《Perfect Strangers》33| Guilty

It was now Sunday and we had made a plan to go bowling once again. Carter wanted to invite Zach so we did and he said he would bring someone with him. Carter and I headed inside where Connor and Hannah were already waiting. We all greeted each other and then Zach showed up shortly after.
With Abby.
"Hi," she smiled.
"Hi," I smiled back at her.
"All right, we'll split up. Three teams or two or two teams of three?" Zach asked.
"Let's do three teams of two," Connor agreed. So we split up. Carter and I. Connor and Hannah. Zach and Abby. Which was stupid because Carter and I would definitely win.
And we did.
I laughed while turning around and taking the last shot and knocking all the pins down.
"Where the hell did you learn to bowl like that?" Zach asked.
"My dad taught me," I replied while Carter hugged me while chuckling.
"I should have warned you guys," Hannah sighed. Carter gave me a quick kiss before he went with Zach and Connor to get some snacks.
"Alex, can I talk to you for a minute?" Abby asked.
"Yeah, sure," I stood up and she followed me to a secluded corner. Hannah shot me a confused look and I simply nodded at her.
"I've always been horrible to you. Especially since Carter said you were his girlfriend that day. I know it was a lie but uh..." she chuckled awkwardly, "I shouldn't have done that. I should have just been mature about the situation and spoken to you or Carter like a normal person does. I feel really um-"
"Guilty?" I prompted.
"Yeah," she said while staring down. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry," she apologized.
"It's okay," I smiled.
"Really? You're going to forgive me that quick?" she asked in disbelief.
"Yeah," I shrugged, "Forgiven and forgotten. Sounds good?"
She nodded with a smile, "Thanks."
"So," I began, "Zach is nice, right?" I asked.
"Really nice," she said while staring at him.
"You should hang out with him. He's a really nice guy."
"I know, it's just weird. He's really nice to me, I haven't had that before," she said.

"Me neither. But you should take the chance. I can say it's worth it," I smiled. We headed back after that and sat down.
"Where'd you go?" Carter asked, pulling me in the seat beside his.
"She wanted to talk," I said quietly. He raised his eyebrows at me questioningly. "It's okay. She just felt bad," I whispered.
"You're too kind to people," he mumbled.
"That's why I'm going to heaven," I said while eating a french fry.
"You said you'll come to see me," he smirked.
"I might," I shrugged while smiling.

I turned to him as he turned off his car in my driveway once he had brought me back home. "Come over," he said.
"We've got school tomorrow, I can't," I replied.
"Come over," he repeated.
"I can't," I shook my head.
"Come over."
"Saying it, again and again, doesn't change my answer," I chuckled.
"Damn it," he mumbled, leaning his head back.
"I will see you tomorrow morning," I sighed while grabbing my phone.
"I love you," he said.
"I love you too," I replied before leaning forward and kissing him. I pulled away a little later and climbed out of his and went inside. My dad was sitting on the kitchen counter when I walked in there, it looked like he was working on some papers for work. "Hey, whatcha doing?" I asked while walking over and grabbing myself some water from the fridge.
"Working, honey," he sighed while looking through one paper after the other, annotating it.
"What's going on?" I asked while standing beside him, looking into the papers. There was a new property that he was dealing with under his own name with Mr. Reed's. "What's that?" I asked.
"What's what?"
"That," I pointed to it.
He quickly grabbed it and flipped the page over. "Nothing for you to see," he mumbled. I looked at him weirdly and rightfully confused. "What?" I chuckled. "It's nothing sweetheart, go to bed," he waved his hand dismissively.
"Dad, it's eight pm," I snorted.

"Go to your room, darling. Let me work," he pleaded.
"Okay, night," I said before going upstairs, eyeing him suspiciously.
What property?
I woke up the next morning and got ready like I normally do. When I got downstairs, Carter was enjoying breakfast with my dad. "Hell-" I stopped talking. "O. Hello," I said while walking over to them.
"Hey," he grinned before kissing my cheek.
"Um- hi."
"See what I mean? She just gets so awkward," he said, turning to my dad.
"Yeah, I see," my dad nodded in response.
"I do not get awkward," I scoffed while sitting beside Carter.
"Really?" he asked, turning to face me.
"Yeah," I shrugged.
He grabbed my chin and turned me to face him before kissing me. He pulled away a minute later and looked at me.
"I'll meet you in the car," I stood up.
"Sit back down," he chuckled.
My dad looked between us while smiling before grabbing his coffee. "I'll be heading out now. Have fun you two," he said before leaving.
I waited till he left before glaring at Carter. "What?" he laughed.
"Are you stupid? Am I not supposed to get awkward when my boyfriend kisses me in front of my dad?" I asked.
"No," he shrugged. I narrowed my eyes at him. "I love you," he smiled.
I rolled my eyes before taking the rest of his french toast. "We'll be late," I said while getting up.
"I don't wanna go though," he whined. I stared at him before running to the front door where my dad was starting the car.
"Dad!"
His head poked out of the window while I walked over. "What's wrong?" he questioned.
"Nothing. I was just wondering if I can like- I don't know- not go to school today?" This wasn't normal, he would never say yes. But I knew everyone once in a while he would let me take a day off to catch my breath. I crossed my fingers behind my back while he thought about it.
"All right. But if you're not going to school, you're not going anywhere else either. You're locked in that house, you hear me?"
"Yes, dad. Bye, love you," I laughed while going back inside. He stood up and grabbed his bag.
"Okay, let's go," he huffed.
"We're not going," I sang, pinching his cheek.
"What?" he asked.
"You said you didn't wanna go. So, we're not going," I shrugged.
"There's no way he agreed," he chuckled.
"Yeah, he did. We just can't leave the house," I mumbled the last bit.
He opened his mouth to say something but smacked it shut. "Then what are we going to do?" he asked in confusion.
"What do you want to do?" I asked while propping myself up on the counter.
"Have sex," he smirked.
"Nice try," I snorted, "Seriously, what do you wanna do?" I asked.
"I'm being serious," he replied.
I narrowed my eyes at him before rolling my eyes. "No. What do you wanna do?" I whined while grabbing his shirt and pulling him closer till he stood between my legs.
"We can kiss," he said before pecking my lips. "We can make out," he said before doing it again. "We can have sex," he whispered.
"We should teach you how to cook," I said, unphased by his art of seduction.
He pulled back and stared at me with a blank look. "What's the easiest to cook?" he sighed in defeat.
"It's not the easiest but it's not that bad. Lasagna," I shrugged.
"Mmm," he stared at me unsurely.
"You'll be great. And hopefully done by lunch," I mumbled the last bit while hopping off. I gathered all the ingredients and told him which is which before sitting down.
"Now what?" he asked. The whole time, I sat there and instructed him and he followed, occasionally adding too much or too little of something. "Now what?" he asked, holding the baking tray in his hand.
"Now put it in the oven for forty-five minutes. I already set the temperature for you," I said while walking over.
He put it in and then closed it up with a sigh. "I'm never making lasagna again," he shook his head.
"If you're my boyfriend, you are," I laughed while turning to him.
He pulled me against him, his hands in my back pockets while I threw my arms around his neck. "Forty-five minutes?"
I nodded in response.
"I think that's long enough," he shrugged.
I looked at him confused, "For what?"
"For having sex," he grinned before picking me up and taking me upstairs while I laughed.

Myth of The World's Trees
And Simon answered their call with a single statement that nobody understood "Et super mos absit hoc hodie!" "Yah!" "WWWaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!" "AAAlllllaaaaallllaaaaallllaaaa!" "EeEEellllleeeeeelllllleeeeeeuuuuuuu!" I, too, yelled a battle cry at the top of my lungs. I had no idea what Simon had just spouted but from Camilla's giggling, I could guess that Simon thought that spouting nonsense was his way of getting out of the earlier predicament. "I forbid death upon this day," Camilla said. "What?" I answered a bit at a loss. "Ancient Latin," she replied smugly, "He said 'I forbid death upon this day'." I laughed aloud "Then he is gonna be really disappointed in everyone here," Camilla did not reply and instead took a deep breath. I did the same, zoning out everything in my surroundings. The environment became a world of electrical pulses traveling across several networks. I perceived the world through my lightning and sped my heartbeat to inhuman levels. I was present now, at this moment, at this point in time. I could feel the electrifying air saturating my lungs, the electrified ground vibrating at the rhythm of the approaching enemy. Then I took a step forward, everyone followed in tandem. Camilla the first, and then the others. Then I took a second step, and this time everyone followed simultaneously. Third step… Fourth step… Fifth step… Then light jogging… Speeding up… Running … Running faster…. Then suddenly, everyone disappeared into motes of light particles that re-constructed itself hundreds of feet above the horde, dozens of miles away from our initial position. We were literally 'diving' into battle.-------------------------------------------------------------------Despite a rough childhood in the slums, Omari had everything a guy could want - a loving girlfriend, an understanding sister, a wonderful teacher, and his dream job. Still, the scars from his childhood made Omari unable to live a dull life. In the year 2046, the World was thrown into chaos as the apocalypse came in the form of massive trees that shot up out of the ground one day. These trees towered over the tallest of buildings and had thicknesses that spanned kilometers at a time. They grew everywhere, in homes, businesses, and cities as they formed a complex network that overlayed the old world. The cause of the apocalypse was unknown, but Omari's workplace was believed to be the origin point of the unfortunate events.Fifteen years after the start of the Apocalypse... after all the pain and suffering... after losing everything he cared about, Omari sent his memories back in time to make sure that the future he lives in, never came to be.Will he be able to uncover the mystery of The Trees? Will he be able to protect all those he has lost? Will he succeed, or will his attempt be washed away by the currents of time? Will Omari be able to learn the truth about 'THE MYTH OF THE WORLD'S TREES'?
8 145Letters from a Dying World
Times historic are often penned after the fact in the lifeblood of the pitiful, forgotten masses. That roiling, uncountable crush of humanity, they who held the pikes and they who threw down the tyrants. Their veins opened by gazes academic, sharp and cruel, and pecked away at with quills, written out of their own story. The Second Dark Crusade was a time of such poignancy. A time when the light of man waned and flickered, choking in the acrid smoke of its own inadequacy. As befitting of such an age it has been covered more than a capital whore, and so I attempt not to tell that story again. That story of dull, unfeeling analysis. Neither here will you find the browbeating, propagandistic screeds so common in the hands of men, the light of youth still burning behind their eyes. Nay, here I shall attempt to cover fresh ground, not tread on the grave dirt of long dead authors. Here I shall attempt to tell the story of the small lives caught, unbeknownst to them, in the great and torrential downpour that we now call history. Here lies the true story of The Second Crusade. - Loremaster Ip'Qal
