other side of cafeteria. She was sitting at the 'popular' table filled with the popular students of the school. "Come here!" she said and everyone at the table nodded, agreeing with her.
"Umm." I glanced at Aaliyah who was still standing in line and then I looked at Bree.
"Just come," she said, waving her hand.
I sighed and walked to the table. I smiled at everyone. "Hey guys," I said, standing with my colourful lunch bag dangling from my hand.
"Hey, sit next to me," Veronica said and scooted a bit and made space for me.
"Um, I'm actually about to sit with--"
"Just sit Alyssa." Bree rolled her eyes. I narrowed my eyes at her and sat anyway.
"So, we're going to the mall today. You want to come with?" Bree asked.
"I don't know. Remember the last time you said we were going to the mall?" I quirked my eyebrow at her and awkwardly played with the zip of my lunchbag. I wanted to eat but I'd feel embarrassed if I opened my lunchbag and ate my lunch in front of them.
I didn't know what had gotten into me. All of a sudden, I was suddenly caring about what other people thought about what I did and would judge me. Here I was wearing a worn out sweater and pale jeans while they were wearing short skirts, crop tops and trendy clothes.
"Yeah we were going to the mall but a friend called and told me that there was a party going on," she lied. It was so obvious she was lying but I brushed the fact away. "This time, we're really heading to the mall to do some shopping," she said and eyed my sweater. "And we'll buy you something more attractive."
I looked down at my outfit and back at Bree,"Well, thanks." Bree nodded.
"Alyssa?" someone tapped my shoulder and I turned around and saw Angelo.
I smiled and immediately stood up with my lunchbag,"Hey Angelo, where have you been?"
"We--" Angelo was about to answer but Bree interrupted him.
"Alyssa, where are you going? We were busy having a conversation," Bree said.
"I'm sitting with them." I pointed at Aaliyah who was sitting with Percy and Trick. "Don't worry, we'll meet after school, Bree."
"No I want you to sit--" Bree started but I turned around with Angelo and was about to leave.

"Hey Alyssa, I heard what happened last night," she said making me stop in my tracks. "I heard about Jay trying to take advantage of you."
I shut my eyes as the memories came flooding back. Tears wanted to come and pour out but I didn't want to attract any attention, not like I hadn't had enough attention on me that time.
"If you wanna chat you can come talk to me," Bree said loudly. I sighed and rolled my eyes. I started walking to the table with Angelo and I sat next to Trick. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me in for a hug.
"Missed you, Alyssa." he smiled.
"M- missed you too," I whispered, aware that I wanted to cry.
"Hey Alyssa, what's wrong?" Trick asked with his eyebrows furrowed.
"I- I don't want to talk about it," I stated and looked down.
"Hey, Alyssa. We're here if you--"
"No it's fine. I'm fine," I assured and placed my lunchbag on the table. I unzipped it and only took out a large sized granola bar for me to eat for now.
"Anyway, where were you guys?" Aaliyah asked the boys.
They glanced at eachother before Angelo cleared his throat and answered,"We were at a... funeral."
Trick and Percy shot Angelo a look. Angelo shrugged,"What?" Trick awkwardly smiled at me as Percy rubbed the back of his neck and avoided eye contact with us. Aaliyah and I shared a blank look and then looked at the boys.
"Not to be rude or anything but we're not buying that," Aaliyah said for us. "Not one bit."
"Yeah, even we don't," Percy said glaring at Angelo.
"We were at a funeral... technically," Angelo said, smirking slightly.
"Oh my God, I want to kill him next," Percy murmured to Trick.
"Next? What do you mean next?" Aaliyah asked, though as a joke and I chuckled.
Percy paused but Trick chuckled,"He was just joking. He got into a fight with his friend. Nothing serious," Trick said. "You free afterschool?"
"Umm, why?" I asked.
"We missed a lot of work and we need help to catch up," Trick said.
"Ooh, I can help too." Aaliyah said.
"Sounds good," Percy smiled at Aaliyah and she smiled back.
"I can't go with you guys afterschool, but can I take a rain check and go tomorrow?" I replied and bit my granola bar.
"Yeah, sure. Tomorrow's perfect." Trick nodded.
A normal school day occured after that and finally the bell rang to dismiss us all. I left the class and saw Aaliyah along the way,"I'll see you tomorrow," I said and we hugged eachother goodbye.
I walked out and saw Bree and Veronica waiting in the car. Veronica waved at me and I smiled at them and approached the car. I got in the backseat of the car and placed my backpack beside me.
"First we are going to Veronica's house," Bree said and started the car. "It's not far from here." She drove to Veronica's house and parked in the already open garage. We got and went inside the house. The house was beautiful, not that big but not small either. Though I was shocked that Veronica lived here by herself, her parents were in the UK.

We got to her room and Bree started taking out clothes from Veronica's closet. She placed them on the bed and examined them. "Ooh, wear this," Bree said and picked a high waisted leather skirt and crop top.
I eyed the outfit,"It's kind of small for me."
"No it isn't, trust me." Bree sighed.
"Bree, these could perfectly fit a twelve year old." I looked at her then the outfit.
"Exactly, you have a body of a twelve year old now take these clothes," Bree put the clothes in my hands and pushed me out the bedroom. "And get dressing."
I didn't know where to go so I decided to go to the bathroom. I got in the bathroom and shut the door behind me. I spotted a huge mirror and I stared at my reflection. I smiled and shrugged, taking off my clothes and wearing the fishnet, high waisted leather skirt and crop top that almost revealed my breasts. The leather skirt also wasn't good either, it was literally centimetres away from revealing my butt.
Bree and Veronica burst in the room, holding lipsticks, eyeliners etc. Bree nodded examining me,"Looks pretty good." she smirked. Veronica untied my hair and let it fall. She began to powder my face with foundation and do more stuff to my face. After 5 minutes, Veronica finished.
"Gorgeous," she said and I turned around to look at myself in the mirror. I gasped and saw the reflection staring back at me. Veronica had appiled black eyeliner on me and red lipstick. I was even lighter than usual since she applied the foundation as well.
I looked different and I wasn't used to this look. "My mom would kill me," I said and chuckled.
Veronica and Bree glanced at eachother and back at me before laughing,"Why?" Veronica asked.
"Look at this outfit. Short skirt, cropped top--"
"And high heels," Bree finished my sentence then held up a pair of black, thick heels.
"I'll be as tall as a mountain of I wear that." I took the heels anyway and wore them. I looked at my reflection and flicked my hair. "To be honest, I look kind of slutty."
"No way, you actually look drop dead gorgeous. If Marcus saw you right now, he would think you are the best girlfriend he has ever had. Plus, this I better than that hoodies you wear all the time," Bree said and lifted my skirt up.
"You really think so... about Marcus will think I'm his best girlfriend ever?" I said and stopped her from lifting up my skirt.
"Oh my God, look at you, you look like a model right now," Bree said. "Anyway, it's getting late. Let's go." I noticed that they were wearing casual outfits like tee's that were slightly over-sized and they wore jeans and sneakers. I furrowed my eyebrows but shrugged.
We left the house and got in the car. That time, Veronica did drive us to the mall. She parked and we got outside the car. Since it was almost six o'clock, it was starting to get chill. I had asked Bree for her the hoodie that was on her lap and she replied that she was going to wear it. She didn't wear it though.
We walked in the mall and first went to a café. I bought myself an ice coffee and donut. After that, we went into a clothing store. They spent hours picking out outfits, trying them on, going to other stores, trying clothes from there and buying them then coming back to the stores we had went to before.
"Black or red?" Bree asked us. She held two dresses that looked exactly the same but the only difference was the colour of the dresses.
Veronica examined the dresses and nodded,"Both." Bree nodded and folded both dresses up, she bought the dresses and we left the store. I received some looks and whistles from random people which bothered me. I took off my heels since my feet started aching. I held the heels in my hands and started to catch up with Bree and Veronica who were ahead of me.
"So where are we going now?" I asked them.
"Eat, I know this great five-star restaurant near this mall," Veronica said while typing something in her phone.
"Why can't we go to the food court?" I asked as I slightly pulled down my leather skirt. "It's literally a few feet away from us." I pointed at the food court.
Bree shook her head,"Too much junk food. Veronica and I are vegetarians."
"Oh." I furrowed my eyebrows and rolled my eyes. We left the mall and went to the five-star restaurant. I felt underdressed, wearing a crop top, high waisted skirt and fishnet stockings. Everyone looked at me weirdly but then looked away. We sat at a table and ordered food which came very quickly. Bree, Veronica and I enjoyed our time together as friends. They were actually nice and funny if people got to know them. I wished that were always like this because everyone including me would love them. I didn't think that people this nice and funny were people who bullied me. I really liked this side of Bree and Veronica.
Returning home was fun. We were telling eachother funny stories that happened in our lives. Bree turned the sterring wheel and slowed the car to a stop. While Veronica was on her phone, I peeked over her shoulder and saw it was . My eyes widened,"What? How come it's already eleven?"
"Because of time, duh." Bree scoffed and opened the door.
"Wait, where are we?" I asked Bree.
"At my house," Bree answered and smirked at Veronica. Veronica grinned back and looked at me. I furrowed my eyebrows and shrugged. I got out the car and so did Bree and Veronica.
I smiled at them then looked foward. I froze when I realised this was not Bree's house. It was mine.
And my mom was standing in front of the front door with her arms crossed, anger flowing through her.
"M- mom?" I stammered, feeling numb.

I had always found the idea of “Other Worlds” stupid. Magic wasn’t real. Even if it was the chance of someone spiriting away someone form a world without magic to a world with seemed utterly stupid. After all, what good would a tech geek do in a world of Dungeons and Dragons. Well, jokes on me, I guess. As I was about to log out of the NVR game I have been obsessing over for over 8 years, I blacked out. Next thing I know I am now living as my in game avatar in another world. Only I am now back to scratch, no more giant 200 floor dungeon, no more army of minions and traps, just me and a small room in the ground. Luckily, I have all I need to slowly rebuild my dungeon, I only hope I live long enough to do so. Who sent me here, what do they want from me, and can I ever return home? There better be answers to these questions because, while being my avatar is awesome, I also want to go home… I think.

The world is said to be formed out of duality of man. Good and evil, right and wrong, light and dark. And with duality, comes conflict. A meaningless clash of ideals results in pointless wars. Azlan is wanderer who doesn't falls in either category. Tired and done with the redundant world, he lives his secluded life, hunting monstrosites for coin in the crumbling province of Mountaliya, situated in the land of Forsa. The premise follows Azlan as he explores the province, experiencing the culture and its people as they try to stand unshaken amidst a cold and unforgiving world. The story is a dark fantasy that is a balance of action and world building but most importantly, it follows the people going about their daily lives. The world has entered a state of stasis, there are no high stakes, no glory to be had, only a decaying realm of ice remains. Everyone awaits for Heaven's descent, an event prophesied to bring the world out of stasis, by granting the champion of the event a wish. Heaven Shall Descend. I wanted to write a high fantasy story that doesn't focuses too much on Magic and Swordfights, but rather interactions between people, a bit of politics and ideals. This is my first attempt at writing something this huge, please let me know if you see mistakes or any problems in general, so I can learn from them. (The cover picture is from the year 1818, "Wanderer Above the Mist" by Caspar David Friedrich). I also write Short stories set in the same shared universe. You can read them here: Dark Fantasy Short Stories.

Uriel doesn't know where she is. Or who she is.All she remembers is her name and two yellow eyes with a deep voice. All she has is a dagger and a small brown notebook with rules about weird things. All she knows is that she should follow the rules, or she will get hurt.Rule #1: Try to avoid people, especially people named Peter Pan.Disclaimer: I do NOT own Once Upon a Time or any characters IN Once Upon a Time.
